It is you alone who are to be feared. Who can stand before you when you are angry?

Psalm 76:1-12

God is renowned in Judahin Israel his name is great.

There he broke the flashing arrowsthe shields and the swords, the weapons of war.

You are radiant with light, more majestic than mountains rich with gameThe valiant lie plundered, they sleep their last sleep; not one of the warriors can lift his hands. At your rebuke, God of Jacob, both horse and chariot lie still.

It is you alone who are to be feared. Who can stand before you when you are angry?

Surely your wrath against mankind brings you praise, and the survivors of your wrath are restrained.

He breaks the spirit of rulers; he is feared by the kings of the earth.

The victory may be David's or the psalm may refer to the Assyrians. It would be appropriate for a number of different occasions and may have been used at a festival time, Israel marvels at the terrible glory of the God who overthrows all the might of the enemy.

Why?

Men's angry and wrath against the Lord brings praise and glory to the Lord. Even their angry such as the Pharaoh, king Assyrians failed before the Lord, and turn back to their way.

Fear the Lord is wisdom.

Yes, It is you alone who are to be feared. No one can stand before God when He is angry.

How?

Fear the Lord and obey his word with all my heart, all my mind, and all my strength.
