2 Samuel 24:15-25
So the Lord sent a plague on Israel from that morning until the end of the time designated, and seventy thousand of the people from Dan to Beersheba died. When the angel stretched out his hand to destroy Jerusalem, the Lord relented concerning the disaster and said to the angel who was afflicting the people, “Enough! Withdraw your hand.” The angel of the Lord was then at the threshing floor of Araunah the Jebusite.
On that day Gad went to David and said to him, “Go up and build an altar to the Lord on the threshing floor of Araunah the Jebusite.” So David went up, as the Lord had commanded through Gad.
But the king replied to Araunah, “No, I insist on paying you for it. I will not sacrifice to the Lord my God burnt offerings that cost me nothing.”
So David bought the threshing floor and the oxen and paid fifty shekels of silver for them. David built an altar to the Lord there and sacrificed burnt offerings and fellowship offerings. Then the Lord answered his prayer in behalf of the land, and the plague on Israel was stopped.
The first readers did not need to be told the tremendous significance of David's purchase, explicitly mentioned in 1 Chronicle. On this threshing-floor the Temple was built, close to the place where Abraham prepared to offer up Isaac.
Why?
When God sends disaster or punishment to men, it is a severe punishment. One day there were seventy thousand of the people died.
God who forgives David and his people in Jerusalem, so God grieved and said to the angel "Enough! Withdraw your hand."
David purchased the land and make burnt offerings. Give an offering to the Lord needs to pay,

後悔不是做錯了,可以改變了。憐惜眾人。
神的恩典在前面,大衛的禱告在後面。不是多麼會祈求,神的恩典早已預備。
這裏就是大衛看見天使的地方。
沒有付出代價的奉獻,不叫奉獻。我們不能把神當作資源回收場,把自己不用的奉獻給神!
不能隨便慷他人之慨!
瘟疫早已止住,不是大衛獻祭才停止。大衛並不知瘟疫已經停,而是迦德說了,就聽話。
大衛願意聽別人的諫
母耳記停在神為人預備的路。
人在恩典之下、順服、謙卑、禱告。結束在垂聽人民的禱告

先求他的國和神的義

憂慮開始。
上班想到,睡覺在想,這就是憂慮
人在世上只是過客,
時間常浪費在世界的產業
日常生活有那些事與永恆有關?
許多憂慮在明天該怎麽辦?勿以為我們可以掌握人生。
放手吧,沒有人能掌管明天。
我們很難定義什麼是神的國,神的義,只是甚的事比較重要,還是自己的事重要。
生命的秩序才重要
憂慮開始。

David takes a census of Israel and Judah
2 Samuel 24:1-14
Again the anger of the Lord burned against Israel, and he incited David against them, saying, “Go and take a census of Israel and Judah.”
The king’s word, however, overruled Joab and the army commanders; so they left the presence of the king to enroll the fighting men of Israel.
After they had gone through the entire land, they came back to Jerusalem at the end of nine months and twenty days.
Joab reported the number of the fighting men to the king: In Israel there were eight hundred thousand able-bodied men who could handle a sword, and in Judah five hundred thousand.500,000
David was conscience-stricken after he had counted the fighting men, and he said to the Lord, “I have sinned greatly in what I have done. Now, Lord, I beg you, take away the guilt of your servant. I have done a very foolish thing.”
So Gad went to David and said to him, “Shall there come on you three years of famine in your land? Or three months of fleeing from your enemies while they pursue you? Or three days of plague in your land? Now then, think it over and decide how I should answer the one who sent me.” David said to Gad, “I am in deep distress. Let us fall into the hands of the Lord, for his mercy is great; but do not let me fall into human hands.”
It is not clear why it was wrong to take the census. Perhaps it indicated reliance on numbers, instead of on God. The conscious that his readers may have a problem with God first inciting David to take the census, then punishing him for doing so - has Satan doing the inciting.
Why?
Satan incited David takes a census of Israel and Judah. It is the proud mind inside David to know how many man in his country.
God's mercy and grace are full and numerous, but God cares about the mind of human beings. Not one can escape the inner heart from the eyes of the Lord.
David knew he was wrong so he asked mercy from the Lord, and he took the one from hands of the Lord, instead of hands of man.

