Anguish and Comforted life

Luke 16:19-31
The rich man and Lazarus had different life manner in the world, but when they died, there is opposite living manner between them.
Anguish in Hades and comforted in Abraham's side.
If they do not hear Moses and the Prophets, neither will they be convinced if someone should rise from the dead.
This story is the only 'named' character in Jesus' story. Jesus may have taken a popular folk tale, using it in his own way.
The scenes are vividly pictured: a rich man with everything, a poor man with nothing. Yet Lazarus goes to bliss, his head resting against the greatest father Abraham at the heavenly feast. Justice has been done and there is no changing it
Why?
Those words are bound to make Luke's readers think of Jesus' own resurrection.
Hedes陰間is different with gehenna地獄. Hades is unbeliever dead and waiting for the great white Throne Judgement. Soul in Hades has feeling, memory and sensitivity. After the the great white Throne Judgement, evildoers and unbelievers will be in the lake of fire; Gehenna.
Jesus is the one who rose from the dead. He who has ears to hear, let him hear.
How?
Don't desire has the living style of rich man, live under the blessing of the Lord is the best one in my life. Comforted and peace life in the world and in heaven is my desire.

HS: Manager of God: Faithful and shrewd

Luke 16:1-18
Shrewdness: 精明astute or sharp in practical matters: a shrewd politician.
The sons of this world are more shrewd in dealing with their own generation than the sons of light.
If you have not been faithful in that which is another's, who will give you that which is your own.
No servant can serve two masters. You cannot serve God and money.
What is exalted among men is an abomination in the sight of God.
The good news of the kingdom of God is preached, and everyone is forcefully urged into it.
Why?
All we have in this world are belong to the mater- the Lord, we are the manager of God. One day we will leave here, so we have to make our own secure in the future.
Jesus tells his disciples commends the manager's astuteness, not his dishonesty.

Sons of light should be astute to get the security and prize in heaven.
He knows how to make money work for him. So his future is secured.
Money is another's, not eternal matter. If we cannot faithful in these jobs, how can God trust us to do more important task and give us more treasure in heaven.
How?
Don't be a foolish Christian, skilled to do everything in this world, earn more security in heaven.

Lost and found a new life

Luke 15:11-32
The parable of the prodigal son.
Prodigal son: he squandered his property in reckless living, and severe famine arose there.
The son said to his father 'I have sinned against heaven and before you, I am no longer worthy to be called your son.'
Father said to his older son,'Son, you are always with me, and all that is mine is yours. It was fitting to celebrate and be glad, for your brother was dead, and is alive; he was lost, and is found.'
Why?
Lost is through reckless living, don't know the truth. Foolish plus bad environment may lead one be poor.
All of us are the lost son to our God, we are sinner against heaven. When we repent and turn back to heavenly father. He always accept us.
To be a Christan for longer time, don't be frustrate to someone living in reckless living. My property is in heaven.
Robe means the position, ring means power, shoes means acknowledge the identity of son. Slave is barefoot.
Little son may take 1/3 of father's property, older son may take 2/3 of the property.
How?
Repent is very important to everyone, our heavenly father always joyful to accept our repentance.

Joice for one sinner who repents

Luke 15:1-10
Jesus was criticized he receives sinners and eats with them.
There will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who need no repentance.
Jesus said two parables of lost one sheep and lost a silver coin.
Why?
One silver coin is about one day's wage a man.
People like to judge other as their stand law, but they don't check for themselves first.
Why we won't look other with the love and good opportunity. We need to see in wisdom but with more love. We should identify the right and wrong, but love everyone.
How?
Be humble and love others even they looks no beauty or no clean. The Lord looks as is the same situation.

