Teach us number the days

Daniel 5:13-31
Daniel explain first why those words were written in the wall.
For even his father Nebuchadnezzar sovereignty and greatness and glory and splendor. He was driven away from people and given the mind of an animal..., until he acknowledged that the Mot High God is sovereign over the kingdoms of men and sets over them anyone he wishes. Belshazar, have not humbled himself, though he knew all this.
You did not honor the God who holds in his hand your life and all your ways.
Daniel explained that 1)God has numbered the days of your reign and brought it to an end. 2)You have been weighed on the scales and found wanting. Your kingdom is divided and given to the Medes and Persians.
Daniel didn't want God gave him the honor and be made the third highest ruler in the kingdom, but the king gave him these after he explained these words.
The king's day were indeed numbered. That very night Cyrus the Persian took the impregnable city of Babylon, so the ancient historians tell us, by diverting the course of the River Euphrates and entering along the dry river-bed, while the Babylonians were at a feast of their gods.
Why?
Daniel is an old men at that time. These three words are weights or units of money.
No other historical record so far found mentions anyone of this name, Darius the Mede. Darius has been variously identified, but none of the suggestions is completely satisfactory. Perhaps this is another nae for Cyrus, who had mixed ancestry. In these case verse 31 would be translated 'Cyrus the Persian'
Even knew the God, has not humbled himself, the punishment might come from the God. He is just and sovereign Lord.
Our life and days are numbered in hands of God.
How much weight of my life in present of the Lord?
How?
Dear Lord please Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom(Psalm 90:12)
Honor my Lord his name with all my mind, all my heart and all my strength.

Has the spirit of the holy God

Daniel 5:1-12
King Belshazzar gave a great banquet for a thousand of this nobles and drank win with them. While Belshazzar was drinking his wine, he gave orders to bring in the gold and silver goblets that Nebuchadnezzar his father has taken from the temple in Jerusalem.
As they drank the wine, they praised the gods of gold and silver, of bronze, iron, wood and stone.
Suddenly the fingers of a human hand appeared and wrote on the plaster of the wall, ear the lampstand in the royal palace.
All the king's wise men came in, but they could not read the writing or tell the king what it meant.
King said if anyone can interpret it will be made the third highest ruler in the kingdom.
The queen, hearing the voice of the king and his nobles, came into the banquet hall, recommended king, there is a man in your kingdom who has the spirit of the holy god in him. He will tell you what the writing means. This man is Daniel.
Why?
Strictly speaking, Nabonidus was the last king of Babylon. But he retired to Arabia early in his reign leaving his son Belshazzar acting king in Babylon. Hence the fact that Daniel could be made only 'third ruler.'
The date is 530BC, 23 years after Nebuchadnezzar's death.
The wive of Belshazzar were there already, this Queen may have been the queen mother, Nebuchadnezzar's widow.
King Belshazzar blasphemed the God to use the goblet in God's temple in Jerusalem.
Daniel is the served in Babylon, he is the chief of the wise men. For God's spirit in him.
How?
Has the spirit of the holy God is essential to a follower of Jesus Christ. May the wisdom of the Holy Spirit within me and leads my way forward.

Everything God does is right and all his ways are just.

Daniel 4:28-37
All this dream happened 12 months later, as the king was walking on the roof of the royal palace of Babylon, he said,"is not this the great Babylon I have built as the royal residence, by my mighty power and for the glory of my majesty?"
At the end of that time, Nebuchadnezzar raise his eyes toward heaven, and his sanity was restored. Then he praised the Most High; He honored and glorified him who lives forever.
His dominion is an eternal dominion; his kingdom endures from generation to generation. All the peoples of the earth are regarded as nothing. He does as he pleases with the powers of heaven and the peoples of the earth. No one can hold back his hand or say to him: "What have you done?"
Nebuchadnezzar praise and exalt and glorify the King of heaven, because everything he does is right and all his ways are just. And those who walk in pride he is able to humble.
the Lord does as he pleases with the powers of heaven, everything he does is right and all his ways are just.
King's pride in his achievements an archaeology shows they really were something to boast of overrides Daniel's wise advice.
Why?
On Nebuchadnezzar 's illness, consultant psychiatrist Dr. M.G. Barker sees in Nebuchadnezzar's case the characteristic of depressive illness with relatively acute(急性) onset and delusional(妄想) belief of a morbid (痛苦 )nature. In this days before modern treatments, he says 'most such illnesses had a spontaneous remission within a period of one, two and occasionally, more years. The form of the delusion is unusual today, though Dr Baker has himself encountered two cases.
There is some evidence of a tradition that the king became ill in his later years, although contemporary official records, not surprisingly, are silent about this.
Great king of Babylon has to humble himself and he acknowledge the his kingdom can't compare with the dominion of an eternal dominion. Here shows us only God is the real Most High, king of kings.
The Lord does as he pleases with the powers of heaven, more important is that everything he does is right and all his ways are just.
How?
Worship the Lord, for he is worthy to be worshiped. His kingdom endures forever. Many things we do not understand for his way is beyond our way his mine is over our's.

Acknowledge that the Lord is real sovereign Lord over everything.

