2 Samuel 16:15-23
Ahithophel answered, “Sleep with your father’s concubines whom he left to take care of the palace. Then all Israel will hear that you have made yourself obnoxious to your father, and the hands of everyone with you will be more resolute.” So they pitched a tent for Absalom on the roof, and he slept with his father’s concubines in the sight of all Israel.
Ahithophel gave was like that of one who inquires of God. That was how both David and Absalom regarded all of Ahithopjhel’s advice.
Back in JerusalemDave's agentHushai succeedsi in convincing Absalom of his loyality.
By taking overDavid's harem. Absalom will convince his followers that reconcillation with his father is impossible. No king could forgive such a public insult. So it happened as Nathan had predicted.
Why?
All of these event are under control of the Lord. God has said these before.
Sleeping with father's concubine s means inherits the system of his father. So this kingdom is belong to me.
Ahithophel is smart and has wisdom to be a good counselor.

Ahithophel 作法讓跟隨者知道與大衛決裂，沒有回頭路。強占大衛妃嬪的主意等如神的意見
人再如何籌算，總有一。人算不如神算。神讓笏塞放在押撒龍前面已經埋下伏筆，亞西多弗也沒有察覺。

Keep hope to the Lord when we are under misery
2 Samuel 16:1-14
Ziba showed favor to the King with donkeys and bread and wines. And he said to David Mephibosheth staying in Jerusalem, because he thinks, the Israelites will restore to him his grandfather’s kingdom.
Shimei curses David: “Get out, you murderer, you scoundrel! The Lord has repaid you for all the blood you shed in the household of Saul...”
But the kings said to Abishi, “What does this have to do with you, If he is cursing because the Lord said to him, “Curse David,’ who can ask, ‘Why do you do this?”
It may be that the Lord will look upon my misery and restore to me his covenant blessing instead of his curse today.
Why?
One showed favor to the king David, another showed curse to David. David accepted it all and David felt all of this is in hands of the Lord.
Ziba though one day David may return and gave him property.
Shimei felt David is a murder killed Saul, but David didn’t, twice David had chances to kill Saul.
David is humble himself before the Lord, he knew this event was caused by himself and he accepted it.

Come! We must flee, David said
2 Samuel 15:13-37
Then David said to all his officials who were with him in Jerusalem, “Come! We must flee, or none of us will escape from Absalom. We must leave immediately, or he will move quickly to overtake us and bring ruin on us and put the city to the sword.”
Then the king said to Zadok, “Take the ark of God back into the city. If I find favor in the Lord’s eyes, he will bring me back and let me see it and his dwelling place again. But if he says, ‘I am not pleased with you,’ then I am ready; let him do to me whatever seems good to him.”
Now David had been told, “Ahithophel is among the conspirators with Absalom.” So David prayed, “Lord, turn Ahithophel’s counsel into foolishness.”
Why?
David and his followers immediately free from Jerusalem. For they afraid Absalom may ruin them.
Even under these situation, David trusted in the Lord, if God permitted he will return, if not, he won’t come back. So David asked the ark of the Lord remain stayed in Jerusalem.

沒有要求所有官員與他同行逃離。此時大衛最需要人跟隨他，大衛想到的不是保持自己的權位而是交給神。與押撒龍拉攏人心成強烈對比。

大衛完全相信神，把結果完全交給神。大衛不是為自己的權位。悔改是自己知道錯，接受一切安排。不是求神符合我所期待的。降伏神的安排。大衛的祭司願跟隨，但是大衛不要他們跟隨而是留在城裡。

Also, whenever anyone approached him to bow down before him, Absalom would reach out his hand, take hold of him and kiss him. Absalom behaved in this way toward all the Israelites who came to the king asking for justice, and so he stole the hearts of the people of Israel.
Then Absalom sent secret messengers throughout the tribes of Israel to say, “As soon as you hear the sound of the trumpets, then say, ‘Absalom is king in Hebron.’” While Absalom was offering sacrifices, he also sent for Ahithophel the Gilonite, David’s counselor, to come from Giloh, his hometown. And so the conspiracy gained strength, and Absalom’s following kept on increasing.
With Amnon out of the way, and Abigail's son dead, Absalom is next in line to the throne. But Solomon is David's chosen heir. For four years Absalom lays his plans, gradually winning the people over the challenge to David is extremely serious.
Why?
David seems did not judge people of Israelite, so gave Absalom good chances. Absalom behaved in this way toward all the Israelites. To be a king who behaved the way toward all his people.
Absalom is smart and excellent in his way to be a king, for David did not process the relationship properly between him and his son.
Four years may change people's heart.
David's counselor Ahithophel was invited by Absalom, so David was losing the heart of many Israelites.