No one can follow Him unless they are prepared for all that this means

Luke 14:15-35
The banquet of kingdom of God is ready, the king sent many servants to invite guests. But they all alike to make excuses. Such as
1. Bought a field, he have to go out and see it.
2. Bought five yoke of oxen, go to examine them.
3. Have married a wife ; all are take care their own business, prosession, etc.
It is blessing that the people beside highway and hedges may invited to this banquet. Those who rejected the invitation shall taste God's banquet. The mercy of the Lord is worldwide, if you accept it, then the blessing is come.
Whoever does not bear his own cross and come after Jesus cannot be Jesus' disciple. Before to be a disciple of Jesus have to know the cost has to pay, like to prepare a war to a kingdom, or like desiring to build a tower have to count the cost.
To be a Christian should be like Salt which is good, but if lost its taste, how shall its saltiness be restored. It is thrown away.
He who has ears to heat, let him hear.
Why?
Those who rate other things more important will exclude themselves, with no second chance.
Great crowds are following Jesus, unaware of what it will mean outweigh all other, quite proper, claims.
He is not saying hate your family! but 'love me more'.
No one can follow him unless they are prepared for all that this means. They need to reckon up. Can they afford than to follow? (The price is no less than everything they have. On the other hand, can they afford to refuse.
How?
Bear the cross of our own to follow Jesus. The price is I can afford.

Humbles himself will be exalted.

Luke 14:1-14
Everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.
Give dinner or banquet to the needed persons, such as the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind, and you will be blessed, because they cannot repay you.
Why?
Banquet is make for the kingdom of God.
Jesus questions, 'Is it lawful?' and 'Wouldn't you...?' leave his critics speechless.
Guests were carefully seated according to rank and status , but everyone wants a seat at the top table. Jesus commends a genuinely humble spirit, not false modesty.
Real generosity does not look for return.
In order to eat bread in God's kingdom it is necessary only to say yes when the invitation comes.
How?
Is it lawful? Wouldn't you...? Yes, when I query other, let query us first.

Strive to seek the entrance to kingdom of God

Luke 13:22-35
Strive to enter through the narrow door. For many, will seek to enter and will not be able.
Be hold, some are last who will be first, and some are first who will be last.
Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.
Jesus laments to people of Jerusalem rejected gospel.
Jesus said to some Pharisees what will happen in next three days. Jesus must go on his way to Jerusalem. He knows he will perish there.
Jesus does not answer the question directly.'Don't ask how many'.  Just make sure you seek entrance to God's kingdom. Many will try, yet fail.
There will be surprises. Time is limited.
Jesus is not bothered by Herod's threats. He knows what lies ahead, and grieves at the fate of the city that will destroy him.
Why?
Today, tomorrow and the day following means very short time in Jews. Jesus has short time in the world, but he have to complete his works.
Don't ask how many people will repent and enter the kingdom of God, do our best to seek entrance to God's kingdom.
Someone heard the good news but they do not follow and believes in Jesus so they fell and could not enter the kingdom of God.
How?
Do my best to seek the entrance to kingdom of God.

Why should it use up the soil

Luke 13:1-21
But unless you repent, you too will all perish.  - don't think others are worse sinners than you.
A man planted in his vineyard and fig tree, if he hasn't found any fruits on it, Why should it use up the soil.  So as Christian can not has fruits, will be cut down.
Follow the laws is good, but essential is the love, so set free on the Sabbath day from what bound her is good thing. It is higher than the laws. God's law is made good to us.
Hypocrites! treat animal even better than a man.
The kingdom of God like the mustard seed and the yeast. It is small, but it will grow up huge when under right condition.
Why?
Roman troops had slaughtered some Galilean pilgrims in the Temple at Passover. People assumed that the victims of the two disasters must have been specially wicked, but that was not true. The whole nations is ripe for judgment and will meet an equally horrible fate if present opportunities for a change of heart are let slip.
Only Luke records the story of a woman who would be diagnosed by doctors today as suffering from a particularly crippling form of arthritis關節炎.
The gospel will preaching to whole of the world. So the kingdom of God will be here. It is not the work of man but it is God, man needs to prepare the works for gospel.
There is no one righteousness in this world. Everyone should repent and turn to Jesus.
How?
I have to prepare the work for kingdom of God, it is the Lord made mustard seed growing up, let the yeast bigger. If I do nothing why I received so much grace from the Lord?

