The Lord has done what he announced through his servant Elijah

2 Kings 10:1-14

Now there were in Samaria seventy sons of the house of Ahab. So Jehu wrote letters and sent them to Samaria: to the officials of Jezreel, to the elders and to the guardians of Ahab’s children. He said, “You have your master’s sons with you and you have chariots and horses, a fortified city and weapons. Now as soon as this letter reaches you, choose the best and most worthy of your master’s sons and set him on his father’s throne. Then fight for your master’s house.”

But they were terrified and said, “If two kings could not resist him, how can we?”

Then Jehu wrote them a second letter, saying, “If you are on my side and will obey me, take the heads of your master’s sons and come to me in Jezreel by this time tomorrow.” 

The next morning Jehu went out. He stood before all the people and said, “You are innocent. It was I who conspired against my master and killed him, but who killed all these? Know, then, that not a word the Lord has spoken against the house of Ahab will fail. The Lord has done what he announced through his servant Elijah.” So Jehu killed everyone in Jezreel who remained of the house of Ahab, as well as all his chief men, his close friends and his priests, leaving him no survivor.

They said, “We are relatives of Ahaziah, and we have come down to greet the families of the king and of the queen mother.” “Take them alive!” he ordered. So they took them alive and slaughtered them by the well of Beth Eked—forty-two of them. He left no survivor.

Jehu's reign opens with a bloodbath in which all of Ahab's family, many of the royal house of Judah, and the prophets, priest, and worshippers of Baal lose their lives.

Why?

Jehu is a smart man, he sent two letters to the masters of the house of Ahab's son. so seventy sons of Ahab were dead and Jehu kill their family either. So the word of the Lord through prophet Elijah comes truth.

Righteousness belongs to the Lord, so the love belongs to the Lord either. God has given many times to Ahab's return to the Lord, but he refused these reminders. So everyone has to bear his own responsibility to their behavior.

Be aware in this generation for God is the master in this world, and the end of the world is closer.

亞哈眾子，亞哈的大臣、密友、祭司、連南國來探望的人一起殺。神的吩咐只有殺亞哈全家，卻沒有要殺其他人。只為了除盡亞哈的相關人員有益於他的王位穩固。執行神的命令對他有利！如果執行神的命令對他不利，是否會認真執行嗎？耶戶仍然無法放棄兩個金牛犢，因為怕百姓回歸南國，不要打著神的旨意，熱心執行自己本來就是想要做，搭順風達成自己的私意?
