Betrayed and arrest

John 18:1-12

When he had finished praying, Jesus left with his disciples and crossed the Kidron Valley. On the other side there was a garden, and he and his disciples went into it.

Now Judas, who betrayed him, knew the place, because Jesus had often met there with his disciples. So Judas came to the garden, guiding a detachment of soldiers and some officials from the chief priests and the Pharisees. They were carrying torches, lanterns and weapons.

Jesus, knowing all that was going to happen to him, went out and asked them, “Who is it you want?”

“Jesus of Nazareth,” they replied.

“I am he,” Jesus said. (And Judas the traitor was standing there with them.) When Jesus said, “I am he,” they drew back and fell to the ground.

Jesus answered, “I told you that I am he. If you are looking for me, then let these men go.” This happened so that the words he had spoken would be fulfilled: “I have not lost one of those you gave me.”

Then Simon Peter, who had a sword, drew it and struck the high priest’s servant, cutting off his right ear. (The servant’s name was Malchus.)

Jesus commanded Peter, “Put your sword away! Shall I not drink the cup the Father has given me?”

Then the detachment of soldiers with its commander and the Jewish officials arrested Jesus. They bound him.

John omits Jesus' prayer in the garden. But he tells us the name of the slave, and that the swordsman was Peter.

Why?

Jesus did not afraid they came to arrest him, Jesus said "I am he" with power so they drew back and fell to the ground.

Jesus even ordered peter to draw the sword, for Jesus had to obey the mission of the Lord.

Judas gave information to the Jewish officials and help them to identify who is Jesus. He is a traitor.

Give thanks to Jesus Christ.

耶穌被抓都是耶穌主動同意的，不是被迫的。

耶穌選一個猶大已經知道的地方。一切主動都是耶穌，人只有接招的份。我是在約翰福音出現多次。"我是"就是耶和華，這些人承受不住的。表示他們根本無法捉拿耶穌。可不可捉拿耶穌由耶穌決定。要捉拿誰?也是只有耶穌，讓其他人走吧。應驗耶穌的話，神所賜的人都受保護。

彼得要抵抗，抵抗表示應付不了，才要動刀。耶穌主動把杯接下，五個方面來看整個場面都是耶穌在掌管。耶穌是一切文化、未來的掌管者，我們不可能可以掌管什麼！所有的都在耶穌的掌控中。我們還有什麼好擔心呢?

There is the love of Jesus and the sin in Judas who was grasped by his own mind and sonvinced by the devil.

The love you have for me may be in them and that I myself may be in them

John 17:13-26

My prayer is not that you take them out of the world but that you protect them from the evil one. They are not of the world, even as I am not of it. Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth. As you sent me into the world, I have sent them into the world. For them I sanctify myself, that they too may be truly sanctified.

My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me.

Father, I want those you have given me to be with me where I am, and to see my glory, the glory you have given me because you loved me before the creation of the world.

Righteous Father, though the world does not know you, I know you, and they know that you have sent me. I have made you known to them, and will continue to make you known in order that the love you have for me may be in them and that I myself may be in them.

But his followers will be left bereft in a hostile world. So he prays that God will protect them; that their lives may be shaped by the truth of God's word; that they may display such unity among themselves that the world will be shaken out of its disbelief; and that they may, in the end, be with him in his glory.

Why?

Jesus loves us, he prayed for his disciples and all who believe in Him.

God's word is truth, sanctify them by the truth.

All Christain should love each other and Jesus is in us, may the glory God has given to Jesus may be given to us.

前面3個祈求： 1)父榮耀子，子也榮耀父 2)父讓子得著榮耀  3)門徒的合一

耶穌的第四個祈求：保守神所賜給他的人，即門徒。門徒雖然有軟弱，也是一時的軟弱，除了滅亡之子，猶大，但是猶大還是硬著心，將耶穌給的那塊餅吃了，表示鐵了心出賣耶穌。

不求離開世界，但求脫離罪惡，即成聖。門徒不屬於這個世界，世界會恨他們，所以保守門徒脫離罪惡的誘惑，不受罪的轄制。在世界卻不屬這個世界。聖潔是分別的意思。

如何成為聖潔，因真理成聖，用主的道成聖。

第五個祈求： 為合一禱告，為教會禱告。合一是一個見證。合一的秘訣是耶穌在教會，在基督徒裏面，主又住在耶穌裏面，所以讓主住在我們裏面。領受神的榮耀，生命。

最後一個祈求： 緊緊跟隨主。更多經歷主的作為，更親近耶穌基督。透過耶穌更多認識神！

How?

