Pay attention to word of the Lord

Jeremiah 37:1-21
Zedekiah son of Josiah was made king of Judah by Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon; he reigned in place of Jehoiachin son of Jehoiakim. All of them still paid not attention to the words of the Lord.
Babylonians withdrew from Jerusalem for Egypt army came out, the people of Judah though Babylonians won't come again, but Jeremiah warned king  Zeddkiah, he will be captured by Babylonians and they will attack this city again and leave wounded men in his tent.
When Jeremiah went to the territory of Benjamin to get his share of the property among the people there. He was arrested by the captain of guard in Banjamin gate, and put him in prison.
King Zedekiah brought him out and put him in courtyard of the Palace garden.
Then Jeremiah said to King Zedekiah, “What crime have I committed against you or your attendants or this people, that you have put me in prison?  Where are your prophets who prophesied to you, ‘The king of Babylon will not attack you or this land’?
Zedekiah ordered the guards given a loaf of bread from the street of the bakers each day until all the bread in the city was gone.
Why?
For God's protection, Jeremiah suffered unfair treatment by Judah, the Lord saved his life.
People of Judah thought Jeremiah he is deserting to Babylonians, but it is not truth, Jeremiah spoke the truth from the Lord. He hope to save the life of his people. He warned them but they didn't listen to him.
People won't listen to the word of the Lord because their hearts are away from the Lord, they are deceived by their greed and proud.
How?
Careful reading and listening the words of the Lord, let my heart and mind focus on the Lord. This carnal things in this world attract out attention away form the truth for we are weak. O, Load! Please gave me the strength to follow you!

The truth usually is not good words.

Jeremiah 36:21-32
It was the ninth month, the king and all his attendants who heard all these words showed no fear, nor did they tear their clothes. Even Elnathan, Delaiah and Gemariahurged the king not to burn the scroll, he would not listen to them.
After the king burned the scroll containing the words that Baruch had written at Jeremiah’s dictation. The Lord asked Jeremiah take another scroll write on it all the words that were wrote on the first one.
The Lord's word came about king Jehoiakim, 'He will have no one to sit on the throne of David; his body will be thrown out and exposed to the heat by day and the frost by night. I will bring on them and those living in Jerusalem and the people of Judah every disaster I pronounced against them, because they have not listened.'
Why?
The king don't like to listen the truth words, so he was angry to what the scroll said, they were not fear the Lord. Even want to kill prophet Jeremiah and his servant Baruch.
The king does not fear the Lord, so as his officials don't fear the Lord.
A totally rebellious man don't get good destination.
How?
Blessing is the man who fears the Lord. Listen to the Truth, it usually is not good words.

It is blessing for one who fears the Lord

Jeremiah 35:1-19
The Lord let Jeremiah invited the Recabite family to come to one of the side rooms of the house of  the Lord and gave them wine to drink, but they refused to drink wine for they have obeyed everything their forefather commanded them.
This examples the Lord asked Jeremiah tell the men of Judah and the people of Jerusalem, the difference between Joadab son of Recab and people of Judah. One  obeyed their forefather's commands, another did not obey the command of  the Lord and their forefather's teaching.
Jonadab son of Recab will never fail to have a man to serve the Lord.
Chapter 35 and 36 take us back 10 years to the earlier siege of Jerusalem in the reign of King Johoiakim (609-598)
The Recabites, pledged to abstain from wine and to a nomadic游牧 lifestyle, were descendants of Jehonadab, who took God's part against the Baal-worshipper in 2 Kings 10:15-23 and 1 Chronicles 2:55
Why?
Fear of the invading army brings them to the city, where their obedience to a pledge made 200 years before puts the people of God to shame.
Follow the commands of the Lord is not difficult as the Rechabites obeyed the pledge their forefather has done. The factor is fear the Lord in heart.
How?
Fear the enemy instead of fear the Lord, bring people suffer distress. I'd rather fear the Lord, and bring blessing to me.

Freedom from bondage

Jeremiah 34:1-22
The king of Judah, Zedekiah, will be hand over to Babylonian, but he will not die by the sword; he will die peacefully while the army of the king of Babylon was fighting against Jerusalem and other two cities of Judah.
The Lord asked people of Jerusalem freedom for the slaves. So all the officials and people who entered into this covenant agreed that they would free their male and female slaves. But they changed their minds and took back the slaves they had freed and enslaved them again.
Therefore the Lord says: You have not obeyed me, you have not proclaimed freedom for your fellow countrymen, so I now proclaim 'freedom' for you -- 'freedom' to fall by the sword, plague and famine. I will make you abhorrent to all the kingdoms of the earth. The men who have violated my covenant and have not fulfilled the terms of the covenant they made before me, I will treat like the calf they cut in two and then walked between its pieces.
Why?
The date is still 588/7. After receiving God's message, king Zedekiah issues a order to free all Jewish slaves, perhaps hoping this will win God's favor. The law said Jewish slaves should be freed after six years, but the practice had lapsed. Now the owners free their slave but go back on their undertaking to make this permanent. The slaves are forced into slavery again- and God condemns the owners as law-breakers.
V21: There was a temporary let-up while Nebuchadnezzar dealt with Pharaoh's army.
Covenant is an reverence oath, violent to the covenant will like the calf they cut in two - die in peaces. Especially the covenant with the Lord.
Freedom for the slaves is one of the mercy from the Lord, if you don't freedoms for others, the Lord won't freedoms our bondage from others. Jesus makes us free from the sin.
How?
My hope comes from the Lord, the maker of heaven and earth. He makes me free. I shall be peace and rest in his arm. Why should I worry or unhappy to my situation? I am free from all of my concerning, for the Lord is my fortress.

