This is the law of the Nazirite who vows offerings to the Lord in accordance with their dedication

Numbers 6:1-21

If a man or woman wants to make a special vow, a vow of dedication to the Lord as a Nazirite,  they must abstain from wine and other fermented drink and must not drink vinegar made from wine or other fermented drink. They must not drink grape juice or eat grapes or raisins.  As long as they remain under their Nazirite vow, they must not eat anything that comes from the grapevine, not even the seeds or skins. 

During the entire period of their Nazirite vow, no razor may be used on their head. They must be holy until the period of their dedication to the Lord is over; they must let their hair grow long.

Throughout the period of their dedication to the Lord, the Nazirite must not go near a dead body. Even if their own father or mother or brother or sister dies, they must not make themselves ceremonially unclean on account of them.

Now this is the law of the Nazirite when the period of their dedication is over. They are to be brought to the entrance to the tent of meeting. There they are to present their offerings to the Lord: a year-old male lamb without defect for a burnt offering, a year-old ewe lamb without defect for a sin offering, a ram without defect for a fellowship offering,  together with their grain offerings and drink offerings, and a basket of bread made with the finest flour and without yeast—thick loaves with olive oil mixed in, and thin loaves brushed with olive oil.

This is the law of the Nazirite who vows offerings to the Lord in accordance with their dedication, in addition to whatever else they can afford. They must fulfill the vows they have made, according to the law of the Nazirite.

Why?

The Nazirite vows mean this man belongs to the Lord. He is dedicated to the Lord.

So there are a few regulations, 1) cannot drink wine or drink grape juice or eat grapes or raisins. 2) No razor on their head 3) must not go near a dead body.

To keep Nazirite be Holy and clean before the Lord, for the Lord is Holy.

To be a Nazirite for at least 30 days, or maybe the whole life, such as Samuel, Samson, and John Baptise.

前一章是比較消極的做法,查章則是積極的過聖潔的生活。拿細耳人即歸主的人,分別為聖的人,離俗歸耶和華。

拿細耳人條件:沒有條件、男女,只要有此心志就可以。主要是講過這樣的方法。任何酒、醋都不可喝。完全不碰任何的酒,這已經超越祭司的規範。不可吃葡萄或是相關產品,葡萄是生活中很普通的食物,因此他要放棄,也和道德沒有關係,為了福音,為了主的緣故,放下許多理所當然的東西,放棄基本的權利。

不可剪頭髮:這也是生活習慣和別人不一樣,外表和別人不同,即不去追求目前的流行。價值觀,所追求的和一般人不一樣。

不可以靠近死屍:不通人情,這是神把拿細耳人視為大祭司,和大祭司一樣的本質。以神的事工為主。

我們當愈來愈知道神的愛,因此我們願意更愛神!

 不小心碰到葡萄或是產品,或是有人在旁邊死了,拿細耳人的日期重新計算。

滿期還俗: 獻贖罪祭(沒有要歸給祭司,只有大祭司的贖罪祭不給祭司,而是全燒掉,平安祭(向前搖,歸給神,再向後搖,表示這是從神那裏得到、素祭。亞倫的後代才可以成為大祭司,這裏拿細耳人沒有任何工作,沒有得到什麼,只是過分別為聖一過神喜悅的生活。從拿細耳人還俗手續複雜,可以知道神喜悅我們成為拿細耳人。我們先求神的國和他的義,我們所需要的神都供應。

Be careful to make a vow before the Lord, for our Lord is Holy and faithful. So we don't need to make a vow either.

The way to solve camp unclean and jealousy come over husband and his wife

Numbers 5:1-31

The Lord said to Moses, Command the Israelites to send away from the camp anyone who has a defiling skin disease or a discharge of any kind, or who is ceremonially unclean because of a dead body. Send away male and female alike; send them outside the camp so they will not defile their camp, where I dwell among them.” The Israelites did so; they sent them outside the camp. They did just as the Lord had instructed Moses.

