Best heritage to my hair : observe what the Lord your God require

1 Kings 2:1-9
When the time drew near for David to die, he gave a charge to Solomon his son.
To God:
So be strong, show yourself a man, and observe what the Lord your God require; Walk in his ways, and keep his decrees and commands, his laws and requirements, so that you may prosper in all you do and wherever you go, and that the Lord may keep his promise to me : 'If your descendants watch how they live, and if they walk faithfully before me with all their heart and soul, you will ever fail to have a man on the throne of Israel.'
To men:
Show kindness to the sons of Barzillai of Gilead.
Do not let Joab his gray head go down to the grace in peace. Deal with him according to your wisdom.
You are a man of wisdom you will know what to do to Shimei son of Gera. Bring his gray head down to the grave in blood.
As death approaches, David gives Solomon his final instructions. High-toned advice is abruptly (突然) followed by worldly wisdom of doubtful morality.
Why?
Observe what the Lord your God require is the way to prosper in wherever we go and in all we do.
This is an important rule to Solomon and to all Christians.
Walk faithfully before God with all my heart and soul. God's blessing, mercy and grace will be with me.
How?
Only walk faithfully before God with all my heart and soul is the best heritage to my hair.