Things will happen according to God's ordering

Jeremiah 33:1-26
The Lord is his name: 'Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.'
The voice of those who bring thank offering to the house of the Lord, saying "Give thanks to the Lord Almighty, for the Lord is good; his love endures forever."
In those days and at that time I will make a righteous Branch sprout from David's line; he will do what is just and right in the land.  In those days Judah will be saved and Jerusalem will live in safety. This is the name by which it will be called: The Lord Our Righteousness.' -- Jesus Christ
The Lord promised "If I have not covenant with day and night and the fixed laws of heaven and earth, then I will reject the descendants of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. For I will restore their fortunes and have compassion on them.
Why?
The Lord give us a hope that when we call to his name, he will answer me and tell us great and unsearchable things. We have to pray and wait.
The Lord is the name of our God, the Lord Almighty.
Jesus Christ is the Lord our Righteousness.
Jeremiah is still being held prisoner by King Zedekiah, as in the previous chapter. The theme is once again future restoration. Where God has torn down, he will rebuild, Joy and prosperity will return, and an ideal king will rule.
This will happen as surely as night follows day according to God's ordering.
In those day and at that time is the time schedule of the Lord.
How?
Things will happen according to God's ordering, what I can do is praying and waiting, while I do what is good in present of the Lord.

The Lord Almighty, great are your purposes and mighty are your deeds.

Jeremiah 32:1-44
The Lord asked Jeremiah bought the land of his cousin, for Jeremiah is nearest relative and duty to buy it. So Jeremiah spent 17 shekels of silver bought the field at Anathoth from his cousin Hanamel and took the deed of purchase- the sealed copy containing the terms and conditions, as well as the unsealed copy.
Jeremiah prayed to the Lord how this going on?
The Lord reply that I will restore their fortunes, I have brought all this great calamity on this people, so I will give them all the prosperity I have promised them. Once more fields will be bought in this land.
The Lord Almighty, great are your purposes and mighty are your deeds. Your eyes are open to all the ways of men; you reward everyone according to his conduct and as his deeds deserve.
Why?
In Jeremiah's time Jerusalem was besieged, there were famine, word and plague, who will buy a field, for all of these will be gone, it was waste money to buy a field. God's words and Jeremiah bought this field is a prophesy for show what the plan of God will do on this land.
It is 588/7: Jerusalem is under siege, and Jeremiah's hoe town, Anathoth, in enemy hands. Cousin Hanamel is some optimist, coming to the imprisoned prophet to try to sell land at a time like this!
Amazingly, Jeremiah buys- and his purchase shouts the message:'God has a future for Judah. 'Everyone in the city must have heard about it. Jeremiah acts under orders from God; only afterwards does he admit his puzzlement.
In answer God outlines his immediate, and his ultimate purpose for the nation.
Baruch, Jeremiah's secretary, makes his first appearance in verse 12, then in chapters 36, 45
How?
Servant of the Lord do something is sign from the Lord, but from perspective of human likes a fool man, for His eyes and His mind is beyond all of human being. Follow the words of the Lord is good to us forever.

Restore me, and I will return, because you are the Lord my God.

Jeremiah 31:15-40
Retrain your voice from weeping and your eyes from tears, for your work will be rewarded. They will return from the land of the enemy. So there is hope for your future.
Restore me, and I will return, because you are the Lord my God.
The Lord will create a new thing on earth - a women will surround(go about seeking or protect) a man.
In those days everyone will die for his own sin; whoever eats sour grapes - his own teeth will be set on edge.
"The time is coming when I will make a new covenant with house of Israel and with the house of Judah," declares the Lord.
I will put my law in their minds and write it on their hearts. I will be their God and they will be my people. They will all know me, from the least of them to the greatest.
The Lord declares the descendants of Israel won't cease to be a nation before He, unless the world and nature rule are vanish.
Why?
Restore me: Convert me, and I shall be converted. I am now willing to take thy yoke upon me, but I have no power.
A new covenant will replace the old one made at Sinai, which they have broken.
This time God will remake them from within, giving them the power to do his will.
The words of Jeremiah here, like those of Isaiah, have a short-term and long-term future. He is talking of the actual return from exile, yet there is more to be fulfilled.
New covenant is written in our heart not one the tablet. We have to take responsibility to our sin, not relate to the forefather's deeds.
When we are people of God, our work will be rewarded. How great is Thee.
I will return to my country, I will restore after disciplined here. The day will coming.
How?
Wait for the time of the Lord, make sign for myself. The Lord won't forsake me, his love endure forever, his righteous endure forever.
Restore me, and I will return, because you are the Lord my God. I like to take the yoke of the Lord, but I have not strength, O Lord help me!