Be ready, be a faithful and wise manager of God

Luke 12:33-59
Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
You must be ready, because the son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him.
Who then is the faithful and wise manager, whom the master puts in charge of his servants to give them their good allowance at the proper time.
This is the parable to us - follower of Jesus.
From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked.
Jesus come to bring fire on the earth, bring not peace but division. For many people against toward Jesus.
How is it that you don't know how to interpret this present time? Why don't you judge for yourselves what is right? You will not get out until you have paid the last penny.
Why?
The servant of God should know what is present time. It is the time work for the kingdom of God instead of our own possession. It is time to preach gospel and do the right things.
Am I a good servant in the world? faithful and wise manager? Don't waste time and resources!
Be ready for action: for freedom of movement at work the long tunic長袍、中山裝as drawn up through a belt.
The good news of the gospel will run through the earth like fire. But first Jesus must plumb depths of suffering.
How?
Am I ready to action?  Where is my treasure? May the Holy Spirit help me get ready to preaching the good news of gospel.

Be on your guard agaist the yeast of the Pharisees and greed

Luke 12:1-32
Be on your guard against the yeast of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy.
There is nothing concealed that will not be disclosed, or hidden that will not be made known.
Fear him who, after the killing of the body, has power to throw you into hell. Yet not one of them is forgotten by God. Don't be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows. -- If you are doing right don't be afraid.
Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; a man's life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions.
The parable of a rich man wants to build bigger barns for his good crop. Don't be a fool! Life is in hands of God!
Do not worry about your life. Life is more than food, and the body more than clothes. How much more value your are than birds! Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life.
Seek God's kingdom, and these things will be given to you as will. Your Father has been pleased to give you the kingdom.
Why?
A warning to the disciples about the danger of saying one thing and doing another leads into general teaching about the coming judgement, and how it should affect life here and now.
It is essential to be prepared, to get priorities right.
Right 'fear' of God that holds people steady against other fears.
Only Luke records the story of the rich but foolish man bent on amassing money and all that it can buy, instead of being 'rich towards God'
What you have said in dark room or inner room will be proclaimed.
How?
Knowing the authority of God, don't worry about anything. Don't fear to do right thing - seek kingdom of God. Don't worry about my life. Be aware of the hypocrisy and greed!

Justice and the love of God should have practiced

Luke 11:37-54
Justice and the love of God should have practiced. More important than follow the Laws.
Give what is inside (what you have) to the poor and everything will be clean. Pharisees clean the outside of the cup and dish, but inside are full of greed and wickedness.
Woe to you, Pharisees, experts in the law!
For you load people down with burdens they can hardly carry, and you yourselves will not lift one finger to help them.
Because you have taken away the key to knowledge. You yourselves have not entered, and you have hindered those who were entering.
Jesus said, this generation will be held responsible for it all - the blood of Abel to the blood of Zechariah, who was killed between the altar and the sanctuary.
Why?
The hand-washing was a religious ritual, not a matter of hygiene(衛生). The teacher is expected to keep the rules.
Practice the justice and the love of God in my daily life. Sometimes we are easy to one of it, but not both. Both are needed and should keep balance.
Humble myself, check out inside, do  have greed and wicked or not? Does it correspond to the word of God?
The generation who do not believe in Jesus will be held responsible for their own.
How?
Meditate what my eyes see? Does it full of justice or the love of God? What my knowledge used for?  May the justice and the love of God could be practice in my daily life.

Blessed are those who hear the word of God and keep it

Luke 11:14-36
Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and keep it!
When your eye is healthy, your whole body is full of light, but when it is bad, your body is full of darkness.
Jesus casting out demon by the finger of God, the kingdom of God has come upon you.
Whoever is not with me is against me, and whoever does not gather with me scatters.
Jesus is higher than Jonah and Solomon.
Why?
People wondered the words and authority of Jesus for they don't believe in him. People try to find any reason to question Jesus, but Jesus answered then with the truth and wisdom. Those word be our faith today.
Jesus is the light, and the stronger man, overcome the darkness and demons.
How?
Does my eye is healthy? May I see what the Lord let me see. How great is the blessed who hear the word of God and keep it!