Walk on the way of Jesus Christ is to glorify the Holy Name of the Lord, for Jesus is in us, we are in the Christ.

They may be one as we are one

John 17:1-11

After Jesus said this, he looked toward heaven and prayed: Father, the hour has come. Glorify your Son, that your Son may glorify you. For you granted him authority over all people that he might give eternal life to all those you have given him. Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent. 

I have revealed you to those whom you gave me out of the world. They were yours; you gave them to me and they have obeyed your word. Now they know that everything you have given me comes from you. For I gave them the words you gave me and they accepted them. They knew with certainty that I came from you, and they believed that you sent me. I pray for them. I am not praying for the world, but for those you have given me, for they are yours. All I have is yours, and all you have is mine. And glory has come to me through them. I will remain in the world no longer, but they are still in the world, and I am coming to you. Holy Father, protect them by the power of your name, the name you gave me, so that they may be one as we are one.

Jesus' work is complete, all but the final 'hour'. He has passed God's message on. He has made God known. Now there remains only death and the glory he set aside to become a human being.

Why?

Jesus prayed to the Lord before he come back to his heavenly father for his mission completed and for disciples to belong to the Lord.

Jesus has made known that he came from God, he is the son of the Lord. 

Disciples believed in Jesus so they are God's, Jesus prays for them protects them by the power of the Lord. 

Jesus prayed to the Father to protect them and they are one in Jesus like Jesus and the Father are one.

耶穌兩件禱告

1.榮耀的事： 得榮耀的基礎： 耶穌已經完成父託付的工作。求父榮耀子，子也榮耀父。

   從你享有榮耀，創世前的榮耀。主的名是最重要的。得永生的方法是與主建立關係。根據耶穌的順服，所以耶穌與神同得榮耀。神要藉著基督徒得榮耀，即基督徒行主的道。成全神所託付的事就是榮耀神的方法。

2.為門徒禱告祈求：因主的名門徒可以合一。世界的合一，是強國要弱國聽從他，強者要求弱者來與他合一。耶穌的合一是因為愛的關係，甘心樂意順服而合一。

How?

When we believe in Jesus Christ and obey His command, we are one with Jesus Christ.

In me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.

John 16:23-33

In that day you will no longer ask me anything. Very truly I tell you, my Father will give you whatever you ask in my name. Until now you have not asked for anything in my name. Ask and you will receive, and your joy will be complete. 

The Father himself loves you because you have loved me and have believed that I came from God. I came from the Father and entered the world; now I am leaving the world and going back to the Father.

Then Jesus’ disciples said, “Now you are speaking clearly and without figures of speech. Now we can see that you know all things and that you do not even need to have anyone ask you questions. This makes us believe that you came from God.”

“Do you now believe?” Jesus replied. “A time is coming and in fact has come when you will be scattered, each to your own home. You will leave me all alone. Yet I am not alone, for my Father is with me.

I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.

The disciples will see him again and know lasting joy. There is a testing time ahead, but the battle between Jesus and the world is won.

Why?

All of the words Jesus has said have come true. Jesus comes from God.

Jesus gives us the right to pray in Jesus' name, for we have loved Jesus and have believed Jesus came from the Lord, and God loves us, so the Lord will listen to our prayer.

The disciple believed Jesus came from God, but Jesus knew that the time has come all of them will be scattered, and leave Jesus all alone. Jesus was ready to face it by himself. This is the mission Jesus came to this world.

In Jesus we may have peace, in this world, we will have trouble. because Jesus has overcome the world, so I am not afraid.

耶穌最後的教導

1.神啟示祂自己，屆時他們會明白，以禱告做例子。奉主的名禱告，因耶穌的名祈求，主一定成就！主成就是因耶穌基督的名，讓主的名得榮耀

2.神應允禱告的目的是叫人心滿意足，即合神的心意的事物，所賞賜的是叫人的喜樂可以滿足。不是滿足自己的私慾。人可以直接向父神來禱告，這是以前不可能的，都要靠祭司求。

3.不再用比喻說，預告門徒將會跌倒。耶穌要親自為我們禱告。只有耶穌可以說他從父那裏來的，先知只能說是神差遣來的。身份是神的兒子，受死是耶穌的使命。此時門徒說相信耶穌是神的兒子，這個信是什麼樣的信?是膚淺的，只在知識的層面上，沒有成為力量、成為生命。不要灰心，要放心。世上有苦難，所以門徒即使受到逼迫，他們還是可以勝過，因為耶穌會給他們力量，耶穌已經得勝了。耶穌重視的是門徒的信心。

Jesus has overcome the world, Great is the Lord, give honor to Jesus.

