1 Samuel 2:1-10
Then Hannah prayed and said: My heart rejoices in the Lord; in the Lord, my horn is lifted high. My mouth boasts over my enemies, for I delight in your deliverance.
There is no one holy like the Lord; there is no one besides you; there is no Rock like our God.
The Lord brings death and makes alive; he brings down to the grave and raises up.
He raises the poor from the dust and lifts the needy from the ash heap; he seats them with princes and has them inherit a throne of honor.
For the foundations of the earth are the Lord’s; on them, he has set the world.
It is not by strength that one prevails; those who oppose the Lord will be broken.
Hannah's song: Hannah'song is echoed by Mary in the New Testament. In the small mirror of her own experience, Hannah sees reflected all the wonder of God's character. God has reversed her fortunes. Peninnah's taunts have been silenced. Emptiness, misery, shame are gone" in their place is life, joy, honor. And what God can do for one, he can and will do for all his people.
Why?
To a Christian's life should be life, joy, honor.
No one holy like the Lord, no one besides our God, there is no Rock like our God.
He raises the poor from the dust and lifts the needy from the ash heap. What I have is God's gift and grace to me.
None by the strength that one prevails, but be humble before the Lord will be raised.
How?
Give thanks to the Lord, give honor to God and keep the joy in my heart for God is my salvation and Rock.
