How to get eternal life?

Matthew 19:1-30
God created male and female at beginning. For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh’. So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.
Some one has marriage, someone does have marriage. The one who can accept this should accept it.
The kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these , the little children come to Jesus.
How to get eternal life?
1) obey the commandments. 2) If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor and you will have treasure in heaven. 3)Then come, follow me.
Who then can be saved? Jesus said, "With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible."
But many who are first will be last, and man who are last will be first.
The rabbis disagreed about divorce. some allowed it for anything that displeased the husband; others oly for unfaithfulness. Jesus goes back to God's purpose for man and woman at the very beginning. That is how god meant it to be. Moses, dealing with a situation that fell far short of the ideal, placed a restriction on divorce. Jesus says that adultery is the only legitimate reason.
Why?
God has joined together, so we have to obey God's word, do not separate, no divorce to Christian.
The standard seems too high to Jesus' followers and he recognizes this: it is too hard without God's help. 
Even so celibacy(獨身) is not the answer for most people(it was very unusual for Jews). Jesus is one of those who forgo(放棄) marriage to carry out a special commission from God.
How?
Love my wife with God's love and help. So as get the eternal life need God's help.

Love others with unlimited forgiveness.

Matthew 18:12-35
Father in heaven is not willing that any of these little ones should be lost.
Your brother sins and could won your brother over or he refuses to listen even to the church, treat him as you would a pagan or a tax collector. Personal. take two brothers along then tell it to the church, Three steps to won our brother over.
Where two or three come together in my name, there am I with them.
How many time shall I forgive my brother? Jesus answered, "I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times."
The parable of the unmerciful servant: God forgive us huge debt of sins, so we should treat others with mercy when others own me.
This is how my heavenly Father will treat each of you unless you forgive your brother from your heart.
Why?
In the new community wrongdoing matters; every effort must be made to set the defaulter right.
Unlimited forgiveness is expected of those who enjoy the limitless forgiveness of God.
The point is the immeasurable extent of our 'debt' to God, compared to anything we may have to forgive out fellow human beings.
Here are the lesson to us that how to treat brother sin against us and how to love others with unlimited forgiveness. Even he did something wrong, but we should forgive him for God loves us, I am not perfect.
How?
Love others with unlimited forgiveness.

Whoever humbles himself like child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven

Matthew 18:1-11
Whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.
Whoever welcomes a little child like this in my name welcomes me.
Anyone causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin. Woe to the the world because of the things that cause people to sin!
See that you do not look down on one of these little ones. Angles will see and report to the Lord.
This is Matthew's fourth teaching section, on relationships in the new community.
God's kingdom operates by totally different standards from the world's.
Status-seeking is out. So is the policy of 'the weakest to the wall', On the contrary, the spiritually weak are the special responsibility of the strong.
Why?
Humble is the basic requirement to a Christian. Then welcomes a little one, do not look down any one, love others with love, for Jesus loves us and die for our sin.
Look down other is lift up myself.
Life in God's community: Humble, pure heart like a little child, live others with compassion.
How?
Humbles myself and love others with compassion.

Faith as small as a mustard seed, nothing will be impossible for you

Matthew 17:14-27
Why couldn't we drive it out? Jesus replied, "Because you have so little faith. If you have faith as small as a mustard seed, nothing will be impossible for you"
About pay tax, Jesus said "From whom do the kings of the earth collect duty and taxes - from their won sons or from others? "From others," Peter answered." But so that we may not offend them go to the lake and throw out your line. Take the first fish you catch; open its mouth and you will find a four-drachma coin. Take it and give it to them for my tax and yours."

The Roman silver denarius was a day's pay for laborers in Jesus' time. In his story of the 'Good Samaritan', the innkeeper was given two denarii to look after the injured man.
Why?
If we have faith there is nothing impossible to us. God will help us to complete it. Things in God's will!
Everyone need to pay the tax to the government, so Jesus pay the tax either, but he has his way to make it, because Jesus is Son of God and he is stayed on the earth a while.
How?
Christian needs faith in daily life to do everything.