In a little while you will see me no more, and then after a little while you will see me.

John 16:12-22

I have much more to say to you, more than you can now bear. But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come. He will glorify me because it is from me that he will receive what he will make known to you. All that belongs to the Father is mine. That is why I said the Spirit will receive from me what he will make known to you.”

Jesus went on to say, “In a little while you will see me no more, and then after a little while you will see me.”

Very truly I tell you, you will weep and mourn while the world rejoices. You will grieve, but your grief will turn to joy. A woman giving birth to a child has pain because her time has come; but when her baby is born she forgets the anguish because of her joy that a child is born into the world. So with you: Now is your time of grief, but I will see you again and you will rejoice, and no one will take away your joy. 

There will be grief and sadness, but only for a little while. The disciples will see him again and know lasting joy. There is a testing time ahead, but the battle between Jesus and the world is won.

Why?

The role of the Spirit of truth, guides you into all the truth. tell you what is yet to come, glorify me. Receive from me what he will make known to you. 

A little time means Jesus will die and resurrection again three days later. So disciples did not know what will happen on Jesus. This is the emotion that changed from grief to joy.

The Spirit of truth whose main purpose is to guide us into all the truth and tell what is come, glorify Jesus, and make what known to us.

鼓勵門徒，堅定門徒信心。

第二次講到聖靈最重要是引導人明白神的證話語，堅定信心。門徒現在不明白，以後聖靈會讓他們明白。讀經不是靠努力，靠學問，而是靠聖靈，不用擔心我們讀不懂，聖靈一定會引導我們。神要我們懂多少就明白多少。

聖靈主要目的把聖靈要啟示我們的告訴我們。明白神的心意，明白後進入真理裏面。

聖靈不會離開基督工作，所以聖靈有自己獨立意志，讓我們明白神的心意，領受基督的話語。傳講基督，榮耀基督。我們讀聖經不是為了帶查聖經，明白基督，進入基督裏，榮耀基督。

為什麼耶穌不講清楚，耶穌再過幾小時會死，而是門徒此刻無法領會、無法接受、也聽不懂，或是當作不重要。

耶穌以產婦生產比喻來鼓勵門徒，忍受將要來的憂愁，痛苦，你們是有盼望的，憂愁要轉為喜樂。我們如何在患難中因為有盼望而堅強。

Jesus loves us so he let the Spirit of truth to guide us and show us the right way and his word.

 

When their time comes you will remember that I warned you about them

 John 16:1-11

“All this I have told you so that you will not fall away. They will put you out of the synagogue; in fact, the time is coming when anyone who kills you will think they are offering a service to God. They will do such things because they have not known the Father or me. I have told you this, so that when their time comes you will remember that I warned you about them. I did not tell you this from the beginning because I was with you, but now I am going to him who sent me. None of you asks me, ‘Where are you going?’ Rather, you are filled with grief because I have said these things. But very truly I tell you, it is for your good that I am going away. Unless I go away, the Advocate will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you. When he comes, he will prove the world to be in the wrong about sin and righteousness and judgment: about sin, because people do not believe in me; about righteousness, because I am going to the Father, where you can see me no longer; and about judgment, because the prince of this world now stands condemned.

Even so, there will be those who think they are serving God in seeking to kill the followers of Jesus. Jesus returns to what he has already said to them: his place, to prove to people how wrong they are about sin and judgment, and to lead his followers into a deeper understanding of the truth.

Why?

Those who not know Jesus though they kill disciples will think they are offering a service to God. Just as they crucified Jesus. So to be a Christian have to be suppressed or discarded by this world.

We are not belong to this world, so this world does not welcome us. We stay in these world is not gain the praise of people but to honor the name of the Lord.

Because Jesus has chosen us from the world, we are temporally living in this world. Our mission is honor the name of the Lord and show the love of Jesus to witness Jesus love with us.

How?

Keep in mind all word of Jesus, do our best to honor the Holy name of the Lord, no on our strength but for the Holy Spirit is with me, I can do what I should do as a follower of Jesus.

A servant is not greater than his master

John 15:18-27

“If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first. If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you. Remember what I told you: ‘A servant is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted me, they will persecute you also. If they obeyed my teaching, they will obey yours also. They will treat you this way because of my name, for they do not know the one who sent me. If I had not come and spoken to them, they would not be guilty of sin; but now they have no excuse for their sin. Whoever hates me hates my Father as well. If I had not done among them the works no one else did, they would not be guilty of sin. As it is, they have seen, and yet they have hated both me and my Father. But this is to fulfill what is written in their Law: ‘They hated me without reason.’ 