Daniel 4:1-27
King Nebuchadnezzar to the peoples, nations and men of every language, who live in all the world: May you prosper greatly! It is my pleasure to tell you about the miraculous signs and wonders that the Most High God has performed for me. How great are his signs, how mighty his wonders! His kingdom is an eternal kingdom; his dominion endures from generation to generation.
Nebuchadnezzar had another dream about a tree and be cut down when he was in his palace, contented and prosperous, but let the stump and its root, bound with iron and bronze, remain in the ground, in the grass of the field. He received message from heaven.
The decision is announced by messengers, the holy ones declare the verdict, so that the living may know that the Most high is sovereign over the kingdoms of men and gives them to anyone he wishes and sets over them the lowliest of men.
Daniel interprets the dream for king. Daniel advised king: renounce his sins by doing what is right, and his wickedness by being kind to the oppressed. It may be that then his prosperity will continue.
Why?
Nebuchadnezzar himself authenticates this extraordinary story. Perhaps sensing that this dream is against himself, he does not turn to Daniel straight away.
It is clear from Daniel's dismay that he does not wish the king ill.
Seven times: The length of time here as elsewhere in Daniel is unspecified. It was a definite, limited period of time fixed by God. (Seven years, is also possible)
King Nebuchadnezzar was proud in his achievement, so the Lord gave him a dream to warn him. King knew it, but he still proud in himself.
The most high, the Lord, sovereign over the kingdoms of men. No one can do what he wants to do, the Lord is sovereign Lord, his dominion endures for ever. No any kingdom on earth could be exist for ever.
When a man is living in situation of contented and prosperous, it is easy to proud.
How?
The love of the Lord is abundant, if renounce his sin by doing what is right and by being kind to oppressed, it may be the wrap of the God won't come.
Acknowledge that the Lord is real sovereign Lord over everything.

Praise be to the Lord!

Daniel 3:24-30
King Nebuchadnezzar leaped to hi feet amazement and asked his advisers,"Weren't there three men that we tied up and threw into the fire? Look! I see four men walking around in the fire, unbound and unharmed, and the fourth looks like a son of the gods."
King shouted them three "come out! come here" So Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego come out of the fire, they saw the fire had not harmed their body, nor clothes, governors, nor hair of their heads and there was not smell of fire on them.
Then, Nebuchadnezzar said, "Praise be to the God of  Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, who has sent his angel and rescued his servants! They trusted  in him and defied the king's command and were willing to give up their lives rather than serve or worship any god except their own God. I decree that the people of any nation or language who say anything against the God of their will be but into pieces and their houses be turned into piles of rubble, for no other god can save in this way."
Why?
The Lord did miracle in present of king Nebuchadnezzar and his people, let them know the God is real god can rescue his servants.
Again the king is compelled to worship.
When a man has faith in the Lord and forsake his own life to obey his commands, the Lord will save his life instead. God is faithfulness, mighty God and has mercy.
How?
Trust in Him, for his is the only God. Our Lord is faithfulness and powerful and full of mercy.

Strong faith as do not fear dead

Daniel 3:13-23
Furious with rage, Nebuchadnezzar summoned Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego to him, gave them one more chance to worship the image of gold he has set up. He said what god will be able to rescue you from my hand?
They replied to the king, "O Nebuchadnezzar, we do not need to defend ourselves before you in this matter. If we are throw into the blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to save us from it and he will rescue us from your hand, O, king. But even if he does not, we want you to know, O king, that we will not serve your gods or worship the image of gold you have set up."
These men, wearing their robes, trousers, turbans and other clothe, were bound and thrown into the blazing furnace. The flame of the fire killed the soldiers who took up them, and these three men, firmly tied, fell into the blazing furnace.
Why?
These three men have firm faith in the God, obeyed the Law of God. It is against the command of the Lord.
King Nebuchadnezzar furious with rage, with his own arrogant. The Lord saves his people from those arrogant man and honor His name.
They believe the Lord will deliver them from a terrible death; they do not know if he will. But come what my, they will not deny him. They do not fear.
Daniel's companions will not compromise There is only one God, and God's law forbids them to worship any other. (Exodus 20:3)
How?
The Lord save his people, his children, in His will. Even he does not, we believe it is good to us. For it is a temporary place on the earth, we will have more better place in heave. Do I have the faith to the Lord as these three men? I confess that I haven't so strong as them, may the Lord gives me more faith as them.

Faith and religious

Daniel 3:1-12
King Nebuchadnezzar made an image of gold and proclaimed "This is what you are commanded to do, as soon as you hear the sound of the horn, flute, zither, lyre, harp, pipe and all kinds of music, you must fall down and worship the image of gold." If don't will be thrown into a blazing furnace. He declared it in the dedication of the image.
At that time some astrologers came forward and denounced the Jews, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, said to king they neither serve the gods nor worship the image of gold the king has setup.
Why?
Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego were administrators over province of Babylon, so these astrologers saw they didn't worshiped the image of God. They my dislike those Jews administer them without serve their gods.
Daniel is remained at the royal court, these men feared to accuse Daniel.
This is a religious and faith issue to Babylonians and Jews. One more opportunity to show the power of the Lord and His Holy.
How?
What command are we obey is the faith in our heart, it might devote our life or all of our property. My life is belong to the Lord, so there is nothing can over the Lord. When I face the choice of the truth and false, I believe I will choose the truth. The mercy of the Lord has to much came upon me, I know He is the Lord.