The Lord turns mourning into galdness

Jeremiah 31:1-14
At that time, I will be the God of all the clans of Israel and they will be my people."
There will be a day when watchmen cry out on the hills of Ephraim,'Come, let us go up to Zion, to the Lord our God.'
Again you will plant vineyards on the hills of Samaria; Again you will take up your tambourines and go out to dance with the joyful.
I will turn their mourning into gladness; I will give them comfort and joy instead of sorrow.
I will satisfy the priests with abundance, and my people will be filled with my bounty賞金, declare the Lord.
The exiles will return rejoicing to their homeland.
Why?
At that time: 70 years later to Israel, one day Jesus will come back with cloud and glory, we do not know it.
Jesus turn mourning into gladness, He give us comfort and joy instead of sorrow.
The Lord will satisfy us with abundance and his people with bounty when we follow his commands and trust in God.
Again and again, turn back to home, the home we may rest our soul and life where is with the Lord.
How?
Come to the Lord he will give rest to us. where is my home? it is in the Heaven.

The Lord is justice and is full of mercy

Jeremiah 30:1-24
In days to come you will understand this- God's plan, his heart and his fierce anger.
The Lord promised he will bring his people Israel and Judah back from captivity ad restore them to the land He gave their forefather to posses. How awful that day will be! None will be like it. It ill be a time of trouble for Jacob, but he will be save out of it.
"I will discipline you but only with justice; I will not let you go entirely unpunished.'
Why do you cry out over your wound, your pain that has no cure? Because of your great guilt and many sins I have done these things to you.
Why?
At the nation's darkest hour, comes a message of hope. When it looks like total extinction, God promises his people a future.
They will be saved ad restored. the exiles will return rejoicing to their homeland.
The words of Jeremiah here, like those of Isaiah, have a short-term and long-term future significance. He is talking of the actual return from exile, yet there is more to be fulfilled.
IN days to come we will understand, we need the hope and faith in God's word now.
All of the wound and pain of Judah came, because of there guilt and sin and God have to disciple them with His justice. God has mercy and justice both.
How?
Jesus has come and bring a hope and salvation to us. Holy Spirit is come to his believers. Let us could come close to the Lord, how great this mercy to us. Don't let Jesus worries for us again. Be strong and encourage to follow Jesus.

Fear the Lord. His name is Holy

Jeremiah 29:21-32
There were three false prophets written here, Ahan son of Kolaiah  and Zedekiah son of Maaseiah, who are prophesying lies to you in God's name. They will be handed over to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon by the Lord, he will be put to death before your very eyes.
Shemaiah the Nehelamite said to priest Zephaniah,' The Lord has appointed you priest in place of Jehoiada to be in charge of the house of the Lord; you should put any madman who acts like a prophet into the stocks and neck-irons.'
After Zephaniah read the letter to Jeremiah , the word of the Lord came to Jeremiah, ' Because Shemaiah has prophesied to you, even though I did not send him, and has led you to believe to him, I will surely punish Shemaiah and his descendants. He will have no one left among this people, nor will he see the good things I will do for my people.'
Why?
The false prophets predicted a swift return. Jeremiah advises the exiles to settle down and live a normal life: the exile will last 70 years. then they will return. But even from Babylon his enemies try to stir up trouble from him.
Those false prophets they did not fear the Lord so they prophesy in the name of the Lord. The Lord is a living God, he won't allow people speak in His name without His permission. The curse from the Lord is terrible thing.
How?
Fear the Lord, for His name is Holy and Almighty.

With the Lord I have hope and future

Jeremiah 29:1-20
Jeremiah wrote letter to the exiles and to the priests, elders and all the other people Nebuchadnezzar had carried into exile from Jerusalem.
"Plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then your will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. I will be found by you," declares by the Lord ," and will bring you back from captivity. I fill gather you from all the nations and places where I have banished you."
"Do not let the prophets and diviners among you deceive you. DO not listen to the dreams you encourage them to have. They are prophesying lies to you in my name. I have not sent them."
Why?
The exile to whom Jeremiah writes are the captives deported with King Jehoiachin, among them Ezekiel.
The Lord has plan to rebuild his people from the captive who was exiled to Babylon.
When I seek the Lord with all my heart, I will seek the Lord.
How?
With the Lord I have hope and future, seek the Lord with all my heart, all my soul and all my strength.

Be recognized as one truly sent by the Lord only if his prediction comes true.

Jeremiah 28:1-17
The prophet who prophesies peace will be recognized as one truly sent by the Lord only if his prediction comes true.
In the fifth month of that same year, the fourth year, early in the reign of Zedikiah king of Judah, the prophet Hananiah son of Azzur, who was from Gibeon, he said the Lord will break the yoke of the king of Babylon within two years and took the yoke off the neck if the prophet Jeremiah and broke it
Shortly after the prophet Hananiah Had broken the yoke off the neck of the prophet Jeremiah, the word of the Lord came to Jeremiah: Go and tell Hananiah, you have broken a wooden yoke, but its place you will get a yoke of iron. I will put a iron yoke on the necks of all these nations to make them server Nebuchadnezzar.
Jeremiah said to Hananiah the prophet, he will be removed from the face of the earth. This very year you are going to die because you have preached rebellion against the Lord.  In the seventh month of that same year, Hananiah the prophet died.
Why?
The time proves the truth of Jeremiah's word. Any prophet who falsely claims to speak for God is under sentence of death.
Only the word sent by the Lord comes true. Time will approve who is the false prophet.
People like peace but if they do evil deed and do not return to the Lord, the destination is dead and disaster.
How?
Speak in true is the way of Lord, say yes to the true and say not to the false. Honest to be a man.

