Ahaz followed the ways of the kings of Israel and also made idols for worshiping

2 Chronicles 28:1-15
Ahaz was twenty years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem sixteen years. Unlike David his father, he did not do what was right in the eyes of the Lord. He followed the ways of the kings of Israel and also made idols for worshiping the Baals. 
Therefore the Lord his God delivered him into the hands of the king of Aram. The Arameans defeated him and took many of his people as prisoners and brought them to Damascus.
He was also given into the hands of the king of Israel, who inflicted heavy casualties on him. 6 In one day Pekah son of Remaliah killed a hundred and twenty thousand soldiers in Judah—because Judah had forsaken the Lord, the God of their ancestors.

But a prophet of the Lord named Oded was there, And now you intend to make the men and women of Judah and Jerusalem your slaves. But aren’t you also guilty of sins against the Lord your God? Now listen to me! Send back your fellow Israelites you have taken as prisoners, for the Lord’s fierce anger rests on you."
The terrible apostasy of Ahaz brings Judah near to destruction. God even uses the idolatrous northern kingdom to punish his people and to show them up by almost unheard of clemency tot eh prisoners of was.
Why?
Worse king brought the kingdom into disaster and people suffer the war, A lot of people lost their life and property.
All of these because the Lord forsook them for they forsake God and follow the ways of the kings of Israel.
Israelites were worse as Judah, so the prophet of the Lord warned them.

亞哈斯犧牲自己的兒女生命只為了自己的私利。
被亞蘭、和北國擄掠是神的管教，這個已經不是第一次了，讓猶大國淺嚐亡國的滋味、苦果。
先知俄德的話：1)因為神要管教他們，不是我們強大，2)沒有要他們大行殺戮，3)不要因為神藉他們手來管教，但是不要忘記也是不義的人。所以當我們在管教人時，要記得我們也是罪人。
以色列人聽從先知的話也是很難得的。已經到手的東西怎能再拿出來呢?他們能聽話非常難得。
烈怒要臨到他們，他們雖然得勝，且看不到烈怒跡象，居然相信這警告。管教人的，打勝仗的以色列人很聽話，被管教的猶大王反而不願意聽管教。撒馬利亞的人是拜偶像的，這是神的憐憫、神的作為。讓我們思想我們自己到底是北國的人，還是南國的人?
