Matthew 20:1-16
Parable of the workers in the Vineyard.
The principle of God's mercy: 1)God's choice, 2)The pride is God given, and 3)We are sons of the Lord, we have not right to ask for wages, we are not the workers.
Don't I have the right to do what I what with own money? Or are you envious because I am generous?
So the last will be first, and the first will be last. All Christians have the mercy from the Lord get the eternal life, but everyone has different role on the world.
The time are 9 a.m. (the third hour), 12 noon(6 hour), 3 p.m.(11 hour) and 5 p.m. - and hour before sunset, which was when the men were paid for the day;s work.
Why?
This story, illustrating Jesus' words in 19:30,comes only in Matthew. He is not talking about pay structures, or saying that all will be equal in heaven. The point is that many who expect to be made much of will be in for a rude shock in God's kingdom.
God will honor some very unexpected people. Eternal life is for all who will receive it: 'good' and 'bad', young and old.
The remarkable thing is the landowner's - not his unfairness.
How?
God is the Lord who has the authority to made the way for each one and in the kingdom of heaven all are equal.