Get up,” he said. “Don’t be afraid

Matthew 17:1-13
Jesus was transfigured before before them, Peter , James and John.
A bright cloud covered them, and a voice from the cloud said, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased. Listen to him!
Get up,” Jesus said. “Don’t be afraid.
Why then do the teachers of the law say that Elijah must come first?
Jesus replied, “To be sure, Elijah comes and will restore all things. But I tell you, Elijah has already come, and they did not recognize him, but have done to him everything they wished. In the same way the Son of Man is going to suffer at their hands.
Why?
Peter, James and John saw the transfiguration of Jesus, they met the Lord on the hill. It is the evidence of Jesus is came from the heaven.
And the voice from cloud is same when Jesus was baptized by John.
Jesus is one more time reveal he will be suffering by men as John the Baptist.
Jesus knew he is on the way to be crucified. But He told his disciples do not be afraid.
Facing the miracle or anything, get up don't be afraid Jesus is with me!
How?
Get up don't be afraid, when I walking on the way of God, I will be blessed. Get up face the future, face my everyday. Be rejoice!

Take up my cross and follow Jesus.

Matthew 16:13-28
Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.
Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by flesh and blood, but by my Father in heaven.
And I tell you that you are Peter,and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it. I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.
Jesus turned and said to Peter, “Get behind me, Satan! You are a stumbling block to me; you do not have in mind the concerns of God, but merely human concerns.
Jesus beginning to prepare his disciples for the suffering that lies ahead.
But the recent promise has gone to Peter's head. The rock becomes an obstacle. God's spokesman turns devil's advocate.
Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me.
Why?
Peter has the vision of heaven and from the flesh both. Peter is blessed for he followed Jesus way after Jesus was risen. 
Peter is the rock, and he hold the key of the kingdom of heaven.
Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of the living God, this is the real identity of the Jesus Christ.
Simon speaks for all the apostles in asserting his belief that Jesus is the Messiah. And Jesus sees in him the man of rock he will become after the shattering experience of denial and forgiveness.
It is Peter, the natural spokesman, who will be responsible more than any other for the formation of the church at Pentecost.
The authority given to Peter is given equally to the others. The idea of the keys echos Isaiah 22:22. God is no bound by whatever Peter may say. But anything done by the disciple in accordance with Christ's will is to have permanent validity.
How?
Take up my cross and follow Jesus.

Guard againt yeast of Pharisees and Sudducees

Matthew 16:1-12
The Pharisees and Sadducees came to Jesus and tested him by asking him to show them a sign from heaven. Jesus said none will be given it except the sign of Jonah. You know how to interpret the appearance of the sky, but you cannot interpret the signs of the times.
Guard against the teaching of the Pharisees and Sadducees. Working of the yeast is underground, could not be seen.
Jesus will rise from the death three days later like Jonah. There is none sign could be seen.
The Pharisees had demanded a sign once before. Now the Sadducees, the ultra-conservatives, join them in putting Jesus to the test. But his answer is still the same.
Why?
The yeast is like to see the evidence from the miracles, but it is the faith to Jesus. If teaching like Pharisees and Sadducees, they are following the law can not find the eternal life, but lost the heart of kingdom of heaven. Try to find the truth will be lost.
Yeast/leaven : An evil force, working unseen. The disciples must not be like those Pharisees and Sadduccees whose hostility(敵意) prevents them from recognizing the work of God.
How?
Don't let any evil mind came into our heart, evil fruits could be growing up.

