I am the Lord your God, who has set you apart from the nations.

 Leviticus 20:1-27

Any Israelite or any foreigner residing in Israel who sacrifices any of his children to Molek is to be put to death. The members of the community are to stone him.

Anyone who has a sexual relationship with his relatives has to be put to death.

You must not live according to the customs of the nations I am going to drive out before you. Because they did all these things, I abhorred them. But I said to you, “You will possess their land; I will give it to you as an inheritance, a land flowing with milk and honey.” I am the Lord your God, who has set you apart from the nations.

You must therefore make a distinction between clean and unclean animals and between unclean and clean birds. Do not defile yourselves by any animal or bird or anything that moves along the ground—those that I have set apart as unclean for you. You are to be holy to me because I, the Lord, am holy, and I have set you apart from the nations to be my own.

A man or woman who is a medium or spiritist among you must be put to death. You are to stone them; their blood will be on their own heads.

Verse 6-21 lists the penalties for disobedience to laws in chapters 18 and 19. That such a wide range of offences should be punishable by death seems incredibly harsh to the modern reader. Where we remove wrongdoers from the community by putting them in prison, these laws remove them by death; a kind of moral/judicial surgery.) All - it is worth noting - are in deliberate defiance of God's holy law, or offences against people: none relate to property.

Why?

All of these penalties are set Israelite away from the evil behavior and culture where they will enter.

Christians are living among foreigner culture, we have to set apart from this world, we obey the law in heaven, for we belong to the kingdom of the Lord. 

So the behavior and the image of a Christian is showing among our neighbor.

聖潔的兩性關係:是聖潔的核心。都是以自我為中心,為圖利自己,才會不顧親人。

不是大家都覺得好的事就都沒關係,道德法律多屬公義,但是我們不是單單如此。有些事可能沒有受害者,而是違背神的屬性,即使兩相情願也是神不允許的,這不是以投票來決定的。因爲神是聖潔的。

Keep all my decrees and all my laws and follow them. I am the Lord.

 Leviticus 19:20-37

If a man sleeps with a female slave who is promised to another man but who has not been ransomed or given her freedom, there must be due punishment.

For three years you are to consider it forbidden; it must not be eaten. In the fourth year all its fruit will be holy, an offering of praise to the Lord. But in the fifth year you may eat its fruit. In this way your harvest will be increased. I am the Lord your God.

Do not cut the hair at the sides of your head or clip off the edges of your beard.

Do not cut your bodies for the dead or put tattoo marks on yourselves.

‘Do not turn to mediums or seek out spiritists, for you will be defiled by them.

Stand up in the presence of the aged, show respect for the elderly and revere your God.

When a foreigner resides among you in your land, do not mistreat them. 

Do not use dishonest standards when measuring length, weight or quantity. 

God also concerned about the natural world, how we care for his creation. Patience while a tree is immature means better long-term yields.

Why?

Respect the law of this nature, honer the name of the Lord, first achievement from the land give it to the Lord. Then the land will be blessed.

Respect our body and hair, do not follow the foreign culture or fashion style, because I am a follower of the Lord.

Worship the Lord only for God is the Lord, no one can compare with the Lord.

我是耶和華出現15次,這是自有永有的意思。神是自有,不是受造的。強調神是聖潔的。

Do not seek revenge or bear a grudge against anyone among your people, but love your neighbor as yourself.

 Leviticus 19:1-18

Be holy because I, the Lord your God, am holy.

Do not go over your vineyard a second time or pick up the grapes that have fallen. Leave them for the poor and the foreigner. I am the Lord your God.

I am the LordDo not defraud or rob your neighborDo not hold back the wages of a hired worker overnight‘Do not curse the deaf or put a stumbling block in front of the blind. Do not pervert justice; do not show partiality to the poor or favoritism to the great, 

Do not go about spreading slander among your people. 

Do not hate a fellow Israelite in your heart. Do not seek revenge or bear a grudge against anyone among your people, but love your neighbor as yourself. 

Keep my decrees.

This chapter echoes the Ten Commandments. Verse 2 stands at the heart of the moral law for Jew and Christian alike. God's holiness, the holiness we are to reflect, shows itself in concern for the underprivileged: God cares about the poor, the foreigner, the disabled. God wants to see honesty, fair dealing, impartial justice; God cares if wages are delayed. He calls his people to respect life and reputation.

Why?

For God is holy so we have to do anything like his people with love, with righteousness, with fair impartial justice.

Love your neighbor as yourself, it is the highest target to show our love from the Lord. For we are sinner bur God has loved us first.

How?

Be holy and keep God's decrees for God is holy.

