Remember the Lord your God, for it is he who gives you the ability to produce wealth

Deuteronomy 8:1-20

Be careful to follow every command I am giving you today, so that you may live and increase and may enter and possess the land the Lord promised on oath to your ancestors. 

He humbled you, causing you to hunger and then feeding you with manna, which neither you nor your ancestors had known, to teach you that man does not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord. Your clothes did not wear out and your feet did not swell during these forty years. Know then in your heart that as a man disciplines his son, so the Lord your God disciplines you.

When you have eaten and are satisfied, praise the Lord your God for the good land he has given you. Be careful that you do not forget the Lord your God, failing to observe his commands, his laws and his decrees that I am giving you this day.

Then your heart will become proud and you will forget the Lord your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery.

But remember the Lord your God, for it is he who gives you the ability to produce wealth, and so confirms his covenant, which he swore to your ancestors, as it is today.

If you ever forget the Lord your God and follow other gods and worship and bow down to them, I testify against you today that you will surely be destroyed.

Remember the desert years. God is driving the nations out because of their wickedness,  not your righteousness.

Why?

Be careful to follow God's word, be careful do not to forget the Lord your God.

To teach you that man does not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord. 

Be careful to follow: When we are satisfied in our life it is easy to turn away from the Lord.

Remember the Lord your God who gives you the ability to produce wealth. No me, I am nothing without the Lord.

紀念過去在曠野引導的經歷。所以要遵行神的話語。人活著不是靠食物，乃是靠神的話，神賜瑪哪。因為要照神的吩咐去揀瑪哪。透過瑪哪學習要聽神的話。由過去40年聽神的話，有好處。摩西勉勵以色列人要遵行神的話。人在生活舒適、豐富後反而忘記神的恩典，心高氣傲，容易離開神。

得財貨的力量是神給的。不要忘記耶和華是使我蒙福的神。我們活著是靠神的話。

How?

Remember that it is the Lord who gives me the ability to produce wealth.

But it was because the Lord loved you and kept the oath he swore to your ancestors

Deuteronomy 7:1-26

When the Lord your God has delivered them over to you and you have defeated them, then you must destroy them totally. Make no treaty with them, and show them no mercy.

This is what you are to do to them: Break down their altars, smash their sacred stones, cut down their Asherah poles and burn their idols in the fire. For you are a people holy to the Lord your God. The Lord your God has chosen you out of all the peoples on the face of the earth to be his people, his treasured possession.

The Lord did not set his affection on you and choose you because you were more numerous than other peoples, for you were the fewest of all peoples. But it was because the Lord loved you and kept the oath he swore to your ancestors.

Do not be terrified by them, for the Lord your God, who is among you, is a great and awesome God. The Lord your God will drive out those nations before you, little by little. You will not be allowed to eliminate them all at once, or the wild animals will multiply around you.

Do not bring a detestable thing into your house or you, like it, will be set apart for destruction. Regard it as vile and utterly detest it, for it is set apart for destruction.

Moses calls the nation to faith and obedience. Here Moses turns from the past to the present and future. Israel will soon be right in amongst the pagan nations. They will taste the heady glory of victory.

Why?

Moses claims what Israelites have to do when they enter the promised land. Not because they are numerous or strong but because the Lord loves them and kept the oath God swore to their ancestors.

The Lord gives them the victory little by little, for the wild animals will multiply around them. So even the strategy of the step forward to the promised land is full of the love of the Lord.

Do not bring a detestable thing into your house or you, for God is angry about this. It may turn our hearts away from the Lord.

前一日：律法的總原則就是愛。守律法是維繫我們與神關係的道路。

因為有關係所以關係愈親我們的責任愈大，所以與神有關係，竟有責任。

縱然我們不去拜偶像，但是世界的人卻會影響我們。要從世界分別出來。不要結親！表面上他們的生活習慣、價值量，宗教都會影響我們，不是殘忍的問題。人與人立約是因為彼此有好處，彼此愛慕。不要想從世界得好處，卻不受其價值觀的影響，必成為網羅。耶和華所賜的福不會加上憂慮。只有來自神的福，才是真正的福。

How?