Surely your God is the God of gods and the Lord of kings

Daniel 2:31-49
Daniel interpreted the dream for king, then King Nebuchadnezzar fell prostrate before Daniel and paid him honor and ordered that an offering and incense be presented to him.
The king said "Surely your God is the God of gods and the Lord of kings and a revealer of mysteries, for you were able to reveal this mystery."
A rock was cut out, but not by human hands, It struck the statue on it feet of iron and clay and smashed them. Then the iron, the clay, the bronze, the silver and the gold were broken to pieces at the same time and became like chaff on a threshing floor in the summer, Then wind swept them away without leaving a trace. But the rock that struck the statue became a huge mountain and filled the whole earth.
In the time of those kings, the God of heaven will set up a kingdom that will never be destroyed, nor will it be left to another people. It will crush all those kingdoms and bring them to an end, but it will itself endure forever.
Why?
All those kingdoms were destroyed and the Jesus was came, just as Daniel said it is a rock ,not by human hand, will become a mountain and filled the whole earth.
The kingdom of Christ is not belong to this world, but it was created by the heaven. This kingdom will fill the whole earth, then the end of the earth will come.
Until the date of the last day from Jesus was crucified and raised. This the mercy of the Lord give us more opportunity to repent and get the eternal life through Jesus.
How?
The honest servant of the Lord, not only has honor in heaven, sometime has honor in earth also. The mercy of the Lord is completely and overwhelming. IN the same time fear the authority of the Lord.

Praise be to the name of God for ever and ever; wisdom and power are his.

Daniel 2:17-30
Daniel urged his three friends to plead for mercy from the God of heaven concerning this mystery.
Daniel replied to the king, 'No one can explain to the mystery the king has asked about, but there is a God in heaven who reveals mysteries.'
The dream showed king of Babylonia what is coming to happen.
"As for me, this mystery has been revealed to me, not because I have greater wisdom than other living men, but so that you, O king, may know the interpretation and that you may understand what went through your mind."
Daniel praised the God of heaven, " Praise be to the name of God for ever and ever; wisdom and power are his. He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to the discerning. He reveals deep and hidden things; he knows what lies in darkness, and light dwells with him.
Why?
Daniel knew God has the wisdom so he urged his friend pray for mercy from the  God. Many believers prayer is more quick reach to the Lord.
Ask for Christians together to pray has the one mind and one spirit with us.
Daniel did not forget that is the Lord revealed the mystery to him, no his wise or his ability, it is the power and mercy of the power came upon him. Don't steal the honor of the Lord!
God shows what is to come through the dream, or through bible, or through prophet, or directly tell us, or some significant signs.
How?
Pray to the Lord gives me the wisdom and mercy. He is mighty God, do not forget what God has done on me.

No one can reveal it except the God

Daniel 2:1-16
King Nebuchadnezzar has dreams; his mind was troubled and he could not sleep. He summoned the magicians, enchanters, sorcerers and astrologers to tell him what he had dreamed. But the king did not tell them what he had dreamed.
The astrologers answered the king, There is not a man on earth who can do what the king asked. No one can reveal it to the king except the gods, and they do not live among men.
This made the king so angry and furious that he ordered the execution of all the wise men of Babylon.
When the commander of the king's guard, has gone out to put to death the wise men of Babylon, Daniel spoke to him with wisdom and tact. Daniel went in to the king and asked for time, so that he might interpret the dream for him.
Why?
Daniel had only just graduated when he was face with this test.
The interpretation of dreams was a well-established role of the Babylonian magicians and the rest. But anyone an come up with an interpretation, and who is to tell which is right-- so Nebuchadnezzar devises hos own test.
Daniel believe that God can reveal the dream as well as its meaning, and has the faith to pray for this.
God let Daniel has opportunity to show his wisdom and let the king of Babylon knows who is the God. God show himself though Danial for Danial revolved to obey his commands.
How?
When I face problem that not me or no one can solve it, do not forget that God can do it, my role is pray for it like Daniel.
No one can reveal it except the God

Resolved not to defile himself

Daniel 1:8-21
Daniel resolved not to defile himself with the royal food and wine, and he asked the chief official for permission not to defile himself this way. Chief official agree to test them 10 days eat vegetables and drink water. Ten days later they looked healthier and better nourished than any of the young me who ate the royal food.
God gave knowledge and understanding of all kinds of literature and learning. And Daniel could understand visions and dreams of all kinds.
In every matter of wisdom and understanding about which the king questioned them, he found them ten times better than all the magicians and enchanters in whole kingdom.
They graduate from the kings school with honors!
Why?
The royal food in Babylon were sacrificed for the gods or touched blood.
The Babylonians do not observe Jewish rules on clean and unclean good, nor do they drain away the blood when they slaughter animals.
The First year of King Cyrus is 539BC. Nebuchadnezzar attacked Jerusalem at 605BC, Daniel and others were taken hostage for the goof behavior of king Jehoiakim. Daniel remained there about 50 years.
Daniel and his friends obeyed the words of the Lord even under hostage situation. They did not trouble the official who took care them.
For Daniel and his friends expressed their faith in action, God blessed them and gave them knowledge and understanding of all kinds of literature and learning. The fountain of wisdom is the Lord.
Resolve: determine (下決心, 立志)
How?
How I resolve to obey the words of the Lord ? Can I resist all of the defile from the world? I will do my best and rely on God's power, for Spirit is within me.

