Be silent, Be ashamed, the pride of all glory

Isaiah 23:1-18
Be silent, you people of the island and you merchants of Sidon, whom the seafarer have enriched.
Be ashamed, O Sidon, and you, O fortress of the sea, for the sea has spoken" I have neither been in labor nor given birth; I have neither reared sons nor brought up daughters."
The Lord Almighty planned it, to bring low the pride of all glory and to humble all who are renowned on the earth.
At that time Tyre will be forgotten for seventy years, the span of a king's life. But at the end of these seventy years, the Lord will deal with Tyre. She will return to her hire as a prostitute and will ply her trade with all the kingdoms on the face of the earth. Her profit and her earnings will be set apart for the Lord.
For centuries Tyre and Sidon (two Phoenician cities on the coast of modern Lebanon) dominated the sea-trade in the eastern Mediterranean. Tyre's colonies, of which Cyprus was the nearest, were widespread. And the city's merchantmen ventured as far afield as the Indian Ocean and the English Channel.
In 722/1 the city fell to Sargon of Assyria. In 701 the ruler of Tyre fled to Cyprus as Sennacherib approached. Assyria declined, Tyre regained its power, only to lost it again to the Babylonians.
Why?
70 years: Probably a round figure, meaning a lifetime.
The judgement of the Lord comes not only Israel and Judah but also the whole world, every nation.
Tyre after seventy years will turn to the Lord at that day.
Proud man and rich man should be silent and be shame before the Lord. All of these are the grace of the Lord. It is the Lord them this opportunity and talent.
How?
Knowing the Lord Almighty, humble myself  for I am the servant of the Lord.

Eliakim son of Hilkiah

Isaiah 22:1-25
An oracle concerning the Valley of Vision- Jerusalem.
The Lord Almighty, has a day of tumult and trampling and terror in the Valley of Vision, a day of battering down walls and of crying out to the mountains.
You built a reservoir between the two walls for the water of the old Pool, but you did not look to the One who made it, or have regard for the One who planned it long ago.
The Lord Almighty called you on that day to weep and to wail, to tear out your hair and put on sackcloth,. But see, there is joy and revelry, slaughter of cattle and killing of sheep, eating of eat and drinking of wine!"Let use eat and drink, for tomorrow we die!" you say.
The Lord Almighty has revealed this:" Till your dying day this sin will not be atoned for" says the Lord Almighty.
In that day God will summon his servant, Eliakim son of Hilkiah(God build, a man fear the Lord). God let him has authority. He will be a father to those who live in Jerusalem and Judah. God will place on his shoulder the key to the house of David; what he opens no one can shut, and what he shuts no one can open.
God will drive him like a peg into a firm place, All the glory of his family will hand on him.
In that day, the peg driven into the form place will give way; it will be sheared off and will fall, and the load hanging on it will be cut down.
Who is Eliakim son of Hilkiah? However verses 22-25 seem to cross reference Revelation 3:7-13 which describes the missionary church, Philidelphia, where Jesus says he will open doors and no one will be able to shut them. Is Eliakim Jesus or is Jesus in the line of Hilkiah? Why would the wording of Revelation 3:7 match the wording of Isaiah 22:22 except for us to draw a connection between the two.
Eliakim means "Resurrection of God" in Hebrew - or "God will Develop." Hilkiah means "Portion of Jehovah (YHWH)". In these two names, do we not see a picture of our Lord and Savior, who is Himself a portion of Jehovah, and God in Resurrection? He is a member of the Trinity - the Three-in-One - Have you seen this Elder Yonah?
Why?
Weep and wail as God weep, repent out sin, don't ignore the warning of the Lord.
Jesus Christ is the key to house of David. He has authority and in that day (first)- Savior was born, in that day(second)- he went on the cross.
How?
Honor the name of God, He is worthy to worship. Remember what the Lord has done for us and everything is created by Him.

watchman

Isaiah 20-21
Isaiah has gone stripped and barefoot for three years, as a sign and portent against Egypt and Cush. The king of Assyria will lead away stripped and barefoot the Egyptian captives and Cushite exiles. with buttocks bared - to Egypt's shame.
An oracle concerning the Desert by the Sea: Like whirlwinds sweeping through the south land, an invader comes from the desert from a land of terror. A dire vision has been shown to me: The traitor betrays, the looter takes loot. Elam, attack! Media, lay siege! I will bring to an end all the groaning she caused.
Babylon has fallen, has fallen! All the images of its gods lie shattered on the ground!
Isaiah is the watchman. The Lord says to Isaiah: Go, post a lookout and have him report what he sees.
An oracle concerning Arabia, "within one year, as a servant bound by contract would count it, all the pomp of Kedar will come to an end.
Why?
v1,The year is 711 BC, when the Assyrian crushed the Philistine rebellion at Ashdod. The support expected from Egypt had not materialized.
It was a startling demonstration(like Ezekiel's dramatic actions) of the coming captivity of Egypt, designed to warn his people to place no reliance on help from that quarter.  In 701 BC Egypt was defeated by Assyria.
The 'wilderness' or 'desert by the sea' is Babylonia. The downfall of Babylon will be good new to the captives from Israel. Even so, Isaiah is appalled by what he foresees. Being 'seer ' is painful and costly business.
There is temporary respite for Edom- but judgment was to follow(34:5)
Not even the remote tribes of Arabia will escape the long arm of Assyria.
Watchman says what the Lord let him sees.
To be a servant of the Lord, do what the Lord says even it is a shame matter- reveal the sign of God.
How?
Could I be a watchman of the Lord? If the Lord gives me the sign or oracle. I could be a preacher and counselor of God's word, to encourage the faith of people if the Lord allows me.