Unlawful Sexual Relations

 Leviticus 18:1-30

The Lord said to Moses, “Speak to the Israelites and say to them: ‘I am the Lord your God. You must not do as they do in Egypt, where you used to live, and you must not do as they do in the land of Canaan, where I am bringing you. Do not follow their practices. You must obey my laws and be careful to follow my decrees. I am the Lord your God. Keep my decrees and laws, for the person who obeys them will live by them. I am the Lord.

Do not have sexual relations with both a woman and her daughter. Do not have sexual relations with either her son’s daughter or her daughter’s daughter; they are her close relatives. That is wickedness.

Do not approach a woman to have sexual relations during the uncleanness of her monthly period.

Do not have sexual relations with your neighbor’s wife and defile yourself with her.

Do not give any of your children to be sacrificed to Molek, for you must not profane the name of your God. I am the Lord.

Do not have sexual relations with a man as one does with a woman; that is detestable.

Do not have sexual relations with an animal and defile yourself with it. A woman must not present herself to an animal to have sexual relations with it; that is a perversion.

Everyone who does any of these detestable things—such persons must be cut off from their people. Keep my requirements and do not follow any of the detestable customs that were practiced before you came and do not defile yourselves with them. I am the Lord your God.

18:3 provides a key to these chapters. You must not do as they do in Egypt, where you used to live, and you must not do as they do in the land of Canaan, where I am bringing you.

From what we know of Canaanite and Egyptian religions it is clear that many of these laws are directed against the specific practices of Israel's neighbors.

6-18: marriage between those closely related by blood or by marriage is forbidden in Israel. In Egypt, which had no marriage-laws, such marriages were common.

19-30: adultery, child-sacrifice, homosexual relations, bestiality were all part of the indescribably debased religions of Canaan. Israel is to shun behavior which is bringing God's judgment on the land.

Why?

For the Lord is my God so we can not do as the foreigner, the people did in Egypt and Canaan.

There are wrong sexual relationships so the Lord removed them, it is detestable things, wickedness.

Some customs in Taiwan are incorrect, so we should preach the gospel, let more people away from these wickedness.

因為以色列人離開的埃及及迦南地的兩性關係非常隨便,混亂。不僅骨肉之視,妻子的姊妹也不行。不可同性戀,不可行逆性的事。當時的環境已經存在的事。

很像今天的自由主義者,認為一切開放,只要法律允許,沒有道德的問題。基督徒不是合法就好,而是要合乎聖經的事。不要以是否合法的事來行事,唯基督徒要做合聖經的事。我們跟隨的是耶穌基督。不是跟隨世界的法律。

Eating blood forbitten

 Leviticus 17:1-16

Any Israelite who sacrifices an ox, a lamb or a goat in the camp or outside of it instead of bringing it to the entrance to the tent of meeting to present it as an offering to the Lord in front of the tabernacle of the Lord—that person shall be considered guilty of bloodshed; they have shed blood and must be cut off from their people.

They must no longer offer any of their sacrifices to the goat idols to whom they prostitute themselves. This is to be a lasting ordinance for them and for the generations to come.

I will set my face against any Israelite or any foreigner residing among them who eats blood, and I will cut them off from the people.  For the life of a creature is in the blood, and I have given it to you to make atonement for yourselves on the altar; it is the blood that makes atonement for one’s life. Therefore I say to the Israelites, “None of you may eat blood, nor may any foreigner residing among you eat blood.

Any Israelite or any foreigner residing among you who hunts any animal or bird that may be eaten must drain out the blood and cover it with earth, because the life of every creature is its blood

Anyone, whether native-born or foreigner, who eats anything found dead or torn by wild animals must wash their clothes and bathe with water, and they will be ceremonially unclean till evening; then they will be clean. 

Why?

For the blood is the life of all creatures, And blood has given to us to make atonement for us on the altar, it erases our sins. It is Holy.

Anyone can not give sacrifice to the other gods, for our God is the Holy God, not one can serve the Lord and serve other goat idols.

So I won't eat any blood for I respect each life in the world, it is the work of the Lord created.

Because we are God's sons and followers so I obey God's command and it is good to me.