Daniel: How do I choose a man

Daniel 1:1-7
The king of Babylon, Nebuchadnezzar, ordered Ahpenaz, chief of his court officials, to bring in some of the Israelite men from the royal family and the nobility - young men without any physical defect, handsome showing aptitude for every kind of learning, well informed, quick to understand and qualified to serve in the king's palace.
The king assigned them a daily amount of food and wine from the king's table. They were to be trained for three years.
Among these were some from Judah: Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah.
Israelite peoples were besieged by Babylon, they carried off the temple of God in Jerusalem and carried some people from Judah.
The main trust of the book is clear: God, the God of Israel, is sovereign ruler of the world, at all times and in all places. For his people this means one thing: total loyalty to him. No matter how powerful the opposing forces, God will in due time defeat them all.
Why?
Babylon king knew wise men in his court may help him to manage his country.
He chose not only wise but also not defect and handsome show aptitude for every kind of learning.
Daniel was a Judean exile at the court of Babylon, taken there as a boy a few years earlier than Ezekiel and the first main batch of exiles. He belonged to a noble family and was exceptionally able and intelligent. Daniel'a role in the stories which make up the first part of the book is a much that of statesman as prophet.
The literature of Babylon was one in which 'magic, sorcery charms and astrology payed  prominent part'. Daniel and co. would need the determined hold on their own faith already shown, if they were not to be caught up in things their law forbade.
The endings of the Hebrew names(-el,-iah) like them with the name of Israel's God. At least one of the new names is liked to that of a Babylonian god.
Babylonia chose servant form they outside looking and ability of learning. God chooses servant with love, no like man, God looks man's heart.
How?
How do I look a man, first might from the appearing from outside, more important is to know his heart and mind. So as me, how people look at me? Is a Christ-like life in me?

Greeting with Love and peace

2 Corinthians 13:11-14
Paul' final greetings.
Aim for perfection, listen to my appeal, be of one mind, live in peace.
The God of love and peace will be with you.
Greet on another with a holy kiss.
May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.
After last-minute instructions, and farewell, Paul closes with the lovely words of the grace.
Why?
Aim for perfection:  get rid of all sins and do a best follower of Jesus with all our   mind, strength and heart.
Listen to Paul's appeal, and listen to the words of the Lord.
Be of one mind: in Christ Jesus, same Holy Spirit, without partiality.
Live in peace: don't quarrel, don't argue for our own benefit but for the truth and be a counselor make people peace.
Greet with Holy Kiss: sincerely treat each other
Final greeting usually be used as final blessing after church's congregation.
Love and peace is important for everyone of us.
How?
What is my aim for? to be a perfection in present of the Lord. May my life have love and peace and deliver love and peace of Jesus Christ to others

Examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith; test yourselves

2 Corinthian 13:1-10
Paul taught Corinth not only with love but also with authority -the authority the Lord gave him for building them up, not for tearing them down.
Paul third time return he will not spare those who sinned earlier or any of the others.
Because they were demanding proof that Christ is speaking through Paul. For to be sure , Jesus was crucified in weakness, yet he lives by God's power. Likewise, we are weak in him, by God's power we will live with him to serve Corinth's.
Examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith; test yourselves.
Do you not realize that Christ Jesus is in you - unless, of course, you fail the test.
Paul said, "We do what is right even though we may seem to have failed. For we cannot do anything against the truth, but only for the truth."
Why?
No only teaching and praying for those people. After teaching with the truth, next step need the authority to build them up, the authority is not allow abused.
Jesus was crucified in weakness, from perspective of man, it may seem weakness, but it is brave and with power of faith in God.
Paul calls them to put things right before he comes, so that when he does he may not have to call them to order with harsh discipline.
To be a teacher do the right and teaches with the truth to affect his student or disciples, sometime harsh discipline is needed.
Men see us seems weak, but in Jesus Christ we will with him by God's power. Christians are not weakness but stronger, we insist the truth, but humble ourselves in present of the Lord to treat others.
Our faith need to be tested. No test we don't know how our faith is.
How?
Examine myself to see whether I am in the faith? And test myself.

Good shepherd loves his sheep as a father loves his children

2 Corinthians 12:11-21
I have made a fool of myself, but you drove me to it. I ought to have been commended by you, for I am not in the least inferior to the "Super-apostle", even though I am nothing.
How were you inferior to the other churches, except that I was never burden to you? Forgive me this wrong!
Paul planed visit Corinth third times, he still not be a burden to them. Because what he want is not their possession but their heart.
Paul treated them like his own children.
Paul wondered "If I love you more, will you love me less?"
Someone said Paul is a crafty fellow, he caught them by trickery! Paul explain it and query did they exploit Corinth any?
What Paul has been speaking in the sight of God as those in Christ, and everything whey do, is for Corinth's strengthening.
Paul was afraid that when he comes again they did not repent for their sin and he hope God make him before them.
Why?
In the face of typical 'Corinthians' sins: sexual promiscuity, bitter quarrels and disorder. So he calls them to put things right before he comes, so that when he does he may not have call them to order with harsh discipline.
Paul taught Corinthians with love like his children, do not give burden to them but  help them, hope them could be repented and turned to the Lord.
How?
To be a good shepherd is treating and teaching his sheep with love and sincere.
So as to be a father should treat his daughter with love and caring.

