I choose the appointed time; it is I who judge with equity

Psalm 75:1-10

We praise you, God, we praise you, for your Name is near; people tell of your wonderful deeds. You say, “I choose the appointed time; it is I who judge with equity. When the earth and all its people quake, it is I who hold its pillars firm. To the arrogant I say, ‘Boast no more,’ and to the wicked, ‘Do not lift up your horns. Do not lift your horns against heaven; do not speak so defiantly.’”

No one from the east or the west or from the desert can exalt themselves. It is God who judges: He brings one down, he exalts another. In the hand of the Lord is a cup full of foaming wine mixed with spices; he pours it out, and all the wicked of the earth drink it down to its very dregs.

As for me, I will declare this forever; I will sing praise to the God of Jacob, who says, “I will cut off the horns of all the wicked, but the horns of the righteous will be lifted up.”

Israel rejoices in God's sovereign justice. He alone has the power to judge all people.

Why?

God has the sovereign justice and time to judge. No one can boast of himself.

The Lord will judge all of the people and He lifts up one and brings one down!

神宣告祂是唯一的審判者，曾立了地的柱子，表示很穩定，我們看到惡人所行的懼怕喪膽，神必審判。不要以為自己掌握大權、高位而得意。人算不如天算，天算不如神算。神可以使人降低，也使人升高！到了所定的日期，審判就會臨到，地上的惡人必要喝這些加摻雜的酒，這也是他們喜愛喝的。最後義人的角被高舉，惡人的角被砍斷。我們以為我們比神公義，以為我們的時間比神清楚，其實神做事超過我們所知道的。我們常想做神的證謀士，不知不覺也成為驕傲的人。

我們羨慕的是什麼?我們身處卑下地位，卻是義人，可以嗎？跟隨神的人就是義人，神在乎我們是否緊緊跟隨神，以神的想法為自己的想法，雖然我們有時也不完全！