Asks receives, seeks finds, knocks it will be opened

Luke 11:1-13
How much more will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!
The Lord's PrayerFather, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come. Give us each day our daily bread. Forgive us our sins, for we also forgive everyone who sins against us. And lead us not into temptation.
Everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened.
Why?
God loves us like his children, when we ask him, pray to Him, God will answer us if it is good to us.
God's prayer 1) the name of God, 2)the Kingdom of God, 3)our needed, 4)our sins and temptation. It is the priority sequence of our prayer.
I need the Holy Spirit so I can ask the Lord to give me the Holy Spirit.
How?
Dear Heavenly father if you can please give me you Holy Spirit, let me experience the Holy Spirit.

Who is my neighbor?

Luke 10:25-42
What shall I do to inherit eternal life? Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind, and your neighbor as yourself.
Who is my neighbor? The lawyer asked to Jesus. Jesus said the parable of the Good samaritan. The one who showed him mercy is his neighbor.
Martha are anxious and troubled about many things, but one thing is necessary. Mary has chosen the good portion, which will not be taken away from her.
Why?
Love the Lord is more easy than love our neighbor, for we can not see the Lord now, but it is easy to see the needy neighbor.
How?
Show our love to the needy person whereever I met.

The kingdom of God has come near

Luke 10:1-24
The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefor, to send out workers into his harvest field.
Do not greet anyone on the road. When you enter a house, first 1)say, 'Peace to this house.' 2) eating and drinking whatever they give you, for the worker deserves his wages. 3)Do not move around from house to house.
Be sure of this: The kingdom of God has come near.
Whoever listens to you listens to me; whoever rejects you rejects me.
However, do not rejoice that the spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.
The prayer of Jesus shows God is the father of Jesus.
Why?
The harvest is plentiful, it is under the word of God. God asks us to be his worker, and work with God.  Preaching gospel is our responsibility in our life.
Jesus told us the strategy of preaching. 1)Say:Peace to this house 2)eating and drink what they give to us 3)Do not move from house to house. Let the people really understand the goodness and mercy from the Lord.
The time is limited hurry up to save more people from sins and dead.
Because we are working with God, it is not our authority but the power of God, so rejoice that our names are written in heaven, but not for the proud of this world.
How?
Deeply preach gospel to a house or a family with love and blessing from the Lord. Do my best to preaching good news for the kingdom of God has come near, there is not much time to waste.

Sacrifices life

Luke 9:44-62
For whoever is not against you is for you. To be a friend to others
Whoever welcomes this little child in my name welcomes me. Kindly treat everyone no matter who he is.
The cost of following Jesus is a sacrifice life.
Let the dead bury their own dead.
No one who puts his hand to the plow and looks back is fit for service in the kingdom of God.
Why?
Jesus did not say don't do your family matter.
Jesus knows what we thinking, we always ask why? God knows.
Sacrifices: Giving something logically you can't afford. But we chose give time to God instead of family.
Following Jesus is not turning back. It is a way of whole life.
The duty of burial tool precedence over the study of the Law, the Tempe service, the killing of the Passover lamb... But the demands of the kingdom were more urgent still.
There is too precious to waste on endless social formalitic.. There is work to be done, a message to be made known. And God himself will judge those who reject it.
Great came for joy be the certainly of eternal life.
How?
Service the Lord, following Jesus is the whole life's service. It is a sacrifice life. What am I facing forward? O Lord, please give me faith to walk forward.

Take up his cross daily and follow me

Luke 9:18-43
Who do you say I am? Peter answered, "The Christ of God." Jesus speaks about his suffering.
Whoever wants to save his life will lost it, but whoever loses his life for me will save it.
If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.
Jesus took Peter, John and James with him and went onto a montain to pray. As her was praying, the appearance of Jesus face changed, and his clothes became as bright as a flash of lightning. Moses and Elijah appeared in glorious splendor, talking with Jesus.
"O unbelieving and perverse generation, how long shall I stay with you and put up with you" Jesus replied. The crowd were all amazed at the greatness of God when Jesus rebuked the evil spirit healed the boy and gae him back to his father.
Why?
We trust our life, we make deision.
How you give your life for God's sake?
Deny ourself is forsake our own all include name, power, mind and profits.
Take his cross daily: do some things that I don't like but for Jesus I do it. It is routine work.
The Lord Jesus often had to bear with unbelief among His own disciples. The story of the healing of an epileptic boy is one example among many. Let’s read this passage. It contains a wonderful lesson on faith and power. Matthew 17:14-21.