Wooden joke on the neck

Jeremiah 27:1-22
The words of the Lord came to Jeremiah, not only Judah but also to the kings of Edom, Moab, Ammon, Tyre and Sidon, if they bow your neck under the yoke of the king of Babylon; serve him and his people, and you will let that nation remain in it own land till it and to live there.
Jeremiah make a yoke out of straps and crossbars and put it on his neck to speak the parable to those people.
Do not listen those who are prophesying lies to you. 'I have not sent them,' declares the Lord.
The Lord let everything inverses results as the false prophet said to the priests and people of Judah. Babylonia will taken everything to Babylon and there they will remain until the day God comes for them.
It is 597. The Babylonians have taken the first captives from Jerusalem and placed King Zedekiah on the throne. But the Babylonian king has troubles at home, and in the small nations to the west, including Judah, revolt is in the air.
Why?
The nation of the Lord is not the nations of the words, the way of the Lord is not the way of human beings thinking. It is good to people, but it does not mean please to the Lord.
Jeremiah walks the streets of the city wearing a wooden yoke in token of submission to Babylon. Only by servitude can Judah and the nations escape destruction. It was not a popular message, and provoked a head-on clash with the false prophets.
The time is hands of the Lord.
How?
Mediate the words of the Lord, does it coincidence between our hearing and the words of the Lord in Bible? Then we will know it is the words of the Lord.
Searching for the way of the Lord is not depends on my prospective good or not but on the sign of the Lord. I am bowing down my neck to the Lord.

In truth the Lord

Jeremiah 26:1-24
Once again, the Lord asked Jeremiah stood in the courtyard of the Lord's house and speak to all the people of the towns of Judah. Perhaps they will listen to God's word, each will turn from their evil way, God will not bring disaster to them. if you do not listen to me and follow my law, which I have set before you, then I will make this house like Shiloh and this city an object of cursing among all the nations of the earth.
The priests, the prophets and all the people heard it, they seized Jeremiah and said ' you must die! Why do you prophesy in the Lord's name.
Jeremiah replied '"As for me, I am in your hands; do with me whatever you think is good and right. Be assured, however, that if you put me to death, you will bring the guilt of innocent blood on yourselves and on this city and on those who live in it, for in truth the Lord has sent me to you to speak all these words in your hearing."
Some of the elders of the land didn't agree put Jeremiah to death, Micah prophesied in the days of Hezekiah king of Judah. Hezekiah feared the Lord and seek his favor. The Lord relented and did not bring the disaster to them.
Ahikam  support Jeremiah, and so he was not handed over to the people to be put to death.
Why?
The date is 609, when King Jehoiakim's reign began, or soon after. It was one of those times when it is dangerous to declare the plain truth of God and Jeremiah's straight speaking in the Temple almost cost him his life.
The name of God still counted for something among the rulers and people. Uriah( known only from this passage) was less fortunate. The support of a court official, Ahikam saved the day for Jeremiah.
The law said that a false prophet should be put to death (Deut 18:20). But Jeremiah is recognized as a true prophet of God.
The Lord has mercy to Judah, gave them one more opportunity to return from their evil way.
Jeremiah did not care his life but the words of the Lord.
Jeremiah's life was keeping from the Lord be saved.
Be careful the word be proclaimed in the name of the Lord. When we know it is asked us turn to the righteous and good way, that is truth.
How?
Reading the words of the Lord, we will know what is the truth and turn away from evil way.

The cup of God's wrath

Jeremiah 25:15-38
The cup of God's wrath gave to all nations, when they drink it, they will stagger(stumble) and go mad(crazy) because of the sword God sent among them. Those nations are from Egypt to all the kingdoms in the face of the earth. And after all of them, the king of Sheshach(Babylon) will drink it too.
Weep and wail, you shepherds; roll in the dust, you leaders of the flock. For your time to be slaughtered has come; you will fall and be shattered like fine pottery.
The shepherd will have nowhere to flee, the leaders of the flock no place to escape. For the Lord is destroying their pasture.
Their land will because desolate because of the sword of the oppressor and because of the Lord's fierce anger.
Why?
The cup of God' wrath is the destroy from the Lord, let them fell and be shattered.
The shepherds and leader of the flock, they should guide the sheep, but they didn't so they will be punished without excuse.
Finally Babylon will be destroyed for their proud and evil deeds.
How?
The anger of the Lord will come in his time to the nations. He is righteous and full of mercy. Waiting for the Lord, and trust in Him.

