Isaiah 28:1-29
Woe to the Leaders of Ephraim and Judah
In that day the Lord Almighty will be a glorious crown, a beautiful wreath for the remnant of his people.
He will be a spirit of justice to the one who sits in judgment, a source of strength to those who turn back the battle at the gate.
You boast, “We have entered into a covenant with death, with the realm of the dead we have made an agreement. When an overwhelming scourge sweeps by, it cannot touch us, for we have made a lie our refuge and falsehood[b] our hiding place.” So this is what the sovereign Lord says:“See, I lay a stone in Zion, a tested stone, a precious cornerstone for a sure foundation; the one who relies on it will never be stricken with panic.
The farmer, His God instructs him and teaches him the right way. All this also comes from the Lord Almighty, whose plan is wonderful, whose wisdom is magnificent.
Attention is turned once again to the sins of Isaiah's own day. Verse 1-6 are addressed to Israel. They belong to the time before the fall of Samaria, the capital, in 722 BC. The pleasure-loving, luxury-loving city is ripe for the plucking - and Assyria's hand is outstretched to take it. Yet a core, 'remnant' will remain.
The leaders come under special attack. Religious leaders and rulers alike have not led but misled the people. At verse 14 the prophet turns on Judah and the rulers in Jerusalem. They have made a treaty with Egypt, which the prophet mockingly refers to as a treaty with death and think themselves safe. They will discover how wrong they are. Real security rests with God.
Verse 23-29 bring in a little Wisdom teaching, The farmer knows what to do because God teaches him. God's people would do well to learn that lesson.
Why?
Facing force or enemy people rely on their own way their wisdom, instead with the Lord, so the calamity comes and no way to go.
When ruler of a nation lost love and justice, God will be a spirit of justice to the one who sits in judgment.
It looks good in humans eyes, but it could be a covenant with death.
Turn to the Lord, understanding the Lord is the beginning of the wisdom. God is my way, my strength, and my salvation.
How?
Even I am a general manager in my office, God is my boss always and be humble and more rely on the Lord. God is my strength and my way. I need your help and wisdom, O Lord!
