I am against you,” declares the Lord Almighty. “I will burn up your chariots in smoke, and the sword will devour your young lions

 Nahum 2:1-13 

Nineveh is like a pool whose water is draining away. “Stop! Stop!” they cry, but no one turns back.

She is pillaged, plundered, stripped! Hearts melt, knees give way, bodies tremble, every face grows pale.

“I am against you,” declares the Lord Almighty. “I will burn up your chariots in smoke,  and the sword will devour your young lions. I will leave you no prey on the earth. The voices of your messengers will no longer be heard.”

Why?

Nineveh failed, and Israel will become greater. For the Lord is working on them. 

The stronghold was broken, the beauty was gone, and the rich became poor in the city of Nineveh.

This is the destination of Nineveh in the hands of the Lord.

How?

Nothing can endure forever unless under the blessing of the Lord; nothing can succeed except the blessing of the Lord!
