Jesus will proclaim peace to the nations. His rule will extend from sea to sea

Zechariah 9:1-17

A mongrel people will occupy Ashdod, and I will put an end to the pride of the Philistines. 

But I will encamp at my temple to guard it against marauding forces. Never again will an oppressor overrun my people, for now I am keeping watch.

Rejoice greatly, Daughter Zion! Shout, Daughter Jerusalem! See, your king comes to you, righteous and victorious, lowly and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey.

He will proclaim peace to the nations. His rule will extend from sea to sea and from the River to the ends of the earth.

Then the Lord will appear over them; his arrow will flash like lightning. The Sovereign Lord will sound the trumpet; he will march in the storms of the south, and the Lord Almighty will shield them.

Chapter 9 pictures God's conquest and the joyous arrival of the Messiah to claim the land. He comes riding a donkey to inaugurate a rule of peace. All Israel's old enemies fall before him. There will be no more oppression. The Philistines will be absorbed into Israel, as the Jebusites from whom David captured the city of Jerusalem had been long before. The Jewish captives will be released, and Israel's military power will equal even that of rising Greece. God is his people's protection and salvation.

Why?

The Lord will be their God, never again will an oppressor overrun God's people.

Jesus Chris will come and riding on a donkey, this sign is shown before Jesus coming.

The enemies of Philistine will be melt into Israel like Jebusites in David.

Jesus is the king who proclaims peace to the nations. His rule extends from sea to sea to the whole world.

九章起講彌賽亞及國度來臨的預言。

v1-8:來臨前列國要伏在神面前。從北部內陸地方到沿海的各國，都要伏服在神的權勢下。即使推羅有強大經濟、權柄、軍事力量都要害怕神。非利士人看到像推羅這麼強的城邦都如此下場，因此害怕，都要被神打敗。經濟、軍事實力無法給人盼望。最後他們都歸服神的名下。

v9-10: 彌賽亞來臨前如何取得這些國。彌賽亞是用和平的方法，錫安的王不是征服者，壓迫者的角色。不是用武力征服人。用公義和拯救來得人，得國。

騎驢如何打仗? 是用愛來得人心，賞賜恩典、福氣。放下權柄得到尊榮、地位。

v11-17: 彌賽亞使列國降服在其他，有更多得著。1)得釋放，救出坑中，從在罪中被壓迫，不再害怕。2)得勝。不再被仇敵追趕。踩踏仇敵。3)得尊榮，榮耀。

放下自己，讓神征服我，得勝，得尊榮。