The Lord said to Moses, “Say to the Israelites: ‘Any man or woman who wrongs another in any way and so is unfaithful to the Lord is guilty and must confess the sin they have committed. They must make full restitution for the wrong they have done, add a fifth of the value to it and give it all to the person they have wronged.  But if that person has no close relative to whom restitution can be made for the wrong, the restitution belongs to the Lord and must be given to the priest, along with the ram with which atonement is made for the wrongdoer.

Speak to the Israelites and say to them: ‘If a man’s wife goes astray and is unfaithful to him so that another man has sexual relations with her, and this is hidden from her husband and her impurity is undetected (since there is no witness against her and she has not been caught in the act),  and if feelings of jealousy come over her husband and he suspects his wife and she is impure—or if he is jealous and suspects her even though she is not impure—  then he is to take his wife to the priest. He must also take an offering of a tenth of an ephah[c] of barley flour on her behalf. He must not pour olive oil on it or put incense on it, because it is a grain offering for jealousy, a reminder-offering to draw attention to wrongdoing.

The priest is to write these curses on a scroll and then wash them off into the bitter water.  He shall make the woman drink the bitter water that brings a curse, and this water that brings a curse and causes bitter suffering will enter her. The priest is to take from her hands the grain offering for jealousy, wave it before the Lord and bring it to the altar. The priest is then to take a handful of the grain offering as a memorial[e] offering and burn it on the altar; after that, he is to have the woman drink the water.  If she has made herself impure and been unfaithful to her husband, this will be the result: When she is made to drink the water that brings a curse and causes bitter suffering, it will enter her, her abdomen will swell and her womb will miscarry, and she will become a curse.  If, however, the woman has not made herself impure, but is clean, she will be cleared of guilt and will be able to have children.

Why?

Anyone who wrongs another in any way must make full restitution for the wrong they have done, add a fifth of the value to it.

This is the penalty for our wrongdoing.

The Lord is our judge, so husband and wife come to the priest let the Lord be their judgment. No one knows but the Lord knows who is right or wrong.

神與人的關係及人與人的關係,如的夫妻關係一樣不可有嫌隙、懷疑,人要聖潔,不要有污穢。

神要人守貞潔,如夫妻關係。以懷孕比喻,表示生命得以延續。

大痲瘋表示人是有罪,罪會不斷擴散。患漏症代表生命的流失,碰屍體表示和罪的最後就是死亡,和罪有關連。

讓別人有財務損失的,還要加1/5,即賠120%。人要先承認所犯的罪,賠償,然後才能去獻祭。不是祭物的關係,而是人先有悔改的心。

以妻子可能不潔淨為例,指的是一切人之間的誤會,懷疑、不信任。婦女懷孕代表祝福,地位也改變了。若是有罪,肚子也變大,卻不是懷孕,站立不穩。

為什麼當時沒有來試驗丈夫的手續。聖經不是改變當時的文化,習俗,人在神的手中,任何攻擊、誣陷,神都會為他伸冤。

Count all the men from thirty to fifty years of age who come to serve in the work at the tent of meeting

Numbers 4:1-49

The Lord said to Moses and Aaron: “Take a census of the Kohathite branch of the Levites by their clans and families. Count all the men from thirty to fifty years of age who come to serve in the work at the tent of meeting.

They are to take all the articles used for ministering in the sanctuary, wrap them in a blue cloth, cover that with the durable leather and put them on a carrying frame.

“After Aaron and his sons have finished covering the holy furnishings and all the holy articles, and when the camp is ready to move, only then are the Kohathites to come and do the carryingBut they must not touch the holy things or they will die. The Kohathites are to carry those things that are in the tent of meeting.

Eleazar son of Aaron, the priest, is to have charge of the oil for the light, the fragrant incense, the regular grain offering and the anointing oil. He is to be in charge of the entire tabernacle and everything in it, including its holy furnishings and articles.

The Lord said to Moses, “Take a census also of the Gershonites by their families and clans. Count all the men from thirty to fifty years of age who come to serve in the work at the tent of meeting.