The Lord will let Egypians lose heart and bring their plans to nothing

Isaiah 19:1-25
The Lord will let Egypians lose heart and bring their plans to nothing; God will hand the Ehyptians over to the power of a cruel master, and a fierce king will rule over them. No matter their consult the idols and the spirits of the dead, their officials of Zoan and leaders of Memphis are become fool.
In that day the Egyptians will be like women. They will shudder with fear at the uplifted hand that the Lord Almighty raises against them. And the land of Judah will bring terror to the Egyptians.
In that day five cities in Egypt will speak the language of Canaan and swear allegiance to the Lord Almighty. One of the will be called the city of Destruction.
In that day there will be an altar to the Lord in the heart of Egypt and a monument to the Lord at its border. The Lord will strike Egypt with a plague; he will strike them and heal them. They will turn to the Lord , and he will respond to their pleas and heal them.
In that day the Egyptians and Assyrians will worship together Israel will be the third, along with Egypt and Assyria, a blessing on the earth. The Almighty will bless them, saying,"Blessed be Egypt my people, Assyria my handiwork, and Israel my inheritance."
Why?
The Israel will be recovered and be stronger in the plan of God.
Egypt was defeated by Assyria when Sennacherib's army besieged Jerusalem. Further defeats culminated in the sack of Thebes in 663 BC, when the Assyrians pillaged centuries of temple treasures.
Verse 16-24 reveal God's ultimate purpose: the revelation of himself to the Egyptian people. Amazingly, Egypt ad Assyria will be united with Israel in the worship of God, bring blessing to the whole world.
"That day"- the day of God's judgment- both temporal and final. New Testament sees 'that day' as the day of Christ's return.
After Jerusalem fell in 587 there were numerous influential colonies of Jews in Egypt and in Assyria A copy of the Jewish Temple was even constructed at Leontopolis in Egypt about 170 BC. But all that was only a pale隱約 shadow of what is envisaged設想 in Isaiah.
All of the disaster come upon the earth is let the people turn to the Lord and get together to worship the Lord. Men's wisdom and plan bring to nothing. Only the words of the Lord may come true.
How?
The Lord is righteousness, every evil doer and rebel to the Lord will be perished. Only the one fear the Lord and accept the Jesus Christ has eternal life.

Remain quiet and will look on from dwelling place

Isaiah 17-18
An Oracle against Damascus : "Damascus will no longer be a city but will become a heap of ruins. The fortified city will disappear from Ephraim, and royal power from Damascus. the remnant of Aram will be like the glory of the Israelites," Declares the Lord Almighty.
In that day men will look to their Maker and turn their eyes to the Holy One of Israel.
Although the peoples roar like the roar of surging waters, when he rebukes them they flee far away, driven before the wind like chaff on the hills, like tumbleweed before a gale.
This is the portion of those who loot us, the lot of those who plunder us.
A prophecy against Cush: Woe to the land of whirring wings along the rivers of Cush.
To a people tall and smooth-skinned, to a people feared far and wide, an aggressive nation of strange speech, whose land is divided by rivers. - Cush
The Lord says to me: I will remain quiet and will look on from my dwelling place, like shimmering heat in the sunshine, like a cloud of dew in the heat of harvest"
The gift will be brought to the Lord, Mount Zion.
Why?
This is a prophecy from Isaiah's early days, in response to King Ahaz's appeal for help against the Syria-Israel alliance. The Assyrians launched a series of raids in which Damascus was plundered and this prophecy also attacks Israel for siding with Syria against their own kin - the nation of Judah.
Cush is modern Sudan. In Isaiah's day Egypt was ruled by a Sudanese dynasty. The Assyrian threat brings envoy使節 from afar. But the God will deal with the invader on the very eve of victory. And the far-off nation will send gifts in grateful homage尊敬 to God
No matter how the people roar or how tall and fear they are, when God rebukes them, they flee far away.
It is uneasy to remain quiet when Isaiah knew what God's plan is. So as we know what will be in that day, keep our steady emotion and pace.
How?
To be a servant of God, even we know what it will going on, we have to remain quiet and look from our dwelling place, with clam heart and emotion.
In that day people will worship God Almighty, turn their eyes to the Lord.

Humble myself for I am a redeemed sinner.

Isaiah 16:1-14
Send lambs as tribute to the ruler o the land from Sela, across the desert, to the mount of the Daughter of Zion. Let the Moabite fugitive stay with you; be their shelter from the destroyer. - Moab sends to Jerusalem for help, and God urges his people to take the fugitives in.
In love a throne will be established; in faithfulness a man will sit on it-- one from the house of David-- one who in judging seeks justice and speeds the cause of righteousness.
Maob's pride - her overweening pride and conceit, but her boasts are empty.
Therefore the Moabites wail, they wail together for Moab.
This is the word the Lord has already spoken concerning Moab. But now the Lord says: "within three years, as a servant bound by contract would count them, Moab's splendor and all her many people will be despised, and her survivors will be very few and feeble.
Why?
Vineyards of Sibmah: A region famous for its wine- here a symbol of national prosperity.
A person bound by contract works no more than the time contracted for; so,'three years, and barely that.'
The cities of Moab fell to Assyria in successive campaigns. They were to fall again to Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon.
The Lord humbles the pride man and nations with much suffering and destruction. They fell by their pride and conceit.
The Lord establish a throne with Justice and righteous - Jesus Christ.
How?
God's word spoken never return, His word stand from generation to generation. All the arrogant and pride men will be fallen. Mediate myself everyday. To be a humble man and fear the Lord.