Clean heart

Matthew 15:1-39
Pharisees and teachers of the law care the clean and unclean hand to eat. But Jesus care the clean and unclean of heart.
What goes into the man's mouth does not make him 'unclean', but what comes out of his mouth, that is what makes him 'unclean.'"
These people honor me with their lips, but their heart are far from me. They worship me in van; their teachings are but rules taught by men.
Leave them; this is the way that Jesus told his disciple how to treat the Pharisees and teachers of law.
The faith of the Canaanite woman so great that her daughter was healed by Jesus from that moment.
Why?
Dog is the position of foreigner in Israel.
This woman accepted the test of Jesus for the faith, she believe only Jesus can heal her daughter, Jesus came for the salvation of Jews, but the gentile could be saved either.
Jesus have compassion for these people so Jesus give them to eat, there were about 4000 people, besides women and children.
From the first, Jesus teaching on religion brought him into conflict with the Pharisees. For them 'tradition was blinding.
But Jesus never hesitated to denounce tradition wherever it watered down or undermined scriptural principles. The ruling on vows is a case in point. People were allowed exemption from their duty to maintain their parents if they dedicated the money to God. That way they could still enjoy the proceeds.
It is not simply 'clean hands' but a 'clean heart' that matters.
The case of the centurion's servant makes it clear that race is not a barrier: God's kingdom is inclusive. So the harsh response would seem to be a test of faith.
Quick as a flash, the woman quips back. And Jesus will not refuse a request made with such tenacious faith.
How?
Keep me having a clean heart, please give me a clean heart and righteous soul to follow Jesus. Teach me the way to walk, Dear Lord.

Take courage! It is I. Don't be afraid.

Matthew 14:22-36
Immediately Jesus made the disciples get into the boat and go on ahead of him to the other side, while he dismissed the crowd.
Jesus walks on the water. When his disciples saw him walking on the lake, they  were terrified. But Jesus immediately said to them: Take courage! It is I. Don't be afraid."
Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus. But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, "Lord, save me!"
Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. "You of little faith," he said, "why did you doubt?"
Then those who were in the boat worshiped him, saying,"Truly you are the Son of God."
Why?
Immediately, 1)Jesus left the crowd, 2)encourage Peter don't be afraid, 3)reached out his hand and caught Peter. Jesus knew he is not belong to those crowd.
Take courage, Don't be afraid. You of little faith, why did you doubt? These are the situation of me in this situation for the Loan of house.
Because Jesus is the son of God, why I has little faith, why I am afraid? Be courage! even I can not see any sign now.
Jesus is over the nature and beyond our mind and circumstances.
Only Jesus can do these miracles for He is Son of God!
How?
Trust in the Lord and Jesus Christ, He is my savior, my strong shelter and  my hope!

Five loaves of bread and two fish.

Matthew 14:1-21
John baptist was killed by Herod the tetrarch(分封). When he heard the reports about Jesus, and he said to his attendants, "This is John the Baptist he has risen from the dead! That is why miraculous powers are at work in him."
Jesus heard what had happened, he withdrew by boat privately to a solitary place.
When Jesus landed and saw a large crowd, he had compassion on them and healed their sick.
Jesus feeds the five thousand men, besides women and children with only five loaves of bread and two fish. Jesus said give them something to ear
Why?
Herod said one thing is right that Jesus will rise from the dead. And what Jesus had done is the real things.
Jesus heard the news of John he was sad, and withdrew to solitary place, away from people to calm down and pray.
But Jesus always has compassion on those who followed him. Jesus also take care the living and needed of people who is following him.
How?
Have compassion on those who lost way and hopeless people.

The treasure, and the pearl

Matthew 13:44-58
The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field and is like a merchant looking for fine pearls. he went away and sold everything he had and bought it. The value of kingdom of heaven is worth us sold everything we had and bought it. It is worthy to get it with all my life, my strength and all my property.
The kingdom of heaven has the final judgment to separate the wicked one from righteous. Both of us are gather in the church and worship the Lord, but God will separate who may enter the kingdom of heaven.
Jesus did not do many miracle in his home town because of their lack of faith. Faith is the foundation of God's work.
The treasure, and the pearl: So valuable is the kingdom, it is worth all we have to make sure of it.
The fisherman's net: This describes the sorting out of good and bad at the end of time.
Why?
Kingdom of heaven is located in our heart and will be in the future when we passed away from this world. So it have to pay our whole life to get the ticket of heaven. It is the wonderful land so it worthy for us pay all to get it. But the faith is the foundation to walk on this way to heaven. Miracle and wonder will take place on the way to heaven. For God is with us.
Every one has to face the final judgment, so careful to what my behavior is.
How?
How much faith I have then how much God can do it for me. Please give me the wisdom and help me to identify the way I should go.