唯一的道路: 透過耶穌基督才能贖罪、成為聖潔。

1.禁令一:不能在會幕以外的地方宰殺牛羊。這是在曠野才有的禁令,曠野沒有什麼牛羊,牛羊是提供牛奶重要來源。怕隨便宰殺,隨處獻祭。進迦南地後,因為住地離會幕遠,而廢止。此時宰殺是少有的,為還願、感恩殺牛羊,就以平安祭來處理才享用,因為是家中的大事。每餐的謝飯禱告表示這是神所賜的恩典。

2.禁令二:獻祭只能在會幕進行,不可在會幕或是聖殿以外的地方獻祭。用心靈和誠實來敬拜神,其實是用真理來敬拜神,在神的證話語中敬拜神。不允許在耶路撒冷以外的地方敬拜神。這一條到聖殿的路就是回到上帝的路,這是舊約的路。新約時代只有耶穌基督是唯一的路。會幕或是聖殿預表耶穌。不可因為自己的方便而妥協!當我們想到是自己的方便,可能已經違背神的真理了。敬拜是為了滿足神的心意,不是滿足人的要求。

3.禁令三:不可吃血。尊重生命,血用來贖罪,極聖潔,要慎重。人吃肉因為人有罪,人犯罪以後人必須吃肉。人不能再當地球主宰,不能為所欲為,神不允許人吃血,要尊重生命。不要糟蹋神的恩典。

Atonement is to be made once a year for all the sins of the Israelites

 Leviticus 16:23-34

Aaron, He shall bathe himself with water in the sanctuary area and put on his regular garments. Then he shall come out and sacrifice the burnt offering for himself and the burnt offering for the people, to make atonement for himself and for the people. He shall also burn the fat of the sin offering on the altar. 

The man who releases the goat as a scapegoat must wash his clothes and bathe himself with water; afterward, he may come into the camp.

The man who burns them must wash his clothes and bathe himself with water; afterward, he may come into the camp.

his is to be a lasting ordinance for you: On the tenth day of the seventh month you must deny yourselves and not do any work—whether native-born or a foreigner residing among you— because on this day atonement will be made for you, to cleanse you. Then, before the Lord, you will be clean from all your sins. It is a day of sabbath rest, and you must deny yourselves; it is a lasting ordinance. 

Atonement is to be made once a year for all the sins of the Israelites.

So year after year, Israel was reminded of the sin which cut them off from God's presence - of the need for atonement to bring forgiveness and restore relations. 

The New Testament Letter to the Hebrews sees Leviticus fulfilled in Christ. The trapping s of the first covenant is 'symbolic, point to the present time'. Christ, the high priest of the 'new covenant', has entered, not a 'sanctuary made by human hands', but 'heaven itself, to appear before God on our behalf., appearing 'once for all at the climax of history to abolish sin by the sacrifice of himself'.

Why?

The sin offering is to make atonement is to be made once a year, for it is a symbolic ceremony, until Jesus Christ who is the gift from heaven, gives us a new covenant.

Everyone who makes atonement has to wash his clothes and bathe himself with water because it is a holy work and has to erase all relative to the sin.

如何才能成為聖潔?唯一的道路是進入至聖所。前面赦罪的道路,方法。人的責任是獻上願意悔改的心。

1.23- 28: 壇上燒油(腰子、油),在營外燒皮、肉、糞,獻上油和腰子,內心深處。身體、肉是罪身必須在營外燒掉,不能在聖所內。我們如果沒有肉身的死與皮肉糞沒有燒掉,沒有死,雖然心得救,但是肉體、舊人沒有死,因此沒有新生的樣式。

29節克苦己心,守安息日,不要工作,注重生命、不要再忙生活。克苦己心不是虐待自己,是重於安息。我們既然得到赦罪之恩,就要重視這個恩典。與耶穌基督同死同活。看與主的關係比生活更重要。

Thanks to the Lord, Jesus Christ once sacrificed himself to an everlasting atonement to all who accept Jesus and trust in Him, afterward, we could be renewed before the Lord.

The atonement

 Leviticus 16:1-22

The Lord said to Moses: “Tell your brother Aaron that he is not to come whenever he chooses into the Most Holy Place behind the curtain in front of the atonement cover on the ark, or else he will die. For I will appear in the cloud over the atonement cover. 

This is how Aaron is to enter the Most Holy Place: He must first bring a young bull for a sin offering and a ram for a burnt offering. He is to put on the sacred linen tunic, with linen undergarments next to his body; he is to tie the linen sash around him and put on the linen turban. These are sacred garments; so he must bathe himself with water before he puts them on. From the Israelite community he is to take two male goats for a sin offering and a ram for a burnt offering.

He is to cast lots for the two goats—one lot for the Lord and the other for the scapegoat. Aaron shall bring the goat whose lot falls to the Lord and sacrifice it for a sin offering. But the goat chosen by lot as the scapegoat shall be presented alive before the Lord to be used for making atonement by sending it into the wilderness as a scapegoat.