“When the Advocate comes, whom I will send to you from the Father—the Spirit of truth who goes out from the Father—he will testify about me. And you also must testify, for you have been with me from the beginning.

Jesus' followers are no longer being to the world as they once did. He has made them part of himself and they will inevitably attract hatred, just as Christ himself did. But Help is at hand. 

Why?

A servant is not greater than his master so they persecuted Jesus, they will persecute us also.

We are chosen out of the world so we do not belong to the world, so this world hates us.

The Holy Spirit of truth will come after Jesus and he will testify about Jesus and testify us. 

Do not be afraid for Jesus is with us when we follow the command of Jesus.

前面講到枝子與樹的關係的連結。

這裏講到逼迫，門徒與連結，所以世界也會逼迫門徒，因為光會照出人的黑暗，人行惡又想掩蓋，因此與光明、聖潔有關的都想要除去。充滿罪惡的世界自然容不下聖潔的門徒。因此我們不要去迎合世人，例如將主日敬拜綜藝化，討好世人，這不是神的道路。

世人不認識父神不是不知道，而是他們故意不信。他們聽過、看過卻不願意認識，故意抗拒。

門徒如何面對逼迫： 聖徒要為基督做見證。聖靈為耶穌做見證，耶穌是死裏復活，是基督，是神的兒子。因為聖靈與門徒同在，所以門徒可以為基督做見證。

聖靈與神的話，逼迫時聖徒說的見證，面對逼迫時見證福音！聖靈是保守我們面對世界的挑戰。受逼迫也是經歷聖靈的時候。面對這個世界的挑戰，誘惑也是一種逼迫！

This is my command: Love each other

John 15:9-17

“As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love. If you keep my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commands and remain in his love. I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete. My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. You are my friends if you do what I command. I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you. You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last—and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you. This is my command: Love each other.

Bear fruits: It is  love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, humility, and self-control (Galatians 5:22)

Why?

Jesus told us many times: love each other, this command is greater love.

If we do this command we will remain in God's love, just as Jesus remains in God's love.

Whatever we asked in Jesus' name the Father will give us if we do what Jesus commanded.

It is not we choose Jesus, but Jesus chose us. This is the grace from the Lord upon me.

我們從愛的觀點來說結果子。

從愛的觀點來遵守主的命令。愛主的人遵守主的命令，遵守主的命令，主愛我們，從遵守主的命令知道我們愛主。遵守主命令是通往快樂的道路，不是在約束我們。

吃飯得到的滿足，但是領人歸主得到的滿足更大。所以耶穌在井邊告訴門徒，帶領人信主就是我的食物了，比吃飽更滿足！

耶穌稱我們為朋友，所以一切事都告訴我們，因為耶穌關心我們。

去給果子就可以彼此相愛，去給果子，讓我們出去，給出去，我們就會彼此相愛！

How?

Thanks the Lord loves me and giving me the grace to know Jesus is the Lord! So we have to love each other.

I am the vine; you are the branches.

John 15:1-8

I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful. You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you. Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.

I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.

If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples.

Supper is over. Jesus and his disciples are leaving for Gethsemane. The conversation continues. There is not much time left.

In the Old Testament, Israel is pictured as the vine, brought out of Egypt by God and planted in the new land - but so often failing to yield the fruit God expects, Jesus is the real vine, fulfilling God's purpose where Israel had failed and bringing into being a new Israel. (the branches are those who believe in him)

Why?

Jesus is in me, and I belong to the Lord with Holy Spirit, the requirement is to obey the word of the Lord. So we can bear fruit of life, for we are the branches that connect with Jesus Christ.

If we remain in Jesus and the word of Jesus remains in me, ask whatever to Jesus will be done. This is the key to prayer. Am I really loving Jesus and obeying his word?

How?

Jesus is the Lord, may my heart, my mind, and my way with Jesus Christ!

The Holy Spirit will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you

John 14:21-31

Then Judas (not Judas Iscariot) said, “But, Lord, why do you intend to show yourself to us and not to the world?” 

Jesus replied, “Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them. Anyone who does not love me will not obey my teaching. These words you hear are not my own; they belong to the Father who sent me.

But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you. Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

I have told you now before it happens, so that when it does happen you will believe. I will not say much more to you, for the prince of this world is coming. He has no hold over me, but he comes so that the world may learn that I love the Father and do exactly what my Father has commanded me.

Jesus' own unshakeable peace will be theirs. For their part, the disciples must continue to love and trust him. And the way to show their love is to do all that he says.

Why?

In this world, many people are not chosen by the Lord so they won't follow Jesus and reject Jesus as their father.