Powerless disciples : This story, then, is a story that has to do with power.

The failure of the disciples drew out from Jesus a surprising response. We can sense His frustration and exasperation. He rebuked the audience by calling them a faithless and perverse generation.
Deuteronomy 32. Moses said to them that they were a perverse and unbelieving generation. They saw the works of God, and still did not believe. Therefore God was deeply disappointed with them.
http://www.meetingwithchrist.com/O%20faithless%20and%20perverse%20generation%20-%20Mt%2017(14-21).htm
How?
Bear my cross daily to follow Jesus, it is not easy, but I can do it with the help, love, power of Jesus.

The path to power

the authority to throw out demons or to do any kind of spiritual work is not enough on its own. Faith is necessary. And the failure of the disciples was due to their failure to appropriate God’s power by faith.
But what does faith mean? Faith, in the context of Matthew 17:20, means self-emptiness and self-denial. This is the condition that is required for God’s life-giving energy to operate in us. Expressed in a different way, we can say that the path to power is the path of the cross. This principle of power is very important. The path to power is the path of the cross. If your life is going to have any kind of power, you will have to walk on the path of the cross.

Preach the kingdom of God

Luke 9:1-17
Preach the kingdom of God: Jesus and his disciples went out to do it with the power and authority to drive out all demons and to cure diseases.
Herod heard about all that was going on, and he was perplexed, because some were saying that John had been raised from the dead, other said that Elijah had appeared.
Jesus feeds he five thousand people in remote place. Because he loves them. He cared about their needed. Jesus has the power to make very little food to a lot of food.
The feeding is a miracle and a 'sign' which indicates Jesus' true identity. It may also anticipate the Messiah's banquet-feast with his people.
Why?
Jesus let his disciples go out without anything, for they may live through preach the gospel. It is good to anyone, service people, people should support them.
Herod feared to hear information about Jesus, because he killed John. Jesus did much more than John.
Jesus always preaches the kingdom of God, this is the main purpose of his coming to this world. His miracles are indicate he is came from God.
How?
Feeding and cure diseases are temporary matter and signs of the gospel, the most important is how to enter the kingdom of God.

Jesus loves us. Be strong with faith

Luke 8:26-56
The destination of the demons is bring possessed man to dead.
People in Gerasenes understood how the demon-possessed man had been cured they asked Jesus to leave them, because they were overcome with fear.
Jesus said to the man from who the demons had gone out return home and tell how much God has done for you.
Sick woman came up behind Jesus and touched the edge of his cloak and immediately her bleeding stopped. Jesus said to her, "Daughter, your faith has healed you, Go in peace."
Don't be afraid; just believe and she will be healed, Jesus said to Jairus.
Stop wailing Jesus said, "She is not dead but sleep."
Jesus took her hand and said "My child, get up!", Her spirit returned and, and at once she stood up.
Why?
Port was forbidden food for Jews. But the country east of the lake was largely non-Jewish.
Luke as so often notes the effect of the miracle on those around - "Her parents were astonished, but he ordered them not to tell anyone what had happened."
All believers dead in this world is sleep in eyes of God and to the believers.
Everyone should tell how much God had done for me.
The bleeding woman has enough faith, so her sick be healed.
People in Gerasenes lost the blessing from Jesus, because they were overcome with fear. Fear the Lord and love the Lord is blessing for God loves us.
How?
How much my faith have? Jesus is the Lord, Jesus helps us, save us. Be strong and listen to the Lord carefully.

