“Go ahead then, do what you promised! Keep your vows! But hear the word of the Lord, all you Jews living in Egypt: ‘I swear by my great name,’ says the Lord, ‘that no one from Judah living anywhere in Egypt will ever again invoke my name or swear, “As surely as the Sovereign Lord lives.” For I am watching over them for harm, not for good; the Jews in Egypt will perish by sword and famine until they are all destroyed.
This is what the Lord says: ‘I am going to deliver Pharaoh Hophra king of Egypt into the hands of his enemies who want to kill him, just as I gave Zedekiah king of Judah into the hands of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, the enemy who wanted to kill him.
A Message to Baruch:
Do not seek them. For I will bring disaster on all people, declares the Lord, but wherever you go I will let you escape with your life.
This short chapter connects with chapter 26, the writing of the scroll in 605. Baruch shared something of Jeremiah's distress. God promises he will escape the coming slaughter in the 'tearing down' and pulling up of what god has built and planted. That must suffice. This promise comes true in 43:5-6
Why?
People from Judah swear their vows, but God declared with his holy name. Which will come true. It is clear. How foolish those men.
God is the Sovereign Lord of history of all human being!
How?
Pray to the Lord with fear and faith, for we are his children for He is the Sovereign Lord!