He is to put the incense on the fire before the Lord, and the smoke of the incense will conceal the atonement cover above the tablets of the covenant law, so that he will not die. 

The goat will carry on itself all their sins to a remote place; and the man shall release it in the wilderness.

The tenth day of the seventh month was to be the annual Day of Atonement for the nation. Only on this occasion was Aaron allowed into the innermost part of God's tent, where the Ark of the Covenant was housed. He had first to obtain forgiveness and cleansing for his own sin. Only then could he cleanse the Tabernacle and offer on behalf of the people's sins. 

So year after year, Israel was reminded of the sin which cut them off from God's presence - of the need for atonement to bring forgiveness and restore relations.

Why?

For God is Holy so any unclean and sins man could not enter the Tabernacle. 

One male goat for the scapegoat means Israelite sin is released far away each year.

人要保持潔淨是不可能的,所以神為我們預備耶穌基督成為我們的贖罪祭。

1-19赦罪的方法

大祭司自己要預備好。

11-14 要向施恩座彈公牛的血7次,為自己贖罪。山羊血7次,為百姓彈血7次,第一隻羊要死要流血。第二隻羊是代表赦罪後的結果。比喻耶穌

20-22赦罪的結果

阿撒謝勤:活著的羊牽到無人之地擔負所有人的罪。不僅免除人罪的刑罰,且勾消人所有的罪,神不再記念我們的過犯,我們也不再翻舊帳,不要控告自己,也不要控告別人。

You must keep the Israelites separate from things that make them unclean

 Leviticus 15:19-33

When a woman has her regular flow of blood, the impurity of her monthly period will last seven days, and anyone who touches her will be unclean till eveningAnything she lies on during her period will be unclean, and anything she sits on will be unclean. Anyone who touches her bed will be unclean; they must wash their clothes and bathe with water, and they will be unclean till evening.

If a man has sexual relations with her and her monthly flow touches him, he will be unclean for seven days; any bed he lies on will be unclean.

When a woman has a discharge of blood for many days at a time other than her monthly period or has a discharge that continues beyond her period, she will be unclean as long as she has the discharge, just as in the days of her period. 

When she is cleansed from her discharge, she must count off seven days, and after that she will be ceremonially clean. On the eighth day she must take two doves or two young pigeons and bring them to the priest at the entrance to the tent of meeting. The priest is to sacrifice one for a sin offering and the other for a burnt offering. In this way he will make atonement for her before the Lord for the uncleanness of her discharge.

You must keep the Israelites separate from things that make them unclean, so they will not die in their uncleanness for defiling my dwelling place, which is among them.

Neither was sinful in itself and there was no need for sacrifice. In later Judaism, only the rules concerning menstruation continued, effectively barring women from worship or contact with men at that time. In Christ, these restrictions no longer apply; no woman should be afraid to read the Bible and join in worship at such a time.

Why?

In that generation of the old testament, Tabernacleis holy place, God asked his people have to clean to worship Him. Now after Jesus came, there is no restriction about this, but let us know that we belong to the Lord, we have to keep us from the world and keep us clean, separate from this world, away from sins.

The regular flow of blood is a physical reaction to a woman, it is not sin but unclean, for her healthy, she needs to take rest at home.

Discharge is a disease of woman, it needs to be cured by a doctor, Jesus has healed the woman who was discharged. Even this woman should not touch others, but she believes Jesus could heal her so she touched Jesus.

Before Israelite enter Cannan, God warning them to keep away from their dwelling place, or they will die in their uncleanness.

How?

Keep us from unclean and sins among our living place, but to be a light to shine them.

Discharge causing uncleanness

 Leviticus 15:1-18

When any man has an unusual bodily discharge, such a discharge is unclean. Whether it continues flowing from his body or is blocked, it will make him unclean.

Whoever sits on anything that the man with a discharge sat on must wash their clothes and bathe with water, and they will be unclean till evening. Whoever touches the man who has a discharge must wash their clothes and bathe with water, and they will be unclean till evening.

When a man is cleansed from his discharge, he is to count off seven days for his ceremonial cleansing; he must wash his clothes and bathe himself with fresh water, and he will be clean. On the eighth day he must take two doves or two young pigeons and come before the Lord to the entrance to the tent of meeting and give them to the priest. The priest is to sacrifice them, the one for a sin offering and the other for a burnt offering. In this way he will make atonement before the Lord for the man because of his discharge.

When a man has an emission of semen, he must bathe his whole body with water, and he will be unclean till evening.

When a man has sexual relations with a woman and there is an emission of semen, both of them must bathe with water, and they will be unclean till evening.

