John 19:1-16

Then Pilate took Jesus and had him flogged. The soldiers twisted together a crown of thorns and put it on his head. They clothed him in a purple robe and went up to him again and again, saying, “Hail, king of the Jews!” And they slapped him in the face.

Once more Pilate came out and said to the Jews gathered there, “Look, I am bringing him out to you to let you know that I find no basis for a charge against him.” When Jesus came out wearing the crown of thorns and the purple robe, Pilate said to them, “Here is the man!”

Jesus answered, “You would have no power over me if it were not given to you from above. Therefore the one who handed me over to you is guilty of a greater sin.”

When Pilate heard this, he brought Jesus out and sat down on the judge’s seat at a place known as the Stone Pavement (which in Aramaic is Gabbatha). It was the day of Preparation of the Passover; it was about noon. 

“Here is your king,” Pilate said to the Jews.

But they shouted, “Take him away! Take him away! Crucify him!”

Finally, Pilate handed him over to them to be crucified.

The incontrovertible evidence of Jesus' death.

Why?

Pilate knew Jesus is innocent, there is no evidence to prove Jesus has against the Law, but Pilate in order to meet the requirement of the Jews and keep his position in Roman, so he let Jesus be crucified.

Jesus chose his own way, it is not under anyone's pressure but Jesus devoted his life to all who believe in Him.

第一回合：用污辱耶穌方式取悅猶太人希望快速結束此事。

這是不認識神的人常做的事，兵丁也是不懂基督徒的人。搞不清楚的人，開教會、基督徒玩笑

第二回合v4-7用法律證據來回應猶太人，想要釋放耶穌，但是猶太人又回到律法問題。

第三回合：彼拉多耶穌自稱是神的兒子，開始懼怕，

第四回合：彼拉多壓不過猶太人，

彼拉多要耶穌為自己申辯，彼拉多認為自己有權柄，耶穌應該求他。我們的權柄來自神！

彼拉多：羅馬人依法行事，卻找不出證據。想行公義，卻又怕丟了官位，表面上怕猶太人，其實屈服於自己人的官位。所以定耶穌的罪。怕不忠。怕沒有好好管理所在地，只有犧牲公義、真理。

猶太人：用多數人來犧牲信仰，表面上維護信仰，其實在維護自己的私心。
