Numbers 13:1-33
The Lord said to Moses, "Send some men to explore the land of Canaan, which I am giving to the Israelites. From each ancestral tribe send one of its leaders."
At the end of forty days they returned from exploring the land.
There they reported to them and to the whole assembly and showed them the fruit of the land. They gave Moses this account: “We went into the land to which you sent us, and it does flow with milk and honey! Here is its fruit. But the people who live there are powerful, and the cities are fortified and very large.
Then Caleb silenced the people before Moses and said, “We should go up and take possession of the land, for we can certainly do it.”
But the men who had gone up with him said, “We can’t attack those people; All the people we saw there are of great size. We seemed like grasshoppers in our own eyes, and we looked the same to them.
From Deuteronomy it seems plain that Moses intended to go straight on into the promised land at this point; it was the people's suggestion that they should send spies ahead. No doubt Moses afterward wished he had not listened. The two men of faith put the true interpretation on the facts, but the people listened to the ten prophets of doom, with their tales of giants and grasshoppers.
Why?
Forty days is a good number in the Bible, it is a good test period in our life.
Send some men to explore the land of Canaan is good idea to Israelite.
But Israelite forgot the Lord is with them, so they saw the size of the people of Canaan, there were the great men and grasshoppers comparison.
It is the problem of the faith to the Lord.
People always thought they are facing the difficulty, and forget the Lord is the help with strong hands.
Only Caleb & Jesua said we can certainly do it.
How?
Trust the Lord, nothing is impossible to our God.
