Know the truth, and the truth will set you free

John 8:31-36

To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” 

They answered him, “We are Abraham’s descendants and have never been slaves of anyone. How can you say that we shall be set free?”

Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, everyone who sins is a slave to sin. Now a slave has no permanent place in the family, but a son belongs to it forever. So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.

Many Jews believe him. But his promise that the truth will make his disciples free upsets those who reckon they 'have never bee slaves.'

Why?

For everyone is a slave of sin, for man subdues to the fresh. Only hold the teaching is really Jesus disciples and know the truth that the truth will set us free.

這是耶穌對信他的人說的。

遵守主的道，不是單單信，而是遵守神的道，不是信徒，而是門徒。似乎得到約束，卻是得到自由。

人從下頭來的想的是世界的事，自由是意志上、心靈上的自由。不能勝過自己的慾望就不能自由，人以為可以為所慾為，其實是被罪轄制。

遵守神的道不是出於無奈，不是被迫的，而是因為愛神！
