Mark 15:1-20
The chief
priest, with the elders, the teachers of the law and the whole Sanhedrin, reached a decision. They bound Jesus,
led him away and handed him over to Pilate.
“Are you the
king of the Jews? Asked Pilate.
“Yes, it is as you say,” Jesus replied. Other questions Jesus made not reply,
and Pilate was amazed.
Pilate
knowing it was out of envy that the
chief priests had handed Jesus over to him.
The chief
priests stirred up the crowd to have
Pilate release Barabbas instead.
“What shall I do, then, with the one you
call the king of the Jews?” Pilate asked them. “Crucify him!” They shouted. “What
crime has he committed?” asked Pilate. But
they shouted all the louder, “Crucify
him!”
Wanting to satisfy the crowd, Pilate released Barabbas to them.
He had Jesus flogged, and handed him
over to be crucified.
The soldiers, they began to call out to him, “Hail, king of the Jews!”
Why?
Jesus is the
king of Jews and is the king of kings. Those people did not know him.
The high
priests envy Jesus to be king of Jews, it affects their position and honor, so
they hate Jesus, for they did evil and they are living in the dark.
Crowd always
innocent but easy to be stirred up shout or make violent under high emotion.
Is the Jews,
they asked Pilate crucify Jesus. They
asked Pilate release Barabbas, the one committed murder, instead of Jesus.
Pilate was
wanting to satisfy the crowd, for they shout they have no king but Caesar. Actually
Israelite hate Rome’s king, but in this moment they asked put Jesus to dead.
How?
Emotion
decision is not good, always made wrong decision.
Jesus’s dead
is for erase all of our sins. How precious a righteous man shed blood for us.