Wheat and weed seeds

Matthew 13:24-43
The good seeds and the weeds: The good Christian and evil ones are distinguished by their fruit.
The parables of the Mustard Seed ad the Yeast: The kingdom of heaven may growing up has much influence among the people.
There are different consequences between sons of the kingdom and the evil one.
The wheat and the weeds. This story is concerned with the mixture of good and bad in this life, to be sorted out at the judgment.
The mustard-seed, and the yeast. From small beginnings, quietly and unnoticed, the kingdom will make great growth.
Why?
Do not worry about the evil one living with us, they will be judged at the final day.
If we have the seed of kingdom, it will growing up, won't worry or concerning it either.
The Lord even control the small and bigger one. It is the Lord let them growing up.
How?
Fear the final judgment, do the right thing and make a right choice to be a good soil of kingdom of heaven.

Response to God's word is the soil

Matthew 13:1-23
Good soil for the seed to grew up and produce a crop.
Whoever has will be given more and he will have an abundance. Whoever does not have, eve what he has will be taken from him.
Why Jesus speak to them in parables: "though seeing, they do not see; though hearing, they do not hear or understand."
Seed of gospel need good soil to grew up. Good soil is not thorn, deep soil, could yielding a hundred sixty or thirty times what was sown.
The parables about God's kingdom form Matthew's third teaching section. By using story, Jesus can teach at a number of different levels. There are layers of meaning beyond the obvious point, for those who are prepared to think.
The parables sorted out those who came simply to see miracles and be entertained, from serious followers who really wanted to understand Jesus' teaching.
He told his stories to the crowds but kept the explanation for his disciples. There was so much misunderstanding about the nature of the kingdom that Jesus makes one point at a time in these stories.
The first story. the seed and the soils, pictures the varied response his message will bring. All the others are picture-stories introduced by the words:"The Kingdom of heaven is like...'
Why?
Understand the meaning of God's word and obey his command is the one who has. Such as help the needed, poor, and have mercy to others. Give love and food to others.
Am I a good soil, have I yield a hundred sixty or thirty times what I had gotten?
How?
The response to God's word is the soil of my. Do it with wisdom from the Lord!

Respond to God is stronger even than family ties.

Matthew 12:38-50
Jesus will be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth, like Jonah threes and three nights in the belly of a huge fish.
Jesus is greater than Jonah, Solomon.
The final condition of that man is worse than the first. That is how it will be with this wicked generation. Who asked for miraculous signs. This is a wicked and adulterous generation.
Whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother.
The lawyers and Pharisees want to see Jesus do a miracle - a 'sign' that will bear out his claims. But he will not perform for their benefit. One sign only will be given - Jesus' resurrection from the dead: the incontrovertible proff that his message is true; that he is who he claims to be.
Why?
Jesus said what he will be about his dead, but no one understood it.
Jesus did many miracles but someone wanted to see these to prove the rumor about Jesus. But Jesus rejected them, Jesus is not the magician, who is the Son of God. Good news of eternal life is more important than healing.
The story is a warning to those who have repented and made the 'about-turn' in their lives as a result of what they have seen and heard. Unless they take the further step of wholehearted commitment, they are in grave danger.
Jesus' apparent lack of filial respect would have shocked his hearers, as he no doubt intended. He is making the point that the bond between those who respond to God is stronger even than family ties.
How?
Do what I have heard and then could be real Christian. Respond to God is stronger even than family ties.

Every kingdom divided against itself will be ruined

Matthew 12:22-37
Jesus is the Son of David? He is Messiah.
But the Pharisees said"It is only by Beelzebub. the prince of demons, that this fellow drives out demons." Jesus reply "Every kingdom divided against itself will be ruined, and every city or household divided against itself will not stand..."
But if I drive out demons by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God has come upon you."
He who does not with me is against me, and he who does not gather with me scatters. Anyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but anyone who speaks against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven, either in this age or in the age to come.
Out of the overflow of the heart the mouth speaks. The good man brings good thing our of the good stored up in him, and the evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in him.
By your words you will be acquitted(無罪釋放), and by your words you will be condemned.
All those quarry are still existing in this generation, and these situation of unbelief hearts are the same on the streets.
Why?
Jesus' miracles are done by Holy Spirit, for He comes from kingdom of God.
Speak every word have to be accounted on the judge day. Always say the good word to others.
If they were right, Satan would be set on a suicide course - as are all who, like the Pharisees, call good evil.
They are stubbornly denying the work of God's Spirit, and that makes it impossible for God to forgive them.
How?
Every house divided against itself will be ruined, be careful to what I say and what I will do. Please keep me with a pure heart and mind, Oh,Holy Spirit.