我們是依靠神還是依靠兵強馬壯呢?我們要選擇那一個呢?

David’s Mighty Warriors
2 Samuel 23:8-39
These are the names of David’s mighty warriors.
Josheb-Basshebeth, a Tahkemonite, was chief of the Three; he raised his spear against eight hundred men, whom he killed in one encounter.
During harvest time, three of the thirty chief warriors came down to David at the cave of Adullam, while a band of Philistines was encamped in the Valley of Rephaim. Abishai the brother of Joab son of Zeruiah was chief of the Three. He raised his spear against three hundred men, whom he killed, and so he became as famous as the Three.
There were thirty-seven in all.
The exploits of "The Three" against the Philistines are followed by an incident from the campaign described in 5:17-25; Bethlehem was David's home town. Then come the exploits of two leaders (Abishai, leader of 'Te Thirty', and Benaiah, leader of the Philistine mercenaries). followed by a list of the special guard. The group was probably formed at Ziklag, and helped to put David on the throne. More than 30 are listed - those killed (eg. Asahel, Uriah)were replaced by others.
Why?
David is a worrier so there are may warriors who come to him and help him to be king of Israel. So here is the list of his warrior and remember who they are and what they have done for Israelite.
Uriah is mentioned here to remember his honest to the king and his people.

為什麼在大衛遺言後記載他的功臣。他治國有許多將才,帶領他們來治理國家。一小群人一起來服事。如同耶穌說兩三個人同心禱告神必重聽。彼此相互依賴、幫補。不是只看自己,也要顧及別人,我們在一群人中是否也能謙卑下來。
前三人特色是別人逃跑,他們卻英勇抗敵。在惡劣環境中站立得住。
我們應該對付的是外面敵人,不是內戰。大衛為何要喝那水,表示想念家鄉,過平靜生活的心。伯利恒已經在非利士人手上,顯然只顧追殺大衛,沒有好好保衛家鄉。他們表達對主很敏銳的心,滿足體貼神的心。
30名中,沒有約押,雖然戰功輝煌,但是只是為了自己的利益。反而為約押拿兵器的人被記錄。
神賜下一群人來服事神,讓我們合一來服事神。我們雖然沒有什麼才華,求神賜我們一個敏銳的心,體貼神的心意,為神擺上。

When one rules over men in righteousness, when he rules in the fear of God
2 Samuel 23:1-7
These are the last words of David.
The Spirit of the Lord spoke through me; his word was on my tongue. The God of Israel spoke, the Rock of Israel said to me; When one rules over men in righteousness, when he rules in the fear of God, he is like the light of morning at sunrise on a cloudless morning, like the brightness after rain that brings the grass from the earth.
Is not my house right with God? Has he not made with me an everlasting covenant, arranged and secured in every part? Will he not bring to fruition my salvation and grant me my every desire?
But evil men are all to be cast aside like thorns which are not gathered with the hand.
These may be the last words 'the singer of Israel's psalms' set down in poetry. His thoughts centered on what makes a good ruler, on his own standing before God, and on the promised dynasty - a fitting close to the life of the king who for all his faults was 'a man after God's own heart.'
Why?
David mentioned how to be a good ruler, fear of God is the rules.
God has made with David an everlasting covenant, even his house is not right with God, for David turned from sin and focused on the Lord.
To be a general manager should rule over men in righteousness and wisdom comes from the Lord.
We have many desires but when we follow God' way, God is the provider grant me every desire.
神的揀選:大衛從來沒有去爭取,膏油代表聖靈,聖靈的引導,約束,管制是神所設立的。
神的託付:以公義來治理人民,在敬畏神之下掌權。日出的晨光,衝破黑暗,溫暖大地。使地發生嫩草。帶來生命,產業。君王該做的事。
深感沒有達成神賜的恩賜,看到自己不敬畏神,不配,沒有那麼公義,神卻與他立永恆的約。神永不改變!
荊棘是世上的思慮,匪類包刮所讓我們無法親近神的都是。會使我們受傷,要用兵器,鐵器,終究要被神以火焚燒。
我們是否願意接受神的約束管制!

