She named him Moses, saying, “I drew him out of the water.

 Exodus 2:1-10

Now a man of the tribe of Levi married a Levite woman, and she became pregnant and gave birth to a son. When she saw that he was a fine child, she hid him for three months. But when she could hide him no longer, she got a papyrus basket for him and coated it with tar and pitch. Then she placed the child in it and put it among the reeds along the bank of the Nile. His sister stood at a distance to see what would happen to him.

Then Pharaoh’s daughter went down to the Nile to bathe, and her attendants were walking along the riverbank. She saw the basket among the reeds and sent her female slave to get it. She opened it and saw the baby. He was crying, and she felt sorry for him. “This is one of the Hebrew babies,” she said. 

Then his sister asked Pharaoh’s daughter, “Shall I go and get one of the Hebrew women to nurse the baby for you?” “Yes, go,” she answered. So the girl went and got the baby’s mother. Pharaoh’s daughter said to her, “Take this baby and nurse him for me, and I will pay you.” So the woman took the baby and nursed him. When the child grew older, she took him to Pharaoh’s daughter and he became her son. She named him Moses, saying, “I drew him out of the water.”

So now all Hebrew boy-babies are to be thrown into the Nile. That is Pharaoh's decree. But the water which drowns can also be used to float a watertight basket - and Moses' life is saved by his mother's resourceful action.

Why?

For the mercy and plan of the Lord, so baby Moses was saved by Pharaoh's daughter. And there is good timing to meet baby Moses.

Moses' mother has the wisdom to save her baby. It is a wonderful consequence which is arranged by the Lord underground.

Moses is saying, 'I drew him out of the water'. It is amazing miracle.

希伯來人第三個災難，這巧計也被3個女人破壞了，最重要的是被法老的女兒破壞了。

整個過程有神的保護在其中，否則很容易就破功了。在當時的希伯來人住的環境，如何藏三個月?是很困難的。莆草箱，是方舟的相同字，也就是摩西放在方舟中同樣含義，沒有沈下去，沒有被人發現、沒有被其他野獸干擾。法老女兒來河邊洗澡，應該是一種宗教儀式。剛好看到這個箱子，法老女兒帶頭違抗父親的旨意，收養了摩西。乳養自己的孩子，還有薪水可以領。合法留下自己的孩子，神的祝福大到我們無法想像的。法老要滅掉的人，卻可以進而皇宮去栽培。這個授謀最後大大失敗，神用人的抵擋成就神的旨意。法老被自己的巧計出賣了，這事的發展全在神的手中。不要推測神會做什麼?我們只要安靜，等候神行大事。