Testing of faith to listener of gospel

Luke 8:1-25
Only Luke tells us the part the women payed in Jesus' mission.
Jesus said to his disciples,"The knowledge of the secrets of the kingdom of God has been given to you, but to others I speak in parables."
The devil, testing, life's worries, riches and pleasures will affect the faith of listener of gospel.
Parables: though seeing, they may not see; though hearing, they may not understand.
He who has ears to hear, let him hear: preaching good news to everyone who has ears.
Lamp on a stand: Consider carefully how you listen. Whoever has will be given more; whoever does no have, even what he thinks he has will be taken from him. The Lord knows heart of everyone, people will know what you have listen from your behavior.
Why?
Jesus said many parables in Mark to describe the kingdom of God.
Gospel listener need prepare their heart, otherwise, what he has listened will be lost and fell.
Faith needs be tested through testing from evil(our desire), environment challenges(money, position, living. etc). Only rely on the Lord can gain from the faith.
Jesus' message is prepare to those who been chosen by the Lord. But we do not know who were chosen.
What we have listened we will react it in our behavior, so everyone will see it. Nothing is hidden and nothing concealed that will not be know or brought out into the open.
How?
How about my faith to the Lord? does the worries of living choke my heart? Praise the Lord I know that the Lord is with me, no matter where I am. I have experience the help of the Lord many many times in my life.

He who has been forgiven little loves little

Luke 7:31-50
God's wisdom, however, is shown to be true by all who accept it.
People turned to God in response to the preaching of both John and Jesus.
They have many reasons to reject the Jesus when they don't accept the truth.
Jesus knew this woman is a sinner, because she loved Jesus much, so her sin has been forgiven. She turned to Jesus with tear, kiss and put oil on Jesus' head.
He who has been forgiven little loves little.
Simon shows Jesus no special courtesy. But a common prostitute, to whom she has opened up the possibility of forgiveness, pours out her gratitude in lavish love, not caring what anyone thinks.
Jesus reads Simon's thoughts and takes them up in his story. The woman's love does not earn forgiveness, it follows it.
Jesus said to her,"Your sins are forgiven, your faith has saved you; go in peace."
Why?
Jesus came to this world for the sinners, no matter how much sin has, one who loves Jesus and repent to his sin, his sins will be forgiven. This is the mercy of God.
Open up the possibility of forgiveness to Jesus, God will pour out mercy to us.
Jesus is God so he forgives sins.
How?
Keep preaching the gospel to anyone we don't know who accept it. Unbelievers always have many reasons. Our faith to the Lord is more important. He who has been forgiven much loves much.

The Faith of the Centurion to Jesus

Luke 7:1-30
God created all in this world, so He knows what is going on, He has the ability to repair anyone He created.
The Faith of the Centurion is greater than anyone in Israel. He believed the words of Jesus has power to heal his servant.
Jesus has pity on the widow's son in Nain, Jesus let this young man raises from dead. The crowd were filled with awe and praised God.
Jesus brings the story in at this point in relation to the report back to John.
John was questioned about the identity of Jesus. 'Are you the one who was to come?' Jesus said "The blind receive sight, the lame walk, those who have leprosy are cured, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the good news is preached to the poor. Blessed is the man who does not fall away on account of me."
John is more than a prophet. No one greater than John; yet the one who is least in the kingdom of God is greater than he.
Why?
Have faith to God, the prayer is delight to the Lord.
Jesus is the savior, the Messiah. Only the one comes from God has done these 7 missions.
Blessed is the man who does not fall away on account of Jesus. Trust in Jesus is the blessed one. Jesus not only help us, but save us.
How about my faith? Does my faith much more as the Centurion?
How?
Jesus is the Lord who comes to save us from the sins. May the Holy Spirit blesses me have enough faith in Jesus!

What measure you use? Why do you call me, Lord?

Luke 6:37-49
With the measure you use, it will be measured to you. So 1)do not judge, 2)do not condemn, 3)forgive, 4)give.
Each tree is recognized by it own fruit. Good man brings good thing out of the good stored up in his heart. For out of the overflow of his heart his mouth speaks.
Why do you call me,'Lord, Lord,' and do not do what I say?
One who hears Jesus words and puts them into practice like wise builder, who dug down deep and laid the foundation on rock.
Why?
The moment the torrent means the stress or suffering comes, the faith will lost in his heart.
The safe course is to act on Christ's teaching: a house built on rock can stand the storm.
The measure is the standard in our heart to see others. So don't judge and condemn, but do forgive and give to others. All is based with true love.
People's heart and life can be recognized from his mouth speaks and behavior.
Many come to church listen and worship the Lord, but don't do the teaching when they go out of church. Reading the bible for whom? It should be for our self.
How?
Carefully read the bible, listen to the words of the Lord and check myself, then put it into practice.

