Fear the Lord and serve him faithfully with all your heart

1 Samuel 12:1-25
If I have done any of these, I will make it right.
Samuel said to them, "The Lord is witness against you, and also his anointed is witness this day, that you have not found anything in my hand.
“But when you saw that Nahash king of the Ammonites was moving against you, you said to me, No, we want a king to rule over us’—even though the Lord your God was your king. Now here is the king you have chosen, the one you asked for; see, the Lord has set a king over you.
But be sure to fear the Lord and serve him faithfully with all your heart; consider what great things he has done for you. Yet if you persist in doing evil, both you and your king will perish.”
This farewell speech marks the end of the rule of the judges. Samuel has always been alert to the dangers of the monarchy. Politically the move to choose a king was no doubt wise. Religiously, it was a step in the wrong direction, a step away from the idea of God alone as Israel's king. And Samuel does not mince his words: if God ceases to be King for his people, both nation and monarchy will be swept away. But, come what may, this old man of God will od as he has always done" pray for the people and teach them what is right.
Why?
Samuel is old and he told and warned his people to fear the Lord and serve the Lord with all your heart. This is the right way to live.
If they turn from the Lord to idols or others will perish.
Samuel still pray for his people, so pray is important to every Christian.
The Lord is my king, no matter what this world is changing.
How?
Jesus Christ is my savior, The Lord is my king, I am His servant.