My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness

2 Corinthians 11:32-12:10
Although there is nothing to be gained, Paul must go on boasting, he was going on to visions and revelations from the Lord.
Paul have been caught up to the third heaven and to paradise. He hear expressible things, things that man is not permitted to tell.
Even Paul should choose to boast, he is not boat about himself, except about his weakness. Because he is speaking the truth. If Paul refrain, so no one will think more of he than is warranted by what he does or say. ( But I won't do it, because I don't want anyone to give me credit beyond what they can see in my life or hear in my message.)
Satan gave Paul a thorn in his fresh. Paul three time pleaded with the Lord to take it away. But the Lord said to him, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." There he will boast all the mire gladly about his weakness, so that Christ's power may rest on me. When I am weak, then I am strong.
Why?
Paul is not lack anything of the qualities of true apostleship.
We know of three early visions from Acts; on the Damascus road; at the house of Judas(9:22-25); and in the Temple at Jerusalem(22:17)
A man in Christ: A Christian. Paul is peaking of himself. 'Fourteen years ago', six or seven years after Paul's conversion, but before the great Gentile missions.
The 'third heaven' is a Jewish expression meaning to be actually in presence of God. Paul is describing the most sublime experience imaginable.
A Thorn in flesh; This may be some physical illness or a reference to the unremitting opposition he encountered. It was a constant source of pain ad depression.
Paul has experienced the living God and the truth from the Lord. He has to preach the gospel not matter what situation is, it is the mission from God. He is living in fresh, but Paul knows the future so he dear to do what he should do. In flesh Paul is weakness, but for the Holy Spirit is with hem he can do more miraculous signs in his works.
How?
Dear Lord, I hope I may experience the fellowship of Holy Spirit, encourage me to do the right thing and gives me the wisdom of Spirit to transform my life.
Appreciated that the Grace of God is sufficient for me, for God's power is made perfect in my weakness.

Boasts about the sufferings for Jesus Christ

2 Corinthians 11:16-31
Let no one take me for a fool. But if you do, then receive me just as you would a fool, so that I may do a little boasting.
Paul his self-confident boasting is not talking as the Lord would, but as a fool. Since many are boating in the way the world does, he too will boast. You gladly put up with fool since you are so wise.
To my shame I admit that we were too weak for that!
For the personal identity Paul has equal right as others,  What anyone else dares to boast about- I am speaking as a fool- I also dare to boast about.
Paul suffered many mistreated, dismay, many dangers and worked more harder. Besides everything else, he faces daily the pressure of his concern for all the churches. Who is weak, and I do not feel weak? Who is led into sin, and I do not inwardly burn? Expressing Paul is normal man who worked hard for the gospel and suffer many dangers like a fool from the world's perspective.
Paul said if he must boast, he will boast of the things that show his weakness The God and Father of the Lord Jesus, who is to be praised forever, knows that I am not lying.
Why?
Paul said Corinth can accepted the false apostle's(fool) teaching and put up them, likewise they can receive Paul as a fool. This is a parable.
Many false apostles were boast themselves, then Paul can boast for himself. Even though those false apostles got money and property from Corinth, treated them like slaves, they could put up. Paul feel shamed that he could not do as they did, so he said he is too weak. All these are irony speaking.
Paul was worried about churches and concerning the life of the believers only. He did't care about his own profits.
As for earning his own living, he was concerned that no one should think him a sponger(a person who habitually borrows or lives at the expense of others; parasite.), and anxious not to burden them.
How?
To be an Jesus apostle, what Paul had did is the requirement. How wonderful Paul forsake himself followed the Jesus Christ. His weakness shows the Glory of the Lord.
Suffering for the gospel and the Lord is worthy. The Lord is my fortress and my savior. All of these is based on the love of Jesus Christ and the Lord.

Made perfectly clear in every way

2 Corinthians 11:1-15
Paul continue explain his love to Corinth and his knowledge. He does not think he is in he least inferior to those "Super-apostles". He  may not be a trained speaker, but he does have knowledge. He has made perfectly clear to them in every way.
Paul afraid that just as Eve was deceived by the serpents cunning(狡猾), Corinth's minds may somehow be led astray from their sincere ad pure devotion to Christ. Be care of someone comes to and preaches a Jesus other than the Jesus we preached.
As surely as the truth of Christ is in me, nobody in the regions of Achaia will stop this boasting of mine. God knows I do love you.
Such false apostles, deceitful workmen, masquerading as apostles of Christ. And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light.
Why?
Paul is not a second-rate apostle. Paul insistence on earning his own living underlines this.
Made perfectly is more important than good speaker. Paul in the wisdom of the Lord, he is good speaker to preach gospel.
There is one Jesus, one Holy Spirit and One God. Don't be deceived by the false teaching.
False teaching and false apostles are exist in this generation.
Paul do everything perfectly clear to prevent from those who want an opportunity to be considered equal with them in the things they boast about.
Super-apostles are the twelve apostles followed Jesus. Paul has received the Spirit and the light of God shone upon him. Paul did many miracles.
How?
As surely as the truth of Christ is in me, I will made perfectly clear in every way.