He shows unfailing kindness to his anointed
2 Samuel 22:32-51
It is God who arms me with strength and keeps my way secure. He makes my feet like the feet of a deer; he causes me to stand on the heights. He trains my hands for battle; my arms can bend a bow of bronze.
You have delivered me from the attacks of the peoples; you have preserved me as the head of nations. People I did not know now serve me.
He gives his king great victories; he shows unfailing kindness to his anointed, to David and his descendants forever.
Why?
God is like rock who will not change and who is our stronghold. God shows unfailing kindness to his anointed one. All of us are his children.
How great is our God! no one can compare with the Lord.
God delivers us from the attacks of the peoples and preserves us as the head of nations. God not only preserves our life but also support us in the head of nations.

You, Lord, are my lamp; the Lord turns my darkness into light
2 Samuel 22:8-31
He parted the heavens and came down; dark clouds were under his feet. He mounted the cherubim and flew; he soared on the wings of the wind. He made darkness his canopy around him— the dark rain clouds of the sky. Out of the brightness of his presence bolts of lightning blazed forth.
“The Lord has dealt with me according to my righteousness; according to the cleanness of my hands he has rewarded me. For I have kept the ways of the Lord; I am not guilty of turning from my God. All his laws are before me; I have not turned away from his decrees. I have been blameless before him and have kept myself from sin. The Lord has rewarded me according to my righteousness, according to my cleanness in his sight.
To the faithful you show yourself faithful, to the blameless you show yourself blameless, to the pure you show yourself pure, but to the devious, you show yourself shrewd. You save the humble, but your eyes are on the haughty to bring them low. You, Lord, are my lamp; the Lord turns my darkness into light.
Why?
David praised the Lord for his righteousness, and David kept his way on God's way with love and humble and pure heart.
How great is the Lord! To Him, there is nothing hindered. His power over the earth and universe.
The Lord dealt with us according to our righteousness and our cleanness.
To the evil man and righteous man, God rewards them according to their behavior.
God is my lamp, the Lord turns my darkness into light for God show me the right way when I follow his decrees.

神來的迅速,且來的隱秘,讓人看不見。神在工作我們沒有看到,因為我們只在意我們的痛苦。
拯救與保護的神:神從高天救我出深淵。寬闊的地方可以是心靈的寬闊,也是生活上的寬闊。
經歷這樣的恩典是因為緊緊依靠神!
我們不能背逆神同時來祈求神。高傲的人神仍然愛他,但是使他降卑下來。

The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer
2 Samuel 22:1-7
The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation.
He is my stronghold, my refuge, and my savior— from violent people you save me.
I called to the Lord, who is worthy of praise, and have been saved from my enemies.
In my distress I called to the Lord; I called out to my God. From his temple he heard my voice; my cry came to his ears.
This is virtually identical with Psalm 18, and can be compared with Moses's song in Deuteronomy 32. It belongs to the period of David's great early victories.
Why?
David wrote a song for the Lord, for he experienced the great salvation from the Lord.
In his distress, he called to the Lord, and the Lord saved him from death.
Be holy and conscious before the Lord, then our prayer could reach to the Lord and God will help us.
Rock, fortress and deliver means the stronghold to defense enemy or risk.
So I do not complain to any other for God is my salvation.

