There in the basket sat a woman

Zechariah 5:1-11

There before me was a flying scrollAnd he said to me, “This is the curse that is going out over the whole land; for according to what it says on one side, every thief will be banished, and according to what it says on the other, everyone who swears falsely will be banished.

He replied, “It is a basket.” And he added, “This is the iniquity of the people throughout the land.”

Then the cover of lead was raised, and there in the basket sat a woman! He said, “This is wickedness,” and he pushed her back into the basket and pushed its lead cover down on it.

He replied, “To the country of Babylonia(Sinar) to build a house for it. When the house is ready, the basket will be set there in its place.”

The enormous scroll comes from God and represents his law. It is inscribed with a curse on all who have disobeyed it and broken the covenant agreement with him. The seventh and the third commandments, specifically mentioned in v3, stand for the whole law. God's word carries with it the power of punishment; evil is dealt with.

Zechariah now sees an outsize basket like those for measuring grain in which all this wickedness is contained. God's angel ensures that no evil can escape. All of it is carried off on strong wings, far away to the east: to Babylon, the land of the exile. The cleansing is complete.

Why?

God has written all the names of the evil men, will be banished.

The basket carries the iniquity of the people throughout the land. All of the evil will carryed to the country of Babylon, to the land of the exile.

Jesus Christ will erase all of our sins from the world.

How?

No one can escape from the day of judgment. God is working so we have to work either with the Lord.