Be merciful and The law of love

Luke 6:20-38
Jesus said about the four blessings and the four woes in the kingdom of God.
What is the literally poor and hungry and sad and hated on account of the Son of Man.
Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you.
Give to everyone who asks you.
Do to others as you would have them do to you. -- The law of love.
Love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back. Then your reward will be great in heaven.
Be merciful,  just as your Father is merciful.
Why?
The love of God is great to us, so as Jesus follower shall do good as Jesus did for us.
Be merciful, treat the unloved one, even the enemies. Give to others and gain more.
Yes, do to others as I would have others do to me. Sometime very little help from  a stranger is very precious to me for we need help.
How?
Give to the needy person, be merciful to everyone. Thank for the help of my boss when I was in US.

Jesus called 12 disciples

Luke 6:1-19
The Son of Man is lord of the Sabbath. Jesus called himself son of man.
Jesus disciples plucked and ate some heads of grain on a Sabbath.
Jesus withered hand to heal a man.
Jesus does the good instead harm. Jesus follows the law with love and does good things. Laws of God let us do the right thing instead of forbidden to do some good things.
Jesus called his disciples and chose from them twelve.
All the crowd sought to touch him, for power came out from him and healed them all.
Why?
Jesus didn't like John, but eating and drinking with sinners, so Pharisees criticized him. The problem they did not know that Jesus is the Lord.
Luke emphasized that Jesus is the Lord from those stories.
Twelve is the number of God, based on these 12 disciples to preach gospel. So am I shall teach at least 12 people, let them do have faith and vision to preach gospel.
When God calls me, can I hear and response it? I will when I know that the calling of the Lord. Serving God with the power of God, there will be not difficulty to preach gospel.
How?
Humble myself, carefully to listen the calling of the Lord.

No one after drinking old wine desires new

Luke 5:27-39
Jesus called Levi, who was a tax collector,  sitting at the tax booth. Levi followed Jesus.
Jesus replied the Pharisees, " I have not come to call the righteous but sinners to repentance."-- There is no righteous man on earth, only one acknowledges he is sinner will come to repent and turn to Jesus.
The Law in Jews became a habit. So when Jesus came, there were new idea about salvation, they couldn't understand it. So Jesus said, the new and old garment and wine in wineskin. No one after drinking old wine desires new, for he says, 'The old is good.'
Why?
People always won't like to change. Who feels comfortable in his environment.
Jesus brought a new order for salvation, that is conflict with sin and flesh.
Jesus came to call the sinners, those are despised by the Pharisees. Jesus came to save those sinners. Everyone has the same right to get this salvation, don't need any payment or condition, but need the repentance to sin and believe in Jesus.
How?
Am I satisfy in my living style now, am I feel comfortable in my worshiping style now? Be careful, Jesus leads me in new way and method. Do not limit the power of the Lord. God is doing new things.

Praying attitude

Luke 5:12-26
Jesus cleanses a man full of leprosy. He said to Jesus "Lord! if you will, you can make me clean."
Jesus heals a paralytic. This paralytic was carried on a bed, his four friends went up on the roof and let him down with his bed through the ties into the midst before Jesus.
Jesus first said "Man, your sins are forgiven you." next , Jesus said "I say to you, rise, pick up your bed and go home."
Which is easier, 'Your sins are forgiven you,' or to say ,'Raise and walk?'
Jesus has both authority to forgiven sins and healing.
Why?
This leper had right attitude to ask Jesus, so as we shall pray to the Lord, 'If God will, you can make me ...'. The Lord has the authority.
The Paralytic had very good four friends can help him move to Jesus, and he has strong faith and desire to Jesus.
Of cause sins be forgiven is more important than decease be healed, that is relate to the eternal life, and only God has the authority to forgiven sins. So Jesus is the Lord.
Healing is let the sin be expelled temporary. Sick may lead a man to die, healing is drive out the power of dead, expel the visible feature of sin.
How?
Prayer with respect authority of the Lord is the correct attitude.  Enough faith can get the blessing of the Lord.

