Exodus 33:1-11
Go up to the land flowing with milk and honey. But I will not go with you, because you are a stiff-necked people and I might destroy you on the way.
Now take off your ornaments and I will decide what to do with you.’” So the Israelites stripped off their ornaments at Mount Horeb.
Whenever the people saw the pillar of cloud standing at the entrance to the tent, they all stood and worshiped, each at the entrance to their tent. The Lord would speak to Moses face to face, as one speaks to a friend. Then Moses would return to the camp, but his young aide Joshua son of Nun did not leave the tent.
God will not go back on his promise, but Israel has forfeited his presence. And without that, the promised land is nothing. Again Moses pleads for the people at a time of crisis. God's answer encourages him to press a personal plea for a revelation of God in all his splendor.
Why?
The Lord talks with Moses face to face like a friend, this is a special relationship to Moses.
For God has promised his people and will give them the land flowing with milk and honey. But for they are a stiff-necked people so God might destroy them on the way. Actually, those people no one can enter the promised land except for two men.
After this event, Israelites stripped off their ornaments.
Worship the Lord needs our heart and faith, don't need any decoration in our clothes.
Now Israelites stand before their tent and worshiped the Lord at the entrance to their tent. But when the problem comes they still compaining with the Lord.
How?
Trust in the Lord not only when everything is find, but also when we under suffering.
