Psalm 18:1-50
The Lord has rewarded me according to my righteousness, according to the cleanness of my hands in his sight.
To the faithful you show yourself faithful, to the blameless you show yourself blameless, to the pure you show yourself pure, but to the devious, you show yourself shrewd.
27 You save the humble but bring low those whose eyes are haughty.
28 You, Lord, keep my lamp burning; my God turns my darkness into light.
29 With your help I can advance against a troop; with my God, I can scale a wall.
For who is God besides the Lord? And who is the Rock except our God?
He gives his king great victories; he shows unfailing love to his anointed, to David and to his descendants forever.
David's song when God saved him from Saul and all his other enemies.
It is a revised version of the song recorded in 2 Samuel 22. The outburst of love and praise, and the cataclysmic terms in which David describes God's rescue, give some idea of his previous desperation. He owes his life, his triumphs, his throne, everything to God.
Why?
God is faithful and savior to those who obey God's word and searching the Lord.
When we honor the name of the Lord and live with faith, humble, and love, righteousness, God will reward us with his greatness.
Keep my lamp burning, means keep my life longer.
My portion and my cup are in his hands of the Lord, God has made it already in front of my way.

How?
Praise to the Lord for his greatness, his righteousness, and his love for me.

Rise up, Lord, confront them, bring them down
Psalm 17:1-15
I call on you, my God, for you will answer me; turn your ear to me and hear my prayer.
Show me the wonders of your great love, you who save by your right hand those who take refuge in you from their foes.
Keep me as the apple of your eye; hide me in the shadow of your wings from the wicked who are out to destroy me, from my mortal enemies who surround me.
They close up their callous hearts, and their mouths speak with arrogance. They have tracked me down, they now surround me, with eyes alert, to throw me to the ground. They are like a lion hungry for prey, like a fierce lion crouching in cover.
Rise up, Lord, confront them, bring them down; with your sword rescue me from the wicked.
As for me, I will be vindicated and will see your face; when I awake, I will be satisfied with seeing your likeness.
David like Jobm is certain of his own integrity and this is the basis of his plea.
Why?
David was surrounded by his enemy, so he prayed to the Lord for salvation and delivery.
David asked the Lord to judge him that he is righteous. Please listen to his prayer.
David asked the Lord to look at him when the Lord looks him he knew he will be saved.
Enemies like a lion hungry for prey, so same as the sins.

You are my Lord; apart from you I have no good thing
Psalm 16:1-11
I say to the Lord, “You are my Lord; apart from you I have no good thing.”
Those who run after other gods will suffer more and more. I will not pour out libations of blood to such gods or take up their names on my lips.
Lord, you alone are my portion and my cup; you make my lot secure.
The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; surely I have a delightful inheritance.
I will praise the Lord, who counsels me; even at night my heart instructs me.
I keep my eyes always on the Lord. With him at my right hand, I will not be shaken. because you will not abandon me to the realm of the dead, nor will you let your faithful one see decay.
The psalmist places all his trust in God, and in God finds everything he needs. Those who set their hearts on God and put their lives in his hands find joy and security for the present and need not fear the future.
Why?
Everything good to me is God's blessing and favor.
To praise the Lord I won't run after other gods or materials, fashions.
God makes my lot secure and leads my way secure.

What God requires
Psalm 15:1-5
Lord, who may dwell in your sanctuary? Who may live on your holy hill?
He whose walk is blameless and who does what is righteous, who speaks the truth from his heart and has no slander on his tongue, who does his neighbor no wrong and casts no slur on his fellowman, who despises a vile man but honors those who fear the Lord, who keeps his oath even when it hurts, who lends his money without usury and does not accept a bribe against the innocent.
He who does these things will never be shaken.
This psalm prepares the questioner may be a pilgrim come for one of the great festivals for worship at the Temple,
What does God require of the one who seeks his company? He expects right conduct, right speaking, right relationships with others and a right use of wealth.
Why?
A few conditions are God requires,1)Mouth: walking on the right way, speak with truth, 2)relationship: does his neighbor no wrong and casts no slur on his fellowman, 3)Evil: despises a vile man 4)Trustworthy: keeps his oath even when it hurts 4) Money: lends his money without usury, does not accept a bribe.
How?
This is the way of life never be shaken. I will follow it.

You evildoers frustrate the plans of the poor, but the Lord is their refuge
Psalm 14:1-7
The fool says in his heart, “There is no God.” They are corrupt, their deeds are vile; there is no one who does good. The Lord looks down from heaven on all mankind to see if there are any who understand, any who seek God.
Do all these evildoers know nothing? They devour my people as though eating bread; they never call on the Lord.
You evildoers frustrate the plans of the poor, but the Lord is their refuge. Oh, that salvation for Israel would come out of Zion! When the Lord restores his people, let Jacob rejoice and Israel be glad!
Society is corrupt; the bias to sin universal. In willful blindness, humans pit themselves against a God who not only exists but punishes and avenges every aggressive act against his people.
Why?
Most people who are doing evil, this society is corrupt. But the Lord in heaven looks down on all mankind to see if there are any who understand and seek God.
The Lord knows our hearts and will judge everyone has done on the world.
God is salvation for Israel and is the poor's refuge.

O Lord my God. Give light to my eyes
Psalm 13:1-6
How long, O Lord? Will you forget me forever? How long will you hide your face from me?
How long must I wrestle with my thoughts and every day have sorrow in my heart? How long will my enemy triumph over me?
Look on me and answer, O Lord my God. Give light to my eyes, or I will sleep in death; my enemy will say, "I have overcome him," and my foes will rejoice when I fall.
But I trust in your unfailing love; my heart rejoices in your salvation. I will sing to the Lord, for he has been good to me.
In his misery, it seems to the psalmist that God has forgotten him. How much longer must he bear it? Will only death bring an end to it? No! All his past experience assures him he will again have cause to thank God for his goodness.
Why?
How long? how long? shows the patient is almost gone, waiting time is hard to a trusted man. But it let us gain faith in the Lord.
In misery, the psalmist was felt sad and almost lost the trust, but in his experience, he trusts in the God and believes the Lord will save him.
Give light to my eyes, asked the Lord to open his eyes to look at the work of the Lord.
People are looking at the appearance of the world, but God has a better way and trained us to trust in Him and walking on his way.
How?
Pray to the Lord and trust in the Lord, for God is heard what we prayed. In his righteousness and love, God will not forsake us.

The words of the Lord are flawless, like silver purified in a crucible
Psalm 12:1-8
Help, Lord, for no one is faithful anymore; those who are loyal have vanished from the human race.
May the Lord silence all flattering lips and every boastful tongue.
Because the poor are plundered and the needy groan, I will now arise,” says the Lord. “I will protect them from those who malign them.”
And the words of the Lord are flawless, like silver purified in a crucible, like gold refined seven times.
You, Lord, will keep the needy safe and will protect us forever from the wicked, who freely strut about when what is vile is honored by the human race.
Surrounded by those whose word cannot be trusted, the psalmist puts his faith in the utterly dependable promises of God.
Why?
Many arrogant and untrusted men around us, who we can trust, so pray to the Lord help us wisdom to identify whose word could be trusted. And only the words of the Lord are trustworthy.
God will judge this world and all human beings.
------------------------------------
