Through the offspring the Lord gives you by this young woman, may your family be like that of Perez, whom Tamar bore to Judah

 Ruth 4:1-22

Meanwhile Boaz went up to the town gate and sat down there just as the guardian-redeemer he had mentioned came along. Boaz said, “Come over here, my friend, and sit down.” So he went over and sat down.

At this, the guardian-redeemer said, “Then I cannot redeem it because I might endanger my own estate. You redeem it yourself. I cannot do it.”

So the guardian-redeemer said to Boaz, “Buy it yourself.” And he removed his sandal.

Then the elders and all the people at the gate said, “We are witnesses. May the Lord make the woman who is coming into your home like Rachel and Leah, who together built up the family of Israel. May you have standing in Ephrathah and be famous in Bethlehem. Through the offspring the Lord gives you by this young woman, may your family be like that of Perez, whom Tamar bore to Judah.”

Then Naomi took the child in her arms and cared for him. The women living there said, “Naomi has a son!” And they named him Obed. He was the father of Jesse, the father of David.

The city gate was the place for important assembly. It was also the place where legal business could be publicly transacted, as here. Ten 'elders' made up a proper court which could decide leal matters.

In addition to his obligation to raise an heir to carry on the dead man's name, the next of kin also had to buy his land, to keep it in the family. Boaz discusses the land first, then the widow. The kinsman would have bought the land to add to his own inheritance. But when he hears it will in fact go to Ruth and her son, and that he will have Ruth to provide for, he declares himself unable to purchase.

This is a real happy-ever-after ending to the story which began so bleakly. Boaz fulfills his own prayer. The good wishes of the elders are realized. God rewards Ruth with the gift of a husband and a son. And Naomi finds solace for her grief in this grandson.

Why?

The Lord reward Ruth with her faithfulness and her mercy to take care of her mother-in-law. Her good deed and faith with the love of the Lord. She became one member of the inheritance of David.

How great is the Lord Almighty!

How?

Everything happens to good to those who trust in the Lord and obey his command. I don't worry any challenges and problems happened. For the Lord is with me!
