Daniel 5:1-12
King Belshazzar gave a great banquet for a thousand of this nobles and drank win with them. While Belshazzar was drinking his wine, he gave orders to bring in the gold and silver goblets that Nebuchadnezzar his father has taken from the temple in Jerusalem.
As they drank the wine, they praised the gods of gold and silver, of bronze, iron, wood and stone.
Suddenly the fingers of a human hand appeared and wrote on the plaster of the wall, ear the lampstand in the royal palace.
All the king's wise men came in, but they could not read the writing or tell the king what it meant.
King said if anyone can interpret it will be made the third highest ruler in the kingdom.
The queen, hearing the voice of the king and his nobles, came into the banquet hall, recommended king, there is a man in your kingdom who has the spirit of the holy god in him. He will tell you what the writing means. This man is Daniel.
Why?
Strictly speaking, Nabonidus was the last king of Babylon. But he retired to Arabia early in his reign leaving his son Belshazzar acting king in Babylon. Hence the fact that Daniel could be made only 'third ruler.'
The date is 530BC, 23 years after Nebuchadnezzar's death.
The wive of Belshazzar were there already, this Queen may have been the queen mother, Nebuchadnezzar's widow.
King Belshazzar blasphemed the God to use the goblet in God's temple in Jerusalem.
Daniel is the served in Babylon, he is the chief of the wise men. For God's spirit in him.
How?
Has the spirit of the holy God is essential to a follower of Jesus Christ. May the wisdom of the Holy Spirit within me and leads my way forward.
