Do not be afraid of them; the Lord your God himself will fight for you

Deuteronomy 3:12-29

Of the land that we took over at that time, I gave the Reubenites and the Gadites the territory north of Aroer by the Arnon Gorge, including half the hill country of Gilead, together with its towns. The rest of Gilead and also all of Bashan, the kingdom of Og, I gave to the half-tribe of Manasseh. (The whole region of Argob in Bashan used to be known as a land of the Rephaites. Jair, a descendant of Manasseh, took the whole region of Argob as far as the border of the Geshurites and the Maakathites; it was named after him, so that to this day Bashan is called Havvoth Jair.

I commanded you at that time: “The Lord your God has given you this land to take possession of it. But all your able-bodied men, armed for battle, must cross over ahead of the other Israelites.

At that time I commanded Joshua: “You have seen with your own eyes all that the Lord your God has done to these two kings. The Lord will do the same to all the kingdoms over there where you are going. Do not be afraid of them; the Lord your God himself will fight for you.

At that time I pleaded with the Lord: Let me go over and see the good land beyond the Jordan—that fine hill country and Lebanon.”. But because of you the Lord was angry with me and would not listen to me. “That is enough,” the Lord said. “Do not speak to me anymore about this matter".

A new leader: Moses' punishment. The price of disobedience was a heavy one. Moses longed above all to lead his people into the promised land. 'Because of you' is not merely an attempt to shift the blame. It was the people's provocation that stung him to anger.

Why?

Two and half-tribe of Israelites got the lands in east Jordan. But their able-bodied men, armed for battle must cross over ahead of the other Israelites. For they are a family, they have to fight for their brothers, the country of Israel.

Mose asked the Lord may go with Israelite enter the promised land, but the Lord refused. For disobedience is a heavy sin. Even Moses was angry with his people's repellence, but God's word could not be changed or modified. God asked us to obey his word completely.

你們所有的勇士都要帶著兵器，在你們的弟兄以色列人前面過去:代表以色列人的合一，不是走在後面。前面比較危險，雖然他們已經分得土地。互為肢體！同樣教會也都是肢體，各個堂會也是互為肢體。

神使用我們不是因為我是有如何的能力，而是神在工作，只是我們願意配合神的工作。

服事主不是為了享受服事的成果，而是單單完成神的托付。摩西花了40年遭受同胞的攻擊，姊姊攻擊他，好不容易會看到成果了，卻無法進入迦南起享受成果，只能遠眺。我們最終是向神負責。不是服事我們的成就感，掌聲，或是否被肯定?