Regulations are given for both normal (seminal and menstrual) and abnormal, possibly malignant, discharges. Washing is prescribed both to prevent infection and to sterilize.

Clean and unclean: The male ejection of semen, and female menstruation, rendered a man or woman ritually unclean.

Why?

Man's discharge is one of disease, maybe is a sexual disease caused by unusual sexual activity. So it is unclean, and it is unclean before the Lord.

Seminal is unclean to a man, include the mind relative to the sex, so it is unclean. So we have to face a formal sexual relationship. For our body belongs to the Lord.

私密的漏症,夢遺、月經,都是生命的流出,象徵罪所帶出的結果。這個只有自己知道,祭司不會查。但是自己不能裝作不知道。代表人要有自省的能力。

患漏症所帶出來的影響,凡是接觸到的東西、人,都是不潔淨。好像現在的無社交距離。告訴我們罪的影響力很大,即使沒有接觸到,飛沫也會傳染。即使犯隱密的罪,外表看出來,也會影響我們自己及周圍的人。似乎神不知鬼不覺,影響力仍然存在於生活中每個細節。

間接碰到的比較簡單,當天洗衣、洗澡就好了。患者自我隔離,重新調整,重新開始。

夢遺,同房本來是自然現象,就是一個再怎麼健康、怎麼謹慎小心也會沾染不潔淨,象徵人都是罪人,沒有一個人可以說沒有罪。我們都要謹慎,並且謙卑下來。我們讀聖經是為自己讀,是自己的鏡子,不是用來指出別人的錯。聖經讓我們現出原形。

Cleansing From Defiling Molds

 Leviticus 14:33-57

The priest is to order the house to be emptied before he goes in to examine the mold, so that nothing in the house will be pronounced unclean. After this, the priest is to go in and inspect the house. He is to examine the mold on the walls, and if it has greenish or reddish depressions that appear to be deeper than the surface of the wall, the priest shall go out the doorway of the house and close it up for seven days.

The priest is to go and examine it and if the mold has spread in the house, it is a persistent defiling mold; the house is unclean. It must be torn down—its stones, timbers, and all the plaster—and taken out of the town to an unclean place.

Anyone who goes into the house while it is closed up will be unclean till evening. Anyone who sleeps or eats in the house must wash their clothes.

To purify the house he is to take two birds and some cedar wood, scarlet yarn and hyssop. He shall kill one of the birds over fresh water in a clay pot. Then he is to take the cedar wood, the hyssop, the scarlet yarn and the live bird, dip them into the blood of the dead bird and the fresh water, and sprinkle the house seven times.  He shall purify the house with the bird’s blood, the fresh water, the live bird, the cedar wood, the hyssop and the scarlet yarn.  Then he is to release the live bird in the open fields outside the town. In this way he will make atonement for the house, and it will be clean.

Hyssop: A herb, possibly marjoram, containing a mild antiseptic.

Why?

This house could be contaminated by mold(霉菌).  So the priest goes to check it and make ceremonial clean. If it remains after seven days, this house has to be torn down. For it is unhealthy to living.

Our living place should be clean and holy, not only for our health but also for serving the Lord. If we are living in a mold house, we may sick and spread out to others.

房屋的大麻瘋:潮濕發霉。房屋內若有罪惡的事,例如環境在紅燈區,電視有色情、暴力、漫罵,都易使人犯罪。玩期貨、去酒吧喝酒等、去廟宇看古蹟等地方,不要自己故意去黑暗的勢力中。要遠離罪惡之處。

Holy, be holy for God is holy. Separate from this world and live out a good image of Jesus Christ. 讓我的生命不要發霉,帶著陽光、愛、喜樂與香氣!

These are the regulations for anyone who has a defiling skin disease and who cannot afford the regular offerings for their cleansing

 Leviticus 14:21-32

If, however, they are poor and cannot afford these, they must take one male lamb as a guilt offering to be waved to make atonement for them, together with a tenth of an ephah of the finest flour mixed with olive oil for a grain offering, a log of oil,  and two doves or two young pigeons, such as they can afford, one for a sin offering and the other for a burnt offering.

On the eighth day, they must bring them for their cleansing to the priest at the entrance to the tent of meeting, before the Lord.

He shall slaughter the lamb for the guilt offering and take some of its blood and put it on the lobe of the right ear of the one to be cleansed, on the thumb of their right hand and on the big toe of their right foot. The priest is to pour some of the oil into the palm of his own left hand, and with his right forefinger sprinkle some of the oil from his palm seven times before the Lord.

These are the regulations for anyone who has a defiling skin disease and who cannot afford the regular offerings for their cleansing.

