Exodus 18:1-27
Moses's father-in-law came to Moses with Moses's wife Zipporah and 2 sons.
Jethro listened Moses talked about what God has done for Israelite in rescuing them from the hand of the Egyptians. He said " Praise be to the Load, I know that the Load is greater than all other gods, for he did this to those who had treated Israel arrogantly.
Moses's father-in law gave Moses ideas to reduced the heavy burden to judge the dispute among his people.
Moses to be a leader the mission is 1) be the people's representative before God and 2) bring their disputes to him, 3) teach them the decrees and laws and 4)show them the way to live and 5)the duty they are to perform.
Select 1)capable men from the peoples-- 2)men who fare God 3)trustworthy men 4)who hate dishonest gain
Moses listened to his father-in law and did every thing he said.
Jethro a priest of Midian , who was a tribe chief of Midian. He has a few names, Reuel should be the real name,
Why?
Moses is representative before God but he need share his burden to other capable men, to be a efficient leader.
The burden of leadership is heavy, and Jethro's practical suggestion for reorganization and delegation is a sound one. Although Jethro, a non-Israelite, is reckoned a godly man. He is welcomed and his advice taken.
How?
To be a good leader before the Load should follow above instructions. Select some men to share burden of leadership to judge disputes needs above requirements.