Only those who love Jesus will obey Jesus' teaching and the lord love them.

The Holy Spirit teaches us all things and reminds us of everything. So the Lord is living with us.

All of the disciples were not understood, but when Jesus goes back to the Father, they will know all of these.

愛主的人應當遵守主的命令： 遵守主的命令就是愛主的人。父也會愛他，父會向他顯現，不是指形象出現。會與這個人同在。猶太人相信末日時神會與他們同住，耶穌這裏指的不是猶太人，而是愛主的人，包括外邦人。三位一體的神與我們同住，這個福氣在聖靈來了就會經歷到。

聖靈的工作：1)保護、施恩，教導、安慰 ，指教人，叫人想起耶穌的話：啟示在人的心裏。回應我們的禱告。與神的道神的話語有關。雖然醫病、說方言等也是聖靈的同在，但是卻不是約翰福音所提及的聖靈工作。2)賜下平安：門徒會擔憂耶穌走了怎麼辦? 聖靈降下，心中一定有平安、喜樂超過世上能給的。3)豐盛的祝福：愛耶穌就該為耶穌回到父神那裏而高興，體會耶穌的感受，不要只為自己想，要與耶穌一同高興。神不會叫我們經歷我們不能不承擔的事。讓我們心裏也有主，體會耶穌的心、神的心。

How?

Jesus is the Lord, Jesus and Holy Spirit and the Father are all in one to teach us and bless us. Jesus gives us the peace is not like this world.

The Holy Spirit will come to be with them always and everywhere

 John 14:13-20 

And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.

If you love me, keep my commands. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever— the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you. I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you. Before long, the world will not see me anymore, but you will see me. Because I live, you also will live. On that day you will realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you.

Soon Jesus will return to the Father, and it is something to be glad about. He is making the approach road for men and women to come to God. He is going to get a permanent home ready for his disciples, and in due course he will come for them. His return to God will bring new power in action, new certainty in prayer. Best of all, his followers will have a Helper; the Holy Spirit will come to be with them always and everywhere not limited by a physical body as Jesus had been. He will trach and counsel and bring to mind all that Jesus has said.

Why?

Jesus is the Lord, so on that day you will realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me. Even we don't know what is going on, but because we believe the promise of Jesus and the blessing of the Lord will be with us.

The Spirit of truth be with us so we have faith and strength to living in this world and be a light of the world to show love of Jesus.

門徒藉著禱告、聖靈與門徒同在，基督徒做比現在更大的事

1)藉著禱告可以蒙耶穌成就。禱告有關服事、彰顯神作為……叫父神因兒子得榮耀！

你們若奉我的名求什麼，我必成就。你們若愛我，就必遵守我的命令。所以所求的不是為我們自己。目的在彰顯神的榮耀

2)信徒靠聖靈可以做更大的事。聖靈保惠師，把真理啟示出來，叫人走在真理的道路中。與基督徒生命、教導有關

3)耶穌肉身離開，但是實際上沒有離開，聖靈來到，耶穌也來了。世人因為不認識耶穌所以不認識聖靈。耶穌藉著聖靈住在我們裏面。耶穌、父神、聖靈彼此內住在我裏面，連結親密的相交。

Keep command od Jesus is the way of blessing and Jesus has told us. 

I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me

John 13:36-14:12

“Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. You know the way to the place where I am going.”

Thomas said to him, “Lord, we don’t know where you are going, so how can we know the way?”

Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you really know me, you will know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him.”

Philip said, “Lord, show us the Father and that will be enough for us.”

Jesus answered: “Don’t you know me, Philip, even after I have been among you such a long time? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? Don’t you believe that I am in the Father, and that the Father is in me?

Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these because I am going to the Father. And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.

Jesus sees his approaching death as God's glory revealed. He spoke similarly of the death-and-raising of Lazarus. He has set the supreme example of love. His 'new commandment' to his followers is to love one another with a love like his.

Peter, puzzled by Jesus' talk of going where he cannot follow, claims more than he can deliver. Jesus knows he will deny rather than die.

The disciples are worried and upset by the talk of betrayal and the thought of Jesus leaving them. So Jesus speaks reassurance but leaves Thomas even more mystified. Jesus is the way to God, the truth, and the one who makes the eternal life of God available to all who will receive it. Philip wants to see God, not realizing that he has already seen him, in Jesus.

