Psalm 97
Cloud and thick darkness surround him; righteousness and justice are the foundation of his throne.
Fire goes before him and consumes his foes on every side.
All who worship images are put to shame, those who boast in idols - worship him, all gods!
Let those who love the Lord hate evil, for he guards the lives of his faithful ones and delivers them from the hand of the wicked.
Light is shed upon the righteous and joy on the upright in heart. Rejoice in the Lord, you who are righteous, and praise his holy name.
The Lord is King!
The images are of awesome power, and shining, searching light. The spirit sings with gladness for all that God has done - for God, supreme, triumphant the Savior and delight of all who hate evil.
Why?
My foundation is the faith, hope and love to Jesus Christ, he is my salvation.
God is fire so we should fear Him.
God loves those who hates evil and rejoice in the Lord for God is righteous and praise his holy name.
How?
Rejoice in the Lord and praise his holy name.

Sing to the Lord a new song for his salvation, glory and great
Psalm 96
Sing to the Lord a new song; sing to the Lord , praise his name; proclaim his salvation day after day. Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous deeds among all peoples.
For great is the Lord and most worthy of praise; he is to be feared above all gods.
Say among the nations, "The Lord reigns." The world is firmly established, it cannot be moved; he will judge the peoples with equity.
He will come judge the world in righteousness and the peoples in his truth.
The song his people sing is a song of God's salvation, of his greatness and his glory - a song of universal joy when he comes to rule with justice.
Why?
Praise the Lord for his glory, his salvation and his great!
The Lord reigns, then the world is firmly established. If it is not so, there will be destruction and trouble in them.
God will judge the world in righteousness, judge the peoples with equity. He is to be feared.
How?
Sing to the Lord a new song, praise the Lord and fear the Lord.

Enter my rest
Psalm 95
Come, let us sing for joy to the Lord; let us shout aloud to the Rock of out salvation. For the Lord is the great God, the great King above all gods.
For he is our God and we are the people of his pasture, the flock under his care. Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden you hearts as you did at Meribah, as you did that day at Massah in the desert, where your father tested and tried me, though they had seen what I did.
Meribah means quarreling. (Exodus 17:7, Israelites quarreled there was not water to drink)
Massah means testing.
They are a people whose hearts go astray and they have not known my ways". So I declared on oath in my anger, "They shall never enter my rest."
Let us praise and worship God our Maker. Let us listen to him for he expects us to obey.
Why?
Sing for joy to the Lord for He is worthy to worship. He is the great God.

Do not quarrel, do not test our God. Trust and focus on our God. He cares me.

The God who avenges
Psalm 94:1-23
The Lord knows the thoughts of man; he knows that they are futile.
Blessed is the man you discipline, O Lord, the man you teach from your law; you grant him relief from days of trouble, till a pit is dug for the wicked. For the Lord will not reject his people; he will never forsake his inheritance.
They band together against the righteous and condemn the innocent to death, But the Lord has become my fortress, and my God the rock in whom I take refuge. He will repay for their sins and destroy them for their wickedness; the Lord our God will destroy them.
God's justice
The psalmist calls on God as Judge to punish the wicked. How fully do these criminals deserve God's judgment for their oppression of God's people and deliberate flouting of his law. How stupid they are to think they can hood wink God. But, though the thought of vengeance is never far away, the psalmist's spirits lift as he thinks of God.
Why?
The Lord who avenges, instead of man. Men are futile and fool for they are boast and do not know God.

God is my Lord, my shepherd, he will not reject his people, and he will never forsake his inheritance. This is the faith to the Lord.

But you, O Lord, are exalted forever; Psalm 92,93
Psalm 92:1-93:5
It is good to praise the Lord and make music to your name, O most High.
How great are your works, O Lord, how profound your thoughts! The senseless man does not know, fools do not understand, that though the wicked spring up like grass and all evildoers flourish, they will be forever destroyed.
But you, O Lord, are exalted forever.
The righteous will flourish like a palm tree, they will grow like a cedar of Lebanon; They will still bear fruit in old age, they will stay fresh and green, proclaiming,"The Lord is upright; he is my Rock, and there is no wickedness in him."
Song for the sabbath
This joyous thanksgiving in music and song for all that God has done was used for public worship in the Temple. It goes on to celebrate God's goodness to each individual and to all his people.
The Lord reigns
Your throne was established long ago; you are from all eternity.
Your statutes, Lord, stand firm; holiness adorns your house for endless days.
The Lord is King over all the earth - land and sea - eternal, almighty; his laws changeless and the Temple holy for ever with his presence.
Why?
How great is the Lord, but those who do not know God are fools and senseless men.
Righteous man and evildoer have quite different destination. Righteousness will stay fresh and green, but the wicked will be forever destroyed.
God's throne and his kingdom, statues stand firm and established long ago. God is the alpha and omega. He is from beginning to the end!
How?
Praise to the Lord, O most High! My God is mighty God!

Make ourselves a model for you to follow
2 Thessalonians 3:6-18
Keep away from every brother who is idle and does not live according to the teaching you received from us.
We worked night and day, laboring and toiling so that we would not be a burden to any of you. We did this , not because we do not have the right to such help, but in order to make ourselves a model for you to follow.
If anyone does not obey our instruction in this letter, take special note of him. Do not associate with him in order that he may feel ashamed. Yet do not regard him as an enemy, but warn him as a brother.
Paul stressed the need to work in his first letter. But excitement about Christ's coming seems to have made the situation worse, not better. So Paul speaks out in string terms against those who idle their life away and sponge on others. They can find no warrant for this in the example he has set.
The present is tough, the future will be tougher. But no matter what times may be like, no matter what may be going on around, the Christian has an inexhaustible, unfailing source of peace.
Paul takes over from his secretary. His own signature authenticates this letter. He added his personal signature to each of his letters in the same way.
Why?
