Whose friend are you?

James 4:1-10
What comes fights and quarrels among you? Don't they come from your desires that battle within you?
You don not have, because you do not ask God. When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives.
God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.
Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded.
Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.
James turns peace to conflict. The root cause of quarrels and fighting is envy: setting our hearts on something we want and determining to get it, no matter what.
We align ourselves with the world when we behave like that, James says.
And the world's friend is God' enemy.  Don't be proud - be humble. Resist evil and submit to God who lifts up the humble.
Why?
Double-minded: One who wants the world and wants to be a follower of Christ.
God wants us turn to Him wholly, not part of us. God is envy to the sins.
James called those who friendship with the world adulterous. For they are oppose to the God. With the name of Christ but inner heart is dirty and turn to the world.
How?
Right now turn to the Lord, purity my heart, be humble before the Lord. God is Holy Lord!