Boast in the Lord

2 Corinthians 10:1-18
Paul is "timid" when face to face with them, but "bold" when away!
Paul begs them when he comes he may not have to be as bold as he expect to be toward some people who think that Paul live by the standards of this world.
We live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does, The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds.
If anyone is confident that he belongs to Christ, he should consider again that we belong to Christ just as much as he.
People should realize that what we are in our letters when we are absent we will be in our actions when we are present.
When they measure themselves by themselves and compare themselves with themselves, they are not wise.
"Let him who boasts boast in the Lord". For it is not the one who commends himself who is approved, but the one whom the Lord commends.
Why?
Comparison among people is not wise, we boast should in the Lord, for we boast for the one whom the Lord commends am be approved by the Lord. Human's honor is temporary and nothing.
Paul turns his attention to the hostile minority at Corinth who have challenged his authority and criticized his behavior.
They have attacked Paul on a number of counts:
1)He may be a brave letter-writer, but meet him face to face and he's coward.
2)He is a second-rate apostle
Paul answers every charge, showing the hollowness of their standards of judgement:
1)When he comes, they will discover he is as ready to act as the is to write: but he would much rather use his authority to build up the church.
2)Their boasting counts for nothing: it is God's commendation which is all important.
3)Apostles does not consist in oratory and lording it over the church(Chap11)
How?
Don't measure me with others, for I am the servant of the Lord, I am doing the commends of the Lord. Always humble myself but I boast in the Lord, I have the authority from God, I am not coward or week as this world.

God loves a cheerful giver

2 Corinthians 9:1-15
Paul thought it necessary to urge the brothers to visit Corinthians  in advance and finish the generous gift they had promised. Then it will be ready as a generous gift, not as one grudgingly given.
Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously.
Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.
This service by which you have provided yourselves, men will praise God for the obedience that accompanies your confession of the gospel of Christ, and for your generosity in sharing with them and with everyone else.
Why?
Paul has told Macedonians that who in Achaia were ready to give for one year. So he urge men to Corinthian for preparing.
God is full of grace, is able to make all grace abound to us while we doing the good work.
The Jerusalem church seems to have been in financial trouble almost from the start, probably because the break with Judaism cut converts off from their families and often cost them their jobs. Paul was quick to encourage the Gentile churches in Galatia, Macedonia and Corinth to help their Jewish fellow Christian. By doing so they would learn the duty and blessing of systematic Christian giving, and at the same time show their appreciation of what they owed the Jewish parent-church.
Christian giving is a loving response to the self-giving of the Lord Jesus.
Those with more than they need will make up the incomes of those with too little, so that all have enough.
How?
To be a cheerful giver, and response the love of Lord Christ to me.

An representative of churches and an honor of Christ

2 Corinthians 8:16-24
Titus not only welcomed Paul's appeal, but his is coming to Corinthian with much enthusiasm and on his own initiative.
We are sending with them our brother who has often proved to us in many ways that he is zealous, and now even more so because of his great confidence in you.
Titus has the same concern Paul has for Corinth.
Paul they are taking pains to do what is right, not only in the eyes of the Lord but also in the eyes of men.
They are representatives of the churches and an honor to Christ.
Paul asked Corinth show these men the proof of their love and the reason for Paul pride in them.
Why?
Serve the Lord not only for the commandment of God or church's appeal, but more enthusiasm and our own initiative.
Do what is right, not only in the eyes of the Lord but also in the eyes of men, which took Paul pains. It is very hard to complete it. But this is the real follower of Jesus.
All we Christians should be representatives of the churches and an honor to Christ is our objective, so we have to do the right things. No matter people sees us or not, the Lord will knows.
Show our love to other Christians for they are working for the Lord, who is the angle form God.
Church chooses the right men to serve others outside church.
How?
I need more enthusiasm and zealous to complete the mission of the Lord.
Do the right things for I am an representative of churches and an honor of Christ.

you through his poverty might become rich

2 Corinthians 8:1-15
Out of the most severe trial, their overflowing joy and their extreme poverty welled up in rich generosity. Paul told them about the grace that God has given the Macedonians churches.
Paul wanted to test the sincerity of your love by comparing it with the earnestness of others.
You know the generosity(grace) of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sake he became poor, so that you through his poverty might become rich.
If the willingness is there, the gift is acceptable according to what one has, not according to what he does not have.
"He who gathered much did not have too much, an he who gathered little did not have too little". Our desire is not that others might be relieved while you are hard pressed, but that there might be equality.
Why?
Jesus Christ is rich, he came down to the earth to be a poor, let us may close to him, believed in him, we may know the Lord and get the grace of God, become rich. That is the reason for his poverty might become rich. Some times it is property rich for the blessing, more is the peace of the blessing.
Now that confidence is restored, it is possible to raise the matter of the relief fund for the poor in Jerusalem. Titus had helped the Corinthians make a start, following Paul's instructions in his earlier letter. Now he is return and supervise the completion of the collection.
Macedonia included Philippi, Thessalonica and Beroea. Harsh treatment form the Romans and a succession of civil wars had impoverished the province, and the persecuted Christians must have been worse off than most.
Generosity is according to what he has, do not compare it with others. The willingness is more important matter.
How?
Following what Jesus did, he was rich, for our sake he became poverty, let us might become rich through his poverty. So as through my generosity let others may become rich and know the grace of God. Do it not for me but for the sake of  love of Jesus Christ.