Why?

The same way to do as the previous one did, the only difference is for the poor and who cannot afford, they can take one male lamb as a guilt offering. 

Put oil on the right ear, right thumb, and right toe means has good hearing, good working and good walking on the world. And pour oil on the head means has a good mind and idea leading by the Spirit.

3隻羊的價格高,因此神特別為窮人預備。只要準備1隻羊,其他為鳥。重點在贖愆祭。血與油抹在耳、手、腳,油也要澆在頭。因為隔離後,虧欠人。窮人條款的贖愆祭無論富人、窮人,虧欠神和人要付出的都一樣。重新再寫一遍,沒有說像前面一樣。窮不能說不愛主,窮人愛主的心不可打折,虧欠人。窮人不可喪志。沒有時間,不來聚會,沒有錢不奉獻,才幹不夠就是不做了,這些都不可以。不可因人的社會、經濟地位不同而虧損對主的心。

The regulations for any diseased person at the time of their ceremonial cleansing

 Leviticus 14:1-20

These are the regulations for any diseased person at the time of their ceremonial cleansing when they are brought to the priest: The priest is to go outside the camp and examine them if they are clean, the priest shall order that two live clean birds and some cedar wood, scarlet yarn and hyssop be brought for the person to be cleansed. Then the priest shall order that one of the birds be killed over fresh water in a clay pot. He is then to take the live bird and dip it, together with the cedar wood, the scarlet yarn and the hyssop, into the blood of the bird that was killed over the fresh water. Seven times he shall sprinkle the one to be cleansed of the defiling disease, and then pronounce them clean. After that, he is to release the live bird in the open fields.

After this they may come into the camp, but they must stay outside their tent for seven daysOn the seventh day they must shave off all their hair; they must shave their head, their beard, their eyebrows and the rest of their hair. They must wash their clothes and bathe themselves with water, and they will be clean. On the eighth day they must bring two male lambs and one ewe lamb a year old, each without defect, along with three-tenths of an ephah of the finest flour mixed with olive oil for a grain offering, and one log of oil.

He is to slaughter the lamb in the sanctuary area where the sin offering and the burnt offering are slaughtered. Like the sin offering, the guilt offering belongs to the priest; it is most holy.

Then the priest is to sacrifice the sin offering and make atonement for the one to be cleansed from their uncleanness. After that, the priest shall slaughter the burnt offering and offer it on the altar, together with the grain offering, and make atonement for them, and they will be clean.

If, however, they are poor and cannot afford these, they must take one male lamb as a guilt offering to be waved to make atonement for them, together with a tenth of an ephah of the finest flour mixed with olive oil for a grain offering, a log of oil, and two doves or two young pigeons, such as they can afford, one for a sin offering and the other for a burnt offering.

Why?

ceremonial cleansing: it's a regulation that means a man has to do something and pay some penalty for his sins and missed behavior. 

Even unclean is a sin before the Lord. So we're searching to live a holy daily life. 

Right ear, right thumb of hand and foot symbols the whole body of ours.

14節血抹在耳、手、腳,所聽,所做、所行都蒙主潔淨。油抹在這人身上,表示所聽、所做、所行都有聖靈的膏抹,恩膏。剩下的油倒在頭上,表示人所想的,所慾的都蒙神的帶領。

Regulations About Defiling Molds

 Leviticus 13: 29-59

If a man or woman has a sore on their head or chin, the priest is to examine the sore, and if it appears to be more than skin deep and the hair in it is yellow and thin, the priest shall pronounce them unclean; it is a defiling skin disease on the head or chin. 頭疥,強烈感染性黴菌

When a man or woman has white spots on the skin, the priest is to examine them, and if the spots are dull white, it is a harmless rash that has broken out on the skin; they are clean. 白火斑。不感染力的霉菌

A man who has lost his hair and is bald is clean. If he has lost his hair from the front of his scalp and has a bald forehead, he is clean. But if he has a reddish-white sore on his bald head or forehead, it is a defiling disease breaking out on his head or forehead. 大痲瘋發在他頭禿處

As for any fabric that is spoiled with a defiling mold—any woolen or linen clothing, any woven or knitted material of linen or wool, any leather or anything made of leather— if the affected area in the fabric, the leather, the woven or knitted material, or any leather article, is greenish or reddish, it is a defiling mold and must be shown to the priest. The priest is to examine the affected area and isolate the article for seven daysOn the seventh day he is to examine it, and if the mold has spread in the fabric, the woven or knitted material, or the leather, whatever its use, it is a persistent defiling mold; the article is unclean. because the defiling mold is persistent, the article must be burned. 黴菌才會在衣服上

Any fabric, woven or knitted material, or any leather article that has been washed and is rid of the mold, must be washed again. Then it will be clean.14天

As far as clothing and buildings are concerned, the 'disease' is mildew or fungus. (黴菌或真菌)

Why?