v1-4: 宣告
自然界的景物觸動他領受 大能。
岩石、磐石來形容神不改變,神的可靠,無論環境如何改變,神都不改變。
山寨、保壘:四周無處可躲的地方,得不到奧援的地方,神都在那裏支援我們。
拯救的角、高臺: 表示權柄高大,勝過一切。
所有細微的事、動物都在神的手中。
即使仍在仇敵手中,仍然讚美神,在危難中向主祈求必得著力量。
v5-7 描寫危險的情形。求告及呼求七次,這是我們唯一能做的。
讚美使我們得到力量。
V5-10 是摘要,急流: 急速來到,讓人措手不及。
從殿中聽我的聲音:在會幕表達神同在的真實性。與人生活在一起。聽到、聽見,而且神聽進去,有反應、有作為。

David wrote a song for the Lord, for he experienced the great salvation from the Lord.
In his distress, he called to the Lord, and the Lord saved him from death.
Be holy and conscious before the Lord, then our prayer could reach to the Lord and God will help us.
Rock, fortress and deliver means the stronghold to defense enemy or risk.
So I do not complain to any other for God is my salvation.

岩石、磐石來形容神不改變,神的可靠,無論環境如何改變,神都不改變。
山寨、保壘:四周無處可躲的地方,得不到奧援的地方,神都在那裏支援我們。
拯救的角、高臺: 表示權柄高大,勝過一切。
所有細微的事、動物都在神的手中。
即使仍在仇敵手中,仍然讚美神,在危難中向主祈求必得著力量。
v5-7 描寫危險的情形。求告及呼求七次,這是我們唯一能做的。
讚美使我們得到力量。
V5-10 是摘要,急流: 急速來到,讓人措手不及。
從殿中聽我的聲音:在會幕表達神同在的真實性。與人生活在一起。聽到、聽見,而且神聽進去,有反應、有作為。

Keep pure conscious heart before the Lord
2 Samuel 21:1-22
For there was a famine for three successive years; so David sought the face of the Lord.
It is because Saul put the Gibeoneites to death. Saul had sweared to spare them, but Saul in his zeal for Israel and Judah had tried to annihilated them.
David spared Mephibosheth son of Jonathan. David took Armani and Mephiboshedh the two sons of Aiah’s Daughter Rizpah, whom had borne to Saul, together with the five sons of Saul’s daughter Merab whom she had borne to Adriel son of Barzillai the Meholathite.
After that, God answered prayer in behalf of the land.
David’s men swore to David, “Never again will you go out with us to battle so that the lamp of Israel will not be extinguished.”
These four were descendants of Rapha in Gath, and they fell at the hands of David and his men.
V1-14 probably precede Mephibosheth’s welcome at court.
The story of Isreal’s Pact with Gideon is told in Joshua. Saul had apparently broken the treaty, despite close family connections with the city.
Why?
Our Lord is righteousness, no one who is with sin or innocent bloodshed and his prayer could be listened by the Lord.
David kept his promise to Jonathan, so his son, Mephibosheth’s life.

A wise woman helped her city won't be destroyed
2 Samuel 20:14-26
All the troops with Joab came and besieged Sheba in Abel Beth Maakah. They built a siege ramp up to the city, and it stood against the outer fortifications. While they were battering the wall to bring it down, a wise woman called from the city, “Listen! Listen! Tell Joab to come here so I can speak to him.”
We are peaceful and faithful in Israel. You are trying to destroy a city that is a mother in Israel. Why do you want to swallow up the Lord’s inheritance? “Far be it from me!” Joab replied, “Far be it from me to swallow up or destroy! That is not the case. A man named Sheba son of Bikri, from the hill country of Ephraim, has lifted up his hand against the king, against David. Hand over this one man, and I’ll withdraw from the city.
Then the woman went to all the people with her wise advice, and they cut off the head of Sheba son of Bikri and threw it to Joab. So he sounded the trumpet, and his men dispersed from the city, each returning to his home. And Joab went back to the king in Jerusalem.
A wise woman helped her city won't be destroyed.
Why?
War is terrible but a wise man can stop the war and get peace.
Sheba is one man who has not good training for battle, so his troop soon besieged by Joab.