God's sorrow leads to repentance and justice done

2 Corinthians 7:8-16
Paul wrote last letter to Corinth caused them sorrow, he does not regret it, even though he did regret it. because their sorrow led them to repentance.
Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation and leaves to regret, but worldly sorrow brings death.
Godly sorrow has produced in you: what earnestness, what readiness to clear yourselves, what indignation, what alarm, what longing, what concern, what readiness to see justice done.
Paul was delighted and boasted about them to see how happy Titus was , because Titus spirit has been refreshed by all of you.
Titus is able to set Paul's mind at rest. The Corinthians' reaction to his letter is all he could have hoped. The result has been entirely good. The apostle's relief and joy are overwhelming His faith in them has been completely vindicated.
Why?
Paul let Corinthians reaction were good repentance after he wrote the 1st letter, so he was boasted to them.
Godly repentance is an procession with different stages, the result is salvation and regret, save people from dead to eternal life.
Worldly sorrow are worry about the argument, money, their property, their deceases, loved one pass away, etc. They have no hope, so it brings death.
How?
Walk in God's way, even sorrow is Godly sorrow bring us repentance and clear ourselves, let the justice done.
Meditate God's words and remind myself if there are anything against the words or mind of God, then confess it and turn away from that.

To be a comforter to weakness

2 Corinthians 7:1-7
Since we have these promises, dear friends, let us purify ourselves from spirit, perfecting holiness out of reverence for God. The promise of God will be our father described in 6:17-18
Paul has great confident in Corinth and takes great pride in them. He is greatly encouraged; in all their troubles his joy knows no bounds.
When Paul suffered distress in Macedonia - conflicts on the outside, fears within. But God, who comforts the downcast, comforted by the coming of Titus, and also by the comfort of Corinth has given him.
Why?
The promise includes a condition - come out from them and be separate, touch no unclean thing. Don't do evil thing or touch unclean thing. Even touch it is forbidden. Little evil mind like yeast will be enlarged for our weakness.
The comfort of God comes from people as Titus and Corinth Church send the ardent concern and deep sorrow, comfort in spiritual. Titus's coming let Paul rest in his heart.
Holy Spirit is the comforter of us comes from God.
How?
When anyone under distress or trouble, I should show my ardent concern and love to comfort them. People needs comfort to encourage their strength and joy. We should love each other and comfort each other in Jesus Christ, we are the brothers and sisters.

We are the temple of the living God

2 Corinthians 6:1-18
Paul urged us not to receive God's grace in vain. For he says, "In the tie of my favor I heard you, and in the day of salvation I helped you." Now is the time of God's favor, now is the day of salvation.
Paul they put no stumbling block in anyone's path, so that our ministry will not be discredited. Rather, as servants of God we commend ourselves in every way...
Having nothing and yet possessing everything. Paul's feelings are deeply and stirred. He longs for the Corinthians to match his own complete open-heartedness towards them.
Paul said to Corinth as a fair exchange- I speak as to my children-open wide your hearts also.
Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. There is not in common, not harmony between believer and unbeliever. What agreement is there between the temple of God and idols? For we are the temple of the living God.
God said:" I will live with the and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they will be my people." "Therefore come out from them and be separate." says the Lord.
This issue is the same as in 1 Corinthians 8-10. It is clearly his earlier letter had not resolved some of these issues
Why?
The change of tone at 6:14 is abrupt but there is no evidence that this section has been misplaced. He has warned them before of the dangers of compromise with the pagan world.
Come to Jesus and listen to his words now is right time. When the Day is come the door of salvation will be closed.
Sincerely to the Lord and among church's believers.
We are the temple of the living God, so we have to separate from them. We do something and don't do something. Let God's grace and rightness shown on us.
How?
Remember who I am, I am the temple of living God. Holding the right thing and keep away the evil.
And put no stumbling block in anyone's path to Jesus, repent and check my behavior carefully everyday.

If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation

2 Corinthians 5:11-21
Since we know what it is to fear the Lord, we try to persuade men.
If we are out of our mind, it is or the sake of God; if we are in our right mind, it is for you. God Christ's love compels us, because we are convinced that one died for all, and therefore all died. And he died for all that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raise again.
So from now on we regard no one from a worldly point of view.
If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come.
All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation. We are therefore Christ's ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us.
Be reconciled to God.
Why?
All Paul did seems out of mind is for the sake of God, if did in right mind is for the sake for you. Paul devote his life not for his own benefit.
The power and motivation are come from Christ's love. Learned and intimated from the love of Jesus Christ.
If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; It is familiar to every Christian, but meditate it more, we will find we still have many old me in it. How weak I am.
For us, first, be reconciled to God, then be a ministry of reconciliation to men. God who reconciled us to him through. It is the Lord loves us first.
To be an ambassador of Christ, should show us like Christ and has the behavior of Jesus, let people know what is the truth life in Christ, attracting people come to Jesus.
How?
Dear Lord please forgive me, I have many old me and unclean mind in me, please help me get rid of it, let me be a new creation.
Don't forget I am ambassador of  Christ to do the ministry of reconciliation. The motivation is for the Love from God.

Our goal is to please him

2 Corinthians 5:1-10
We are longing to be clothed with our heavenly dwelling and an eternal house in heaven, not built by human hands.
We do not wish to be unclothed but to be clothed with our heavenly dwelling, so that what is mortal may be swallowed up by life.
It is God who has made us for this very purpose and has given us the Spirit as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come.
We live by faith, not by sight. We are confident, and would prefer to be away from the body and at him with the Lord. So we make it our goal to please him, whether we are at home in the body or away from it.
The purpose of God made us for we could be clothed with heavenly dwelling, those mortal body and materials will be swallowed up by life.
Why?
Weight the cost of discipleship, incredible though it seems, against the 'eternal weight of glory' being made ready for Christ's faithful followers and you have the true balance of things.
Tent: our physical body Paul uses an ordinary Greek expression, which at the same time reminds us of the body's impermanence.
Live by faith, not by sight: this is the life of faith.
How?
All of the earth belongs are mortal may be destroyed. My house in Taiwan, my phones , computer, and my physical body will pass away. What I have to pursue in my life is to please the Lord.
Recently I faced many difficulties, I should have faith that the Lord will supports me.

