Numbers 12:1-15
Miriam and Aaron began to take against Moses because if his Cushitic wife, for he had married a Cushitic. Has the Lord spoken only through Moses? They asked. Hasn’t he also spoken through us? And the Lord herd this.
When there is a prophet among you, I, the Lord, reveal myself to them in vision, I speak to them in dreams. But this is not true of my servant Moses; With him I speak face to face clearly and not in riddles; he sees the form of the Lord. Why then were you not afraid to speak against my servant Moses.
The Lord replied to Moses, If her father had spit in her face, would she not have been in disgrace for seven days? Confine her outside the camp for seven days; after that she can be brought back.
Miriam and Aaron, Moses’ sister and brother, are the next to complain. The real bone of contention is not Moses’ wife, but his position. As Miriam is the one to be punished, presumably she was the instigator. Moses is silent, but God’s answer is a remarkable tribute to the man.
Why?
Complaining reasons sometime is a execute but the real cause is the position. They wonder why we have to obey the word of Moses.
But Moses is the only one chosen and speak to him face to face. It is the Lord who like Moses and speak to him like friend clearly and not in riddle.
Respect the servant of the Lord, for they have been anointed by the Holy Spirit.
How?
Honor the name of the Lord and respect the servant of the Lord!