Be a real Christian, to be is more important than to say

Jeremiah 25:1-14
Jeremiah declared the word form the Lord, all the people of Judah will serve the king of Babylon seventy years. This whole country will become desolate wasteland.
Jeremiah has spoken to them again and again, but they have not listened.
When the seventy years are fulfilled, God will punish the king of Babylon and his nation for their guilt, and will make it desolated forever.
God will repay them according to their deeds and the work of their hands.
Why?
The year of 605, when Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon routed the Egyptians at Carchemish. For 23 years Jeremiah has been repeating God's message, and still the people remain unmoved. Now he tells them that the city will fall and they will serve the Babylonians for 70 years in exile. The judgment of God will also fall on the pagan nations who richly deserve it and on Babylon itself.
God's judgement is according to their deeds and the work of their hands, not on what they spoke. Say I am a christian does not mean is real Christian, but what he  have done.
Why people did not listen to the Lord? for their heart was blocked by the wicked mind.  How sad is a man's heart is dead like a stone, his conscious are lost.
How?
Keep my heart with the Lord, O Lord, keep my heart don't leave away from you for you are my savior and my rock.

Two baskets of figs

Jeremiah 24:1-10
Two baskets of figs showed to Jeremiah, it is meaning of two kinds of destination of the people of Judah, good one is the exiles from Judah, bad one is the one remain in Jerusalem or went to Egypt.
The Lord will water over the good one, build them up and not tear the down, give them a heart to know God. They will be people of God, they will return to God with all their heart.
The poor figs, are Zedekiah king of Judah, his officials and the survivors from Jerusalem, whether they remain in this land or live in Egypt will be destroyed from the land by sword, famine and plague.
Why?
The date of Jeremiah's vision of the two basket of figs in front of God's Temple is some time after 597.
The exiles are the cream of God's people(Ezekiel was among these first captives. Daniel and his friends, according to Daniel 1:1-7, were in Babylon earlier still.)
God is shaping a future for them. For those who remain in Judah there is no future but destruction. Yet through Jeremiah God still perseveres with his 'bad figs'
Heart : The concept is all-inclusive: mind, will and emotions.
How?
Don't let the Lord disappoint to us. Keep my mind, my will and emotion on the Lord for He is good in everything to those who follow his words.

Is not my word like fire?and like a hammer?

Jeremiah 23:16-40
False prophets speak false hopes and speak vision from their own minds, speaks good words which people like to hear.
In days to come, you will understand it clearly, which is the truth, who are speak the words of the Lord.
If they had stood in my council, they would have proclaimed my words to my people ad would have turned them from their evil ways.
"Is not my word like fire", declares the Lord, "and like a hammer that breaks a rock in pieces"?
The Lord will bring upon false prophets, they claimed 'the oracle of the Lord', everlasting disgrace - everlasting shame that will not be forgotten.
Why?
With such a message, it is not surprising that Jeremiah encountered bitter hatred from the priests and prophets - as Jesus did(Matt 21:45 about priest and Pharisees)
Words of the Lord like fire in our heart and like hammer breaks a rock in our heart in pieces.
Stand in God council says the words of God, if a man stands in his own benefit or wants to get the applause from men, he is false prophet.
How?
Speak the truth, do not lie. Speak for the glory of the Lord, not for the joy from men. The words of the Lord like fire burn in my heart that is the power of the words of the Lord.

This land

Jeremiah 23:1-15
The Lord will raise up to David a righteous Branch, a King who will reign wisely and do what is just and right in the land.
There were many shepherds who have scattered my flock and driven them away and bestow care on them, so the Lord will bestow賜給punishment on them for the evil them have done.
The prophets were lying and let the land full of adulterers; because of the curse the land lies parched ad the pastures in the desert are withered.
The Lord Almighty says concerning the prophets: " I will make them eat bitter food ad drink poisoned water, because from the prophets of Jerusalem ungodliness has spread throughout the land."
The prophets who in the northern kingdom had served Baal. That was bad enough. But in Judah the prophets are all as bad as the people of Sodom and Gomorrah.
Why?
The government and religious leaders alike receive a stinging rebuke. Misrule, and the lies pronounced in God;s name, will not go unpunished.
Then come a wonderful promise. One day God will set on the throne a king of his own choice. The deliverance from exile will put the old exodus from Egypt into the shade.
The land is bestowed from the Lord, when people full of adulterers, the Lord will drive them all out of the Lord.
Shepherds and prophets are servants of the Lord, they should do their job to tend the sheep of God and proclaim God's word.
How?
May the Lord gives just and right in the land. May the population turn to the Lord throughout the land. Doing just and right is my obligation.