彼得熱心有餘，智慧稍不足，那有什麼地方不能跟著耶穌?真的願意為耶穌死嗎？就是看過於所當看，信心是神給的，不是憑著熱誠的。信心不是自己的感覺！信心是從神來的。所以他講了合乎中道的話。

門徒什麼都沒有得到，怎麼耶穌要離開他們了！耶穌要做一件事也是為門徒的益事，永恆的居所。

耶穌是道路、真理、生命！多馬問耶穌去那裏?目標就是父家，怎麼去，耶穌就是道路，生命是罪得赦免，得著生命，才能到父那裏去！腓力很單純，也是很愚蠢，正是我們的對照。腓力的看是肉眼的看。聽耶穌說話，看耶穌做事，就是看到神做事。我們也很想有看見耶穌的經歷。我們求看見神是什麼樣意思?除了經歷一年事嗎？我們對神的話語，神的……都不知道，有什麼益處?認識父、心意、喜悅的不喜悅的事，彰顯父的作為。以後就是由基督徒來彰顯神的福音、神的道傳揚到全世界！

Why?

Jesus is the Lord but even his disciples could not understand these. so they have these questions.

How?

Jesus is the way and the truth and the life.

Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.

John 13:18-35

 “I am telling you now before it happens, so that when it does happen you will believe that I am who I am. Very truly I tell you, whoever accepts anyone I send accepts me; and whoever accepts me accepts the one who sent me.”

Simon Peter motioned to this disciple and said, “Ask him which one he means.” Leaning back against Jesus, he asked him, “Lord, who is it?”

Jesus answered, “It is the one to whom I will give this piece of bread when I have dipped it in the dish.” Then, dipping the piece of bread, he gave it to Judas, the son of Simon Iscariot. As soon as Judas took the bread, Satan entered into him.

 “My children, I will be with you only a little longer. You will look for me, and just as I told the Jews, so I tell you now: Where I am going, you cannot come.

“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”

Peter asked, “Lord, why can’t I follow you now? I will lay down my life for you.” Then Jesus answered, “Will you really lay down your life for me? Very truly I tell you, before the rooster crows, you will disown me three times!

We know from Luke that Judas has already volunteered to help the priests make a secret arrest. Now the moment has come. The rest of the disciples have no idea of what is afoot. But Jesus knows. 'It was night.' But in this Gospel light and darkness take on a deeper meaning. These were Jesus' darkest hours, though nothing could extinguish the light of his life. Judas, by contrast, stepped from the light into a darkness from which there would be no return.

Why?

Jesus loves every disciple even Juda, he points out Juda will tread him by giving him bread. This is an action of serving him. 

Before Jesus is arrested Jesus gives a command. Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples.

How?

Love one another in the church and within Christians for we have the same Lord and Jesus Christ. Jesus Loves us so we love Him either. Love others to show we are belong to Jesus.

I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you

 John 13:1-17

It was just before the Passover Festival.

The evening meal was in progress, and the devil had already prompted Judas, the son of Simon Iscariot, to betray Jesus. Jesus knew that the Father had put all things under his power, and that he had come from God and was returning to God; so he got up from the meal, took off his outer clothing, and wrapped a towel around his waist. After that, he poured water into a basin and began to wash his disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel that was wrapped around him.

Jesus answered, “Unless I wash you, you have no part with me.”

“Then, Lord,” Simon Peter replied, “not just my feet but my hands and my head as well!”

Jesus answered, “Those who have had a bath need only to wash their feet; their whole body is clean. And you are clean, though not every one of you.” For he knew who was going to betray him, and that was why he said not every one was clean.

“Do you understand what I have done for you?” he asked them. “You call me ‘Teacher’ and ‘Lord,’ and rightly so, for that is what I am. Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another’s feet. I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you. Very truly I tell you, no servant is greater than his master, nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him. Now that you know these things, you will be blessed if you do them.

Jesus is at supper with the Twelve for the last time. They have been arguing over who is greatest. Jesus' reply is to strip and wash their dusty feet. The Master willingly makes himself their slave. Here is the role model for his followers.

Why?

Jesus knew his time is near so he loved his disciples even he knew one of them to betray him. 

Jesus as their teacher and washes their feet to be an example to show them have to serve the others, if they are the disciple of Jesu have to follow what Jesus has done. Jesus is a servant of the Lord, so we are the servant of Jesus either.

Peter is an honest and sincere person, he explained his feeling honestly and express his love to Jesus.

You will be blessed if you do them, Jesus told us.

Wash feet, the whole body is clean. Walk on the right way then our life will be clean either. When walking in a dirty way, our feet are dirty, our life is full of sins and unclean.

