Humble myself and pay attention to the Lord

Jeremiah 13:1-27
The Lord asked Jeremiah used a belt to metaphor 'In the same way He will ruin the pride of Judah and the great pride of Jerusalem, they will be like this belt-completely useless!'
Every wineskin should be filled with wine. When they asked 'Don't we know that every wineskin should be filled with wine?' Everyone in Jerusalem will fill with drunkenness, all against the other,  God will allow no pity or mercy or compassion to keep from destroying them.
Can the Ethiopian change his skin or the leopard it spots? Neither can you do good who are accustomed to doing evil.
Why?
God makes use of may teaching methods to get his message across. The prophets sometimes act out their message. The garment Jeremiah conceals so that it will be spoiled is variously translated loin-cloth, belt and shorts.
Actions often speak louder and Jerusalem will be thoroughly ruined, like his garment. He was full of grief at announcing God's vengeance, through he had earlier cried out for it: If you will not listen... I will cry bitterly.
The people was pride so they did not listen to the warning of the Lord.
The Lord used parables, belt, wineskin and skin of Ethiopian and leopard could not changed to describe the stiff-necked people of Jerusalem.
How?
Humble ourselves is the basic step in present of the Lord. Humble then we can hear the voice of the Lord.
Pay attention to the Lord ! Have I heard His voice, His call? Do more! Give more! Be more! Who am I? What is my position? (from the 12/30/2012 Pastor Jimmy sermon in Church)

Do not ask the Lord why

Jeremiah 12:1-17
Jeremiah complained to the Lord, why does the way of the wicked prosper? Why of all the faithless live at ease? How long will the land lie parched and the grass in every field be withered? Moreover, the people are saying, "He will not see what happens to us."
The Lord answered Jeremiah,  Do not trust them, though they speak well of you. I will forsake my house, abandon my inheritance. Over all the barren heights in the desert destroyers will swarm, for the sword of the Lord will devour from one end of the land to the other; no one will be safe.
The Lord will uproot them from their lands and I will uproot the house of Judah from among them. After I uproot them, I will again have compassion and will bring each of them back to his own inheritance and his own country. And if them learn well the ways of my people and swear by my name, they will be established among my people.
Why?
The discovery leads Jeremiah to question God about the way evil people get on in the world. He is neither the first, nor the last, to puzzle over this.
In answer, God tells him there is worse to come! Nonetheless, he will punish, and afterwards restore.
The Jordan runs below sea-level from Lake Galilee to the Dead Sea; and in Old testament times the river was bordered by dense, steamy thickets which were the haunt of wild animals.
House, inheritance, vineyard: Metaphors for the nation.
The Lord has compassion to his people, even they have done evil, he uproot them, after punished them he bring each of them back to their own land.
How?
Do not ask the Lord why, the Lord has his own plan and mercy to all of his creatures. Learn his way and swear by his holy name. I will be established among his people.

The Lord, his righteous endure forever

Jeremiah 11:1-23
Israel and Judah do not obey the terms of the covenant- God made with their forefathers when they had been brought out of Egypt. They have returned to the sins of their forefathers, who refused to listen to God's words. They have followed other gods to serve them.
They have as many gods as they have towns of Judah; and the altars you have set up to burn incense to that shameful god Bass are as may as the streets of Jerusalem.
Do not pray for this people nor offer any plea or petition for them, because I will not listen when they call to me in the time of their distress.
Because the Lord revealed their plot to Jeremiah, he knew it - they planed to cut him off from the land of the living, for at that time he showed he what they were doing. Jeremiah pray to the Lord, let him see the vengeance upon them, for he has committed his cause.
The men of Anathoth said 'Do not prophesy in the name of the Lord or you will die by our hands', so the Lord said,' Nor even a remnant will be left to them, because I will bring disaster on the men of Anathoth in the year of their punishment.'
The evidence of sins what men of Judah have done are very clear and serious, so the wrath of the Lord poured upon them, even no one left there.
Why?
The terns of God's covenant-agreement with his people, made at Sinai after the exodus, are still in force.
By persistent disobedience to God's law, and by idol-worship, Judah has broken that agreement and come under the curse.
Jeremiah must go and tell the people. Nor does God want him to pray on their behalf. it sounds as if God has had may such pleas from the prophet!
Jeremiah's message aroused such intense anger that the people of Anathoth, his home town, were prepared to kill him if he didn't stop. It i God keeping his promise to protect the prophet, who alerts Jeremiah to the danger.
How?
The Lord is good, his wrath came is for his righteous, people die in his own sins, the Lord had let them know his warning. Jeremiah pray to the Lord for his people, so I should continue pray for my friends and relatives turn to the Lord. The Lord

A man's life is not his own

Jeremiah 10:1-25
Do not learn the ways of nations or be terrified by signs in the sky, though the nations are terrified by them. Do not fear them; they can do no harm nor can they do any good.   Talk about the idols.
The Lord is the true God; he is the living God, the eternal King. When he is angry, the earth trembles; the nations cannot endure his wrath.
They are all senseless and foolish; everyone is senseless and without knowledge; every goldsmith is shamed by his idols.
Jeremiah's prayer: I know, O Lord, that a man's life is not his own; it is not for man to direct his steps. Correct me, Lord, but only with justice- not in your anger, lest you reduce me to nothing.
Why?
Idols made by human hands, no matter how elaborate they may be, are lifeless, powerless, motionless, speechless. Not so the God of Israel.
It was he, not they, who created earth and sky. Now this same God is poised to destroy them.
Jeremiah's prayer on his people's behalf
Before I understood the Lord, I was terrified by the gods, their face and image. Now I know the truth, then I do not fear those idols. I fear the Lord, he is my king, my fortress and my savior.
How?
O Lord, man's life is not his own, it is in your hands, please judge me only with justice - not in your anger. May my life glorify your name.