Alas

Jeremiah 22:18-30
The Lord says about Jehoiakim so of Josiah king of Judah: "They will not mourn for him: 'Alas, my brother! Alas, my sister!' He will have the burial of a donkey- dragged away and throw outside the gates of Jerusalem.'
I warned you when you felt secure, but you said,' I will not listen!' This has been your way from your youth; you have not obeyed me.
Declared the Lord about Jehoiachin son of Jehoiakim king of Judah, "He was a signet ring on my right hand, I would still pull you off. I will hand you over to those who seek your life. You will never come back to the land you long to return to. None of his offspring will prosper, none will sit on the throne of David or rule anymore in Judah."
Why?
This prophecy is earlier than chapter 21. Jehoiakim reigned from 609 to 597 - the year Jerusalem first surrendered to Babylon.
The doom-laden diatribe誹謗 in verses 13. contrasts Jehoikim - who sees his kingship in terms of cedar wood palaces- with his godly father, Josiah. No one will mourn his passing or honor his death.
Mourned in Lebanon, Basha, Abarim/Moab: Mountain ranges to the north, north-east and east of Judah.
The promise line of kings from David stops here. Jehoiachin's grandson Zerubbabel led the exiles home and became their governor, but not their king.
How?
Rebellion to the Lord and do not listen to the words of God, his destination is dead and mourn.

Don't put eyes and your heart are set only on dishonest gain?

Jeremiah 22:1-17
Do what is just and right. Rescue from the hand of the oppressor the one who has been robbed. 1)Do no wrong or violence to the foreigner, the fatherless or the widow, and 2)do not shed innocent blood in this place.- if he follow these commands, who will sit on the throne of David for ever. Requirement to a king.
The judgment comes against wicked king of Judah, Jehoahaz.
About Shallum son of Josiah, also called Jehoahaz, who succeeded his father as king of Judah but has gone from this place. He will die in the place where they have led him captive; he will not see this land again.
Did not your father have food and drink? He did what was right and justso all went well with himHe defended the cause of the poor and needyand so all went well. Is that not what it means to know me?” declares the Lord.
17 “But your eyes and your heart are set only on dishonest gainon shedding innocent blood and on oppression and extortion.

Why?
The Lord cares about the foreigner, fatherless and widow. These the needy people, treat them them with more tender and love. Rescue them from oppressor.

To be king or a person has authority needs to follow above two basic requirements.
Jehoahaz did not meditated why his father all went well, but he lack food and all go worse. For his father know the Lord and followed God's commands.
Do not set my eyes and heart on dishonest gain. Don't be a greed man.
How?
All of these story is a reminder to me, do not be a greed man, get what I should take, but do not take anything that is not belong to me, or dishonest gain.

Administer justice every morning; rescue from the hand of the oppressor

Jeremiah 21:1-14
God rejected request of king Zedekiah.
Tell Zedekiah: I will strike down those who live in this city, and they will die of a terrible plague. Gather the Babylonians inside this city.
His officials and the people: who survive the plague, sword and famine, into the hands of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon and to their enemies who want to kill them. He will put them to the sword.
Tell the people: I am setting before you the way of life and the way of death.  Whoever stays in this city will die by the sword, famine or plague. But whoever goes out and surrenders to the Babylonians who are besieging you will live.
This is what the Lord says to you, house of David: Administer justice every morning; rescue from the hand of the oppressor the one who has been robbed, or my wrath will break out and burn like fire because of the evil you have done—    burn with no one to quench it.
Why?
Under these emergence moment, the king of Judah asked for the Lord through prophet Jeremiah. But it is too late, they just heard the words of the Lord and did not follow words of the Lord.
The final warning announced to the evil kingdom. All of the city and people will be put to dead, but the Lord still let them know the way of live and the way to die, if they believe in the Lord through Jeremiah spoke.
How?
People die for his sins, the Lord is full of love no matter what you have done, repent and go back to the way of the Lord, there is chance to survive. Or the destination is terror and dead.
The Lord like justice.

His word is in my heart like a fire

Jeremiah 20:7-18
You deceived[a] me, Lord, and I was deceived[b]you overpowered me and prevailed. I am ridiculed all day long; everyone mocks me.
His word is in my heart like a firea fire shut up in my bones
But the Lord is with me like a mighty warriorso my persecutors will stumble and not prevail
Sing to the LordGive praise to the LordHe rescues the life of the needy     from the hands of the wicked.
Why did I ever come out of the womb to see trouble and sorrow and to end my days in shame?
Why?
Jeremiah was distressed under his circumstance, when he spoke the words of the Lord, people mocked him, his friends keep away from him and even planed to kill him.
Jeremiah was complain to the Lord for his situation, why he was born and saw these trouble and sorrow all his life.
But Jeremiah still praised the Lord, He is his mighty warrior, He rescues the life of the needy from the hands of the wicked.
To be a prophet of the Lord is doing and speaking the words of the Lord, wicked people don't like to hear it, even hate it, so the dangers are around them. But the Lord will protect us. Speak what the Lord said for our life is in God's hands, do not afraid but with wisdom to serve the Lord and needy people.
God's word likes fire in my heart is the feeling in Jeremiah, I believed when God's word comes to me, it will be like fire in my heart also. It will urge me go forward.
How?
Do what I can do, Say what I should say, Love whom I can love. Do not worry about it, and be still to listen the word of the Lord.