A bruised reed he will not break, and a smoldering wick he will not snuff out

Matthew 12:1-21
One greater than the temple is here - Jesus.
I desire mercy, not sacrifice. For the Son of Man is Lord of the Sabbath.
This is fulfill what was spoken through the prophet Isaiah. Jesus is the Lord.
“Here is my servant whom I have chosen, the one I love, in whom I delight;
I will put my Spirit on him, and he will proclaim justice to the nations.
19 He will not quarrel or cry out; no one will hear his voice in the streets.
20 A bruised reed he will not break, and a smoldering wick he will not snuff out,
till he has brought justice through to victory.
In his name the nations will put their hope.”
Why?
The antagonism(對抗) runs so deep that Jesus' life is threatened.
The Pharisees see Jesus as the devil's agent, despite the transparent goodness of his work.
Jesus came with mercy and justice, He desire mercy, not sacrifice. It is the spirit of God instead of words or the Laws.
Jesus came to save burdened people in peace but no one will hear his voice in the streets. There is commercial activity and crowd in the streets.
Jesus is the hope to the nations. Jesus is my hope. Jesus is the Messiah as described by prophet Isiah.
How?
Jesus is my hope, who desire mercy, not sacrifice. What I am worry about?



 

Come to me, and I will give you rest.

Matthew 11:20-30
People living in the cities of Israel did not repent, even Jesus had performed miracles in those cities. It is the proud of men.
Jesus is the way to the Lord, the secret is hidden fro the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children.
Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.
Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will fond rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.
Most of Jesus' miracles took place in small area at the northern end of lake Galilee, around Capernaum, Chorazin and Bethsaida.
They created much excitement. But as evidence of the coming kingdom, they were meant to change people's lives, to lead to repentance.
This did not happen, as God's judgment on their stubborn disbelief was inevitable. Ir people of Tyre ad Sodom - even Sodom - had seen what they had seen, they would have been in sackcloth and ashes to show grief for their sins and their intention to change.
t was the ordinary fold who received Jesus - and he was glad. TO all who are worn down by burdens, he offers relief.
Why?
Proud men won't need Jesus, and they know the Law but they could not have the new life from Jesus.
When we have pure heart and humble mind, it is possible really know the Jesus and his word.
Come to Jesus, every one who are weary and burdened may rest in Jesus. This is the good news to everyone who come to Jesus.
How?
Be humble and do not proud in my heart, I am a sinner as others, there is a long way to the most high in my life.

The proof of the pudding is in the eating

Matthew 11:11-19
The kingdom of heaven has been forcefully advancing, and forceful men lay hold of it.
For all the Prophets and the Law prophesied until John.
Whoever has ears, let them hear.
For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, ‘He has a demon.’ The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say, ‘Here is a glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners.
Wisdom is proved right by her actions.
Jesus may be referring to Zealot militants(武裝分子), from whom he disassociated himself or to the fact that the kingdom opens its gates to those who are desperate.
Like sulky(生氣) children, Jesus' contemporaries(同時代) refuse to ' play weddings' with him, or to 'play funerals' with John. They will listen neither to good news, nor to warnings.
This is God's Wisdom, The sentence means that 'the proof of the pudding is in the eating.'
Why?
John, though he heralds Christ's new kingdom, belongs to the old order, and at this point remains outside it.
So the humblest person within the kingdom is more privileged than John.
Enter kingdom of heaven needs to pay ticket or efforts.
Everyone has hear but it does not means they can hear gospel, someone heard Gospel but they may not understood.
There is not other prophets in this world now.
If people do not believe in Jesus they will have thousand reasons to reject Him.
How?
Do not frustrate in preaching good news, only the chosen men could enter the kingdom of heaven.

