2 Thessalonians 3:6-18
Keep away from every brother who is idle and does not live according to the teaching you received from us.
We worked night and day, laboring and toiling so that we would not be a burden to any of you. We did this , not because we do not have the right to such help, but in order to make ourselves a model for you to follow.
If anyone does not obey our instruction in this letter, take special note of him. Do not associate with him in order that he may feel ashamed. Yet do not regard him as an enemy, but warn him as a brother.
Paul stressed the need to work in his first letter. But excitement about Christ's coming seems to have made the situation worse, not better. So Paul speaks out in string terms against those who idle their life away and sponge on others. They can find no warrant for this in the example he has set.
The present is tough, the future will be tougher. But no matter what times may be like, no matter what may be going on around, the Christian has an inexhaustible, unfailing source of peace.
Paul takes over from his secretary. His own signature authenticates this letter. He added his personal signature to each of his letters in the same way.
Why?
We have to work hard for our living, no matter who I am, do not idle for we are Christians. We should make ourselves a model for other to follow.
Waring those who are idle, but do not regard him as an enemy, but warn him as a brother, for we need treat brother with love. But do not associate with him.
How?
Make ourselves a model for other to follow, doing is better than saying.
