1 Samuel 13:16-14:23
Not a blacksmith could be found in the whole land of Israel, because the Philistines had said, “Otherwise the Hebrews will make swords or spears!” So all Israel went down to the Philistines to have their plow points, mattocks, axes and sickles sharpened. So on the day of the battle not a soldier with Saul and Jonathan had a sword or spear in his hand; only Saul and his son Jonathan had them.
Jonathan said to the young man who carried his armor, “Come, let us go over to the garrison of these uncircumcised. It may be that the LORD will work for us, for nothing can hinder the LORD from saving by many or by few.”
Then Jonathan climbed up on his hands and feet, and his armor-bearer after him. And they fell before Jonathan, and his armor-bearer killed them after him.
And there was a panic in the camp, in the field, and among all the people. The garrison and even the raiders trembled, the earth quaked, and it became a very great panic.
So the Lord saved Israel that day. And the battle passed beyond Beth-aven.
Why?
Comparing the Israelites and the Philistines, the Philistines were stronger than Saul, and Saul fear to fight with them. But Jonathan first went out to attack the Philistines and made panic among the camp of Philistine.
Because Jonathan braved attacked enemies and asked for the symbol from the Lord, under the blessing of the Lord they defeated the Philistines.
How?
There are not many or by few for nothing can hinder the Lord from saving. Praise the Lord!