Blessed is anyone who does not stumble on account of me

Matthew 11:1-10
Jesus replied, “Go back and report to John what you hear and see:  The blind receive sight, the lame walk, those who have leprosy are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the good news is proclaimed to the poor.  
Blessed is anyone who does not stumble on account of me.
I will send my messenger ahead of you, who will prepare your way before you.  
Mal. 3:1 -- I will send my messenger, who will prepare the way before me. Then suddenly the Lord you are seeking will come to his temple; the messenger of the covenant, whom you desire, will come,” says the Lord Almighty.
Why?
John  held prisoner by Antipas, he expected the Messiah to come in judgment. Jesus' reply reminds John of the other aspect of Messiah's work, which he is fulfilling.
Jesus thinks no less of John for his doubts. He is the greast of prophets, the latter-day Ellijah predicted by Malachi(4:5).
Jesus is the Foundation of faith and he is the way to the Lord. He is the first stone of the truth.
When people lost free or under prisoner, he may frustrated in everything, even to the Jesus Christ. Jesus is fulfilling in Messiah's work.
How?
Do not lost the faith, for Jesus is my savior, my hope, and my God.

Reward and worthy of me

Matthew 10:34-42
Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword.
Anyone who loves their father or mother more than me is not worthy of me.
Whoever finds their life will lose it, and whoever loses their life for my sake will find it.
Whoever does not take up their cross and follow me is not worthy of me.
And if anyone gives even a cup of cold water to one of these little ones who is my disciple, truly I tell you, that person will certainly not lose their reward
Why?
The division is a result of Jesus teaching. The Bible often expresses consequences as if they were deliberate intention.
Whoever finds: i. e. Those who deny their faith to save their skins.
Suffering for Jesus, faith to Jesus is higher than family relationship.
Everyone has his own cross to bear and following Jesus Christ.
Following Jesus is the right and narrow way.
How?
Trust in God and following the way of Jesus. Thw rewards are waiting for me!

Be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell.

Matthew 10:24-33
A student is not above his teacher, nor a servant above his master. If the head of the house has been called Beelzebub, how much more the members of his household!
So do not be afraid of them. There is nothing concealed that will bot be disclosed, or hidden that will not be made known.
Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell. He is the Lord.
Whoever acknowledges me before men, I will acknowledge him before my Father in heaven.
Beelzebub: Even Jesus' enemies do not deny that he casts out demons. But they do their best to discredit him. The Jews seem to have taken the name of a heathen god, which in their own language sounded like 'lord of dung', and applied it to a demon chief, perhaps Satan.
The housetop: The flat roof of the house was a favourite place for gossip and discussion.
Why?
Respect the order in house and society. Respect each others on the world.
Jesus is the Lord, Jesus is son of God, how can be call Beelzebub?
Acknowledges Jesus, means knowing God, Jesus is came from heaven.
Do not be afraid of them, but respect and afraid God, for He can destroy both body and soul in hell.
Only God, not Satan, has this power.
How?
Acknowledge Jesus then acknowledge God, it is the truth, the life and the way of life.

He who stands firm to the end will be saved

Matthew 10:21-23
All men will hate you because of me, but he who stands firm to the end will be saved.
When you are persecuted in one place, flee to another.
I tell you the truth, you will not finish going through the cities of Israel before the Son of Man comes.
Why?
The subject is authority/sovereignty, not Jesus' second coming. The reference here may be to his triumphant return from death at the resurrection.
Because of the different value of life even family member will hate Christians, his parent or brothers.
Be smart like snake, flee to save place when persecution comes.
Stand firm to the end will be saved in heaven.
Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for their is the kingdom of heaven.
How?
Be as shrewd as snakes and as innocent as dove and persistent to do good witness before gentiles, this is the life of Christian to live in these evil world.

