2 Thessalonians 2:1-12
Don’t let anyone deceive you in any way, for that day will not come until the rebellion occurs and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the man doomed to destruction.
The coming of the lawless one will be in accordance with how Satan works. He will use all sorts of displays of power through signs and wonders that serve the lie, and all the ways that wickedness deceives those who are perishing. They perish because they refused to love the truth and so be saved. For this reason God sends them a powerful delusion(妄想) so that they will believe the lie.
All will be condemned who have not believed the truth but have delighted in wickedness.
This passage is one of the most difficult in all Paul's letters.
He alludes(暗指) to teaching of which we have no surviving record, so that much which was clear to his first readers is now obscure. It is better, in some cases, to admit we do not know the meaning, than to speculate.
Some of the Thessalonian Christians thought the Day of the Lord had already begun. But Paul has never said so. Before this happens, he explains, there will be a great, final rebellion against God, headed by an individual utterly opposed to him. At present there are forces at work restraining evil - but in the end these will be swept away. Victory will come only through Christ, when he appears.
Man of lawlessness: Not Satan himself, but the leader of the anti-God forces, who sets himself up as God.
The one who holds it back: Perhaps Paul personalizes the principle of law and government which holds evil in check; perhaps he means an angelic being.
Why?
Sign and wonders esaily attract people believe, but do not be deceived. It is happened many times in these a few years.
Powerful delision may let them believe the lie. So we need to read the Bible and continue pray for our life be connected with the Lord.
How?
May the Holy Spirit help me to identify the truth and love the truth.
