This is what the Lord says: I anoint you king over Israel

 2 Kings 9:1-16

The prophet Elisha summoned a man from the company of the prophets and said to him, “Tuck your cloak into your belt, take this flask of olive oil with you and go to Ramoth Gilead.

So the young prophet went to Ramoth Gilead. When he arrived, he found the army officers sitting together. “I have a message for you, commander,” he said.

Jehu got up and went into the house. Then the prophet poured the oil on Jehu’s head and declared, “This is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: ‘I anoint you king over the Lord’s people Israel.You are to destroy the house of Ahab your master, and I will avenge the blood of my servants the prophets and the blood of all the Lord’s servants shed by Jezebel. The whole house of Ahab will perish. I will cut off from Ahab every last male in Israel—slave or free. I will make the house of Ahab like the house of Jeroboam son of Nebat and like the house of Baasha son of Ahijah. As for Jezebel, dogs will devour her on the plot of ground at Jezreel, and no one will bury her.’” Then he opened the door and ran.

Jehu said, “Here is what he told me: ‘This is what the Lord says: I anoint you king over Israel.’” They quickly took their cloaks and spread them under him on the bare steps. Then they blew the trumpet and shouted, “Jehu is king!”

Jehu said, “If you desire to make me king, don’t let anyone slip out of the city to go and tell the news in Jezreel.” Then he got into his chariot and rode to Jezreel, because Joram was resting there and Ahaziah king of Judah had gone down to see him.

Elisha carries out the last of Elijah's commissions while the armies of Israel and Judah are defending Ramoth-Gilead against Syria. When the king conveniently recovering from his sound at Jezreel, 65 km away, the time is ripe for Jehu's coup.

Why?

Elisha let his one prophet go to Israel troops and told the commander Jehu, This is what the Lord says: I anoint you king over Isreal. Then run away.

If he did not run away, there will have some unknown trouble come upon him, and maybe will be killed.

When Jeju said the word of the Lord says, every one of them took their cloaks and spread them under him on the bare steps and shouted, 'Jehu is king!" Maybe they were desire Jehu to be their leader for a while. Or the Lord has turned their hearts to make Jehu their king.

The Lord arranges a plan to revenge the blood of the Lord's servant shed by Ahab and Jezebel. The righteousness will be done by the Lord in his time and in his way.

本來神要以利亞去膏耶戶做以色列的王，但是步以利亞當時靈性低落沒有完成此事，所以神差遣以利沙去膏抹。耶戶是北國唯一被神膏抹的王。亞哈到約蘭30多年，神的終於要執行他的公義。亞哈透過耶洗別33年引進偶像崇拜，這些預言都已經實現。聖經末世的預言，這幾年瘟疫橫行，可知瘟疫不會停止！願在主的保守中，我們在神的旨意、計劃中有份，讓神成為我們的平安。