Serving God by serving people

Isaiah 15:1-9
A prophecy against Moab
Ar, Kir in Mob are ruined , destroyed in a night!
The Moabites were descendants of Abraham's nephew, Lot. They occupied the plateau land east of the Dead Sea. It was from Moab that Ruth came.
At times the Moabites were on good terms with the Israelites, but they had no share in Israel's faith.
Isaiah is stirred to sympathy at the spectacle of Maob's suffering.
The cities of Moab fell to Assyria in successive campaigns. They were to fall again to Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon.
Why?
The people of Moab were been killed and flee away from their home to other countries. Their home's water is dried up and the grass is withered; the vegetation is gone and nothing green is left.
The Lord's wrath comes to Moab also, no one can escape from God's propose.
How?
Ruin in a night, the end of the world will come in very short time. Ready myself to that day, prepare what I need for the calling of the Lord. And serving God by serving people.

The Lord Almighty has purposed, and who can thwart him?

Isaiah 14:1-32
The Lord will have compassion on Jacob; once again he will choose Israel and will settle them in their own land.
The house of Israel will possess the nations as menservants and maidservants in the Lord's land. They will make captives of their captors and rule over their oppressors.
Describe the Babylon and Satan:
How you have fallen from heaven, O morning star, son of the dawn! You have been cast down to the earth, you who once laid low the nations! You said in your heart, "I will ascent to heaven; I will raise my throne above the stars of God...."But you are brought down to the grave, to the depths of the pit.
"I will raise up against them" declares the Lord Almighty. "I will cut off from Babylon her name and survivors, her offspring and descendants," declares the Lord.
The Lord against Assyria:
For the Lord Almighty has purposed, and who can thwart him? His hand is stretched out, and who can turn it back?
The Lord against the Philistines: Wail , O gate! Howl, O city! A could of smoke comes from the north, and there is not a straggler in its ranks.
The Lord has established Zion, and in her his afflicted people will find refuge.
Why?
Morning star: Venus; in Canaanite belief, a god who made a bid to be 'top god'
The very same thoughts brought God's judgment on Babel, Babylon's predecessor.
Assyria's fate is also sealed. Ultimately Babylon will break the power of Assyria.
The date is probably 716 BC. Assyria is in trouble, and the Philistines try to persuade Judah to join them in rebellion. But the Assyrians are far from finished. Worse is to come - and the Philistines are doomed. God's poor and suffering people, however, find safety in him.
God's judgement and compassion both come to the people of Israel and their oppressors. But evil nations are fallen for their sin and violence, the Lord has salvation to those trust in Him.
How?
God's judgement is ready, don't angry to the evil doer, they will fallen to the ground and their behavior will be revealed. Everyone will get the fruit for they have done at the day.  Praise the Lord!

The wrath of the Lord Almighty

Isaiah 13:1-22
The Load we will destroy the whole country, Babylonian. Her days will not be prolonged.
This destruction will be completely. People scarcer than pure gold.
God will punish the world for its evil, the wicked for their sin.
The Lord will stir up against them the Medes, who do not care for silver and have no delight in gold. They have not mercy and compassion.
God puts an end of the arrogant of haughty and will humble the pride of the ruthless. At the wrath of the Load, Almighty at the day of his burning anger.
She will never be inhabited or lived in through all generations;
Babylon, the jewel of kingdoms, the pride and glory of the Babylonians, will be overthrown by God.
Why?
Babylon is the weapon of the Lord, but for their proud and arrogant, the wrath of the Load come upon them.
In Isaiah's day Babylon was struggling for independence from Assyria. This prophecy concerns Babylon, 100 years later, at the height of its power - and looks forward to the day when Babylon in turn will be brought down.
In 539 Babylon fell to the Medes and Persians led by Cyrus. Xerxes destroyed the city in 478, and it was finally abandoned in the 4th century BC.
In New Testament, Babylon becomes a symbol. It is the city of rebel humanity, implacable opposed the God.
When Isaiah prophecy Babylon, Babylon was very strong, it is hard to believe this country will fell. God has his time, what we can do is trust in Him and fear the Lord.
How?
The Lord Almighty is great and worthy to worship, all of the word will be punished for its evil and wicked for their sin. Do not angry to the evil man, but preach the gospel to them, hope them could return to the Lord.

Sing to the Lord, for he has done glorious things

Isaiah 12:1-6
Surely God is my salvation; I will trust and not be afraid. The image of God has changed.
The Lord, the Lord, is my strength and my song; he has become my salvation.
Give thanks to the Lord, call on his name; make known among the nations what he has done, and proclaim that his name is exalted.
Sing to the Lord, for he has done glorious things; let this be known to all the world.
Shout aloud and sing for joy, people of Zion, for great is the Holy One of Israel among you.
The song of God's salvation will be on everyone's lips.
Why?
Isaiah  pictures it all in physical terms. But what he sees is a radical change. This is a new earth, centered on God and obedient to his will.
I have expected great things from God since 2010 I came to US. Now I like to shout aloud and sing for joy, for he has done glorious things. I will make known among the nations what he has done.
How?
With joy to draw water from the well of salvation. sing to the Lord and proclaim that his name is exalted.