This is the service of the Gershonite clans in their carrying and their other work: They are to carry the curtains of the tabernacle, that is, the tent of meeting, its covering and its outer covering of durable leather, the curtains for the entrance to the tent of meeting,  the curtains of the courtyard surrounding the tabernacle and altar, the curtain for the entrance to the courtyard, the ropes and all the equipment used in the service of the tent. The Gershonites are to do all that needs to be done with these things.

Count the Merarites by their clans and families. Count all the men from thirty to fifty years of age who come to serve in the work at the tent of meeting. As part of all their service at the tent, they are to carry the frames of the tabernacle, its crossbars, posts and bases, as well as the posts of the surrounding courtyard with their bases, tent pegs, ropes, all their equipment and everything related to their use. Assign to each man the specific things he is to carry. This is the service of the Merarite clans as they work at the tent of meeting under the direction of Ithamar son of Aaron, the priest.

So Moses, Aaron and the leaders of Israel counted all the Levites by their clans and families. All the men from thirty to fifty years of age who came to do the work of serving and carrying the tent of meeting numbered 8,580. At the Lord’s command through Moses, each was assigned his work and told what to carry.

Why?

The Levites to serve the Lord are claimed clearly, years from thirty to fifty. there are twenty years that may serve the work of the meeting. This is the golden age in our life.

Kohathite, Gershonites, and  Merarites branches of the Levites may serve the Lord. They were chosen by the Lord. So as we become Christians chosen by the Lord.

All of the servants of the Lord do different jobs in churches and the minister does the jobs like Arron. To be a servant in Church we have the order in every service. And different talented people cooperate to serve the churches of the Lord.

數點30歲到50歲的利未人。只要是利未人天生就有服事神的使命。而30~50歲正值生命成熟,能力裝備達到一定程度。服事神需要訓練、被裝備才能服事神。

遮羞出現14次,哥轄的人他們去抬的時候,不可碰到,看到聖物,他們是最榮耀的,卻也是最危險的。若不小心碰到不該碰的會被擊殺,所以祭司要先去遮蓋。在他們的服事中有人,有祭司為他們承擔風險。哥轄的人最容易看到祭司的榮耀工作。

陪伴:亞倫要陪伴這些服事的利未人,教會中同樣要有人來遮蓋,承擔所有的活動,最後是耶穌基督來保守遮羞教會領袖。

革順在祭司吩咐後才能搬。不是自己想做就做,不能隨己意來做,教會中的事也要有規範。例如講台上。東西比較輕,人數也比較少

米拉利搬的東西最重,所以人數最多。

50歲以上的人要訓練30歲以下的年輕人,屬靈生命要長保年輕,即不斷追求、生命繼續成長,與神的關係增長。不是停滯不前!

Take the Levites for me in place of all the firstborn of the Israelites

Numbers 3:40-51

The Lord said to Moses, “Count all the firstborn Israelite males who are a month old or more and make a list of their names. Take the Levites for me in place of all the firstborn of the Israelites, and the livestock of the Levites in place of all the firstborns of the livestock of the Israelites. I am the Lord.” 

The total number of firstborn males a month old or more, listed by name, was 22,273.

To redeem the 273 firstborn Israelites who exceed the number of the Levites,  collect five shekels for each one, according to the sanctuary shekel, which weighs twenty gerahs.  Give the money for the redemption of the additional Israelites to Aaron and his sons.”

From the firstborn of the Israelites he collected silver weighing 1,365 shekels, according to the sanctuary shekel. Moses gave the redemption money to Aaron and his sons, as he was commanded by the word of the Lord.

Why?

The total number of Levites counted at the Lord’s command by Moses and Aaron according to their clans, including every male a month old or more, was 22,000. So there are less 273 Levites and the Lord asked Israelites need to pay exceed the number of the Levites.

The firstborn sons belong to the Lord. If back in the ancient time I am the firstborn, I belong to the Lord either.