Carrying around in our body the death of Jesus

2 Corinthians 4:7-18
The treasure in our boy, jar of clay, show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us.
We always carry around in our body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may be revealed in our body. So then, death is at work in us, but life is at work in you.
All this is for your benefit, for that the grace that is reaching more and more people my cause thanksgiving to overflow to the glory of God.
Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. We fix out eyes on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.
Why?
Out life has the life of Jesus so we are living like water soft, but strengthened by the Lord Jesus.
All of the persecution and distress is light and temporary compare with our eternal glory. Paul suffer those persecution and gives faith and thanksgiving to the  Lord, so that Paul said it is for your benefit, it is an good witness to all Christians.
Paul is subjected to every kind of human weakness, persecution and suffering.
But the future, in all its glorious certainty, eclipses any suffering the present can hold.
If Paul is picturing the Roman triumphal procession, earthenware pots deliberately chosen as a foil to the magnificent treasures inside.
How?
Carry around in our body the death of Jesus, so that I don't afraid any trouble and distress, let the life of Jesus be revealed in my body.
Our faith is eternal glory.

Shine on me to give us light of knowledge of the glory of God

2 Corinthians 4:1-6
We have this ministry is through God's mercy, we do not lose heart.- do not frustrate.
We have renounced secret and shameful ways; we do no use deception, nor do we distort the word of God. On the contrary, by setting forth the truth plainly we commend ourselves to every man's conscience in the sight of God.
We preach gospel is not preach ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord.
The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ.
"Light shine out of darkness" made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ.
Why?
Ministry of God is God's mercy and missionary from the Lord, so do not lose heart when face trouble or distress.
Preach gospel by forth the truth plainly, no deception or distort the words of God to delight man.
Most men do not believe our God because their heart are blinded by their god in this age. So we do not frustrated when they don't believe in us.
We do good witness, but preach Jesus Christ as Lord only, we are the servant of the Lord. Honor His name.
How?
Jesus is the light, shine out of the darkness, made his light shine in my heart to give us light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ.
How to get it? Do my best with all my soul, all my heart, all my mind and my strength to follow Jesus Christ.

Transformed into his likeness with ever-increasing glory

2 Corinthians 3:1-18
You yourselves are our letter written on our hearts, known and read by everybody. You show that you are a letter from Christ, the result of our ministry, written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human heats.
Our competence comes from God. He has made us competent as ministers of a new covenant- not of the letter bur of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.
Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.
Their minds were made dull, for to this day the same veil remains when the old covenant is read It has not been removed, because only in Christ is it taken away.
We are being transformed into his likeness with ever-increasing glory which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.
Why?
As for the past, the old covenant has been replaced by a new life-giving one. The present is an anomaly: on the one hand the apostle is appointed ambassador of God himself, charged with his amazing message to humanity.
In the early days, Christians moving to a new town often took with them such letters from the old church to the new. Paul has no need of such a letter- the very existence of the Corinthian church is sufficient testimony.
Paul's competence comes from God- the Spirit of God.
Letter kills, but the Spirit give life: let us know the truth, lead us know the Christ.
Where spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom, don't be limited by the letters of Old covenant. Understand the truth of the Bible let us have real freedom.
Through Christ we may face to face talk to the Lord, the veil is remove.
Our life need to be transformed into Jesus likeness with every-increasing glory which comes from the Spirit of the Lord.
How?
Accept Jesus as our savior and the the Spirit of the Lord will come upon me, my life, my mind change, transforming into Jesus likeness, the glory of the Lord will show up. Most important power is from the Spirit of the Lord.
My life need to be transform into Jesus likeness.

The aroma of Christ

2 Corinthians 2:1-17
Paul said he wrote them out of great distress and anguish of heart and with many tears, not to grieve you but to let you know the depth of my love for you.
You ought to forgive and comfort who has caused grief- not to put it too severely. To reaffirm your love for him. If you forgive anyone,I also forgive him. In order that Satan might not outwit us.
Spread everywhere the fragrance of the knowledge of him. For we are to God the aroma of Christ among those who are being saved and those who are perishing.
To the one we are the smell of death; to the other, we are the fragrance of life. Who is equal to such a task?
Unlike so many, we do not peddle the word of God for profit. On the contrary, in Christ we speak before God with sincerity, like men sent from God.
Why?
Paul wrote letter to Corinth with depth of his love for them.
Forgive is the action of love, it is the weapon of Christian, but Paul has pointed out what make him grief.
The trouble seems to have been personal antagonism to Paul on the part of one man. Now that the church has dealt with him, Paul urges his forgiveness.
Paul sees himself as Christ's slave being led around the empire in his triumphal march. For the captives, the smell of incense had the scent of death about it, as the aroma of Christ does for Paul.
The aroma of Christ we spread is not from the world but from the knowledge of God. Someone like it, someone don't like it.
Who is equal to such a task? A real Christian is impossible let all people like us, good to whom is the power of the Spirit of God.
How?
When I am getting older, I should bearing more fragrance in Christ instead of old man's stink, let people come to Christ because of my behavior and my aroma of Christ.