With justice he will judge the needy, with justice he will give decisions for the poor of the earth

Isaiah 11:1-16
The branch from Jesse will bear fruit, the Jesus. The Spirit of the Lord will rest on him -- The Spirit of wisdom and of understanding, the Spirit of counsel and of power the Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord-- and he will delight in the fear of the Lord.
Judge will not by what he sees with his eyes, decide is not by what her hears with his ears; but with justice he will judge the needy, with justice he will give decisions for the poor of the earth.
In that day the Root of Jesse will stand as a banner for the peoples; the nations will rally(join force) to him, and his place of rest will be glorious.
In that day the Lord will reach out his hand a second time to reclaim the remnant- and from the islands of the sea.
There will be a highway for the remnant of his people that is left from Assyria, as there was for Israel when they came up from Egypt.
The coming king will be from David's family. He will possess the Spirit of God himself; just, righteous, faithful, like God. Nations will rally to him. His kingdom will be free of enmity and evil. The natural world reflects this total transformation.
Why?
Second time: First time is let the remnant back from Assyria, second is the Jesus save people from their sins, not only from Assyria, but other places.
The Spirit of the Lord has wisdom, understanding, counsel and power. Delight in Fear of the Lord, usually it is fear only, but fear the Lord bring blessing.
Judge the needy and the poor is to help them, for those are careless by the rich men and people with power.
How?
Care the needy and the poor men, when I come back to my country to help the people of the Lord. Don't judge by what I see or what I hear, but the wisdom of the Lord and the Spirit of the Lord.

The remnant of Israel will truly rely on the Lord

Isaiah 10:20-34
In that day the remnant of Israel, the survivors of the house of Jacob, will not longer rely on him who struck them down, but will truly rely on the Lord, the Holy One of Israel.
Though people of Israel be like the sand by the sea, only a remnant will return. Destruction has been decreed, overwhelming and righteous.
The Lord, the Lord Almighty, will carry out the destruction decreed upon the whole land.
See, the Lord, the Lord Almighty, will lop off the boughs with great power. The lofty trees will be felled, the tall ones will be brought low.
Why?
Even at the height of judgment God never loses sight of his purpose to save. A remnant-pathetically few- of his people will survive to trust and serve him.
The remnant: This is one of the key themes in Isaiah. It goes back to the day God called him into service and runs as a thread of hope through the darkest messages of judgment. Those who have survived is to realize all the glorious promises for the future.
The Lord destroy all in the land, but God keep some remnant to honor His name, all of the evil and idols will be clean out.
Pride one and the haughty one will be low and humble, only the Lord is the king.
How?
Don't sad about the situation right now, my hope is in the Lord.
I don't know why my wife angry with my talk. May be I speak a little louder, but I didn't angry about it. May the love of Lord be our solution.

Judgement on Assyria for his pride heart and haughty look

Isaiah 10:5-19
Assyrian is the rod of God's anger, in whose hand is the club of God's wrath!
God send him against a godless nation, dispatch him against a people who anger the Lord.
But this is not what Assyria intends, this is not what he has in mind his purpose is to destroy, to put a end to many nations.
When the Lord has finished all his work against Mount Zion and Jerusalem, he will say, "I will punish the king of Assyria for the willful pride of his heart and the haughty look in his eyes."
The Light of Israel will become a fire their Holy One a flame; in a single day it will burn and consume his thorns and his briers.
Why?
God makes use of a proud and cruel nation to punish his people. But the emperor's arrogant boast does not go unchallenged and Assyria's excessive ferocity is ot excused: it will be punished.
Assyria seized the kingdoms of the idols, so he dealt with Jerusalem and her images a s dealt with Samaria and her idols. The Light of Israel is different as other nation's God.
How?
Humble myself in present of the Lord, I am his servant. Confess I am a sinner and need his salvation and blessing. What I can proud is proud of the Jesus Christ in me.

Zeal of the Lord Alimighty will accomplish this

Isaiah 9:1-7
6/16/2013
The people walking in the darkness have seen a great light.
Your have enlarged the nation and increased their joy;
Rejoice as people rejoice at the harvest, as men rejoice when dividing the plunder.
As in the day of Midian's defeat you have Shattered(粉碎) their burdens on them, the bar and the rod.
For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
He will reign on David's throne and over his kingdom with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever. The zeal of the Lord Almighty will accomplish this.
This prophecy moves right away from the dark days of the present to a vision of a bright ad glorious future. A king will come from David's line to rule in peace and justice - for ever.
Zebulun and Naphtali in Galilee, the first of the tribes to be crushed by Assyria, will be the first to see the light, to taste the joy, to be set free by the coming prince of peace.
Why?
Matthew 4:12-16 specifically links this prophecy with the coming of Jesus, whose home-town was Nazareth, in Galilee, and who began his public ministry at Cana in Galilee.
A son born for us is the Jesus Christ, prophesied through Isaiah.
He brings the light and joy to us, he came with justice ad righteous, he build a kingdom from that time on an forever.
The Zeal of the Lord Almighty will accomplish this. I need the zeal to accomplish the mission of the Lord! This is the power of the Lord, it is not me.
Zeal: enthusiastic,diligence; ardor. intensity, passion.
How?
Praise to the Lord and pray to the Lord gives me the faith and strength to follow his command and give me the zeal to accomplish his commands.

