Ezekiel 8:1-18
The Lord come to Ezekiel and left him up to see what detestable things Israelites have done in Jerusalem.
70 elders of the house of Israel, and Jaazaniah son of Shaphen was standing among them. Each had a censer in his hand. The elders of the house of Israel are doing in the darkness, each at the shrine of his own idol. They say, 'The Lord does not see us'. Another 75 men at the entrance to the temple, they were bowing down to the sun in the east.
They putting the branch to their nose! Therefore I will deal with them in anger.
In September 592 God comes to Ezekiel second time. He is transported in vision to Jerusalem, and set down beside the Temple.
What he sees may be actually practices, or the description may be symbolic. Either way the meaning is plain.
Why?
putting the branch to their nose: Possibly a reference to some pagan practice.
Jaazaniah: His father was King Josiah's secretary of state.
Israelites includes the elders total departure from the religion of Israel.
The Lord shown these vision to Ezekiel, let us know that God's wrath is reasonable to pour upon on Israelites. All of them have against the commands of the Lord.
The Lord knows what we have done, there is not darkness in front of the Lord. God is waiting for our repent, so He does not kill them immediately.
How?
Fear the Lord, for He is God with righteousness and love forever. Nothing can hide before Him.