耶穌知道他離世的時間到底。他世人就愛到底，做卑微的工作，門徒學習。耶穌提醒猶大，他也甘心走上這條路。

耶穌知道父已將萬有交在他手裡，且知道自己是從神出來的，又要歸到神那裡去，知道使命、去處。

耶穌以僕人的身份，放下尊貴的地位來服事門徒。束上腰帶，表示嚴肅的工作，同時也是約束自己。

耶穌自己去倒水入盆。洗腳是最低下僕人做的工作。表達最卑微的工作做在我們身上。

耶穌知道猶大要賣他，所以不都是乾淨的，就是與罪有關的猶大。讓主洗腳，也是接受耶穌來除去我們有罪，與主有份，是接受耶穌不是我們去做什麼！腳踩在地上容易沾染世俗，有罪。洗腳象徵，我們要常常被主洗腳，即願意接受耶穌洗淨我們的罪。我為你們洗腳，你們也要彼此洗腳，洗去對方的軟弱，弱點，虧欠，錯誤。我們指出別人錯誤時，容易落入自義。我們要放下身段以最卑微的態度，很嚴肅的、低下的親自來做這件事。站在對方的立場來服事、指正、提醒。

以拿餅給猶大吃，來指出猶大是賣他的人。耶穌用愛來指出罪。

For I did not come to judge the world, but to save the world

John 12:37-50

Even after Jesus had performed so many signs in their presence, they still would not believe in him. This was to fulfill the word of Isaiah the prophet Isaiah 53:1 “Lord, who has believed our message    and to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?

Yet at the same time many even among the leaders believed in him. But because of the Pharisees they would not openly acknowledge their faith for fear they would be put out of the synagogue; for they loved human praise more than praise from God.

Then Jesus cried out, “Whoever believes in me does not believe in me only, but in the one who sent me. The one who looks at me is seeing the one who sent me. I have come into the world as a light, so that no one who believes in me should stay in darkness.

For I did not come to judge the world, but to save the world. There is a judge for the one who rejects me and does not accept my words; the very words I have spoken will condemn them at the last day.

I know that his command leads to eternal life. So whatever I say is just what the Father has told me to say.

At the end of Jesus' public ministry and despite all his miracles, most of his own people, the Jews, remained unconvinced. Many of the religious authorities did believe but were too afraid of the Pharisee hard-liners to say so openly. So it happened as the prophet Isaiah said it would.

I have not come to judge the world but to save the world, Jesus says. Nonetheless, to reject him is to reject God, to spurn life and light, and invite judgment.

Why?

The problem is sin in human beings. even there were many signs in their presence, they still would not believe in him for they loved human praise more than praise from God.

Jesus comes to the world as a light, but many people still like to stay in the darkness, for their sins will be revealed in the light.

Jesus coming to the world to save the world, if people reject Jesus and do not accept his world, the judgment will come upon them.

就算不信我，也從我行的可以相信我。神對不信的人，不是束手無策。人故意不信，硬著心，神會把門關起來。有些人信了，但是為了維護自己的權利、地位，不敢公開自己的信仰。許多官員、民意代表當可以引起支持共鳴，卻是違背自己的信仰，或是不敢表達自己的信仰。主在他生命中就不是主了。只是心靈得到一點慰藉嗎？希望把耶穌藏起來，以免影響自己的前途。在創啟地區的宣教士，為了神的工作，暫時隱藏自己身份，但是還是在傳揚福音，適時表明自己的身份。

How?

Jesus is my light, my savior, and gives me eternal life when I believed in Him.

Believe in the light while you have the light

John 12:20-36

They came to Philip, who was from Bethsaida in Galilee, with a request. “Sir,” they said, “we would like to see Jesus.” Philip went to tell Andrew; Andrew and Philip in turn told Jesus.

Jesus replied, “The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified. Very truly I tell you, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds. Anyone who loves their life will lose it, while anyone who hates their life in this world will keep it for eternal life. Whoever serves me must follow me; and where I am, my servant also will be. My Father will honor the one who serves me.

 “Now my soul is troubled, and what shall I say? ‘Father, save me from this hour’? No, it was for this very reason I came to this hour. Father, glorify your name!”

Then a voice came from heaven, “I have glorified it, and will glorify it again.” The crowd that was there and heard it said it had thundered; others said an angel had spoken to him.

The crowd spoke up, “We have heard from the Law that the Messiah will remain forever, so how can you say, ‘The Son of Man must be lifted up’? Who is this ‘Son of Man’?”

Then Jesus told them, “You are going to have the light just a little while longer. Walk while you have the light, before darkness overtakes you. Whoever walks in the dark does not know where they are going. Believe in the light while you have the light, so that you may become children of light.” When he had finished speaking, Jesus left and hid himself from them.