Be still, waiting for the Lord

Isaiah 9:8-10:4
6/17/2013
There are four sections about "Yet for all this his anger is not turned away his hand is still upraised."
1)All the people will know it - they say with pride and arrogance of heart. Arameans from the east and Philistines from the west have devoured Israel with open mouth.
"The bricks have fallen down, but we will rebuild with dressed stone; the fig trees have been felled, but we will replace them with cedars."
2)The people have not returned to him who struck them, so the Lord will cut off from Israel both head and tail-- the elders, prominent men and the prophets.
3)By the wrath of the Lord Almighty the land will be scorched and the people will be fuel for the fire; no one will spare his brother.
4)Woe to those who make unjust laws, deprive the poor of their tights and withhold justice from the oppressed of my people, making widows their prey and robbing the fatherless. Nothing will remain but to cringe among the captives or fall among the slain.
The prophecy is written in four stanzas, each ending with the same refrain.
The Assyrians took many Israelite captive in 734, but Samaria held out out until 722/1. Israel had turned a deaf ear to the warnings of mos and the appeals of Hosea, the two prophets God had specially sent them.
Why?
The Lord's angry raises his justice, even he has love to his people, but those people rebel him and has done too much wicked. The Lord let the enemies to attack Israel and Judah. Even though they did not return to the Lord.
Te problem is people's heart turn away from the Lord, they refuse to honor the Lord, even the message from the Lord has been sent to them. They have not any response to the Lord.
People have strong confidence to do it by themselves, without turn to the Lord. Man is proud to his wisdom and capability, the problem is rely on man will fall, victory belong to the Lord.
God's love is with us, his salvation is come to everyone, only the unbelief heart keep him away from the Lord.
How?
I am same as other men, want to do something by myself, I have to learn waiting for the Lord, be patient, be quiet(Be still), let the Lord do to me.

Fear the Lord Almighty, do not fear what others fear

Isaiah 8:1-22
Raise the war cry, you nations and be shattered! Prepare for battle, and be shattered! Prepare for battle, and be shattered! Device your strategy, but it will be thwarted; propose your plan, but it will not stand, for God is with us.
This people has rejected the gently flowing waters of Shiloah and rejoices over Rezin and the son of Remaliah, therefore the Lord is about to bring against them the mighty floodwater of the River-  the king of Assyria with all his pomp, It will overflow all its channels, run over all its banks.
Do not call conspiracy everything that these people call conspiracy; do not fear what they fear, and do not dread it. The Lord Almighty is the one you are to regard as holy, he is the one you are to fear, he is the one you are to dread.
I will wait for the Lord, who is hiding his face from the house of Jacob. I will put my trust in him.
Isaiah and his children are signs and symbols in Israel from the Lord Almighty, who dwells on Mount Zion.
Why consult the dead on behalf of the living? To the law and to the testimony! If they do not speak according to this word, they have not light of dawn. They will be trust into utter darkness.
Why?
For the king is set on the disastrous course of asking Assyria's help. And when the rebels are dealt with, Assyria will sweep on into Judah, till Jerusalem itself is surrounded.
The son of the Lord should fear the Lord, but does not fear the man, for those kill the life only, but the Lord is relate to the soul.
Israelite and Judah has rejected the Lord so the Lord hide his face from them.
Be the signs and symbols among people from the Lord Almighty is very difficult mission, needs the strength and faith from the Lord.
How?
Fear the Lord, He is Almighty, king of kings, He is the one I am regard as holy.

The sign of Immanuel . Reject the wrong and choose the right

Isaiah 7:10-25
Immanuel: God with us.
The Lord gave second sign to king Ahaz, but he rejected, it seems reasonable; I will not put the Lord to the test. It is Ahaz didn't trust in the Lord.
The second sign is "The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel. He will eat curds and honey when he knows enough to reject the wrong and choose the right."
But before this child come the two kings- Rezin king of Aram and Pekah king of Israel will be laid waste.
The Lord will bring on you and your people and on the house of your father a time unlike any sine Ephraim broke away from Judah- he will bring the king of Assyria.
In that day 1)the Lord will bring the army from Egypt and from the land of Assyria to here. 2) The king of Assyria will shave your head and the hair of your legs and take off your beards also. 3) A man will keep alive a young cow and two goats, have curds and honey. 4)Every place where there were a thousand vines worth a thousand silver shekels, there will be only briers and thorns. Land of Judah and Israel will be ruined.
Why?
Ahaz, with false piety, will not ask for one. So Isaiah promises him another sign. a child called 'God with us'.
In the immediate future 'God with us' means judgment. though in the long term it will mean blessing.
The sign seems to have both present and future significance. 1) In the few years it takes for a child conceived now to reach an age when he can choose for himself, Israel and Damascus will cease to be a threat. 2) There will on day be born a child who will truly be 'Immanuel', 'God with us'. The word translated 'virgin' in some versions is more like English 'Maiden' than the technical term, 'virgin'.
Sign of Immanuel gave the faith to Isaiah's time, but it is also giving us the promise in this day.
He will have blessing when he knows enough to reject the wrong and choose the right. Do not have the desire of greedy!
How?
Do the right thing and reject the wrong, then 'God with us' has it's really blessing to me.

Do not lost heart! Stand firm in my faith!