Regard idols as vile and utterly detest it, for it is set apart for destruction. God is Holy!

Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength

Deuteronomy 6:1-25

Hear, Israel, and be careful to obey so that it may go well with you and that you may increase greatly in a land flowing with milk and honey, just as the Lord, the God of your ancestors, promised you.

Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. 

Fear the Lord your God, serve him only and take your oaths in his name.  Do not follow other gods, the gods of the peoples around you; for the Lord your God, who is among you, is a jealous God and his anger will burn against you, and he will destroy you from the face of the land.  Do not put the Lord your God to the test as you did at Massah. 

And if we are careful to obey all this law before the Lord our God, as he has commanded us, that will be our righteousness.

The great commandment and instructions to teach future generations. Jesus said that the whole law could be summed up in the words of verse 5. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.

Why?

Obey the word of God is our righteousness for the standard of righteousness is in the word of the Lord.

For there are so many attractions and our weak, it is easy to fall into this world and forgets the commandment of the Lord. So we have to bear in mind and be aware every day, and depends on the leading of the Holy Spirit.

How?

Fear the Lord for our God is jealous God, and our God is full of love, return to our God.

Walk in obedience to all that the Lord your God has commanded you

Deuteronomy 5:22-33

For what mortal has ever heard the voice of the living God speaking out of fire, as we have, and survived? Go near and listen to all that the Lord our God says. Then tell us whatever the Lord our God tells you. We will listen and obey.

The Lord heard you when you spoke to me, and the Lord said to me, “I have heard what this people said to you. Everything they said was good. Oh, that their hearts would be inclined to fear me and keep all my commands always, so that it might go well with them and their children forever!

Walk in obedience to all that the Lord your God has commanded you, so that you may live and prosper and prolong your days in the land that you will possess.

Why?
For the people of Israelites afraid the Lord to listen God's word, for they fear the fire may consume them, they prefer Moses listen to the word of God and told them, then they like to obey the word of the Lord.

God is pleased that people fear Him and obey the commandment of the Lord.

摩西回憶當時人聽見神說話後的反應：以色列人害怕、敬畏神。

主對於他們敬畏的心的肯定：常存敬畏的心，雖然我們軟弱，會被試探勝過，聖靈會幫助我們走在神的道路上。只要回頭認罪，神必看顧！

Walk-in obedience to all that the Lord your God has commanded you is also told to us today.

The Lord our God made a covenant with us at Horeb

Deuteronomy 5:1-21

The Lord our God made a covenant with us at Horeb. It was not with our ancestors that the Lord made this covenant, but with us, with all of us who are alive here today. 

You shall have no other gods before me. You shall not misuse the name of the Lord your God, for the Lord will not hold anyone guiltless who misuses his name.

Observe the Sabbath day by keeping it holy, as the Lord your God has commanded you. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is a sabbath to the Lord your God. 

Honor your father and your mother, as the Lord your God has commanded you, so that you may live long and that it may go well with you in the land the Lord your God is giving you.

You shall not murder.

You shall not commit adultery.

You shall not steal.

You shall not give false testimony against your neighbor.

You shall not covet your neighbor’s wife. You shall not set your desire on your neighbor’s house or land, his male or female servant, his ox or donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbor.

Why?

These ten commandments are made with us, today. It is not for the ancestors.

Obey thus ten commandments is the way of blessing where we are going.

Do not steal, include steal the time with the Lord. The rule of these commandments is to focus on our God in our daily life and honor his Holy name.