But at your word I well follow it

Luke 5:1-11
Jesus is working among crowd but keep a little from crowd, because crowd do not know him.
Peter is a professional in fisherman, but he followed the words of Jesus, "But at your word I will let down the nets."
When they got a large number of fish, peter didn't rejoice but he fell down at Jesus' knees, saying, "Depart from me, for I am a sinful man, O Lord."
Jesus said to Simon, "Do not be afraid; from now on you will be catching men."
Why?
Do not come too close to the crowd, crowd are usually blind to their target. Keep my path on the way of God.
Our knowledge may lead us to wrong way and mind, follow the instruction of the Lord, it is the best way, His leading always is the best one to me. Pray to the Lord always.
Peter might has suspicion to the word of Jesus, but he likes to do and see it if follow the word of Jesus. When he saw the wonder results, his suspicion is to himself, but not to the Jesus.
Humble myself before the Lord, I am a sinful man either.
Under the gift of the Lord to us, we may use the gift for the Lord in different way like Peter. What is my gift? Passion, honest, fellowship, scientific study-> bible teaching, etc.
"Do and see how about the result if I trust in the Lord" is my first step to believe in Jesus. It is same as Simon Peter.
How?
But at your word I well follow it, I can give up all my idea or my consideration, but follow the guidance of the Lord.

Authority message

Luke 4:31-44
Jesus message had authority, people were amazed at his teaching.
A devil, an evil spirit knows Jesus. They shouting, "You are the Son of God!"
Jesus has power and authority gives orders to evil spirits an they come out!
I must preach the good news of the kingdom of God to the other towns also, because that is why I was sent.
Luke picks up Mark's narrative at this point, but by placing the two synagogue/sabbath stories next to one another brings out the sharp contrast in people's response to Jesus.
Why?
Demon in the ancient world it was widely held that many troubles are cause by evil spirits. The Bible says little about demon possession before or after the incarnation, but much during Jesus' ministry.; this phenomenon is part of the conflict between Jesus, who came to destroy the worlds of the devil, and evil.
Demon knows the Jesus is Christ, the Son of God, but many men don't know who he is.
Sermon in church if the words come from knowledge do not have authority, only comes from the Holy Spirit has authority, and the audience will feel the authority and power of words.
How?
Spiritual authority comes from the Lord, when the work permitted by God has the authority to shock people's heart.

Is this the carpenter's son?

Luke 4:14-30
The good news of Jesus proclaimed is "The Spirit o the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to release the poorest, to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor."
No prophet is accepted in his hometown, so as Jesus won't be accepted in his hometown, like Elijah was not sent others in Israel but to a widow in Zarephath, there were may in Israel with leprosy in the time of Elisha, yet not one of them was cleansed- only Naaman the Syrian.
Is this the carpenter's son? Jesus was rejected at Nazareth.
Why?
At the implication that because of their disbelief the gospel will be offered to non-Jews, the people are all set to lynch(put to death) him.
The synagogue: Any Jewish man might be invited to take part in the service of prayers, readings and sermon. The leader stood to pray and read from the scrolls, sat down to teach.
Most people reject the good news of Jesus, only the blessed chosen one will turn to Jesus, believe in Him is belong to the Lord.
Good news from Jesus has the power and healing to everyone. It is the real freedom, recovery.
Reading a man or knowing the Jesus Christ is not based on his birth place, but on what he has done.
How?
Gospel have to be preached to the world through us, even many reject this good news, the Lord is working on it. When we do it, we are gain.

Power of God's words

Luke 4:1-13
The temptation of Jesus.
Three temptations are food, authority and test God's word.
1.Man shall not live by bread alone.
2.You shall worship the Lord your God, and him only shall you serve.
3.You shall not put the Lord your God to the test.
Devil came used part word of the Lord to make temptation, but Jesus used the real meaning of God's word to answer devil.
When the devil had ended every temptation, he departed from Jesus until an opportune time.
Even devil acknowledges that Jesus is son of God.
Why?
Trust in the Lord and learning his word, it can defeat the attack of devil.
Opportune time: Devil's temptation may leave us when we follow God's words, but devil will not stop making temptation to us. Be aware about it.
Food and authority are good and we needy for living and preach the gospel, but it is not the way of devil's talk.
How?
Carefully to read the words of God, and trust in Him. Live out the words of God. There is the love in it, but not the rules only.