Isaiah 7:1-9
When: Ahaz son of Hotham, the son of Uzziah, was king of Judah.
King Rezin of rm and Pekah son of Remaiah king of Israel marched up to fight against Jerusalem, but they could not overpower it.
The hearts of Ahaz and his people were shaken, as the trees of the forest are shaken by the wind.
The Lord said to Isaiah "Go out, you and your son Shear-Jashub, to meet Ahaz at the end of the aqueduct of the Uppor Pool to the Say to him..." Do not lost heart because of these two smoldering stubs of firewood, their plot will not take place, it will not happen. If you do not stand firm in your faith, you will not stand at all."
Why?
Ahaz defied God, and in consequence his kingdom came under attack from all quarters. When he refused to join the Israel/Syria alliance against Assyria, they attacked Judah. It is at this point that Isaiah goes to him with God's message.
Shear-Jashub, name mean's remnant shall return. Both Isaiah's sons stood as a constant reminder of his teaching.
The Lord plans to keep the house of David.
Under such situation, the heart is shaken like trees are shaken by the wind. But for the love of God, we need to stand firm in our faith. Then I will know that He is the Lord.
How?
I don't know what is the way and how my income will be after I return to Taiwan, but stand firm with my faith, don't be afraid and lose my heart, my God is a living God, He will save me and gives me a new way.

Here am I send me, send me1

Isaiah 6:6-13
One of the seraphs flew to Isaiah with a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with tongs from the altar. With it he touched Isiah's mouth and said,'See, this has touched your lips; your guilt is taken away and your sin atoned for."
Isaiah heard the Lords saying,"Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?
Isaiah said, "Here am I. Send me!" He said, "go and tell this people..."
"Be ever hearing, but never understanding; be ever seeing, but never perceiving."
"For how long, O Lord?" Isaiah said.
The Lord answered:"Until the cities lie ruined and without inhabitant, until the houses are left deserted and the fields ruined and ravaged..."
But as the terebinth and oak leave stumps when they are cut down, so the holy seed will be the stump in the land.
The Lord sent Isaiah to a nation deaf and blind to his entreaties; a nation that would be destroyed and taken captive.
Yet there was hope: the germ of a new nation would survive.
Why?
Only the Lord has right to take guilt away and atone our sin.
Isaiah reply to the Lord "Here am I. Send me!" He takes his responsibility when he saw the Lord.
The command of the Lord is "Go and tell this people..., though they be ever hearing, but never understanding." Until the day of God is coming, then they will understand. Even though, the Love keep a stump of oak tree as holy seed for the future in the land.
V9-10 God did not intend to stop people repenting. He sent Isaiah out with the express purpose of saving people from judgment, and the prophet's message is clear. But the people shut their ears and refused to act.
How?
Yes, Lord, Here I am. Send me! I will go and tell this people of your message. This is my desire to preach your word and love to the people for your calling.

Holy is the Lord Almighty, my hope is in God's hands!

Isaiah 6:1-5
In the year that King Uzziah died, Isaiah saw the Lord seated on a throne.
Isaiah felt sorrow for the good king is dead, so he went to the temple to see the Lord,  and he really saw the Lord there.
Holy, holy, holy is the Lord Almighty; the whole earth is full of his glory.
Isaiah saw these sense he knew he was a sin man, so he cried "Woe to me! I am ruined! For I am a man of unclean lips, and live among a people of unclean lips, and my eyes have seen the King, the Lord Almighty."
Why?
The overwhelming experience of God's holiness described in this chapter shaped Isaiah's whole life as a prophet.
He constantly spoke of the God he served as 'the Holy one of Israel'. The knowledge that he had seen God with his own eyes, experienced his forgiveness and been sent out in God's service would sustain him all his life.
Isaiah, face to face with God, is overcome with a sense of his own unworthiness. (In the Old Testament it was considered death to see God.)
When Isaiah lost his hope, he went to the Temple to seek the Lord. When I am under stress or despair, what should I do?  See the Lord!
How?
God is my hope, the Lord is Holy, no matter what happen, no matter what situation I be, seek the Lord, He is my savior, and fortress.

Six Woes

Isaiah 5:8-30
Isaiah said the many sins of Israel they have done which against the Lord.
Woe to who add house to house and join field to field.
Woe to those who rise early in the morning to run after their drinks, who stay up late at night till they are inflamed with wine.
People will go into exile for lack of understanding.
Woe to those who draw sin along with cords of deceit, d wickedness as with cart ropes.
Woe to those who call evil good and good evil.
Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes and clever in their own sight
Woe to those who are heroes at drinking wine and champions at mixing drinks, who acquit the guilty for a bribe, but deny justice to the innocent.
Their roots will decay and their flowers blow away like dust; for they have rejected the law of the Lord Almighty.
Therefor the Lord's anger burns against his people; His anger is not turned away, his hand is still upraised. He lifts up a banner for the distant nations, he whistles for those at the ends of the earth.
Woe betide those whose wrongdoing causes God to abandon the vineyard (not for ever, though)
Why?
I the land of Judah the vast estates built up at the expense of the poor will become waste land.
Again the prophet denounces pride, luxury, drunkenness, injustice. God will five the signal for the enemy invasion which will overwhelm them.
All of their evildoers will dead for lack for understanding. They deny the righteousness and love bride, deceive and evil.
How?
Do I understanding what I am doing today? Don't be a fool and filled by my own sight, but wise with the sight of the Lord.

God looks for justice, what man looks for?

Isaiah 5:1-7
The song of vineyard to describe the relation between God and Israel and Judah.
What more could have been done for my vineyard than I have done for it? When I looked for good grape, why did it yield only bad?
The vineyard of the Lord Almighty is the house of Israel, and the men of Judah are the garden of his delight.
And he looked for justice, but saw bloodshed; for righteousness, but heard cries of distress.
Why?
This song like Jesus' vineyard story(Matthew 21:33-41) is a parable.
The Lord had done everything necessary to ensure a heavy yield. But the vintage is bitter.
For the sin is in man, when everything is plenty, people forgets the grace of God but turn to the flesh desire. A man likes to look for his own desire, rich, authority, good name, sexuality, greed, etc.
The Lord gave his only son Jesus Christ as our savior, that is the only way and the easy way - trust in Him will be save.
How?
The Lord looks for righteous, but what man looks for?
Honor the Lord and do what he has told us is the purpose of a man's life in the world.