人的問題總是容易犯以前的錯誤。人也有可能把耶和華神像化，偶像化！所以神向人顯現時看不到形象。

人在那地住久了就痳痺了。如同每天呼吸，已經忘記空氣的存在。我們一直在神恩典中，容易忘記神的恩典?我們最容易在恩典中忘記神！當我們感覺不到神時，神可能給我們苦難，讓我們要尋求神的恩典。衣食足，知榮辱?不是！而是飽暖思淫慾！求順利沒有錯，但是更重要是求不忘記神，求神同在。神是忌邪的神，卻是不記仇的神！神允許人離開祂，離開神讓你吃了苦願意回到神面前。

How?

Honor the name of the Lord with all my heart, my strength, and my mind.

Acknowledge and take to heart this day that the Lord is God in heaven above and on the earth below. There is no other.

Deuteronomy 4:32-49

You were shown these things so that you might know that the Lord is God; besides him there is no other. From heaven he made you hear his voice to discipline you. On earth he showed you his great fire, and you heard his words from out of the fire. Because he loved your ancestors and chose their descendants after them, he brought you out of Egypt by his Presence and his great strength, to drive out before you nations greater and stronger than you and to bring you into their land to give it to you for your inheritance, as it is today.

Acknowledge and take to heart this day that the Lord is God in heaven above and on the earth below. There is no other.

Cities of Refuge: The cities were these: Bezer in the wilderness plateau, for the Reubenites; Ramoth in Gilead, for the Gadites; and Golan in Bashan, for the Manassites.

This is the law Moses set before the Israelites. These are the stipulations, decrees and laws Moses gave them when they came out of Egypt.

The Lord is God in heaven above and on the earth below. There is no other... Keep his decrees and commands... so that it may go well with you.

Three cities of refuge cast of the Jordan.

Why?

Moses once again claims the importance of the Lord to Israelites. Besides Him there is no other. There is no other God who can help them, loves them.

No gods spoke to them and show to them in fire and cloud and voice.

沒有其他民族有神在火、雲中說話且能存活！摩西告訴他們這些事，要知道只有耶和華是他們的神。神為何如此善待他們?神沒有欠他們！不是因為以色列人比較好或是有美德、文化！唯一的原因是神愛以色列人的列祖。

神的恩慈是無條件的，但是這個世界要得到人的好處、禮遇，一定要有能力，付出。

河東只有兩個半支派，卻設立三個逃城，表示神對他們比較放心，所以要摩西在河東設立三個逃城，且有利未人住在逃城？

以下則是摩西重述神的律法，重新教導以色列人。申命記：重申律法。

How?

There is no other God in this world to me, Worship the Lord and obey word of the Lord is my hope and my blessing.

The Lord your God is a consuming fire, a jealous God

Deuteronomy 4:15-31

You saw no form of any kind the day the Lord spoke to you at Horeb out of the fire. Therefore watch yourselves very carefully, so that you do not become corrupt and make for yourselves an idol, an image of any shape.

Be careful not to forget the covenant of the Lord your God that he made with you; do not make for yourselves an idol in the form of anything the Lord your God has forbidden.  For the Lord your God is a consuming fire, a jealous God.

If you then become corrupt and make any kind of idol, doing evil in the eyes of the Lord your God and arousing his anger, I call the heavens and the earth as witnesses against you this day that you will quickly perish from the land that you are crossing the Jordan to possess. You will not live there long but will certainly be destroyed. The Lord will scatter you among the peoples, and only a few of you will survive among the nations to which the Lord will drive you. 

For the Lord your God is a merciful God; he will not abandon or destroy you or forget the covenant with your ancestors, which he confirmed to them by oath.

The Lord is God in heaven above and on the earth below. There is no other... Keep his decrees and commands ... so that it may go well with you.

Why?

The Lord is a consuming fire, a jealous God when his people turn away and worship any idols that will have perished. It likes a woman married but betrayed his husband, his husband will abandon her.

Moses had warned Israelites before they entered the promised land. It is sad what Moses said come true and they were scattered to many countries. 

For the Lord is a merciful God, God would not abandon his covenant with his people. Always is us make the Lord sad for we are fall in the sins.

How?

Be a servant of the Lord, give up myself, and obey God's word. For God is good.