Boasts about that he understands and knows God almighty

Jeremiah 9:1-26
Beware of your friends; do not trust your friends. For every brother is a deceiver, and every friend a slanderer. You (Jeremiah) live in the midst of deception; in their deceit they refuse to acknowledge me.
What man is wise enough to understand this? Who has been instructed by the Lord and can explain it? Why has the land been ruined and laid waste like a desert that no one can cross?
Let not the wise man boast of his wisdom or the strong man boast of his strength or the rich man boast of his riches, but let him who boasts boast about this: that he understands and knows me, that I am the Lord, who exercises kindness, justices and righteousness on earth for in these I delight," declares the Lord.
The whole house of Israel is uncircumcised in heart, they has same punishment as other uncircumcised nations.
Why?
Jeremiah shares God's own deep grief at his people's sin and its tragic consequences.
Society is sick: sick s a direct result of the nation abandoning God an his laws and going their own way. So inevitable has judgment become that the professional mourners can already be called in.
All Judah and Israel are full of deceit and lie.
Despite the outward mark of his covenant, God's people have made themselves like the pagan nations around. And like them will be punished.
People pursues the wisdom, strength and rich, all of these are shame when they do not know the Lord.
How?
Real wisdom is acknowledge the Lord, it is not the wisdom on the world. What I am pursuing for? let pursuing to acknowledge the God almighty.

Why those events happened? It is a reminder to us from God

Jeremiah 8:1-22
All the bones, kings, officials, priests or people of Jerusalem, will be exposed to the sun and the moon. They will not be gathered up or buried, but will be like refuse lying on the ground.
When men fall down, do they not get up? When a man turns away, does he not return? Why then have these people turned away? why does Jerusalem always turn away? They cling to deceit; they refuse to return.
The stork, dive, swift and thrush observe the time of their migration. But my people do not know the requirement of the Lord.
The wise will be put to shame; they will be dismayed and trapped. Since they have rejected the word of the Lord, what kind of wisdom do they have?
Why are we sitting here? Gather together! Let us flee to the fortified cities and perish there! For the Lord our God has doomed us to perish and given us poisoned water to drink, because we have sinned against him. We hope for peace but no good come, for a time of healing but there was only terror.
Is there no balm in Gilead? Is there no physician there? Why then is there no healing for the wound of my people?
The Lord and prophet asked may "why". These stiff-necked people.
Why?
It is not always clear here whether the speaker is Jeremiah, God or the people.
Jeremiah shares God's own deep grief at his people's sin and its tragic consequences.
Society is sick: sick as a direct result of the nation abandoning god an his law and going their own way. So inevitable has judgment become that the professional mourners can already be called in.
Gilead was famous for its healing ointment from very early times.
How?
Ask myself why? Why those event happened? Many of it has the plan of God, may be is a warning to me, may be is a sign to us, may be is a testimony to us. God is good.

Reform your ways and your actions

Jeremiah 7:1-34
The Lord says: Reform your ways and your actions, and I will let you live in this place. Do not trust in deceptive words and say,"This is the temple of the Lord!"
Go now to the place in Shiloh where I first made a dwelling for my Name, and see what I did to it because of the wickedness of my people Israel.
This is what the Sovereign Lord says: My anger and my wrath will be poured out on this place, on man and beast, on the trees of the filed and on the fruit of the ground, and it will burn and not be quenched.
This is what the Lord Almighty, the God of Israel, says: I gave your forefather this command: Obey me, and I will be your god and you will be my people . Walk in all the ways I command you, that it may go well with you. But they did not listen or pay attention. Instead, they followed the stubborn inclinations of their evil heart.
Why?
The people refuse to repent. They are aided ad abetted by religious smooth-talkers: the scribes, the 'wise' to whom they turned for advice. the prophets and the priests. All alike are motivated by self-interest.
Shiloh was the place where the ark of God was sit there, but it was captured by Philistines in the fighting field, the place was destroyed. So the Jerusalem will be like Shiloh.
Reform our ways and actions, take care the aliens and fatherless, helpless people. It is more important than worship and sacrifice the Lord.
This is the Temple of the Lord, this is the church of God. Instead, walk in all the ways God command us. All the way, no part of the ways.
The Lord is Sovereign Lord, is the Lord almighty. He reigns over place, man, beast, trees and the fruit of ground, everything.
How?
Obey and walk in all the ways God has commanded us.