A spirit of fire and a spirit of jedgment

Isaiah 4:2-6
In that day the Branch of the Lord will be beautiful and glorious, and the fruit of the land will be the pride and glory of the survivors in Israel.
Those who are left in Zion, who remain in Jerusalem, will be called holy, all who are recorded among the living in Jerusalem.
The Lord will wash away the filth of the women of Zion, cleanse the blood stains from Jerusalem by a spirit of judgment and a spirit of fire.
Three in one Spirit of judgement and one Spirit of fire.
The Lord will create over all of Mount Zion and over those who assemble there a cloud of smoke by day and a glow of flaming fire by night; over all the glory will be a canopy.
Why?
Isaiah (like Jesus) sees pride ad the root of so much wrong Evil has no place in the renewed city; only the few who are faithful to God will survive to enjoy it.
New growth shooting from the old roots; the community is to be reborn. Symbolized Jesus will be the new branch, a new relationship will be created between God and man.
Cloud in fire - the symbols of God's presence.
Faithful people are few but only those people can enjoy the glory and holy with the Lord.
There is a spirit of judgment and fire, one God, One Jesus and One Spirit to erase out guilt and sins. Don't be attracted away the focus away from God by others.
Spirit of fire in my heart that is a passion to the Lord, to love the people who needs the comfort and salvation from the Lord.
How?
Response the Lord with the enthusiasm to serve the Lord. With the spirit of fire and spirit of judgment.

To be a holy follower of Jesus

Isaiah 3:16-4:1
The Lord said about the haughty of women of Zion.
In that day the Lord will snatch away奪走 their finery. Some of men are taking it today like earrings, nose rings...
Instead of fragrance there will be a stench;
instead of a sash, a rope; instead of well-dressed hair, baldness; instead of fine clothing, sackcloth; instead of beauty, branding.
In that day seven women will take hold of one man and say, "We will eat out own food and provide out own clothes; only let us be called by your name. Take away out disgrace!"
Why?
So many men have been killed in battle that the women offer to provide their own keep, if only the man will marry them.
Unmarried women are shame in that era.
In that day population become less and poor, without any fine clothing and decoration in their body.
Instead of ... there will be... is their punishment from the Lord.
How?
Keep the precious grace from the Lord, remember the love and mercy of the Lord, or in that day instead of grace and rest there will be everlasting pain and fire.
The Lord is more concern our heart. No the decoration outside but the inside of a man. To be a holy follower of Jesus.

Judgement of the Lord to leaders of the Judah

Isaiah 3:1-15
The judgment on Jerusalem and Judah.
The Lord remove all supply and support from Jerusalem and Judah, and the hero and warrior, the judge and prophet the soothsayer and elder.
Jerusalem staggers, Judah is falling; their words and deeds are against the Lord, defying his glorious presence.
O my people, your guides lead you astray; they turn you from the path.
The Lord enters into judgment against the elders and leaders of his people: "It is you who have ruined my vineyard; the plunder from the poor is n your houses. What do you mean by crushing my people and grinding the faces of the poor?" declares the Lord, the Lord Almighty.
Why?
The judgement will come from the leaders and the elders of people. So as leaders of the church. To be a servant or leader in church have to fear the Lord and take care the lamb of the Lord.
Vineyard: Symbol of the nation
How?
It is the Lord gives us the position and mission to lead the people in our nation. Be ware of what my role is in presence of the Lord.

Stop trusting in man

Isaiah 2:1-22
In the last days the mountain of the Lord's temple will be established as chief among the mountains; it will be raised above the hills, and all nations will stream to it. Peace will coming.
Come, let go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the house of the God of Jacob.
Come, O house of Jacob, let us walk in the light of the Lord.
The day of the Lord, the dyes of the arrogant man will be humbled and the pride of men brought low; the Lord alone will be exalted in that day, and the idols will totally disappear.
Men will flee to caves in the rocks and to holes in the ground from dread of the Lord and the splendor of his majesty when he rises to shake the earth.
Stop trusting in man, who has but a breath in his nostrils. Of what account is he?
Why?
We have hope, in the last days, the Lord will recover all of the world, let evildoer perish and all idols disappear. Only the Lord be exalted.
The last day is terrible days, men flee away from dread of the Lord.
Stop trusting in man, trust in the Lord.
Isaiah looks forward to a coming time of peace when Jerusalem will become the city of God for people of all nations. Human pride is marked for destruction.
Symbols of pride, Solomon used the famous Lebanese cedarwood for his Temple. The ships of  Tarshish were great ocean-going vessels, the pride of the fleet.
How?
Stop trusting in man, who has but a breath in his nostrils, of what account is he? Only the Lord I can trust in. He is the king of kings, everlasting King.
Help the needed men, but do not trust in men.

