Deuteronomy 24:14-32

Do not take advantage of a hired worker who is poor and needy, whether that worker is a fellow Israelite or a foreigner residing in one of your towns. 

Parents are not to be put to death for their children, nor children put to death for their parents; each will die for their own sin.

Do not deprive the foreigner or the fatherless of justice, or take the cloak of the widow as a pledge. 

When you are harvesting in your field and you overlook a sheaf, do not go back to get it. Leave it for the foreigner, the fatherless and the widow, so that the Lord your God may bless you in all the work of your hands.

Leave what remains for the foreigner, the fatherless and the widow.

Remember that you were slaves in Egypt. That is why I command you to do this.

No one may be punished for another's offense; no parents for their children nor children for the parents. Ruth and Naomi were just two of the widows and foreigners who benefited from the harvesting rules spelt out in verses 19-22.

Why?

Love the poor and needy and foreigner and widows for we are children of the Lord. God is love so we should love the weak and needy people.

Sin is a personal consequence, so parents are not to be put to death for their children, so as to reverse.

Foreigners and fatherless have no protection from their relatives, need our justice and love.

積極面照顧孩兒寡婦。忘記禾綑就不去拿，收割時田的一角留給其他人收。讓困苦窮乏的人，憑自己勞力得到供應，活的有尊嚴！

照顧孤兒寡婦也要憑公義審判，不可忽略，犯罪的人自己要傳代價，即使孤兒寡婦犯罪不能因為愛而忽略！

Deuteronomy 24:1-13

Her first husband, who divorced her, is not allowed to marry her again after she has been defiled. That would be detestable in the eyes of the Lord. Do not bring sin upon the land the Lord your God is giving you as an inheritance.

Do not take a pair of millstones—not even the upper one—as security for a debt, because that would be taking a person’s livelihood as security.

If someone is caught kidnapping a fellow Israelite and treating or selling them as a slave, the kidnapper must die. You must purge the evil from among you.

When you make a loan of any kind to your neighbor, do not go into their house to get what is offered to you as a pledge. Stay outside and let the neighbor to whom you are making the loan bring the pledge out to you. If the neighbor is poor, do not go to sleep with their pledge in your possession. Return their cloak by sunset so that your neighbor may sleep in it. Then they will thank you, and it will be regarded as a righteous act in the sight of the Lord your God.

Moses is not instituting divorce, though there must be genuine grounds and the rejected wife must be given a certificate. The issues are remarriage and, perhaps, the protection of the second marriage. Contrast Jesus' teaching on divorce.

Even in exercising their rights. God's people are to be thoughtful of others. To take away one millstone, for example, left the other useless for grinding flour to make the day's bread. 

Why?

Treat the wife with love for God cares for us. Not even the divorce certificate, marriage is under the permission of the Lord.

Do not take a pair of millstones and treat kindly to our neighbor for our rich and property is the blessing of the Lord, Treat others kind to fee back to our Lord.

婚期第一年不要當兵屬於積極面！新婚的人最重要是他的妻子！要建立家庭！需要一年時間來管理磨合建立家庭，比國家大事還重要！社會國家的組成是家庭！沒有國還是有家，但是沒有家庭，一定沒有國！

休妻以後不可後悔。看到不合宜的事，可能是某些不雅的事，無關姦淫！只是前夫個人的喜好，沒有犯罪，婚姻不可因為個人喜好隨意說離婚，隨意對待自己的妻子。同樣對待教會弟兄姊妹，愛是不求自己的益處！

借貸也不可剝奪生存最基本的必須品！人基本生存權要被照顧到！拐賣入口也是禁止的。

米利暗不尊重摩西的家庭，愛是不帶給人麻煩！大麻瘋會傳染所以要

Deuteronomy 23:15-25

If a slave has taken refuge with you, do not hand them over to their master.  Let them live among you wherever they like and in whatever town they choose. Do not oppress them.

No Israelite man or woman is to become a shrine prostitute.

Do not charge a fellow Israelite interest, whether on money or food or anything else that may earn interest. You may charge a foreigner interest, but not a fellow Israelite.

If you make a vow to the Lord your God, do not be slow to pay it, for the Lord your God will certainly demand it of you and you will be guilty of sin. Whatever your lips utter you must be sure to do.

If you enter your neighbor’s vineyard, you may eat all the grapes you want, but do not put any in your basket.

Practical humanity.

Why?

God's people should have a good attitude on their own.