Joab killed Amasa is despicable behavior
2 Samuel 20-1-13
Shiba rebels against David. So all the men of Israel deserted David to follow Sheba son of Bicri.
The ten concubines he had left to take care of the palace and put them in a house under guard.
Amasa late to summon the men of Judah within three days. so David said to Abishai take his men and pursue Sheba.
Joab killed Amasa who was no on his guard against the dagger in Joab's hand.
No one crosses the dead body of Amasa until it had been removed from the road.
Despite the statement in verse 2, those who actively support Sheba in his revolt, when it comes to it are few.
Joab is as quick to kill Amasa ( a member of his own family) for his loss of command as he was to kill Abner, when his own position was threatened before. In both cases his treachery is despicable(他的背叛都是卑鄙的). The kiss and the sword-trust bring to mind Judas' betrayal of Jesus. David did not forget or forgive.
Why?
These ten concubines did as God had said, David knew this is the punishment to him, so David did not kill them but keep away from them, they were living as widows.
Jaob is a despicable man all that he did is for his own prophets, when Amasa over him be a commander and he kills his enemy by the despicable way. This is not a solider's behavior.
When we honor the name of the Lord should walk in the right way. God does not lack anything, but God likes us to have a pure heart and love.

十倍關係變成與大衛無關份,人因為利益關係不認。人常常解釋時朝著自己的思想去解釋,按自己意思解釋9聖經,降低神話語的權威。我們不會一下子否認神,卻會慢慢的離開神。勿為了自己的喜好、利益而漸漸離疏遠神。
按著律法這十位妃子,應該處死,但是大衛知道這是因為他犯罪的結果,所以留存她們性命。三天之內要亞馬撒募集兵其實有困難而且叫不動猶大的軍隊。約押其實沒有兵權,在戰亂時,應該先去作戰,約押卻先報私仇。

Anything you desire from me I will do for you
2 Samuel 19:31-43
But Barzillai answered the king, “How many more years will I live, that I should go up to Jerusalem with the king?
Let your servant return, that I may die in my own town near the tomb of my father and mother. But here is your servant Kimham. Let him cross over with my lord the king. Do for him whatever you wish.”
David said, “ And anything you desire from me I will do for you.”
But Barzillai answered the king, “How many more years will I live, that I should go up to Jerusalem with the king?

Why then do you treat us with contempt? Weren’t we the first to speak of bringing back our king?”
But the men of Judah pressed their claims even more forcefully than the men of Israel.
The dispute between the men of Judah and the ten tribes begins a fight which widens in chapter 20 and will split the kingdom after Solomon’s Death.
Why?
Barzillai has royalty to king David and he doesn’t love the king for any profit but just love him, so David answer him anything you desire from me I will do for you.
To be a Christian should like Barzillai do anything for the Lord without any request, for we are nothing without the Lord and our life is limited. When we are getting older the beauty and delicious food are meaning to me.
Judah and Israelite ten bribes were disputed among them, it began the kingdom split in the future. So a small dispute if does not be solved it will be huge problem in the near future.-

巴西萊供應王許多物資,送王過河,對於大衛而言是他最需要幫助的時候,因此感激他。我們在最軟弱的時候,神收留我們,禮遇我們。我們在教會參予服事,地位愈來愈高,我們怎麼看我們為主做事呢?大衛的生活物資等都是巴西萊做的。我們是否常常向神訴說:主啊,我為你做了許多工作,週到一些挫折,開始向神抱怨。我們能夠服事後,千萬不要想我們向主做了多少。
猶大人與以色列人爭論。暗暗的是指偷走了。猶大人說我們和大衛親是親屬,以色列人有十分的情份。這當中他們在爭話語權。王朝恢復後誰可以占頭功,好像民間信仰在強頭香。爭誰與國王的關係深。好像約翰兄弟在面前爭誰比較大。我們在教會中不能來比較誰比較屬靈,誰與神關係好,刷存在感。猶大與以色列人在是在爭誰的讚按的比較多?這些都是屬世的價值觀。