City of Righteousness, the Faithful City

Isaiah 1:21-31
The sin of Jerusalem: faithful city has become a harlot! Once was full of justice but now murderers! Silver has become dross. Rulers are rebels, companions of thieves; they all love bribes and chase after gift. They do not defend the cause of the fatherless; the widow's case does not come before them.
The Lord avenge them as enemies.
I will restore your judges as in days of old, your counselors as at the beginning. Afterward you will be called the City of Righteousness, the Faithful City.
Zion will be redeemed with justice, her penitent ones with righteousness. But rebels and sinners will both be broken, and those who forsake the Lord will perish.
You will be ashamed because of the sacred oaks in which you have delighted.
You will be like an oak with fading leaves, like a garden without water.
Why?
Swift and terrible judgment will fall on all who continue to defy him: he will cleanse his people from their sin.
Oaks: The sacred groves where Canaanite rites儀式 took place; symbols of the nation's idolatry.
All of the sins were pointed out and the Lord has his plan to clean the city of Jerusalem back to the old with city of righteousness and faithful city.
City of Righteousness, the Faithful City is God delights. Otherwise the Lord will avenge them and all rebels will be perished.
The righteousness of the Lord endure forever.
The sins the the Lord hates: without faith and justice, love bribe and gift, rebel rulers, accompany with thieves, don't care about the cause of fatherless and widow.
Rebel is turn away from the Lord, so they will be evildoer. Loss their conscious.
How?
Fear the Lord who is righteous God, who can stand before Him. With the grace the Jesus Christ we can pray before the Lord. Keep focus on the Lord but not the men, to give honor to the Lord, but it is not for my own.
******************
My home town church anticipates my return can give them something, may the Lord help me, I am not mighty man, I am only a servant of the Lord, I can do nothing but the Lord can do. May I could be a tube of the God's grace to those needed people.

Only God can wash our sin, through Jesus Christ

Isaiah 1:10-20
Stop bringing meaningless offerings! Your incense is testable to me. I cannot bear your evil assemblies.
The Lord hide his eyes when they pray, for their hands are full of blood.
How to let the Lord delight? 1)wash and make clean, take evil deeds out, stop doing wrong! 2) Learn to do right! Seek justice, encourage the oppressed. Defend the cause of the fatherless, plead the case of the widow.
If you are willing and obedient, you will eat the best from the land; but if you resist and rebel, you will be devoured by the sword.
Scarlet, red as crimson: Both are color-fast; only God could 'wash' these out.
Why?
God is sickened by their moral degradation, social injustice and religious hypocrisy. The language is extreme.
God's people are his 'enemies'. Yet God offers forgiveness.
Wash the sins: Stop doing wrong right now!
Learn to do right: Most people don't know how to do right, so the Lord guides them from four direction to do the right things.
We attend the worship in church and have offering to the Lord, but does my behavior and my heart is plead to the Lord almighty?
How?
Repent and do the right, then the Lord washes our sin from red to white as snow.
Through Jesus Christ only our sins could be washed!

Vision; Isaiah

Isaiah 1:1-9
Isaiah had vision during reign of four kings of Judah.
The rebelled nation Israel and people, even worse than the ox an donkey, does not know and understand who reared them and brought them up.
Unless the Lord Almighty had left us some survivors, we would have become like Sodom, we would have been like Gomorrah.
The place of Isaiah at the head of the prophetic books is well deserve. There is nothing to equal its tremendous vision of God and the glory in store for God's people until we reach the book of Revelation.
You are doomed注定!
The vision: Isiah describes what God enables him to see in his mind's eye: 'messages which God revealed."
Why?
The Lord sent his servant preach his words to his people, to remind them to warn them return to the Lord, the punishment is beginning.
People of Israel forget the Lord has done to them, turn their heart to idols and away from the Lord, be evildoers. So the ruin will come to them are doomed.
How?
Vision of Isaiah is reminder to that generation, it is also a good mirror to this generation, there are many rebellion people in this generation.
The mercy and grace of the Lord endures forever.

Steps to purify the servants of the Lord

Nehemiah 13:15-31
Jews against the Lord for these three matters:
1.No Tithe to the temple of the Lord and the Levites. "Why is the house of God neglected?"
2.Desecrating the Sabbath. "Didn't your forefathers do the same things, so that our God brought all this calamity upon us and upon this city?"
3.Marriage to foreign women or men. "Was it not because of marriages like these that Solomon king of Israel sinned?" Nehemiah asked them
Remember me for 1) do not blot out what I have done for the house of my God. 2)show mercy to me according to your great love 3) because they defiled the priestly office and the covenant of the priesthood and of the Levites 4)with favor.
Nehemiah purified the priests and the Levites of everything foreign, and assigned them duties, each to his own task. He also made provision for contributions of wood at designated times and for the first fruits.
Why?
Pointed out their sins against the Lord and rebuke the nobles and priests. purify the servants of the Lord, assign them duties, each to his own task, made provision for the regular ceremony and devote the first fruits for the God. These are the necessary steps to purify the church also.
Marriage to foreign means to marriage to unbelievers today.
Sabbath is the Holy Sunday worship in today. Remember the Lord.
Devote tithe and devote the first fruit of each day to the Lord to witness what is our life's first priority.
The achievements of Ezra and Nehemiah in the crucial years following the return of their decimated nation from exile are notable. Without the teaching of the law, without the invincible faith and fearless action of these two leaders, it is doubtful if a distinctive Jewish religion and community - with all that means for the wider word- could have survived.
The objection to foreign women was not on the grounds of race, but because of their debased religions.(The Old Testament makes no objection to interracial marriage if both partners worship the God is Israel: the marriage of Moabite Ruth to Boaz is just one of many examples of  'foreigners' brought right in to the heart of God;s family.)
How?
Interpret the real meaning of the Bible and make actions to this day. The steps of Nehemiah are the good example for me to serve the Lord, 1) clean myself first, 2)have company with same faith to the Lord 3) put the Lord in first priority in my life.
