Luke 12:1-32
Be on your guard against the yeast of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy.
There is nothing concealed that will not be disclosed, or hidden that will not be made known.
Fear him who, after the killing of the body, has power to throw you into hell. Yet not one of them is forgotten by God. Don't be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows. -- If you are doing right don't be afraid.
Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; a man's life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions.
The parable of a rich man wants to build bigger barns for his good crop. Don't be a fool! Life is in hands of God!
Do not worry about your life. Life is more than food, and the body more than clothes. How much more value your are than birds! Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life.
Seek God's kingdom, and these things will be given to you as will. Your Father has been pleased to give you the kingdom.
Why?
A warning to the disciples about the danger of saying one thing and doing another leads into general teaching about the coming judgement, and how it should affect life here and now.
It is essential to be prepared, to get priorities right.
Right 'fear' of God that holds people steady against other fears.
Only Luke records the story of the rich but foolish man bent on amassing money and all that it can buy, instead of being 'rich towards God'
What you have said in dark room or inner room will be proclaimed.
How?
Knowing the authority of God, don't worry about anything. Don't fear to do right thing - seek kingdom of God. Don't worry about my life. Be aware of the hypocrisy and greed!