Matthew 10:16-20
Missionary like sheep among wolves, therefore be as shrewd as snakes and as innocent as doves. (身段柔軟，會找縫隙，不大聲喧嘩：純潔的心，沒有惡意。)Polite and tender altitude and find the chance to deliver the good message, working with pure heart and mind.
On Jesus account you will be brought before governors and kings as witness to them and to the Gentiles.
When they arrest you, do not worry about what to say or how to say it. for it will not be you speaking, but the Spirit of your Father speaking through you.
Now, having called them, he sends them out for the first time, with his own authority to heal.
He gives them their instructions and warns them of the kind of reception they are likely to get, both now and in the future. They are to expect hardship, to trust in God's care and to fear no one.
Why?
There are danger places to preach gospel, so we have to smart like snake and with pure heart like doves, let people like us and find the good chance to be good witness and bring good news to them.
On Jesus account there are suffering will come, be courage and won't worry what to say, Holy Spirit will help us to say the right word and do the good witness among Gentiles.
We are suffering for God's account but not for our sins or fault.
How?
Trust in God's care and to fear no one to preach good news. Be as shrewd as snakes and as innocent as doves.

The kingdom of heaven is near

Matthew 10:1-15
Jesus called his twelve disciples to him and gave them authority to drive out evil spirits and to heal every disease and sickness.
Their mission is go to the lost sheep of Israel. Not Gentiles.
The kingdom of heaven is near.
Do not take along any gold or silver or copper in your belts, for the worker is worth his keep.
The choice and training of this inner ring of disciples was a vital part of Jesus' mission.
The word 'apostle' means 'messenger', and the task of spreading the word about Jesus would rest with them after his death.
Why?
The authority is more power than any physical material but can not be purchased healthy and spiritual body. Christian has the authority from the Lord if we follow his way and word.
First step to Jesus disciple began from Israel, for they are their neighbor. Preaching Gospel is starting from our neighbor. They are living with us, then go more far away.
The good news is 'The kingdom of heaven is near': It is the chance for everyone to get into the kingdom of God, but only one way to their - repent and follow the way of Jesus.
It is peace at that moment so they do not have to bring any money for begs for themselves.
How?
The kingdom of heaven is near, be repent and follow Jesus or there is not much time to wait!

Preaching the good news of the kingdom

Matthew 9:32-38
The crowd was amazed and said,"Nothing like this has ever seen in Israel." The man who had been mute spoke.
When Jesus saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.
The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest filed.
This is Matthew's second teaching section and other parallel passages.
Jesus' pity for the people, God's 'harvest', leads straight into the account of his selection of the 'Twelve'
Why?
Jesus who 1)preaching the good news of the kingdom. 2)driving out demon-possessed men, 3)healing every disease and sickness, Who can do it like Jesus, Jesus is son of God.
Crowd follow Jesus, but Jesus had not proud or joy but with compassion on them. Like there are crowd in Tainan who like sheep without a shepherd, They are harassed and helpless.
Harassed and helpless: Wondering and no way to go, lost direction, grasping anything they can touched.
All of those harvest are belong to the Lord, so to be God's work needs pray to the Lord and work with the Lord.
How?
Preaching the goo news of the kingdom, this is my mission from the Lord. Do it like Jesus.

Your faith has healed you

Matthew 9:18-31
Take heart,your faith has healed you. Jesus said to the women who had been subject to bleeding for 12 years.
Come and put your hand n her and she will live.
The girl is not dead but asleep. Jesus tool the girl by the hand, and she got up.
Jesus healed the blond men, Jesus asked them "Do you believe that I am able to do this?" "Yes , Lord," They replied.
Jesus' daughter: the woman with a haemorrhage(出血); two blind men. The reason for secrecy is not explained. Presumably Jesus is anxious to avid his miracles gibing people the wrong ideas about his mission.
Why?
Three story described that faith is the basic of healing and from dead to live.
Jesus has the power to heal the sickness and blind man, and make give us life.
How?
Faith is the foundation to follow Jesus, for Jesus is the Lord, Trust in Him and give honor to Him.