All of these are unclean for mildew or fungus caused, some have the capability to spread so who has to be isolated.

All of the defiling molds have to check by the priest for 14 days, if it is existing all have to burn out, if it does not spread, washed twice are clean.

God is caring for the health of his people so make this regulation to protect them, even Israelite did not know what was going on.

How?

All of God's people have to keep clean and sacrifice for God is Holy. So we have to separate from this world.

The raw flesh is unclean; they have a defiling disease.

 Leviticus 13:1-28

It is a defiling skin disease. When the priest examines that person, he shall pronounce them ceremonially unclean.  大痲瘋,發炎性皮膚炎不會傳染

It is a chronic skin disease and the priest shall pronounce them unclean. He is not to isolate them, because they are already unclean. 舊大痲瘋

When the priest sees the raw flesh, he shall pronounce them unclean. The raw flesh is unclean; they have a defiling disease. 紅肉本是不潔淨,是大痲瘋

The priest is to examine it, and if it appears to be more than skin deep and the hair in it has turned white, the priest shall pronounce that person unclean. It is a defiling skin disease that has broken out where the boil was. 霉菌, 創傷

On the seventh day, the priest is to examine that person, and if it is spreading in the skin, the priest shall pronounce them unclean; it is a defiling skin disease. 是災病

Why?

To protect the population of Israelite and keep the whole people healthy for living and God's people is holy, everyone should be clean before the Lord.

This is the great instruction to preventive medicine relating to these diseases in the ancient Near East.

Childbirth regulation of purification

 Leviticus 12;1-8

The Lord said to Moses, “Say to the Israelites: ‘A woman who becomes pregnant and gives birth to a son will be ceremonially unclean for seven days, just as she is unclean during her monthly period.  On the eighth day the boy is to be circumcised. Then the woman must wait thirty-three days to be purified from her bleeding. She must not touch anything sacred or go to the sanctuary until the days of her purification are over. If she gives birth to a daughter, for two weeks the woman will be unclean, as during her period. Then she must wait sixty-six days to be purified from her bleeding.

When the days of her purification for a son or daughter are over, she is to bring to the priest at the entrance to the tent of meeting a year-old lamb for a burnt offering and a young pigeon or a dove for a sin offering.

But if she cannot afford a lamb, she is to bring two doves or two young pigeons, one for a burnt offering and the other for a sin offering. In this way, the priest will make atonement for her, and she will be clean.

In Canaan, prostitution and fertility rites were all mixed up with worship. In Israel, by sharp contrast, anything suggesting the sexual or sensual is strictly banned from the worship of God - as this chapter and chapter 15 make plain. The intention is not to write off this side of life as 'dirty', as is plain elsewhere in Scripture/ The purpose is to ensure its separation from the worship of God. The rule of strict cleanliness in all sexual matters was also a positive safeguard to health.

The difference in time for a son and a daughter is probably due to the belief that there was a longer discharge of blood after a daughter. The children themselves are not unclean.

Why?

There is a different responsibility to man and woman so boy and daughter have different purification period.

Bleeding is unclean and it is unhealthy for women to go out for work or worship. They should stay at home for recovery from birth bleeding.

另外一個解釋是重男輕女,在當時時代,婦女生男孩,地位提昇,如果生女孩,主婦地位不好,親人質問,加倍的時間,讓婦女有較多時間休息,避開他人的眼光。要隔離似乎不公平的待遇,婦女在得不到家人的關愛下,可以有較長時間休息。在過去婦女很難有機會較長時間休息。這個限制,是限制婦女的公公、婆婆、丈夫的不公平對待。神的法則,看似公義,不公平,其實其中有神的慈愛在當中。

I am the Lord your God; consecrate yourselves and be holy, because I am holy.

 Leviticus 11:24-47

You will make yourselves unclean by these; whoever touches their carcasses will be unclean till evening. Whoever picks up one of their carcasses must wash their clothes, and they will be unclean till evening.

Of all those that move along the ground, these are unclean for you. Whoever touches them when they are dead will be unclean till evening.

Anyone who eats some of its carcass must wash their clothes, and they will be unclean till evening. Anyone who picks up the carcass must wash their clothes, and they will be unclean till evening.

Every creature that moves along the ground is to be regarded as unclean; it is not to be eaten. 