第三章數滿歲以上的利未人,下一章講30歲以上的利未人。他們是全時間的教會行政同工,代替全會眾來服事神。

利未人在摩西下山時關鍵的時刻,表態願意悔改,因此被神揀選服事神。服事神本來是全以色列人的事,結果變成利未人,所以若好好服事神,珍惜服事的機會,神就會幫助、揀選我們。常常在主面前反省、悔改。

先選滿月以上的,因為以前為小孩存活率不高,只要是利未人的身份,就有使命、責任來服事神。數點軍隊是20歲以上可以打仗的,這裏只要具有利未身份。即現在要服事神同樣不要什麼能力,只要身份對,是屬於神的身份。

祭司是利未人的首領,安營在會幕的東邊。任何人要進入會幕都要透過祭司。

長子由利未人來替代,但是還差273人,所以全體以色列人要分攤是否273人的費用,贖價。舊約強調合體性,今天教會也是一樣,全教會肢體要分擔其他軟弱者的需要。當我們不能承擔主的使命時,神會興起其他人來承擔。

The Levites are mine, for all the firstborn are mine

Numbers 3:1-39

This is the account of the family of Aaron and Moses at the time the Lord spoke to Moses at Mount Sinai.

The names of the sons of Aaron were Nadab the firstborn and Abihu, Eleazar and Ithamar. Those were the names of Aaron’s sons, the anointed priests, who were ordained to serve as priests. Nadab and Abihu, however, died before the Lord when they made an offering with unauthorized fire before him in the Desert of Sinai. They had no sons, so Eleazar and Ithamar served as priests during the lifetime of their father Aaron.

Appoint Aaron and his sons to serve as priests; anyone else who approaches the sanctuary is to be put to death.

The Lord also said to Moses, “I have taken the Levites from among the Israelites in place of the first male offspring of every Israelite woman. The Levites are mine, for all the firstborn are mine. When I struck down all the firstborn in Egypt, I set apart for myself every firstborn in Israel, whether human or animal. They are to be mine. I am the Lord.

The Lord said to Moses in the Desert of Sinai, Count the Levites by their families and clans. Count every male a month old or more.” So Moses counted them, as he was commanded by the word of the Lord.

To Gershon belonged the clans of the Libnites and Shimeites; these were the Gershonite clans. The number of all the males a month old or more who were counted was 7,500.

To Kohath belonged the clans of the Amramites, Izharites, Hebronites and Uzzielites; these were the Kohathite clans.  The number of all the males a month old or more was 8,600.

To Merari belonged the clans of the Mahlites and the Mushites; these were the Merarite clans. The number of all the males a month old or more who were counted was 6,200. 

Moses and Aaron and his sons were to camp to the east of the tabernacle, toward the sunrise, in front of the tent of meeting. They were responsible for the care of the sanctuary on behalf of the Israelites. Anyone else who approached the sanctuary was to be put to death.

Why?
In the old testament, only the family of Aron could be priests to serve the Lord. After Jesus came, everyone accepted Jesus as our Lord and repented our sins, we could be servants of the Lord. For Jesus became our way to build a new relationship between us and the Lord.

The Lord knows the number of everyone who serve the Lord in faith and love

How?

To be a Christan is the love of the Lord comes upon us, so we should love others either.

Camping aroung the meeting in sequence

 Numbers 2:1:34

The Lord said to Moses and Aaron: The Israelites are to camp around the tent of meeting some distance from it, each of them under their standard and holding the banners of their family.”

On the east, toward the sunrise, the divisions of the camp of Judah are to encamp under their standard. The leader of the people of Judah is Nahshon son of Amminadab.  His division numbers 74,600.

The tribe of Issachar will camp next to them. The leader of the people of Issachar is Nethanel son of Zuar. His division numbers 54,400.

The tribe of Zebulun will be next. The leader of the people of Zebulun is Eliab son of Helon. His division numbers 57,400.

On the south will be the divisions of the camp of Reuben under their standard. The leader of the people of Reuben is Elizur son of Shedeur. His division numbers 46,500.

The tribe of Simeon will camp next to them. The leader of the people of Simeon is Shelumiel son of Zurishaddai. His division numbers 59,300.

The tribe of Gad will be next. The leader of the people of Gad is Eliasaph son of Deuel. His division numbers 45,650.