Some Greek converts seek Jesus out - and all at once, he is face to face with his destiny. He knows 'the hour has come'. His discourse is full of paradox; life multiplied through death; the glory that comes by way of the cross; light and darkness.

With a final appeal to 'believe in the light'. Jesus withdraws. His last days will be spent with his disciples; there is much to tell them, and little time left.

Why?

Jesus mentioned he will die and like the wheat falls to the ground and dies, it produces many seeds. So as Jesus and his followers have to do the same thing as he will do.

Jesus would is troubled, and when he prayed to the Lord, God answered Him, there was thunder sound.

Believe in the light while you have the light, Jesus is the light, so believing in Jesus at the right time is important. There is not much time before the judgment of the last day.

How?

Whoever serves me must follow me; and where I am, my servant also will be. Walk the way of Jesus Christ!

Hosanna! “Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!”, “Blessed is the king of Israel

 John 12:12-19

The next day the great crowd that had come for the festival heard that Jesus was on his way to Jerusalem. They took palm branches and went out to meet him, shouting, Hosanna! “Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!”, “Blessed is the king of Israel!”

Jesus found a young donkey and sat on it, as it is written: “Do not be afraid, Daughter Zion; see, your king is coming, seated on a donkey’s colt.”

At first his disciples did not understand all this. Only after Jesus was glorified did they realize that these things had been written about him and that these things had been done to him.

Many people, because they had heard that he had performed this sign, went out to meet him. So the Pharisees said to one another, “See, this is getting us nowhere. Look how the whole world has gone after him!

John's account is the briefest, and the only one to connect the welcoming crowds with the news of Lazarus' resurrection. To the Pharisees opposed to Jesus it seems as if 'the whole world is following him.

Why?

Jesus entered Jerusalem with crowd welcome, Hosanna! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord... This is correctly described the identity of Jesus.

Jesus sat on a young donkey is witness one more thing written about him in the prophet book.

耶穌以前行事低調，現在卻接受眾人擁護，高調進京。讓人歡呼他是以色列的王！民眾拿棕樹枝表示認耶穌為王，得勝凱旋的進耶路撒冷。

耶穌是為受難而來，代表終極的得勝。雖然受苦，被抓，反而是得榮耀。完全的順服是耶穌的得勝。這是君王凱旋歸來的得勝。表面看似受難，卻是得勝，撒旦完全沒有辦法來控告！君王卻不是騎馬而是騎驢，是謙卑，用愛來征服人心！

法利賽人彼此說：看哪，你們是徒勞無益，世人都隨從他去了。法利賽人彼此在說，沒有用了 ，除了除掉耶穌。真正束手無策的是抗拒耶穌的人，神的計劃必定成就！

You will always have the poor among you, but you will not always have me

 John 12:1-11

Six days before the Passover, Jesus came to Bethany, where Lazarus lived, whom Jesus had raised from the dead. Here a dinner was given in Jesus’ honor. Martha served, while Lazarus was among those reclining at the table with him. Then Mary took about a pint of pure nard, an expensive perfume; she poured it on Jesus’ feet and wiped his feet with her hair. And the house was filled with the fragrance of the perfume.

“Leave her alone,” Jesus replied. “It was intended that she should save this perfume for the day of my burial. You will always have the poor among you, but you will not always have me.”

So the chief priests made plans to kill Lazarus as well, for on account of him many of the Jews were going over to Jesus and believing in him.

Why?

Mary did this in preparation before Jesus died, even she didn't know what she is doing, Mary just devoted the best and most precious one to Jesus. For Jesus has raised her brother from dead. Mary did this for her love!

But Judas just criticized it from the perspective of an investment point. So Jesus commented you will always have the poor among you, but you will not always have me. There are poor anywhere, in any country, but Jesus will leave them six days later. And even Jesus has died for us but many people still do not recognize Him as the Son of God.

Many people believe in Jesus for the miracle on Lazarus, but the chief priest and their fellows try to kill Jesus for their right and benefit could be affected by Jesus. They are selfish and like most human beings.

馬利亞為耶穌奉獻，不求回報，因為耶穌將死！貼切滿足主的心表達愛神的心！回應拉撒路復活馬利亞願意奉獻最好的，最貴重的。人常以實際果效來看事情，評估效果。事工導向重視成果，看重實際成果。耶穌看重一個人如何在乎神的想法，花多少代價在神身上。我們有願意的心，就是神喜悅的。

他們企圖掩蓋工作，最好的方法就是把耶穌殺了，連同拉撒路最好一起殺了。我們做事不是不講方法，更重要是按神的心意、想法。神帶領摩西40年，亞伯拉罕更長。