Knowing the true words

Jeremiah 20:1-6
The Priest Pashhur, official in charge of the temple of the Lord, heard Jeremiah prophesied this, he put Jeremiah in the stocks t the upper gate of Benjamin. Released him on next day.
Jeremiah said to him what Lord says about his destination and terror thing to him and his family, friends.
Why?
The Priest didn't believe what Jeremiah said from the Lord, they did not believe Judah has such bad thing happen on them. So he put Jeremiah into stock.
Why they don't know what is the truth of the word, for they are far away from the Lord, they did not read words of God and worship the Lord.
At the beginning,  man should go to see, to read and to testify the Lord is a living God, a real God. Human being is easy blind for his arrogant.
How?
Come close to God and humble ourselves and read the word of the Lord is the way to know the truth. The truth make me free.

Pray for those people they do not know the Lord

Jeremiah 19:1-15
The Lord asked Jeremiah buy a clay jar from a potter, take along some of the elders of the people and of the priests and go out to the Vally of Ben Hinnom, near the entrance of the Potsherd Gate. Procalimed that the days are coming, declare the Lord, when people will no longer call this place Topheth or the Valley of Ben Hinnom, but the Valley of Slaughter.
Break the jar while those who go with you are watching, and say to them I will smash this nation and this city just as this potter's jar is smashed and cannot be repaired.
The city of Jerusalem will be defiled like this place, Topheth. Jeremiah went to Temple and pronounced against them, because they were stiff-necked and would not listen to my words.
Jeremiah breaks his pottery jar in another acted parable.
Why?
Having got people's attention, he explains:God will break the city and people as surely as irreparably as that jug. Jeremiah goes straight from he Hinnom Valley to the Temple; and there his message lands him in trouble.
Israel is created by the Lord and is He loved one, like potter formed a jar from clay, but for their sins and did not listen to God's words, so the Lord smashed his clay jar as parable to destroy these people and city. In the Lord's angry who can stand?
How?
God's wrath come upon to the extreme evil nation and people, God is love, he hope people repent and turn their way to righteousness. O Lord, please have pity on those people who does not know you, let them return to you, this is my prayer.

Plotter shaping from the clay in his hands

Jeremiah 18:1-23
The Lord asked Jeremiah went to the potter's house to see how the plotter shaping from the clay in his hands; the potter formed it shaping it as seems best to him.
So as the Lord has right to treat the nations or kingdoms in his hands. The Lord may change his plan or had intended to do for it, depends on the people doing good or evil.
Inquire among the nations: Who has ever heard anything like this? A most horrible thing has been done by Virgin Israel.
The Lord warned the people of Judah again, I am preparing a disaster for you and devising a plan against you. So turn from your evil ways, each one of you, and reform your ways and your actions. But they will reply, 'It's no use. We will continue with our own plans; each of us will follow the stubbornness of his evil heart.'
They also make plan against Jeremiah, so Jeremiah pray to the Lord, asked the Lord remember that he stood before God and spoke in their behalf to turn God's wrath away from them. Should good be repaid with evil? Your know,O Lord, all their plots to kill me. Do not forgive their cries or blot out their sins from your sight. Let them be overthrown before you; deal with them in the time of your anger.
This is another dramatized parable. Like the human potter, God has the unquestionable right to remould the spoilt nation.
Why?
Jeremiah's unpopular message leads to threats against his life. He is so touched on the raw by those who spurn his God-given message that he comes out with a really vengeful prayer 'Do not forgive...'. Self-justification, cursing and vengeance in the Psalms' also looks at this issue.
The Lord have plant of mercy, but if people still stiff-necked does not repent their evil way, the judgement will comes upon them, in the time of God's anger.
The time is in God's hands, he is wait for people repent and turn their heart to the Lord, gives them the opportunity for love.
Israel has done most horrible thing among nations, so the Lord turn back to them win the day of their disaster.
How?
How to form a nation, how to shaping a man is in the hands of God like a potter. My hope, my way is in hands of the Lord, do the right things and obey his commands are my responsibility. O Lord, remember what I have stood before you.

Run away from being your shepherd

Jeremiah 17:1-27
Cursed is the one who trusts in man, who depends on flesh for his strength and whose heart turns away from the Lord. He will be like a bush in the wastelands.
Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him. He will be like a tree planted by the water.
The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure. Who can understand it? I the Lord search the heart and examine the mind, to reward a man according to his conduct, according to what his deeds deserve.
The Lord once again asked Jeremiah went to the gates of Jerusalem reminded each one obey Sabbath day, do not do any word and carry a load on Sabbath day. Let Sabbath day holy.
This chapter contains a mixture of different material: a prophecy of judgment; a wisdom psalm; a personal poetic prophecy-cum-lament; and an early prose prophecy which offers hope of escaping judgment.
Why?
The Lord once again gave people of Judah chance to repent if they could obey Sabbath day, the city and nation will be blessed. Obey the Sabbath day means honor the Lord and obey his commands in his life.
The Lord reward a man and punish a man according to his conduct and his deeds. The Lord knows heart of each person, no one can hide from the Lord.
Blessed one and cursed one is quite obvious contrast here. Trust in the Lord, do not trust in the flesh for his strength.
How?
Make my life holy in my daily life, trust in the Lord, do not rely on flesh. O Lord, Heal me, and I will be healed; save me and I will be saved, for you are the one I praise. I run away from being your shepherd in this moment, I remember I have being your shepherd in my life.