Do not defile yourselves by any of these creatures. Do not make yourselves unclean by means of them or be made unclean by them. I am the Lord your God; consecrate yourselves and be holy, because I am holy. Do not make yourselves unclean by any creature that moves along the ground. I am the Lord, who brought you up out of Egypt to be your God; therefore be holy, because I am holy.

Set out measures to prevent contamination of good and water supplies. Similar principles govern present-day public health regulations.

Why?

Because God is holy so all of God's people have to consecrate ourselves to serve the Lord.

Distinguish what is clean and unclean to eat, for we have to live a holy life in the world, make some different life on the world to witness we are the people of the Lord.

Not only for religious regulation but also for health that God's word is useful in our daily life.

Any carcass or animal move along the ground is dirty and has viruses and will harm our health.

24-31 不能吃,不能摸;   鼠類、爬蟲類。分別為聖,要非常小心,連碰觸都不能,就是要遠離使人不潔淨,使人犯罪的地方,東西。

32-38 碰到的器皿:放入水中清洗,瓦器無法洗淨,就要打破。世俗的東西,寧可不用也不要得罪神,什麼才是真正的浪費?

39-43 種子落在死屍上就不潔淨。我們的信仰不僅在教會中,生活中每個細節都與神有關。神與我們的關係深入到生活中,不只是在宗教中。多足的,爬的,都是不可以吃的。如蛇,用肚子行走。嚴格說不是衛生問題,耶穌說從口入的不會污穢人。真正的問題是人心的問題,人心出來的才會污穢人。

聖潔就是分別的,因為神是分別的,所以你們要分別。

These are the birds you are to regard as unclean and not eat...the hoopoe and the bat

 Leviticus  11:1-23

The Lord said to Moses and Aaron,  “Say to the Israelites: ‘Of all the animals that live on land, these are the ones you may eat: You may eat any animal that has a divided hoof and that chews the cud.

The camel, hyrax, rabbit, and pig are unclean for you. You must not eat their meat or touch their carcasses; they are unclean for you.

Of all the creatures living in the water of the seas and the streams you may eat any that have fins and scales.

These are the birds you are to regard as unclean and not eat because they are unclean: the eagle,[a] the vulture, the black vulture, the red kite, any kind of black kite, any kind of raven, the horned owl, the screech owl, the gull, any kind of hawk, the little owl, the cormorant, the great owl, the white owl, the desert owl, the osprey, the stork, any kind of heron, the hoopoe and the bat.

All flying insects that walk on all fours are to be regarded as unclean by you.

Of these, you may eat any kind of locust, katydid, cricket or grasshopper. But all other flying insects that have four legs you are to regard as unclean.

The rules for the nation's diet are clearly framed: borderline cases are excluded. Israel may eat: 

1)Animal which chews the cud and has cloven hoofs.

2)Sea creature with both fins and scales.

3)Birds not listed as forbidden.

4)Insects belonging to four classes of the locust family.

Amongst those banned are: Port, Vermin and predatory birds, Vermin and predatory birds, Shellfish(these are still a common cause of food-poisoning and enteritis.)

Why?

All of the unclean animals or birds or fish or insects may cause sickness to human beings.

Such as the bar is forbidden, but human beings still eat it and caused COVID-19 to spread the whole world and make a few million people dead.

These unclean animals or insects eat unclean food and carry viruses or other bacterial.

All these unclean animals or insects are necessary to keep this world clean and safe. Garbage needs these to clean.

食物是生活中最明顯的。先從健康、衛生的理由來解釋。

可食:分蹄、倒嚼的動物:分蹄,抓地力強,可以在不同地面都可以行走,意表,可以走不同的人生路,腿比較弱,速度慢,肌肉不堅硬,容易煮熟。馬沒有分蹄,所以跑的快!意表屬天的路沒有速成的,必須一步步的走。每天一點一滴的經歷神。

反芻的動物吃的慢,消化完全。吃的快的動物,消化不好,甚至自己的糞便也吃,如豬。屬靈上,不能什麼都吸收,吃的快,消化不完全,聽神的話,許多話無法好好思想沒有吸收。

魚類或是水生動物:麟,與水隔離,其他的直接由皮膚吸收,沒有經過腸胃吸收。有翅有麟的。

吃腐敗、變質食物,不符合屬靈的含意。我們不能吸收變質的東西。

有翅要飛翔,是屬天的,有翼卻在地上,像是我們屬天卻只想在地上。用跳的,離地較遠。明明是屬天的,為什麼還願意留在地方,屬地。信主就沒有意義了。

分別為聖,就必須放棄自己的喜好,即使親人過世,有些事我們也必須放棄。