讓我們在教會中學習隱藏自己,學習謙卑。

Anxious to find favor before the king
2 Samuel 19:15-30
David forgave the sin of Shimei when Shimei confessed he has sin who cursed the king.
Mephibosheth, also went down to meet the king. He had not taken care of his feet or trimmed his mustache or washed his clothes from the day the king left until the day he returned safely. He replied to the king, “My lord the king, since I your servant am lame, I will have my donkey waggled and will ride on it, so I can go with the king.’ But Ziba my servant betrayed me. And he has slandered your servant to my lord the king. My lord the king is like an angel of God; so do whatever you wish.”
The king said to him, “Why say more? I order you and Ziba to divide the land.” Mephibosheth said to the king, “Let him take everything, now that my lord the king has returned home safely.”
David is in effect punishing loyalty and rewarding rebellion. Now that the king is crack in power, there are some who are anxious to find favor. Shimei and Barzillai.
Why?
David rewarded the rebellion, and treated kind to those who cursed him. Forgave Mephibosheth did not come with him. David did not punish Ziba for he betrayed his master. All of these make his country in peace and united.
Because today is Israel day so David showed his kindness to everyone. This is the high altitude of a king to all his people. This is a joyful day. Salvation is come.
Mephibosheth is humble and appreciated the king David, so he did not care what he has.
David asked the reason why Mephibosheth did not come with him, so when we doubt something we should ask the one to make it clear.

米非波設不是見風轉舵,他從大衛落難第一天開始沒有修腳洗衣服,對大衛的心始終如一,更有說服力,沒有搶第一去迎接。存心謙卑,心存感恩。我本來就是該死的人,不配得到的人,他也不求他失去的土地,體貼大衛的難處。只求他主人的好處。我們基督徒也須要像他一樣。我們本來是不配的,我們應只為神著想。我們常常是滿足自己而不是主的心。我們求的是什麼?

Are you not my own flesh and blood?
2 Samuel 19:1-14
Joab saint to David “Today you have humiliated all your men, who have just saved your life and the lives of your sons and daughters and the live of your wives and concubines. You love those who hate you and hate those who love you. Now go out and encourage your men. I swear by the Lord that if you don’t go out, not a man will be left with you by nightfall.” So the king got up and took his seat in the gateway. When the men were told, “The king is sitting in the gateway,” they all came before him. Meanwhile, the Israelites had fled to their homes.
King David sent this message to Zadok and Abiathar, the priests: “Ask the elders of Judah, “Why should you be the last to bring the king back to his palace, since what is being said throughout Israel has reached the king at his quarters? You are my relatives, my own flesh and blood. So why should you be the last to bring back the king?”
David said to Amasa, ‘Are you not my own flesh and blood? May God deal with me, be it ever so severely, if you are not the commander of my army for life in place of Joab.
Shimei son of Gera, Ziba and his fifteens sons and twenty servant, they rushed to the Jordan, where the king was. They crossed at the ford to take the king’s you hold over and to do whatever he wished.
Terrible grief and remorse blind the king to the effect of his conduct on the people. Joab’s harsh words bring him to his senses and save him from political disaster.
Judah had backed Absalom. David’s attempt to win them back, and his appointment of Amasa (Absalom’s army commander, and his own nephew) in Joab’s place leads to further trouble.
Why?
David was involved in grief of his son making worse political disaster. Joab gave good opinion to David return to the right action. Somehow good men or bad men did the right thing to us we did not know, but finally God can change it to benefit to who follow the Lord.
Israelites were felled so they all fled to their homes, they were together for their position and benefit when Absalom called them.
But those who followed with David when David lost his right and power, so we may distinguish who has royalty to the king.
David planed to replace Joab to Amasa as commander of his army.
Are you not my own flesh and blood? So we should love our brother and sister in the church first then love others outside church.