Treat the slave kindly

Don't become prostitutes even poor or lose the job.

Do not charge a fellow Israelite interest, for they are their brothers. What we have is the mercy of the Lord comes upon us.

Whatever your lips utter you must be sure to do. Be a trusted man, don't be a liar.

Everything on the land we may eat but we can grasp the effers of others have done.

耶和華的會： 聖殿獻祭，不潔淨的人不能進入。生殖器官被割的人。參予服事的人必須要聖潔。亞捫和摩押人一直與以色列人為敵，所以不許這些人進聖殿。埃及人等可以進入，所以外邦人可以進入。教會不可沾染世俗。不用世界的原則。閹割的人是異教服事的人。

營地髒亂的地方，神不願同在。所以人必須妥善管理聖地所在及人佳的地方。神同在的地方要使人得自由。

自己同胞不可取利，因為他們已經很困難了，所以不可趁火打劫！

許願不是為了交換，而是為了感恩！所以許願一定要還願！

以色列人都有款待客人的義務，但是客人不可強奪主人的財務。我們要幫助人，有需要的人，但是有人在消費神的恩典，這是不允許的。例如有人只來教會吃愛宴，卻偷懶不工作。

Keep away from everything impure

Deuteronomy 23:1-14

No one who has been emasculated by crushing or cutting may enter the assembly of the Lord.

No one born of a forbidden marriage nor any of their descendants may enter the assembly of the Lord, not even in the tenth generation.

No Ammonite or Moabite or any of their descendants may enter the assembly of the Lord, not even in the tenth generation.

Do not despise an Edomite, for the Edomites are related to you. Do not despise an Egyptian, because you resided as foreigners in their country. The third generation of children born to them may enter the assembly of the Lord.

When you are encamped against your enemies, keep away from everything impure.

Designate a place outside the camp where you can go to relieve yourself.  For the Lord your God moves about in your camp to protect you and to deliver your enemies to you. Your camp must be holy, so that he will not see among you anything indecent and turn away from you.

Member of the congregation;  The Lord's community is both inclusive and exclusive. It is marked by purity and holiness.

Why?

God is holy so his people's identity, living style, and environment have to keep away from everything impure.

A forbidden marriage not any of their descendants enter the assembly of the Lord is asking God's people has a good marriage. Keep the society under correct custom.

How?

My God is Holy so I have to Hoty either. Keep away from everything impure.

Marriage Violations

Deuteronomy 22:13-30

Then her parents shall display the cloth before the elders of the town, and the elders shall take the man and punish him. They shall fine him a hundred shekels of silver and give them to the young woman’s father, because this man has given an Israelite virgin a bad name. She shall continue to be his wife; he must not divorce her as long as he lives.

If, however, the charge is true and no proof of the young woman’s virginity can be found, she shall be brought to the door of her father’s house and there the men of her town shall stone her to death. 

If a man is found sleeping with another man’s wife, both the man who slept with her and the woman must die. You must purge the evil from Israel.

If a man happens to meet in a town a virgin pledged to be married and he sleeps with her, you shall take both of them to the gate of that town and stone them to death.

But if out in the country a man happens to meet a young woman pledged to be married and rapes her, only the man who has done this shall die. Do nothing to the woman; she has committed no sin deserving death.

If a man happens to meet a virgin who is not pledged to be married and rapes her and they are discovered, he shall pay her father fifty shekels of silver. He must marry the young woman, for he has violated her. He can never divorce her as long as he lives.

A man is not to marry his father’s wife; he must not dishonor his father’s bed.

These are rules which encourage attitudes of mutual help and care, and c concern for sexual purity.

Why?

Respect the marriage. for this is the holy life before God. Israelite is different as Cannanite for Cannanites have complicated sex relationship. It is detestable behavior.

We are sons of the Lord so we have lived like Jesus, with good behavior and have the right marriage relationship.

聖潔的婚姻關係

1.懷疑新婚妻子的貞潔。保障婦女的條款

2.和已經有婚約的女子行淫，不是兩情相悅的事都可以做！

3.和沒有婚約的女子行淫，罰款50舍克勤，娶她是否保障這個女子的權益，因為沒有人會娶她。這個條款不是在報復，而是在解決問題，一輩子照顧她。

4.不可娶父親的妾，掀開衣襟。路得記中用你的衣襟遮蓋我，就是請娶我為妻！

混亂的性關係也是迦南地的惡習。人不是物品，試婚並不合理！即使購物，商家也不喜歡人家先試用，不好退還。吃點東西，不好吃不付錢。一個人在婚姻中不願意改變自己，必定會分開。許多人都只想享樂，不想負責任，試婚是自私的想法。

God is holy so we should have holy life every day!