Do men make their own gods? Yes, but they are not gods!

Jeremiah 16:1-21
The day of disaster is coming so the word of the Lord came to Jeremiah:"You must not marry and have sons or daughters in this place." All of them will die of deadly disease and will perish by sword and famine, become food for the birds and beasts.
Do not enter a house where there is a funeral meal; do not go to mourn or show sympathy, because I have withdrawn my blessing from this people.
Do not enter a house where there is feasting and sit down to ear and drink. For Before your eyes and in your days I will brig an end to the sounds of joy and gladness.
Why such a great disaster against us? It is because your fathers forsook me, and followed other gods and served and worshiped them. But you have behaved more wickedly than your fathers.
My eyes are on all their ways; they are not hidden fro me, nor is their sin concealed from my eyes I will repay them double for their wickedness and their sin.
O Lord, my strength and my fortress, my refuge in time of distress, to you the nations will come from the ends of the earth and says,"Our fathers possessed nothing bur false gods, worthless idols that did them o good. Do men make their own gods? Yes, but they are not gods!"
Why?
Yes, we always create a god even not by wood or metal but some idols higher than the Lord, be careful. Such as boss in working place, daughter or son, favorite fashions.
God's instruction to Jeremiah is plain: 'do not marry'. By remaining single, in a society where this was almost unheard of. Jeremiah becomes a living symbol of God's message.
Very soon there will be the most terrible famine and slaughter in Jerusalem. This is no time, no place, to raise a family.
As God removes this peace and his love from them, the people will at last know him as the Almighty. Yet God still has a future for them, and the prophet declares his confidence in God.
How?
Only in God there is peace and comfort blessing. Searching for the real peace and joy in the Lord. Do not make our own gods!
I am working under my boss, but he is not my god, his is a man, I am follow and obey the instruction of the Lord almighty. But do my responsibility in my job.

Four destinations and four devourers

Jeremiah 15:1-21
Let them go! Where shall we go? if they ask you, "Those destined for death, to death; those or the sword, to the sword; those for starvation,  to starvation; those for captivity, to captivity." There were four destinations of Judah.
The Lord sent four kinds of destroyers against them,"the sword to kill and the dogs to drag away and the birds of the air and the bests of the earth to devour and destroy." They will be killed and no one bury them.
The Lord said to Jeremiah, "Surely I will deliver you for a good purpose; surely I will make your enemies plead with you in time of disaster and time of distress."
The Lord answered Jeremiah: if you repent, I will restore you that you may serve me; if you utter worthy, not worthless, words, you will be my spokesman. Let this people turn to you, but you must not turn to them. I will make you a wall to this people, a fortified wall of bronze; they will fight you but will not overcome you, for I am with you to rescue and save you."
When Jeremiah prayed to the Lord to avenge him on his persecutors. "I will save you from the hands of the wicked and redeem you from the grasp of the cruel."
Why?
In deep suffering Jeremiah comes to God, praying against those who have paid back his faithful service and his care for them with hared, making his life for them with hatred, making his life a misery.
There is justice in his plea. It is for God's cause, and in rejecting him they reject God.
God answers the prophet's self-pity with the strong reassurance he needs.
Jeremiah prayed for them, the Lord asked Jeremiah let this people turn to you, but you must not turn to them, there are quite different result will be.
When people always rebellion to the Lord and doing evil things, all of the disaster and distress come upon them, no one will have pity on them, it is a miserable destination.
How?
To be a servant of the Lord have to repent and utter worthy, not worthless , words, them will be God's spokesman. Do not turn to them, but let them turn to the Lord. The Lord is with me.

Greatly love to wander

Jeremiah 14:1-22
There is severe and prolonged drought.
They greatly love to wander; they do not restrain their feet. So the Lord does not accept them; he will now remember their wickedness and punish them for their sins. (They wander far from me  they have not kept their feet in check They don't keep their feet where they belong.)
Although they fast, I will not listen to this people. Although they offer burnt offerings and grain offerings, I will not accept them. Instead, I will destroy them with the sword, famine and plague for their sines.
They are prophesying to you false visions, divinations, idolatries and the delusions of their own minds.
Jeremiah still prayed for the people to the Lord, for the sake of your name do not despise us; do not dishonor your glorious throne. Remember your covenant with us and do not break it.
Do any of the worthless idols of the nations bring rain? Do the skies themselves send down showers? No, it is you,  O Lord our God. Therefore our hope is in you for you are the one who does all this.
Why?
Glorious throne is the temple of the Lord in Jerusalem.
The people once again appeal to God. But God will not listen. Neither will he hear Jeremiah's pleas that they have been duped by the lies of false peophets. Yet Jeremiah goes on praying for them until God's terrible answered(15:1).
They loved to wander from the Lord, and out of the way of their duty, to Egypt and Assyria for help, and after strange gods, and the worship of them; and this they chose and delighted in; it arose from corrupt affections and a depraved heart.
They have not refrained their feet; from going into other lands, or into the temples of idols.
Not only care our mouth, but also check our feet, the way is delight to the Lord or not.
How?
Do not love to wander to anywhere far from God. Watch my step in the light of Holy Spirit.