利用200人以為他是敬畏神的人，所以跟從押撒龍，讓人以為他是行公義、愛民。
人民為什麼不相信大衛，反而相信押撒龍。大衛犯罪後，就很難行公義。大衛殺害烏利亞，別人不會知道嗎？失去統治的正當性。當我們與主失去連結，我們就會無法行公義，也無心治國。
押撒龍很會收買民心，很親民、有智慧、面貌好、但是缺了敬畏神。否則他所行的將會是好的君王。我們有能力、有才華，是否願意歸給主使用。使我們成為神的好僕人，將是很大的榮耀。我們先將神的道為榮耀，主降臨時，也會讓我們得著榮耀。

I want to see the king's face
2 Samuel 14:23-33
Then Joab went to Geshur and brought Absalom back to Jerusalem. But the king said, “He must go to his own house; he must not see my face.” So Absalom went to his own house and did not see the face of the king.
Absalom said to Joab, “Look, I sent word to you and said, ‘Come here so I can send you to the king to ask, “Why have I come from Geshur? It would be better for me if I were still there!”’ Now then, I want to see the king’s face, and if I am guilty of anything, let him put me to death.”
Then the king summoned Absalom, and he came in and bowed down with his face to the ground before the king. And the king kissed Absalom.
But two long, frustrating years pass before he is admitted to his father's presence, and the relationship is deeply damaged.
Why?
So strange David asked Joan brought Absalom came back but did not see him for two years.
This is not a good relationship between father and son.
David was a king and refuse to face the truth in his family.
A kiss means welcome and nice to see you. Bur here kiss seems a regulation symbol only.

Joab knew that the king’s heart
2 Samuel 14:1-22
Joab son of Zeruiah knew that the king’s heart longed for Absalom.
So Joab sent someone to Tekoa and had a wise woman brought from there. He said to her, “Pretend you are in mourning. Dress in mourning clothes, and don’t use any cosmetic lotions. Act like a woman who has spent many days grieving for the dead. Then go to the king and speak these words to him.” And Joab put the words in her mouth.
Now the whole clan has risen up against your servant; they say, ‘Hand over the one who struck his brother down, so that we may put him to death for the life of his brother whom he killed; then we will get rid of the heir as well.’ They would put out the only burning coal I have left, leaving my husband neither name nor descendant on the face of the earth.
Joab fell with his face to the ground to pay him honor, and he blessed the king. Joab said, “Today your servant knows that he has found favor in your eyes, my lord the king, because the king has granted his servant’s request.”
Joab pierces the king's defences much as Nathan had done, but with a fake law-suit. This time the appal is to waive the next-of-king's duty to avenge his murdered relative. The message for David is obvious. He is willing to overrule in the case of one of his subjects: why not for his heir?
Joab winds his point, and Absalom returns from exile.
Why?
Joab is smart and cares what king's heart. What about us, can we care about what God's heart thinking?
David just agrees let his son return, but he did not educate his son, he just did half of his duty of the father.

約押為何不直接向大衛說呢？
大衛仍是君王，沒人趕說大衛。怕對方不高興。
婦人的情形與大衛一樣，婦人無權柄，大衛有權柄。婦人無法保護兒子。沒有辦法中會去找大衛，有辦法的人做不到嗎？還是不願意去做。我們也常如此是不能做到還是不願意去做，去想辦法。
大衛馬上知道該如何做，婦人還是不放心，一根頭髮也不落地，婦人就放心了。神願意人回來，人卻常覺得回不去了。大衛面對自己的問題卻軟弱，不知如何面對。要交託神，要禱告。
神憐憫人，不要畫地自限。當我們願意去思考時其實沒有那麼困難！

Let's the Lord involve in our daily business
2 Samuel 13:23-39
And Absalom never said a word to Amnon, either good or bad; he hated Amnon because he had disgraced his sister Tamar.
Two years later, when Absalom’s sheepshearers were at Baal Hazor near the border of Ephraim, he invited all the king’s sons to come there.
So Absalom’s men did to Amnon what Absalom had ordered. Then all the king’s sons got up, mounted their mules and fled.
This has been Absalom’s express intention ever since the day Amnon raped his sister Tamar.
After Absalom fled and went to Geshur, he stayed there for three years. And King David longed to go to Absalom, for he was consoled concerning Amnon’s death.
The Strong king is a fatally weak father. Had David taken action he might have prevented both the murder and the later rebellion.
The story of the rape of Dinah in Genesis 34 gave her no voice. Here the writer lets us feel the agony of Tarmar. Her voice is clearly heard, for its own sake and to explain Absalom's hatred, revenge and eventual rebellion against the king.
The Chronicler's account omits both the rape and Absalom's rebellion. moving straight to the census of chapter 24.
Why?
Hatred's heart was embedded in David's home, for David did not process this sad event. He is a weak father.
Absalom expresses his revenge in his own way, but he has to fleed to Geshur for three years, left his home.
