Do not be afraid of him, for I have delivered him into your hands

Numbers 21:10-35

From there they continued on to Beer, the well where the Lord said to Moses, “Gather the people together and I will give them water.” Then Israel sang this song: “Spring up, O well! Sing about it, about the well that the princes dug, that the nobles of the people sank—  the nobles with scepters and staffs.”

But Sihon would not let Israel pass through his territory. He mustered his entire army and marched out into the wilderness against Israel. When he reached Jahaz, he fought with Israel. Israel, however, put him to the sword and took over his land from the Arnon to the Jabbok, but only as far as the Ammonites, because their border was fortified. Israel captured all the cities of the Amorites and occupied them, including Heshbon and all its surrounding settlements. Heshbon was the city of Sihon king of the Amorites, who had fought against the former king of Moab and had taken from him all his land as far as the Arnon.

After Moses had sent spies to Jazer, the Israelites captured its surrounding settlements and drove out the Amorites who were there. Then they turned and went up along the road toward Bashan, and Og king of Bashan and his whole army marched out to meet them in battle at Edrei.

The Lord said to Moses, “Do not be afraid of him, for I have delivered him into your hands, along with his whole army and his land. Do to him what you did to Sihon king of the Amorites, who reigned in Heshbon.” So they struck him down, together with his sons and his whole army, leaving them no survivors. And they took possession of his land.

Why?

The war in our lives may let us recognize the power of the Lord. 

Victory belongs to the Lord, we fight, we struggle and it depends on our Lord.

Israelite defeated the Sihon and Amorites, it is not because Israelite stronger but because the Lord fought for them.

This time the Lord acrivtly give his people the water through well.

21:1-3 人的私慾是自己最大的敵人。原因和過去一樣，但是這次他們知道悔改了。第二代以色列生命被更新，打敗兩個王。回到以前經歷神的地方，這口井以前挖的。當人與神的關係親近時，對罪敏感，是生命的進展。

之後要面對的是屬靈的戰爭。21-30節描述以前發生過的事。亞摩力人西宏打敗摩押人。作詩，表示戰事很大。說明以色列人打敗，西宏不是容易的事，表示他們依靠神！35節以色列人打敗巴珊王，這是非常適合牧養牛羊的地方。

尊貴人用圭用杖所挖所掘的，圭表示用權柄來挖，也就是權貴來服事百姓。

開始可以住在城裏面，除了經歷爭戰，也得到安息，得到土地的安慰、嘗到恩典的滋味。
