2 Chronicles 29:1-19
Hezekiah was twenty-five years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem twenty-nine years. He did what was right in the eyes of the Lord, just as his father David had done.
In the first month of the first year of his reign, he opened the doors of the temple of the Lord and repaired them. He brought in the priests and the Levites, assembled them in the square on the east side 5 and said: “Listen to me, Levites! Consecrate yourselves now and consecrate the temple of the Lord, the God of your ancestors. Remove all defilement from the sanctuary. Our parents were unfaithful; they did evil in the eyes of the Lord our God and forsook him. Therefore, the anger of the Lord has fallen on Judah and Jerusalem; he has made them an object of dread and horror and scorn, as you can see with your own eyes. This is why our fathers have fallen by the sword and why our sons and daughters and our wives are in captivity.
They began the consecration on the first day of the first month, and by the eighth day of the month they reached the portico of the Lord. For eight more days they consecrated the temple of the Lord itself, finishing on the sixteenth day of the first month.
Hezekiah's first concern is to restore the Temple to its proper use. The detailed account of the cleansing and rededication of the desecrated Temple is characteristic of the Chronicler.
Why?
Hezekiah knew his county downfall and he knew the reason why his people have fallen by the sword and in captivity. Because they did evil in the eyes of the Lord and the anger of the Lord has fallen on Judah.
The first thing to king Hezekiah is to clean the Temple, remove all of the defiled matter and consecrate yourselves and consecrate the Temple of the Lord.
We have to consecrate ourselves, clean our heart for our heart is the place of the Holy Spirit.
16天的預備,我們去教會,參加服事是否也先有預備。不是到了教會還在外面和弟兄姊妹聊天,遲遲進去。
How?
Keep me away from detestable things and turn to the Lord in whole of my life. For God is good to me.