大衛出來回應百姓的支持。人的心情特別是領袖會影響全國,人若一直以情緒待人,無限制發展下去成為破口。一時的情緒是難免但是不能持續下去。
不再自哀自憐,顧慮到國家別人的需要。當我們放下自己的需要,情緒,感覺,去顧慮別人的需要感受,神會帶領我們走出悲哀,情緒。

David knew how to turn the heart of Israelite and Judah back to him. All of these strategy are the wisdom from the Lord.
Joab saint to David “Today you have humiliated all your men, who have just saved your life and the lives of your sons and daughters and the live of your wives and concubines. You love those who hate you and hate those who love you. Now go out and encourage your men. I swear by the Lord that if you don’t go out, not a man will be left with you by nightfall.” So the king got up and took his seat in the gateway. When the men were told, “The king is sitting in the gateway,” they all came before him. Meanwhile, the Israelites had fled to their homes.
King David sent this message to Zadok and Abiathar, the priests: “Ask the elders of Judah, “Why should you be the last to bring the king back to his palace, since what is being said throughout Israel has reached the king at his quarters? You are my relatives, my own flesh and blood. So why should you be the last to bring back the king?”
David said to Amasa, ‘Are you not my own flesh and blood? May God deal with me, be it ever so severely, if you are not the commander of my army for life in place of Joab.
Shimei son of Gera, Ziba and his fifteens sons and twenty servant, they rushed to the Jordan, where the king was. They crossed at the ford to take the king’s you hold over and to do whatever he wished.

Not only patient but also meditate the heart of the Lord
2 Samuel 18:16-33
First one told Davie what he has seen. But did not tell the event of Absalom. Second one told David Absalom is dead.
Come alone mean good news for most troop are on the field and send a messenger to report the king.
When David knew his son Absalom is dead, he went up to the room over the gateway and wept. As he went, he said: “O my son Absalom! My son, Absalom! It only I had died instead of you.”
David’s defeat of Absalom is God’s victory. Joab’s orders are to spare David’s son, but he is shrewd enough to see that only the death of the pretender - or the king - can settle the issue.
Why?
Absalom were like to keep his name in the history so he make a pillar with his name.
Ahimaaz son of Zadok insisted went to David report the situation of the war, but Joab did not allowed, until the second time, Joab allowed him to tell David. Ahimaaz did not mentioned about Absalom. Joab said to a Cushitic to tell the king what he has seen. For Joab though when David heard Absalom is dead, the messenger might be killed or be punished.
Joab knew there will be no reward when they defeated Absalom and killed Absalom.
David hope to defeat the army of Absalom but keep the life of Absalom, so the victory got half to David. Sometime we though are not same as what we though. Everything has God’s idea and his way.
Hurry to report does not mean have good feedback. Told the detail would be better.

Beautiful hair should tangle in the oak and Lead him a helpless prey
2 Samuel 18:1-15
So the king stood beside the gate while all his men marched out in units of hundreds and of thousands.
The king commanded Joab, Abishai and Ittai, “Be gentle with they young man Absalom for my sake.”
There Israel’s troops were routed by David’s men and the casualties(killed or injured) that day were great - twenty thousand men.
The forest swallowed up more men that day than the sword.
Joab killed Absalom in the oak tree. Even the first one of the men saw what had happened. He obeyed the command of David.
David’s defeat of Absalom is God’s victory. Joab’s Orders are to spare David’s son, but he is shrewd enough to see that only the death fo the pretender - or the king - can settle the issue. David did not forgive Joab for Absalom’s death. It was ironic that the young man’s beautiful hair should tangle in the oak and leave him a helpless prey.
Why?
David loved his son even he was multinational to him. But Joab did not care king’s command, he insisted to kill Absalom, to gain his own prophecy. Joab may capture Absalom and don’t have to kill him. This war will ended either.
Fighter in the forest let people died in the environment instead by the sword. This war is good to David’s troops.
David knew what is happened as the Lord knew what happened among us.