Do not ignore it.

Deuteronomy 22:1-12

Do the same if you find their donkey or cloak or anything else they have lost. Do not ignore it.

A woman must not wear men’s clothing, nor a man wear women’s clothing, for the Lord your God detests anyone who does this.

If you come across a bird’s nest beside the road, either in a tree or on the ground, and the mother is sitting on the young or on the eggs, do not take the mother with the young. You may take the young, but be sure to let the mother go, so that it may go well with you and you may have a long life.

When you build a new house, make a parapet around your roof so that you may not bring the guilt of bloodshed on your house if someone falls from the roof.

Do not plant two kinds of seed in your vineyard; if you do, not only the crops you plant but also the fruit of the vineyard will be defiled.

Do not plow with an ox and a donkey yoked together. Do not wear clothes of wool and linen woven together. 

Lost animals and lost property; keeping the sexes distinct; birds' nesting; building, framing, clothing.

Why?

Love among people, not only to man but also to the animal, respect lift of every living animal. 

Keep distinguishing sex, wear the right clothes. For we are made in God's feature.

Take care when we build a house and root should care about others life and danger.

互助且不侵犯，要積極幫助維護對方的財產。不可佯為不見！

神的創造就是好的，男女有別！尊重神起初的創造。基因改造也是違反神的創造，難道神的創造不好嗎？

抓母鳥，雛鳥也活不了，造成物種滅絕。神造萬物，使人可以取用，但是不可濫用、濫殺。人抓母鳥是圖自己的方便，不用再養！如此生活以致失去長遠的益處。如此我們好像犧牲，其實是有利於自己！

圍欄是防犯未然！明知有危險，要去防犯。對於罪惡的引誘要逃避！

不可參雜是指信仰不可參離，不要以為只是生活習慣、文化。一開始很容易以為沒有關係卻容易落入撒旦的計倆！

衣服有繸子，和別人不一樣，提醒以色列人和外邦人是不一樣的。從生活中基本的地方做起，和外邦人有所不同！分別為聖的！

God sets basic values and dignity on every human life.

Deuteronomy 21:10-23

Marrying a Captive Woman has mercy and good treatment.  If you are not pleased with her, let her go wherever she wishes. You must not sell her or treat her as a slave, since you have dishonored her.

He must acknowledge the son of his unloved wife as the firstborn by giving him a double share of all he has. That son is the first sign of his father’s strength. The right of the firstborn belongs to him.

This son of ours is stubborn and rebellious. He will not obey us. He is a glutton and a drunkard.”  Then all the men of his town are to stone him to death. You must purge the evil from among you. All Israel will hear of it and be afraid.

If someone guilty of a capital offense is put to death and their body is exposed on a pole, you must not leave the body hanging on the pole overnight. Be sure to bury it that same day, because anyone who is hung on a pole is under God’s curse.

The treatment of women captives here is in marked contrast to the cruel practices of neighboring nations. Their pagan background is no barrier to marriage. In terms of the salvation story. Joseph's marriage to the daughter of an Egyptian priest, and matter of fact, with no hint of censure.

The normal risk of favoritism within the family is made worse by polygamy. The rights of the firstborn need protection.

The disobedient son of verses 18-21 is in deliberate and repeated breach of the fifth commandment. The community is responsible for dealing with him.

Why?

All of these treatments are different from other nations. God asked his people to treat anyone with equal rights and no favoritism. No matter what he is where he came from or what his position is. Both have been equal treatment.

Even the rebellion son is the responsibility of the community.

第一件與第二件比較有關係。1)娶被擄的女子： 先潔淨的觀念，身份轉換不再是外邦人……以仁慈來對待她。不是鼓勵娶外邦女子。2)不可輕易廢長子。不可因為不喜歡其母親而失去長子的地位。神沒有喜歡以色列人不喜歡外邦人。人喜歡分本國、外國，教會也會分許多小圈圈，已婚、未婚、成人分別變成小圈圈的結黨紛爭

第三對待不孝的孩子。藐親父母親等於藐親神。

第四是對待受死的犯人。

一個社會的組成是家庭，家庭有問題，如利百加愛次子，以撒愛以掃，這會引發亂源。

用神的愛、仁慈來對待我們周圍的人、事、物。