Jesus gives us a new covenant

Matthew 9:14-17
John wondered Jesus and his disciples do not fast.
Fast is needed but when Jesus is with them on the earth they do not need to fast like when bridegroom is with them they do not need to mourn.
It is not the time to fast when Jesus is with them, but when He is taken from them, they will fast.
New covenant is come so do not use old idea to limit it. Jesus described the story of sews a patch of unshrunk cloth on an old garment and pour new wine into old wine-skins.
Why?
His radically new teaching cannot be squeezed into the mould of the old legalism. It must find new forms of expression, or the old will be destroyed and the new spoilt.
How?
Follow Jesus and understand the truth, Don't be a legalism. Jesus is the way, the life and the truth

Christian is not a legalism but is the way of new life.

Matthew 9:9-13
Jesus said I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.
Jesus called Matthew who was  ta collector. Jesus was having dinner at Matthew's house. many tax collectors an "sinner" came an ate with him an his disciples.
The tax collector is called Levi, and the feast is held at his house. Matthew may have been Levi's first name, as 'Peter' was Simon's.
Why?
Jesus presence in such company scandalizes the religious Pharisees. John's followers are also puzzled. Why does Jesus feast whereas John fasted? Luke gives Jesus' answer most clearly.
His radically new teaching cannot be squeezed into the mould(模子) of the old legalism.
Matthew wanted to describe Jesus is the savior of sinners, if anyone who think he is a righteous man then he won't need Jesus.
Follow me: Listened this calling, Matthew followed Jesus. To be a rich man but spiritual is poor,so he was following Jesus.
How?
Christian is not a legalism but is the way of new life to a sinner.

Authority on earth to forgive sins

Matthew 9:1-8
Why you entertain evil thoughts in our hearts?
Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins.
The man with paralysis. Jesus uses the physical healing as proof of the spiritual cure: the man's forgiveness
Why?
When evil mind in our heart, such as envy, unfair, grieve... We are easy appear the bad motivation.
Jesus is Son of Man, who has authority on earth to forgive sins, and healing diseases.
Man's forgiveness in over the physical healing. Let people has spiritual cure, spiritual free from sins.
How?
Don't always think others are worse and admire their good. Be humble and polite.

The cost of following Jesus

Matthew 8:18-34
Foxes have dens and birds have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay his head. No place or house in the world.
Lord, first let me go and bury my father.  Follow the Lord need timing.
Follow me, and let the dead bury their own dead. Dead means no life and no active mind, living like dead man.
Even the winds and the waves obey him. Jesus is the Lord, who has the power over nature.
Two demon-possessed men were healed by Jesus. But the whole town out to meet Jesus. And when they saw him, they pleaded with him to leave their region. They were afraid of Jesus and may be more care about their property, the pigs, than the two men's free life.
Jesus response to two would-be followers provides a lesson on commitment.
Matthew has the story of Jesus' control of the wild and violent storm immediately followed by the calming of two wild and violent men. In their accounts, Mark and Luke focus on just one of them men.' Legion' or 'Mob'. They may draw on a different tradition. Or perhaps Matthew has in mind the two witnesses required for a valid testimony under Jewish law.
Jesus restores both men to sanity. But the residents of Gadara - one of the Ten Towns 10 Km south-east of the Lake- were so scared that they sent Jesus away.
Why?
Follow Jesus need commitment to give up all in this world. It need to pay the cost to be sons of God.
How?
Can I pay the cost of following Jesus? I like to do my best.

The Lord of healing

Matthew 8:1-17
The centurion believed that Jesus has authority to say something, then it will be done.
Jesus said to the centurion, “Go! Let it be done just as you believed it would.” And his servant was healed at that moment.
He took up our infirmities and bore our diseases (Isaiah 53:4)
Why?

• Jesus responds to human need. Teaching preaching and healing go together; 
• his authority is expressed in what he says and what he does.
• The leper. To the Jew lepers were unclean, untouchable. Jesus could have healed the man with a look, or a word - instead he reaches out and touches him.

The Centurion's boy. Jesus' mission is to Israel, but nowhere among his own people has he found faith to equal that of the Roman officer who recognized authority when he saw it.

How?

Jesus is my Lord, trust in Him. Be courage to follow him and do what Jesus said.