Here shows David has ability to lead the army and reorganize his troops. David even like to fight with emend. But people like David should be a leader and stay in town. It shows the love from his followers.
Here is focus on how the Absalom died and how the reaction of Joab.
God uses forest to help David’s troops.
神使用環境成為我們的幫助,致勝的因素。神使用讓我們絕望的環境。
押撒龍的頭髮顯示他的生命力,他也以此為傲卻成為致命的原因。神賜我們恩賜,但是我們可以使用神賜的恩賜不能靠恩賜,我們可以使用神賜我們的外表,口才卻不能靠這些。我靠什麼東西,就會被這些東西擊敗。唯一可靠得是神自己。人想用方法解決問題,最後卻被自己的方法先解決掉。彼得用自己的方法來抵抗。 押撒龍靠魅力,外表,靠能力,靠地位來爭王位最後卻敗在自己的頭髮。
約押認為押撒龍不利國家。不殺押撒龍對君王的他不利,殺押沙龍對父親的他不忍,這是大衛犯罪後必須付出的代價,刀劍不離開你的家。我們每個人犯錯都要付出代價。求神當我們犯錯時所承擔的代價不超過我們所能承擔的的。

God blesses us through many we unknown men
2 Samuel 17:15-29
When Ahithophel saw that his advice had not been followed, he saddled his donkey and set out fro his house in his hometown. He put house in order and then hanged himself. So he died and was buried in his father’s tomb.
Shobi, Makir and Barzillai brought bedding and bowls and articles of pottery. They also brought wheat and barley, flour and roasted grain, beans and lentils, honey and curds, sheep, and cheese from cows milk for David and his people and hungry and thirsty in the wilderness.
Meantime, in an episode that recalls Joshua 2 and Rahab’s Saving of the two spies, Jonathan and Ahimaaz on their way to David with the information escape discovery through a woman’s protective action. Their warning gives the king just enough time to escape: to a warm welcome and a good meal, at last, for his famished men.
Why?
Ahithophel knew that Absalom will fail and he will be killed if he still alive so he handed himself.
This story is like Rahab’s story in Joshua 2, they save the two spies, same as this two men hired in well. If there is not protection of the Lord who can escape from the net.
Barzillai like angels brought so many supply to David when they were nothing in the wildness. So David remember what their mercy gave them forever.

The Lord had determined to
2 Samuel 17:1-14
But Absalom said, “Summon also Hushai the Arkite, so we can hear what he has to say as well.” When Hushai came to him, Absalom said, “Ahithophel has given this advice. Should we do what he says? If not, give us your opinion.”
Absalom and all the men of Israel said, “The advice of Hushai the Arkite is better than that of Ahithophel.” For the Lord had determined to frustrate the good advice of Ahithophel in order to bring disaster on Absalom.
Ahithophel’s advice is to strike quickly, and only against the person of the king - so avoiding civil war. But Hushai gains time for David by a scheme which appeals to Absalom’s vanity. Ahithophel has the foresight to realize the probable consequences - hence his suicide.
Why?
What is the good idea, people’s idea won’t be good idea, only the way with the Lord will be good way.
David let Hushai stayed in team of Absalom is good idea to affect decision of Absalom, meanwhile it is the Lord who make things changed.
Even Ahithophel suggested wonderful idea but did not be accepted is the Lord makes it done.

最強的時候往往也是最弱的時候。
這些人若有跟隨大衛的人回來反而會分權或是成為敵人。最好這些敵人全被殺掉。2.全國的軍隊:完全是人的觀念,以為人多好,目前只統治耶路撒冷,希望統治全以色列。我們常常很聰明,以為依靠人多馬多可以得勝。人往往在最得意的地方成為我們最大的弱點。
如果押撒龍依照亞希多弗的意見會如何呢?這個問題在聖經中不是這樣發展,即使如此,神可能有其他的安排。
