Mark 7:1-23
These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. They worship me in vain; their teachings are but rules taught by men.
Corban, the tradition, let man do not longer do anything for his father or mother. Thus you nullify the word of God by your tradition that you have handed down.
Nothing that enters a man from the outside can make him 'unclean'. For it doesn't go into his heart but into his stomach, and then out of his body.
What comes out of a man is what makes him 'unclean'. Evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, greed, malice, deceit, lewdness, envy, slander, arrogance and folly.
Why?
The washing rituals had to do with religious 'cleanness', not simply hygiene or table manners. But it is possible for the observance of tradition to empty God's plain command of all meaning.
Jesus points out that humanity's real problem is not dirty hands but the deep-down pollution of mind, which no amount of washing can clean. The concept is so radical (the idea of clean and unclean foods is so much part of Jewish thinking) that even the disciples need further explanation.
Some traditions are good, but have to know does it taught by the God, don't because of the tradition violent the words of God, honor the name of God is more important than any tradition.
How?
Worship the Lord with our heart, the rituals are good but it could not replace the purpose to honor the name of Lord and obey His commands. Clean and unclean is depends on our heart, Holy and non-Holy is rely on the spirit of the Lord.
