Ruth 4:1-8
Boaz went to the town gate and sat there. When the kinsman-redeemer he had mentioned came along, Boaz invite he sit down and invited ten elders of the town sit down there to be a witness.
Boaz said to the kinsman-redeemer,"I thought I should bring the matter of your attention and suggest that you buy it in the presence of these seated here and the presence of elders of my people. If you will redeem it, do so. But if you will not, tell me, so I will know."
The kinsman-redeemer said "I will redeem it", but when Boaz said "On the day day you buy the land from Nomi and from Ruth the Moabitess, in order to maintain the name of the dead with his property."
The kinsman-redeemer said he cannot redeem it because it might endanger his own estate. He said "buy it yourself". And he removed his sandal, it was the method of legalizing transaction in Israel.
Why?
Boaz quickly do this matter on that day, to confirm he has the right to redeem the land and take care Naomi and Ruth.
The kinsman-redeemer wanted to get the land but don't want to have Naomi and Ruth, he concerned it is not benefit to his estate.
The city gate is an important assemble/ It was also the place where leagal business could be publicly transacted.
Ten elders made up a proper 'court' which could decide legal matters.
To be a redeemer have right and obligation to take the hair of the people is a kind consideration in old Israel from the Load.
How?
Jesus is my life's redeemer, his blood erased my transgression and let me could be stand before the Load. Jesus knew me even before I know him.