Then the tent of meeting and the camp of the Levites will set out in the middle of the camps. They will set out in the same order as they encamp, each in their own place under their standard.

On the west will be the divisions of the camp of Ephraim under their standard. The leader of the people of Ephraim is Elishama son of Ammihud. His division numbers 40,500.

The tribe of Manasseh will be next to them. The leader of the people of Manasseh is Gamaliel son of Pedahzur. His division numbers 32,200.

The tribe of Benjamin will be next. The leader of the people of Benjamin is Abidan son of Gideoni. His division numbers 35,400.

On the north will be the divisions of the camp of Dan under their standard. The leader of the people of Dan is Ahiezer son of Ammishaddai. His division numbers 62,700.

The tribe of Asher will camp next to them. The leader of the people of Asher is Pagiel son of Okran. His division numbers 41,500.

The tribe of Naphtali will be next. The leader of the people of Naphtali is Ahira son of Enan. His division numbers 53,400.

Why?

The people of the Lord should be living in sequence around the Lord. So the Lord asked Moses to arrange for 12 tribes to camp around the meeting.

Keeping some distance around the meeting is protecting them don't come closer and caused them to be killed.

How?

Our life should be in sequence either, for our Lord is working in his way and sequence.

Numbers:The total number was 603,550 who were able to serve in Israel's army

 Numbers 1:1-54

The Lord spoke to Moses in the tent of meeting in the Desert of Sinai on the first day of the second month of the second year after the Israelites came out of Egypt. He said: Take a census of the whole Israelite community by their clans and families, listing every man by name, one by one. You and Aaron are to count according to their divisions all the men in Israel who are twenty years old or more and able to serve in the army. One man from each tribe, each of them the head of his family, is to help you.

The number from the tribe of Reuben was 46,500.

The number from the tribe of Simeon was 59,300.

The number from the tribe of Gad was 45,650.

The number from the tribe of Judah was 74,600.

The number from the tribe of Issachar was 54,400.

The number from the tribe of Zebulun was 57,400.

The number from the tribe of Ephraim was 40,500.

The number from the tribe of Manasseh was 32,200.

The number from the tribe of Benjamin was 35,400.

The number from the tribe of Dan was 62,700.

The number from the tribe of Asher was 41,500.

The number from the tribe of Naphtali was 53,400.

All the Israelites twenty years old or more who were able to serve in Israel’s army were counted according to their familiesThe total number was 603,550.

The ancestral tribe of the Levites, however, was not counted along with the others. The Lord had said to Moses: “You must not count the tribe of Levi or include them in the census of the other Israelites.

Why?
After the Israelites learned the laws of the Lord in the desert, next they have to enter the promised land to fight with people in the land, the Lord let them know how many people can serve in Israel's army.

We have to know what we have and what we haven't before served the Lord. And understand what the mission of the Lord is. This is the attitude of serving the Lord.

The terrible Levites has the job to serve the Lord, so they did not count in the war.

已經脫離埃及,建立會幕,公佈律法,從得救到完全得贖是民數記要表達的。

要和神建立親密關係。利未記講人與神建立關係。先要有神同在,這是至聖所內親近的關係。這樣子才能進入曠野,才能打仗!我們常常向主求能力,能力從神建立親密關係,有聖潔生活,自然會結出聖靈的果子。

第一年在建立會幕,

第二年有才建立軍隊,不是按照武器、軍種、體格來分,不是按照外在來分,而是按照家室、宗主來分。家庭、家譜的結構很重要,有家人支持讓軍隊沒有後顧之憂。神看重關係,不是看重能力,看重軍隊之間的關係。

12個族長先找出來。

數點軍隊:猶大最多,神使用我們有的,不會使用人沒有的。使用每個人的恩賜!

利未人在打仗的事上不用數點,不參加打仗。確保以色列人一直有神同在,維持信仰、聖潔的生活。

以色列人在會幕四圍安營是為了保護以色列人,以免被擊殺。在教會是自由,但是不是隨便!
